I get those to, had some kid ask me what favor was yesterday....a whelp. But when people see that you're an acolyte...assuming they understand what it means, they may ask you personally. Especially the higher level you are as some of the newbies around here are afraid to go to the admins and Cancer. We also dont' have "WARNING" flashing above our message centers, although it would be nice to have that in the request help section sometimes lol.

It's just something I find myself to be prideful in. I know what i"m doing on this site and I like that people ask me. The more informed people we have here, the better the site can be.

yeah u'd think w/ the links provided in each sections of the Main Menu would be self explanitory. Not to mention the FAQ in Main and in Societies. i mean anyone could figure that out if they could comprehend each section. Seriously.....ask a serious question towards an Acolyte that is not covered in any of the sections. i think i only asked one stupid question since i've joined. but the rest of 'em were just questions on things that i really needed help with that i couldn't find info on.

Wow....harsh crowd. Yes, they should look around before asking questions, but why get angry? Just tell them that everything they need to know is in the Main Menu to the left of the screen in the red tabs.....then if they come back after that....proceed with the smacking....lol

Perhaps you should consider adding a section to the FAQ for questions like:

- I just messed with Satan's plans/got possesed by my D&D manual/summoned Osiris and he's after me, what do I do?

Yes some questions are not the best but I try to answer everyone I get.By doing this it makes them see we Acylotes will help them.

I was guilty a time or two for I think stupid questions. I think perhaps a list/book..or thread posted for the most stupidest ppl /questions..Hell some are soo damn funny. I have learned much, and everyone so far has been truly open and nice..Thanks all..

I thought I was the only one frustrated with dumb ass questions too. I have answered way too many stupid questions, and refuse to answer anymore!

as a newcomer just a few months ago, I used some of the inteligence that was given to me and I READ alot before I ever asked a single question.
Some people just arent that bright. Only the gods know how some of them are even smart enough to turn on the computer, let alone operate it.
I feel for all of you who have had to deal with stupid questions, but consider why cancer set up the status system as he did, ex; whelp ( a suckling pup who knows nothing). It is like raising children, to us who know where everything is and know about things, the questions seem stupid, but to a child who doesn't know any better the stupid questions are the only way they are going to learn. Such as with alot of the people here, they know nothing, never been to anything like this before and don't have a fricken clue in hell as to what to do(and yes they can't seem to read either).
Sometimes you just have to take them by the hand, and sometimes when you don't want to answer the questions any more, you just have to take a backseat to it and let someone else do it.
There are stupid people everywhere, sometimes they just like to commune in one spot.

I have gotten dumb questions before to but I try and answer them becuase I remember what it was like to be new here and not know anything.

Have any of you ever been shopping in a store where you don't work and have people ask you where they can find things? Happens to me all of the time. I guess all of the years that I worked in retial left a brand on my forehead.

It comes with the territory. Accolyte or not, people see levels and they assume that you know it all. Laziness is also a factor. Why would many bother to read the manuals and faq's when they can just ask a question? Anyway, I'm sure it's not that big of a deal and you can always just refer them to the places where tehy are supposed to get their answers before asking the questions.

people ask retarted questions...because they are so wrapped up in their stupidity...that they become blind...and don't see what is right in front of their face...it is like...when you put something down...walk away...and forget where you put it...you search all over...but you don't see it...after giving up you ask..no answers...and then you see that it was right in front of you. patience is a virtue...those who give respect earn it...needless to say even though they may be stupid questions it is your job as an acolyte/adminstrator/dominar...and whatever...to help as needed. personally i'd be honored to be an acolyte but whatever...will apply when i can...*sigh*...

I was always told that no question is a stupid question...by my college professors.

Guess there is a difference between them and a former acolyte.

I was always told that you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.

I would expect that new members have some hard times navigating the site at times and to rail againt a supposed "Stupid Question" is counterproductive to VR.

Besides whether or not a question is "stupid" depends on the person who is asked.

You are so right at last someone gets it.

The only stupid question is one that goes unasked. But there are some, we'll say "uninformed" ones that make you want to bash your head against the keyboard.

I still feel though that if one applies for acolyte status that one should expect a certain percentage of what may seem like "d'oh" questions. However, it is still an acolyte's job to assist these members and attempt to help without the newbie feeling that they are dumb for asking.
