ok, I tried to make a poll about this but it hasnt been approved yet so i thought i'd try here.
i was wondering what people thought of the rave having some games. Would you play them?

umm im not sure, i wasnt really planning these or anything but maybe some games where members could play against each other...

Fang Hunt: Players must work together on their team and retrieve the other teams fang...

Hide and Go Hunt: Find prey hiding on various pages...

Well, I like the second one. How about a fighting game? Play as a vampire kicking vampire hunters' asses. Maybe even fighting another kindred to become king/queen. Like a tournement.

What should be the prize? Free game for PS2,XBOX, or PC. With one of 3 choices. Every year.

Stick a fang in the victom: blindfolded lil vamplings run around trying to bite mortal necks.... (( must sign away life before playing ))

Memory: Match the vamp and their ghoul in this fast paced memory game...

HunterMan: run around eating the lil mortals, avoid hunters which chase you around the screen... Grab elder blood in the corners to temperarly be able to eat hunters...

I think this place is much better with inks to games, if you want to play them.. but old this place in high regard for conversation above anything else.

Not sure how hard that would be to implement though.

how about a two player fighting game, where you choose your vampire or other dark creature of the night and you fight other people online for points towards your status levels.

Some VR games are planned (Tied in with the Status System of course), but they are very very low on the Totem Pole right now...

Vampire Chess. This would be difficult to construct, but not impossible.

Black Pieces:

King: Obviously the most famous vamp of them all, Dracula.

Queen: Lilith of course.

Bishop: Gargoyles

Knight: Hellhounds

Rook: the Dark Tower

Pawn: a ghoul or some other low creature of the night.


White Pieces:

King: Van Helsing

Queen: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Bishop: Simon and Trevor Belmont

Knight: Blade

Rook: a church w/steeple

Pawn: Priests with crosses

The game would play like the video game Battle Chess, where when a piece is taken, a fight breaks out between the two before the square is claimed.

Games are cool, and I would play them, but that is a lot of programming, I would imagine. There are a few other features I'd like to see implemented first.

This is not Pogo, nor is it AOL or Yahoo games.

I cannot even begin to imagine the amount of work adn bandwidth it would take to put games on here.

Games are not what I come here for and I would be frustrated with the inevitable slowing this site would suffer should such an addition be made. Bleh and stuff.

My opinion: If you want games, go to a damn website with games and make a profile there.

If you want vampire information and a growing community: come to the Rave.

Apologies for my vehemence.

Something like the puzzle games for prizes which come along now and again, those are a great deal of fun, but I think that them going on all the time would be ... numbing. It would no longer carry that sense of urgency and excitement, not for me, at any rate. I also think they are too extreme an amount of work to happen frequently

I honestly think that adding tons of games would take away from the site.

This is, of course, merely my $0.02, and you can't even get penny candy with that these days.

not the least important the slowing of the site...

I know it's really frustrating when you have to wait forever for something to load.. and that's bad for the site too because then people may not come on as much..

but maybe a couple of simple games, for when your waiting for your forum to get answered or something, is probably alright...

Indeed, I know Cancer does have ideas in mind for games. He and I have spoken about an online RPG/MUD style game before. I'm working on such a system in my free time. I'm making progress, though. :D

I think it's a cool idea. I am amazed already at all this site has to offer; I am never in doubt that it will only improve with age!

Yeah, I wouldn't have anything against implimenting a game or two here on VR as long as it doesn't deter from the true reason why VR exists in the first place.

Meanwhile, while you wait, there is a Database here on VR dedicated to MUD-style Vampire games you can play online. Visit some of them if you feel the need to play with your fellow kindred.

As long as it involves the words "Online" and "Game", I'm down for anything.

For my personal opinion I do enjoy much of this leveling up on profile and think of such as a game so it might be for a small part a good idea and yet it depends of what type do you intend to publish.

Well, there are games coming. It's part of the big overhaul to the site I am working on. In fact, games are required...

Perhaps a better word than game is contest.

Anyway, can't go into it all now. I hate talking about stuff I am still designing. A lot can change between design and implementation.

I will say, Sire's will have a marked advantage at the new VR. If you're level 24+, you should try to hit sire within the next 2 months......

thats great Cancer....a stalking game would be kool...4 or 5 members could be that Higher level vampires....stalking humans in a castle...the castle could be 5 levels ...each level to reach to get secret weapons....just a thought

Well I think that if you want to go play video games ...do so....If you want to be on the Rave....even better....Do not put games on the Rave...That is not the purpose here.

they had brainteasers with awards for the winners when I first started here in July-never knew why they stopped

I haven't really played any on-line games since the days of BBSing. Would they be on those lines? The MUDs are still text based, right?
I'm so out of touch...

I am sure that alot of people would love to see games put on here, but in alot of ways, this site is unique... and i would hate to see it become more of a rpg based site than an information site.

Games in VR eh...why not an on going trivia section...perhaps the rules could be...10 questions posted by someone..lets say someone in charge to head off diputes...the first person to respond with the ten correct answers must come up with 10 more...topics can be anything. and the game can go on for as long as we have imaginations and correct answers.

I like the trivia idea.. it would still keep things on an informative level.

You know what else is cool about that triva idea?

We don't even need to wait for Cancer on that one.. we can set up a simple version on the posts...

However, you'll have to put up with people who post "interesting" for thread posts, and people who don't understand the rules and can't just look up and read them... and...

ya know what.. maybe it's a good idea for Cancer :-) I wonder what kind of games he's coming up with.. :-)

The games that are coming will not be like pogo or yahoo. It'll make sense when it happens.

Let's see, I'm thinking some kind of contest that has to do with the rating system.... Sire's have the most clout on the site, so maybe that's why Cancer wants us to work up to it.. :-)

Actually, creating a game of Vampire Chess that is only 2 player (no player versus computer) is pretty easy. (Well, not easy.. But easier than designing a logic algorithm for the server... And it would consume *tons* of memory)

It also fits well with what I have coming up (player versus player), so I may implement it. But don't look for it for several months.

Well, good. I hate playing against computer. I rather play against someone else. Computers don't think like human. And don't worry about how long it'll take. I'm not going anywhere.

I'll tell you right now, I managed to lose to my twin sister, who thought that the Bishop could move sideways, and drove me nuts with repeated references to the "Castle-looking things" and "Cute little horsie pieces"!

By the time the game ened, I would have loved nothing more than to have taken one of her pawns and shove it up her nose!

Heh. I've managed to beat my friend twice in chess. Funny thing he's a pro and I was a rookie that time. Though really he made two excuses that are true: 1) My little brother was bothering him.lol. and 2) The way I play as how he describes, I make random moves that seems like I don't know what I was doing. So basically, he couldn't read my moves.lol

I played agains a guy like that in high school. He'd spend twenty minutes making each of his moves, and every time I moved, he'd always ask "Why did you move there?" to the point where I shouted "I JUST DID, OKAY?? NOW PLAY THE DAMN GAME!!"

However awful I may be at the game, I'm still better than my friend Leanne. I managed to get her in the 4-move checkmate 5 times in a row!

i also think it would have a certain added appeal because you would have interaction with another individual on here hence you would get to know them really well. and yeah it be fun

but on the flip side that takes work to work it into the mainframe of the site which means more bandwidth would be used .and site might slow down because of it and then theres the money aspect how much would it cost to do it and honestly cancer works pretty hard now to make changes and update it and add would he really wanna add this to his list? it would be alot of work to be honest and if it didnt work then well all the work removing it to .gotta play both sides of the coin lol

A game would be great. Someone who can think of a thrilling concept and appropriate design to fit into VR would certainly earn my respects....

Um....how about go play games with your 1) siblings 2) friends 3) kids. Seriously, the computer really doesn't have to dominate your life.
