Have you often wondered about what you would do if a real life vampire apeared befor you and gave you the choice to join him/her in the immortal life...would you?
probably not i have the kids to think about and if they were to go over aswell then i would be tormented for the rest of time
NO THANKS
I dont know...on one hand its a completely new experience and the life I would love to see...but then again if this life is horrible for me then what would centuries be like???
i think the idea is that of lust love ect
but verry few peaple would actualy go for the idea
Yes I would join them.... The pros outweigh the cons in my eyes...
I would accept, joining those of my kind....and who wouldn't want to see what lies in the future? I agree with Sekmet, the pros definitely outwiegh the cons!
I would. What is mortallity anyways? Waiting to die? We begin to die from the moment that we take your first breath. Life is merely the abscence of death. If we are living to die, I would rather die to live.
I would without a second thought. Perhaps it is my adventurous impulsivity, but I would accept. Immortal...think about it....
And who is to tell me that real vampires are like the movies?
And who is to tell me that he's not someone who's playing with my mind?
If someone told me he's an immortal vampire I would laugh at him.
Lol, I totally agree Death, and Ophelia, that was very profound...and I also agree, life is a very twisted thing. I like your reasoning.
And if I was in a movie I would say yes instantly.
I don't care to end up alone.
Am already alone and mortal so what's the difference?
At least I wouldn't worry cause of my financial probs cause in that case I would send everything to hell and enjoy my immortality vacation.
I also like the power to feal invincibile, powerful and superior.
The debate of mortality or immortality..
For I have found my love, if I could bring him over as well, I think I would accept it. Then we would be together for all eternity.
However, if bringing over my husband was denied? I would gladly surrender myself to be his next prey then live for eternity without my heart...
Yes, I think I would..but only if my family would join me..and only if its when my kids were grown!
But if i had no kids..hell yes i would jump at the opportunity^_^
i would not, what do u do when u've done everything? and is it worth it to lose ones soul?
and what would u do with that kind of power, do u really think u would better mankind. or would u have ur revenge on those mocking u. would not time drive one mad? then u could never enjoy it.
i would have to say id join them
not much would really change for me
i sleep all day an go out all nite anyways but i would love it
id defo give up mortality
The only reason I would give up mortality would be for the amount of knowledge I would gain in the many years to come. You would have a chance to see everything.
*sigh*
I would as well. No thoughts for me either. Theres no reason, right now, why i shouldn't. Nothing holding me back... but ask yourself this:
DO YOU PLAN ON SPENDING ETERNITY ALONE?
well i guess i dont know much about being immortal but look... u dont wanna be a vampire. its not like the films or the books.... or i guess it is in a way.... but.... trust me. you wont like it
I would use my immortality for both good and bad(revenge).I like to be fair :)
Perhaps.. If I had nothing else in this life that was expecting me to Die ..I might go for Immortality..
I would look and the vampire and tell, him/her, that I will be watching them. Then if I am intrested I'll think about it. the only things that are immortal are Idea's and famous people.
I don't know...this is a hard one. I've always thought about becoming a vampire...but I have found the love of my life, and I wouldn't want to leave him, and I'm not sure the vampire life would be for him, and I wouldn't want him end up hateing me. And if there are vampires, and they cannot go out in the light for as long as they would like with out it burning, I probably would say no, because I know I really don't like the light because I am already very sensitve to it right now, but It's nice. I don't know If i'd be able to take centuries of life. Maybe I would. Right now my life is just turning around into being good, but I have so many wounds that will not heal, and if I become a vampire, All of that greif will stay with me, and I'm sure being a vampire I'll lose alot of friends over the centuries, and that would be to much for me, I don't think I'd be able to live through all of the greif.
OF COURSE!~!!!!!!!! I'm waiting for the moment since I was born . I would give up anything to be immortal.
i have an immortality complex so that should answer your question
Me I'd jump at the chance....I know there is dealing with death of loved ones and such but just think of the wonders you'd see in the next 200 years. I think that would make it worth while
I`d say yes without even hesitating beacause I`d rather keep going on and on for years then face what has yet to come. I`ve watch poeple close to me die slowly because of a medical problem and I don`t want to know the feeling that your about to die and have no clue what will happen after you do. So yeah I`d rather live on for ever.
no because you would see every one die and you intern would eventualy wish to die but could not
No I would not. I couldnt live and watch my children die and the people I love the most. It would kill me inside and I would either go into a deep depression or a very hate filled rage and kill lotsa people. Either way not a good outcome.
To be or not to be...immortal. It's a very interesting concept which poses some questions of it's own. Would the person in context be able to handle the test of time mentally and/or socially? In a rapidly evolving world, it's hard enough for mortals to keep up with all the changes brought about socially, politically, mentally and technologically. Let's talk about socially first shall we? How can someone who is ageless keep any kind of long lasting relationships with mortals? If five or even ten years go by, no questions will be asked of the person in question about aging...but what about twenty to fifty years? When I talk of politics, I mean more so of the small sort...like jobs for instance. It is nice to think that some creature, who has been alive for centuries, could amass a great deal of wealth...especially anywhere from 200 years previous to now. But how realistic is it that someone could amass any kind of substantial wealth, could go unrecognized...especially if that wealth is made rapidely. What about the average joe/jane schmoe, how long could he/she conceive of keeping a job for any real length of time? Now let us highlight the mental aspect of being immortal. Kind of hitting back on the social issue a bit on that one. How could one cope with never being able to keep lasting bonds, to know that everyone around them that they know and love will one day die for whatever reason? What about always having to be on the move because of this reason? How could one not lose their sense of self and become detached? After some time, how could this person not become so detached from their former humanity, that they don't even know how to act or be human? Now what about technology? Hell, I just got a cell phone the other day and it took me about a day and a half just to figure the damned thing out...and that is simple tech. I can't even imagine the things such a being would have to keep up with, cope with, and/or avoid just to make due in society. In closing, I think that if such a thing were possible, it would take someone of extremely strong will, character, constitution, etc to actually handle being alive for so damned long without deciding to just end it all. I can't personally say whether I have what it takes...nut I think I could give it a valiant try sometime in my mid 30's...I'm having too much fun just being mortal right now to even consider.
it depends weather or not my best friend would join me. i mean hes the closest thing that i have to a brother my own age and has always been there for me, i dont think i could leave him or watch him die.
i would deffinately, and the part about bettering mankind, hehe, i would no longer be a part of mankind, i would destroy my creator and build my own damnation
If we were to disect this question, only the Soul itself is immortal-- not the vampire itself.
However, if I were able to -recall- my past lives easily, I'd love to.
Yes i would and i have thought about this at various times of the day/night and i have children...............
As soon as I read this thread I was like hell yeah I'd be immortal. All the knowledge I'd get from living all the years and I'd get to see everything and once I did see everything I'd go and look again. I've always wanted to be immortal. and so yeah i would jump right up and be like make me immortal baby!
to tell the truth.................................................... i would say yes as long as i could bring my dog. lol just playing if i had a choice i would say yes for i would love to see what the furture holds and just think if i fell in love love and i bite him he will be with me FOREVER!!!!
I would have to say yes, even with no other benefits other than immortality, I am very curious as to how this world or we as human being may turn out
i wouldnt take it because life would no longer have a meaning. but for some reason i would too. i have mixed feelings about the subject!
Honestly I don't think I would. I would hate to watch close friends wither away in front of me. Besides I kinda like the daytime as well.
A tough choice.....our lives as they are with daylight and all we would enjoy in it; famiy and friends...for some an easy choice, for others not so easy.
I have no children nor a man in my life, but would worry about my mother and sister and two special friends...
As I feel this morning, I would say yes . . .
perhaps another time, I would say no.
I think I would like to. I'm too curious about the future not to. And when I would be bored, I would step into the sunlight.
Honestly to lose the ones that I love would be death. There are many that can love again and again I am just not one. So I think that I would not. I mean it would be amazing to be immortal but there would be to much pain for me to bear.
No, I don't think I would. It would hurt too much to see the people I care about whither and die in front of my eyes.
to be quite honest i think my answer would be yes more than no. why? power, lack of certain emotions, and u can always end ur immortality if u get fed up by either getting slain or walking into direct sunlight lol
then again....a life without feeling those wonderful emotions? i mean ok....there are unwanted emotions as well but its what makes life good to live...
i dont know really....but the idea is a really attractive one for me.
If a Hollywood type vampire would offer me immortality, I think I would take it; but given the fact that I`ve never heard of such type of vampire in real life, i have my doubts.
Immortality would be extraordinary, even though as a vampire there are certain disadvantages...
My answer would have to be yes. The lack of a religion leaves death before me a terrorizing thought that when I die only the darkness and then nonexistance. It's a little scary to think that all my thoughts, all my dreams, would suddenly evaporate like water once my body could no longer harness it. Not only that but I'm not exactly tied to anything that a fake identity as a vampire wouldn't be able to grant me. My family is not exactly the best in the world, though they aren't the worst. I just simply do not love them. My friends are there, but I can hardly call them friends at all. There is no boyfriend or lover, all hopes of that are basically smoke. I'd probably be suspicious as to why the vampire would ask me and sit there pondering if his motives. Besides, I would love to see how the world falls the pieces and then begins to build back up. That's just how history is. Something rises....something falls. I'd love to see how the last great nation, the US, falls. Will it cave from the inside out by it's own hands or will the enemies it makes take it down brick by brick or will the nation debt force it to sell itself like some great international prostitute? And if immortality gets to be too much then I can just jump into a fire pit on a christmas morning. Even the immortal aren't gods.
I enjoy all acpets of vampires EXEPT immortality. It would be lonely to live froever in this form. I would never change, never evolve. You could say that a vampire needs no evolution, but if you have reached the top, then the journy is over, and you have no reason to live.
if one asked me i would say what do you think then bare my neck for him to bite me if he wishes. i think it would suck to be human i dont like sun to much
As long as I can bring AshNight into it with me.
Sure.
But if I couldnt I would ask him to finish me off.
I would say yes, because if I said no he may just kill me
I would join in a heart beat...lifes too great now to get old and die...and it would never become boring if I couldnt die...i could get into all kinds of stuff and not worry about hell...
Easy decision. A definite yes. Some might worry about watching loved ones die, etc. but for me, that kind of thing happens in a normal life-span, its hard, but nothing I couldn't handle. So, not really much of a downside IMO
-Shadowlore
Depends.
Would it just be mortality.
I dunno, the ability to die is sort of a blessing. We all have the ability to end our own lives. SOme people take advantage of this "get out of Jail Free card" so to speak. My mortalilty gives me the chance of a better "life". I know that I don't always enjoy my life as it is. But the thought that at some point I no longer have to deal with the pain emotions and such really seems like nice rest. Besides, who would want to live, even after the sun explodes...
We are all already immortal it is only our flesh which dies but our soul lives on.
Would i give up everything for immortality? Well that's some question and a good one at that. My answer would be yes, not because my life is so horrible that i have to get away from it. Quite the opposite really. I feel that no matter how hard I try to pull myself away from humanity in many ways I find myself being pulled back. To become Immortal would give me the ability to pull away and learn more things that most would have only dreamed.
If I was given the choice of giving up my mortality I probably would because I want to see the world is going to become, what the human race will end up acomplishing in a century or so, and just to live to see all that I might be able to.
My life is full of the preperations to avoid the second death (the death of the soul) But I await the day I my corporeal form is shed.
if i had to opportunity to give up mortality, i think that i would.
Yes, I would join, to me there is nothing real big in my life as it is
i really don't know. many people would say yes in a beat, but i have no idea if i would or not. having to live on this world forever would completely and totally suck. this world is a horrible place at times, but at others it has it's shining moments. if i could spend it with the one that i love then yes, but if i couldn't than i'd rather die
i really don't think i could turn down a chance at immortality. because like the Iron Maiden song goes "only the good die young, evil seems to live forever"
Immortality would be a great thing, however, I couldn't do it. I am sure there would be a point in time that I would just want to completely disconnect any notion of feeling.
I wouldn't be able to handle watching my family and friends pass away. Make new friends and family, out living them. It would be a horrible redundant life in my opinion.
When my time comes, my time will come...That I can live with.
Nicely said MrCrow..I agree. The idea of immortality is much more romantic to think of than to live.
- D
True, the notion of immortality is in fact romantic. I couldn't have said it better myself.
Lets look at a few things on this subject.
Most people also associate power when they think of immortality. To be immortal never implies power. It is what it is, to live eternally.
A life sentence behind bars seems eternal for some. They will tell you they hate every moment of it, it is redundant. A day seems like a year and a year seems like an eternity.
Sure you could have everything you want in life while immortal, riches, all the things you have ever wanted, but what fun would it be?
It cheats the very foundation or our lifespacn was built upon.
Some immortals would probably resort to killing out of sheer boredom. Even that would be horrible...If caught they couldn't execute you. So they will just lock you away. An eternal life sentence within a life sentence. Game over.
Yes, it is rather romantic, isn't it?
It depends, are they offering life as a mortal, never growing old, never falling sick? Or are they offering to make me a vampire?
Either one is a prison.
The knowledge that my days are numbered drives me. If I didn't have that boundary on my life, I don't know what I would do. I don't know if I could hold on to my morals any longer...
I'd choose a life of meaning over a long life any day.
Well said Salem. I couldn't agree with that statement more.
Thankyou, it is a great topic though isn't it?
I love having to question things.
Yes, I think I would… but only if my family could join me…
Have I wandered about it, yes I would have to say most definately, but to answer the question as to if I would take it if I was offered at this point in time I would be trying to predict the future if I gace an answer to that, to take or refuse the offer would be something I could and would not answer until if or when it was to happen. If it was offered right now however, I would have to decline as I have so much to mortally live for.
If I had the option I would surely chose to join him/her. I have often sat in quiet and contemplated this very question. So much of their world appeals to me that I don't think I would worry about the consequences. Its another way of life, and I also agree with the afore mentioned. If I were to refuse that would be the total end, where as if I accept it is only a partial, with that said I would be able to remain protective over my family and make sure none of them are ever bitten or given the option.
if my love was immortal i would become that way to be with them once i am of the right age i dont want to be illegal or old and live forever
It really depends on what I would have to give up. I cannot abandon the one's I love just for an eternity. Besides...you never know if he's violent or not. So I'd have to say no.
that true you do have to think about what you would give up and i like violence to a point-angry face at stupid poeple i am happy your in jail-
I've dealt with loved ones dying in this life. I still love them. The chance at immortality would allow you to persue every goal, every dream, without fear of running out of time. Of course, there are some considerations:
For instance, do I get to retain a youthful body? I mean, I don't want to live forever but age, nonetheless... nothing good about being 400 years old and looking/feeling the part but just not dying.
Now if we are talking pure vampy-goodness, like in the deal.... I'm in all the way.
I could deal with a little highlander immortality as well.
I just don't think I'm up for lich-style immortality. Even if they do make some good air fresheners nowadays.
-Shadowlore
Provided I could bring my closest ones with me to immortality sure!, meeting new people constantly would get boring.
Hmmm, interesting. If it was the option to walk beside my soul mate forever, I would. But, if it meant wandering this earth for an enternity alone, or without him, I wouldn't. I'd gladly rending my soul to it's death.
I have thought about htis many times. I would but only after I finish grad school and assuming my beloved could be with me...but yes. I want to see the world change, history unfold and all that time to read...I would enjoy eternity.
Yes I would as long as my maker would stay with me for as long as we lived...I wouldnt want to be alone for eternity.
Probably not. I want to be with my family and I dont think I can have the time of my life and it will be boring after being 19 for eternity. I wanna be able to drink alchohol. I know, blood... but I like alchohol too!
i would miss my family.......i think but then at least they dont have too much drama going on with them
Ok..Let's just suppose that the movie Vampires exist. And that one could have immortality..well it's not really immortality because they can die as well under certain circumstances. But anyway. If they existed Hell yeah I would go for it. But I don't want to be old..hehe..
I like who/what I am w/o question. And after this shell that we possess now dies, the spirit I believe moves on anyway. So in essence we still move on w/immortality.
if i could have a year first to grow out my hair and get in shape then yes.
to me that is a question not even worth asking i would go in a heartbeat lol
I don't think I would. There are great many things to learn by dying and being reborn in another place.
You have all read my thoughts on this from earlier. Another view I wanted to pose, is my immortality comes by spreading my gene during my lifespan. Then someday they will reproduce and the same will happen from there.
Thats all the immortality I need. The satisfaction of knowing my children will have kids of their very own, and their children's children will one day further my very gene.
It is powerful. It is life done the right way.
Hell Yes I would give immortality up!
I would become a surfing vampire. I am not kidding. What would I have to fear if I couldn't die. The undertow would make me laugh. Sharks that want to eat me, I could kill. And I could become the best surfer ever.
And it would never get "boring" or weird like some of the book vamps; it would always be that search for the ultimate wave. World travel, beaches, waves and blood...I would be in heaven, man.
I'm not sure if i would go for the whole immortality thing...it really depends on somethings like...wether or not vampires are totally for destuction or wether or not they are peaceful...and to live forever is a curse because you have to suffer watching the people you love die around you...could you do that!? i dont think i could!! But to live forever is also a gift...to see what the future has installed for the human race....to see how we create the future for our children & our children's children...i agree with some of you...it might not be as good as you think...but then again the idea of living forever is very tempting!
Wow this is a hard one. I do believe I more then likely wouldnt tho . I wouldnt want to outlive everyone I
Wow this is a hard one. I do believe I more then likely wouldnt tho . I wouldnt want to outlive everyone I
Wow this is a hard one. I do believe I more then likely wouldnt tho . I wouldnt want to outlive everyone I
that was........everyone I knew and loved( dont quite know what happened to my text) lol
I would be tempted only because I don't want to leave the ones I love behind when it's my time. However the flip side of that is watching them die. So I'd say no. Part of living is knowing that you only have a limited time to do the things you want and love- otherwise it'd be no fun.
Besides how many times do we say "Same shit, different day" when someone asks us what's up? Do you really want to say that for all eternity?lol
well i dont think i'd like it seen as i'd see my loved ones die and all... but hmm its interesting. im sure some people would like it.
Unfortunately, I think I would make the choice for the simplest of human reasons: survival. As in, choosing between an uncertain future but continuing or certain death.
I don't think I'd have a problem with the daily maintenance. Being a medic, I've seen plenty of blood and gore to not be too bothered by it all. Maybe the brutality would bother me if I had to go that route to feed.
Now, my choice would be made easier if I was given the option to have my wife join me. Neither of us have children, so spending forever with one another seems like a good thing in my book. Could do alot worse...
Of course, she'd probably resent me eventually, once the novelty wore of and the reality sets in. She wants to give me children. Becoming an immortal blooddrinker with an adverse allergy to sunlight would sorta preclude an extended family (unless we adopt, a whole other set of issues).
So, answering the question. I say yes for two reasons: 1) simple, instictual survival and 2) the chance at immortal love with the woman I adore and my best friend.
Regards,
Michael (aka Charon)
the answer is NO. there was a time when i would have said yes without thinking of it. without doubting my decision, but being immortal is more a curse then a gift.
immortality means being alone. see those you love die and dwell alone through the ages. i realized that the day i had to burry the human i loved most on this earth. being immortal is a curse if you cant share it with the one you love. this will never happen as there is a price to pay for immortality
if my SO turned over then i would too to be with him forever
I would never give up my mortality. Limited time is what gives value to this life.
If it wasn't for my daughter I would do it in a heartbeat. I've been fascinated with vampires since I was a little girl.
I would have to say no to this one...forever existing...you will see family members and friends disapper over the years...then you are left alone...why give up what was givin to you?
