Most of you post interesting things on the site and are enjoyable to read. I do go through and read all post to see how things are answered and found out that we as people tend to throw out 2 cents in, but instead of two pennies we need to make change from a dime.
People doesn’t it bother you that the question you asked is answered but then more information is added and people tend to talk about that instead of what your original question was? Don’t get me wrong some of the off shoots are just as interesting but they should be posted as a new topic.
It's true that people tend to get a bit off topic at times, and a separate thread would be better, but sometimes you just can't help it. I know I do that every once in a while.
But some of these off topics should be posts for the fact that they are interesting. I know it can't be helped but what great debates can happen from them.
It botheres me when it goes too far off the topic, but we all do it and i think that it is normal, `cos we all answer the question trough our own expiriences...
Flooders are deleted
When a thread goes off topic it's RIP'd
But it's interesting to note, one thing.. for us non americans.. is a dime 10 cents?
I have greatly noticed this...Prolly one of the really good reasons I tend not to create a thread. People get too involved in what the last person posted that they do not actually read into what the thread was originally intended. If I wasn't a lil insane to begin with, the answers given for some threads would have driven me to it.
P.S.~ Yes, Mistress, a dime is 10 cents. ;-)
That is why i've stopped posting as much as i use to,nothing of major interest anymore and whne there is one or two some dumbass jcks it up and it gets RIP'd.
That is correct. Members tend to jump to the deep end with their post. One member will answer the question then one will tend to reply to that members response. Well then you know what happens after that the post then gets R.I.P. The post are for info. So please answer the question and not the other persons answer. Or just answer the question in your own words and then comment the other members answer !!
Hey that what I said and u called me a flooder (sort of) :))
This getting off the topic ? :)
It's like playing the telephone game. The message is clear at the start, but along the way it gets mixed up with what everyone adds to it. The best thing would be to go back to the first post and re-read it to make sure you're staying on topic. So much good discussion is lost because of a RIP'd thread.
well I think branching of a topic off onto a tangent is alright as long as it is related to the main subject or it has some relevance and thought to it.....
what bothers me is carte blanche non-responces.
Tho I guess that could be covered by flooding.....
I guess I try to keep forums I start on course by starting to talk privately with a person when I think we have drifted too far from center... not a solution by any means but I think it helps and it also gives ideas for new posts....
I generally don't have a lot to say on these threads...but I will say that while it is distracting from the main purpose of each thread, I find it very interesting to see just how the minds of our members work. I get to see things through a fresh set of eyes. The point of view each member expresses is one reason why I hang out on this site so much.
yes it does bother me, i mean maybe if they wanted to continue the conversation they could go and message eachother back and forth ... it would be nice for people to stay on topic
it dont bother me at all, i dont really care at all, i know it will get closed sooner or later, once ive posted my thought i hardly ever go back to it unless its a thread i started or of interest to me
actually i think its more interesting when the threads evolve. i suppose that maybe sometimes when people start a thread..they might be hoping that everyone just lines up and answers the question directly...but i find it more interesting if, people are also responding to other people's posts.
Not always is a bad thing.Sometimes it can be educational, cause from different opinions you can learn new things. What's not when there are offenses altough sometimes it is nice to see people arguing lol.
lol.. I am sorry about the dime, at times I forget that we have many people from other countries here.
yea, it gets really annoying when your talking about one thing and all the suddon someone comes in and says something else
i.e. if the convo is about bats, no one wants to hear about the antartic jetstream
To be an albatross, endlessly riding the gales of the antartic jet streams, solitary, gliding effortlessly. If I can't be a vampire, I would be an albatross.
Of course you don't have fucking wafers with it, you cunt! It's a fucking albatross, ...
Monty Python
SolidGraySky: I agree, sometimes when people do respond to another's post that it is infact intriguing what their continued opinion may be. However, if they answer just to another's post and make no remark to the original question/subject for debate it can be somewhat irritating to an extent.
Understandable that it may not always be meant to be done, but in my opinion, jus a little bit on the disrespectful side. No offense intended, of course, and I'm not saying that I won't sometimes do the same, but still.
I understand your point, and like the things you usually bring up, its something id like to rant about :-P
Soemtimes when I start threads and they get off topic or fall into idiocy, that annoys me. However, if the informaiton added is actually helping to educate me into the subject that interests me, then more often than not I am grateful to a person taking the time out to find information and share it for the good of our educations. If this is the case, then I will happily take my hat off to them... threads shouldn't be a popularity contest or a oppertunity to keep everyone else out of the spotlight, its just a means of us sharing information.
However, when people google huge amounts of copy and paste informaiton, this does irk me... it gives me an impression that the person just wants to look knowledgable rather than to be helpful, and I dont see why knowledge should become a contest.
I hope Im getting ym point accross, do you know what I mean? :-)
Yes it does me too Echo. I think if you have the knowledge, share it.. if you don't then you are better off keeping your mouth shut.
LMAO Miz, the sense of humour you have is surely whacky. Monthy Phython is fabulous!
Echo you are VERY right!
My favorite posts? "I like agree with everyone" or the "He is hot" type of posts... *bangs head on wall*
im new to the rave an lookin for peeps to talk to if u want to talk give me a holla ill talk to u ne time if im on
I think it really depends on what the topic is going off about. If its another direction or maybe something that can relate to the topic. cause and effect kind of thing then its not so bad. It can make the topic of conversation more interesting.
As for copy and pasting parts of an article.
Its going to happen. Some people cannot word things correctly. The article may have very important points so its easier to just copy and paste it. If they put it in thier own words it could seem like they are just babbling about something.
Reading things from sources can make people more knowledgable ( unlike my spelling.. heh)
The posts that get me are the just random stuff that has NOTHING to do with the topic...
( see post above heh)
People who post just to post. Sometimes it can be entertaining. An all the time thing is rather annoying.
There's always gonig to be people with ADD.. not their fault.. they should have their own post section..
Albatross , huh ? :)
*googles it* Oh nice :)
The topic is off the topic , isn't it ?
So a new thread should be started and named "What is your favourite animal [real or not] ?" ... right ? :)
How about "what is your favorite vampire animal?"
Back to the topic people
My favorite vampire animal is the parasitic worm Halipegus.
getting off topic is ok as long as the said topic is still alive changing it cmpleatly is pointless ~X~
i think people kind of get of topic with out really trying to or meaning to. just so they can say more about something that happened or their planning or something like tht
When people reply to a certain topic and then the answers tend to drift, to me that is called Human Nature, its just like every day life, you start off talking about one thing and end up talking about somthing completly different,It happens all the time, so dont be too hard on people..xx
it wouldn't really matter to me, I'd just be happy that I got the input I asked for originally
I don't find it anoyying when people get of topic. But Darkadmin has a point some of the stuff should be started as a new thread because some of the new conversations do make great threads
this makes me want to put my 2 cents in and say, nothing really im just kidding and being an asshole.
yah i get what you mean but some times it is not that bad i mean if you think about it what if the things that they add are not really enough to start a new thred?
So getting off the topic does bother people and yet some of the off topic issues should be posted as a new post. I am glad I am not the only one that this bothers and glad that people here express there opinions.
Topics on the rave are on a wide spectrum of things and are enjoyable. People here make them enjoyable and I want to thank you all for partaking in this discussion. If we bring up issues like this and try to keep to them through out the forum area the forums will only grow and knowledge will be passed on.
Off the topic yes we all do that Anyone know where my car keys are oh sorry what where we talking about
HOLY COW talk about Off topic!! (this falls under the off topic catigory but still staying within guidlines)
miz is of topic with albatross

MistressofBeltainn way off topic!
Dhampir off topic .. ADD has nothing to do with posts if Anything people with ADD should be able to follow better then anyone else! (least I do)
And so on .. ohh and my 2 favorite ones most of all!!
scarredwrists666 TOTALLY off topic ... need to look somewhere ELSE for love buddy!
LifeIsKillingMe Way off topic infact TOTALLY wrong thred ... *bunt's you over the the general chatter's cafe!*
Anyways ... YES indeed off topic does annoy me .... that is why they're promptly closed .... but if they make it Back to topic suuure I'll keep reading!
i dont like when u post something and ppl just put they dont like it or somethin like that...if u dont like it dont respond to it...
i dont kno...has anyone seen my purple kitten with orange poka dots?
Nic some of the people here that went off the topic either did it as a joke or didn't read the question in the first place. I find that when people go off it is for the reason that they do not read the beginning of the thread but tend to read the end of it.
DA Yeah I know I was being amused by the fact I know the ONE was as a joke .. but come on the guy looking for PM's surely wasnt a joke lol and Zlee I was still within the guidelines cuz I was Talking about Off Topic so :P
off the topic--> what do you call a person who believes he /she is half vampire and half lycan?
back to the subject--> when ppl get off the damn subject i just wanna through a brick at my damn computer hoping it will some how it them in the head.(lol j/k)
hmmmmm off topic can be fun
