The Ultimate Vampire Resource and Directory

I have completed an overhaul to the status system. I am using a new algorithm aiming at discouraging repetitive clickers.

Some people have moved down in status, but most people have either remained the same, or gone up.

If you've moved down, and you don't feel right being penalized, try to keep in mind that you are not. Your statistics have not changed, only what status level is associated with your statistics. The time you have spent here, pages viewed, etc. has remained unchanged.

The new system works like this:

30% based on Pages Viewed
50% based on Time Spent
10% based on things rated (profiles and vampire database)
10% based on forum posts

It is because of the last two that some people have moved up.

I don't think I will have to make any further modifications to the status system. I feel it is very fair.

You haven't really spent a lot of time here until the Time Spent counter flips over to Days spent. I am at 7.20 days at the moment....

When does the change over from hours to days happen? Cause im on 110.89 hours

There is something else I should point out. Under the new system, a person who is inactive will actually loose status over time. This is because 10% of your status is based on how many Profiles and Vampire Database entries you have rated. If you rate them all, then disappear for a year, your status will slowly decrease. This is because new Profiles and Vampire Database entries are being added all the time.

Once you've been here longer than a week... 168 hours.

i will say this, the 9vampirerave0 site is a good way to get all vampires to realize just how many of us thier are but you do realize that most of the people who comploment you are just sucking up so they do not get erased. i have no problems with this site so far, but i hope that if i did i would be able to tell you with out risking being erased. as of right now great job. i have descovered no faults so far.

I have noticed that status tends to go up a smidge faster if you peruse the database entries and profiles, as opposed to sifting through the forums all the time. Then again, it might just be the way I click around on the site. (shrug)

I think what fadingeyes is not understanding, is how much of the 4 categories are required for each level advancement. This information is not made public.

Great idea, very fair and easier to understand what significance my status has and how it is judged hen when I first joined. but Im only on 9.7 hours and 1385 pages so I have a long way to go!

My status has moved up from ghoul to fiend in about 30 hours, since dec20th

I think the change is a great one...but I was thinking that the number by our level was how many other users were of that level as well....

Oh and I had two suggestions you could mull over...the first would be putting a "Bite" option by the names on our lists, so that we don't have to link to the persons profile page, yes I know many people update their profs often :^) like me, and it might urge us to look at their prof page more, but a quick "bite" now and again wold be easier and faster. Ok so really that's just one suggestion. I also wanted to add that if you are surfing and don't want to be intrupted (sp? I'm not the greatest speller) then you can do a 'CTRL N' and open a second page, in the first use it to refresh and get/view y'r messages, and the second to surf the site...that's what I've been doing and as near as i can tell it still keeps me updated.

The number by your level is the sequential assignment of the level.

Whelp is the 1st level....and so on, until...
Prince is the 30th level

If you want to see how many people are at which levels, go to the Main Menu, and click "User Levels". It will how you how the membership is divided.

Talknig about level's.. Is'nt true that in the USA they try to avoid the number 13 ? as in there's not many 13th floors.. room numbers in hotels ect ???

thats correct but it seems to be all of north america ... as I am in canada.. we have no 13th floors no houses number 13 if there is one its a mistake that wasnt fixed back in the 50's lol we have houses with the number 666 and its not even as frowned upon as the number 13 ... hell when I turned 13 they made me stay HOME from school they sent me HOME :| all cuz I turned 13 on friday the 13th damn superstitious idiots!
