Why do you think so many people are interested in the Vampire lifestyle?
I believe mine is from a past life or lives.

By vampire lifestyle, are you refering to someone who uses fictional vampire imagery to create a vampiric look and to live a fictional vampiric lifestyle, or to someone who is attracted to the idea of drinking blood?

It's for some people who think that the vampire lifestyle is for them some are onto it for other reasons. me i happen to like the look and also the way things work out when you do have people who admire you or somthing about how you present it in front of them or in the community to which you maybe from.

What interest me into vampire lifestyle is alot, first the style, like clothing, black, classical, pirate shirt, long nice pants, cloak, long hair, the feeling of being able to subdu or being subdu, the link to one another, the bond, sleeping at day and waking at night, jewerely, also the silence, yes the silence. And a bit of lust (smirk)

I think the lifestyle is mostly for posers who want to be cool. I think the ones who are living the real life of a vamp are the psy vamps and blood drinkers and thats not a fashion trend like the posers.

I am not aposer I just reply to what was ask, in the thread itself, as to what i like about the lifestlye.

The so called "look" of the vampire does draw alot of people into their fascination with vampires, usually kids who either want to look cool, or to be feared.. Im not drawn into the look, I do not dress like a vampire, act like a vampire, but I do believe in vampires and respect them.

You must admit that good clothes, and a striking style help; both with the blood and energy donors.

Study Psi vampirism more closely Emma. It does have a great deal to do with past lives. Even if you have not reached that point in your personnal awakening. I, myself am a true outsider. I'm too gothic to fit into normal societies groove yet I'm not gothic enough to be included into goth society. Always caught in the middle. But in the end, truth be told, I am much more the personification of what they strive to be than they ever could hope to achieve.

I was first drawn in by the mystery that surrounds Vampires. But I am learning so many things I never imagined since joining this site, that I would say now it is the knowledge that keeps me interested. I never dreamed that so many intelligent people were interested in the Vampire lifestyle and genre. I am fascinated by the creativity I have found here.

I don't dress in black, except for work, because that's our uniforms, and I don't do the whole Goth thing, but I am learning that this life style is about so much more than just the way someone looks or even acts. I feel like a kid in a candy store sometimes because so much knowledge is just here for the taking.

I always thought that vampires and witches were just scary creepy beings. Now I know that they are beings of great intelligence and interesting character. I am no longer terrified, but more mesmerized.

I got into the goth thing in highschool and late teens, but was visably goth, in a more grown up way, now im 27 and when i want to, when i can with out hurting my kids life But not alll goths are vamps.. the reverse applies, i enjoy the old music, the new music, heck, i even like country. But when i put on my corsset and my cool cloths and am out for a night on the town, everyone who looks at me really is just feeding me. Litteraly. As to the blood drinking, i do it everyday, to a Very small extent upon my self, i havnet felt comfortable since my last partner like me, to do it on some one else. Id love to be able to get my husband into it, but he has had bad experiances with us biters, blood drinkers, and witches. Although i like to remind him that He MET me Gothed out to the extreme.. I have known a lot of people who used to hang with me and really live the lifestyle and now there like all... bigger sell outs than me, some of them dont even admitt what they do when asked and such.. i get that tho.. dont hold it against them, if i didnt have such a cool family, all the way back to my grandma, who knows and supports me. I prolly would have buckled too and been pushed into the goth closet.. but in the end i got into it because it made me feel. It still dose, feeding dancing, playing being all those things. To feel alive for me is a good thing, and thats what i feel like really lead me to and kept me on this vampric lifstyle and goth attitude.. If this is too rambeling and annoying, sorri, i tend to do that.

But, a herd still offers safety in numbers. A herd of black sheep allows the individual to express themselves, but at the same time, gives them the safety of knowing they have others to protect them as they travel down thier paths.

We all wish to find ourselves, some of us choose to be bubbly and poppy, some of us macabre and grave. To each their own.

Your metaphor of the black sheep is true, in a way ,the gothic and vampire community would be a herd of black sheep. However, say a politician or socially more accepted (say a socialite such as a Hilton) and set by conventional society were to proclaim this to be their path, would they not be a white sheep in a black sheep herd, as an invert of the classic standard?

The vampire lifestyle has always attracted me. Past lives also affect my attraction to this certain lifestyle. It seems like i'll never let go.

I agree with all the folks here who say that it's the idea of appearing to be bad, since it seems today's culture portrays being so to be the "in" thing to do. Countless movies show tough-guys and badass ladies on the screen kicking butt. It is todays version of hero, which back in the day was a clean cut, nice, proper gentleperson of lore.

Personally, I am usually a very nice person and often overly friendly, yet working around such younger people these days, I have to assume a more aggressive image, just to fit in with the crowd...

As a kid growing up I always was teased for looking nice and friendly. I was so affected by this, that I now try to dress in dark clothing, leather, etc... mainly to give the image of tough or mysterious. It's all show, really.

I must say i am not fascinated by the look of vampires but more by the history and where we come from. Though i believe many people enjoy the look because most vampires are always yound and beautiful looking

Hollywood has played a part. People see the movies and the vampire is immortal, nice looking, urban, witty.And women are attracted to him! In short a perfect guest at a party.

The definition of Goth that I prefer is that it is an attitude: I have looked at death in the eye and not turned away, I am not afraid, and I will live my life to the fullest; because I am not afraid of dying.

The black skirts/nailpolish/eyeliner are an affectation, you don't need them to feed, but when people come up to you every day on the train and say, where did you get that coat, how can you not indulge.

That, Macabre, depends entirely on how deeply they convert to the lifestyle. But you are right, no matter how dyed in the wool they may be...the roots still show eventually.

Also, two things I find funny.

One, most people here get very very riled up at the mention of the dread Hollywood Vampire....and yet, constantly reference how they look, speak, act....which, well....can only really come from a visual/auditory environ such as a movie.

Secondly....something that isn't alive having a lifestyle. But that's funny to me because I like puns. Donteatmyface.

If they are playing the part they are just looking for attention. It would be real hard to just look at someone dressed up or dressed down and point out in fact that they are a vampire.

I am attracted to the idea due to the mystery and romance that stems from the legends. I also feel that, in some way, it has ties to my past-lives. I am not sure how, and that is a large part of the reason I am here.

well actually i dont live after the common vampire lifestyle as i have my own... i guess people tend to the fashion and darkness

I would probably igonore you whilst I play some computer games. You would have to cry yourself to sleep, because I will still be on my computer when you beging to get sleepy. Is this romantic? But, if I want to feed, you better sit and be quiet. See, it is all influenced by books and movies. I am nothing like that, but when I am in need, it is everything like that. I can't see why people wait around for those moments, because it sure as hell isn't a 24/7 thing.

i think people are wanting to learn more about vampires lifestyle, because vampires are the ones who basicly started the whole goth, demons, spells, curses, black clothing( the main color) and things of that nature. thats one of the reason why i believe people what to know about vampires

I believe that it comes from early childhood,...ever since I could remember my mom asking me what I want to be for Halloween, and 99.9% of the time my answer would be "Dracula". This carried on over into Adulthood, and now I'm much more the Vamp. I've always wanted to be.

speaking as a real vamp many of these replies offended me. there is much more to us than just the look and the blood drinking. we are not all like you see in the movies. we are much much more than that. not everyone can be a vampyre. anyone can be turned but it isnt the same. we are caring and do have feelings. we feel joy anger and sadness just like anyone else. we have been around much much longer than any human yet we do not ask for anything but to be left alone in our own world.

What exactly is a vampire lifestyle? Can anyone whose even given a fairly logical theory say the "lifestyle" has been comfortable or......? Says who? No vamp told me that. That being aside as the joking too...Hollywood is hthe biggest science project going on vamps - but they are quacks. The back alley MDs that slice up out history and turn the world against us. Clothing really matter. Some people just dig the dark threads some are even preps!!

I think the look is appealing to people, it is certainly how many of us feel comfortable presenting ourselves for whatever reason. I do think it is a small part of something much larger. It helps us to identify with those who are like us.

The lifestyle for me personally is much deeper. It becomes about the creature you are truely meant to be. I've lived my life in the goth scene and have never had a moments regret about the path I've chosen to follow. I can't see that I ever will.

Then there is the blood-lust involved, the energy exchanges, the dark creepy nights that we call home. Also there is a certian pleasure derived from the unnecessary fear the eminates from the straights. It only seems to fuel the bliss and makes me laugh sometimes.

Society views us with distaste and shifting eyes. We continue to grow and evolve as a culture, with no care for what others think. Free to explore the pleasures and desires of our hearts. Unchained from the standards, morals and values that some seek to ram down our throats.

I believe it is because many find it to be very dark...yet romantic.

I think it is a way to state that you are different. Maybe arrogant, considering others as prey. Being superior, mystical and immortal. Who without a vanity complex would not want to be?

Far too many people run around doing whatever pleases them and it's apparent. I wouldn't want people to restrict themselves to the point of opression but to have no manners, no class, no self-control, and to parade around condoning evil is just horribly disturbing. I enjoy the artistic experiences of the vampire lifestyle. whether paintings, literature, clothing, or what have you. It all has a quality of such fine poise about it, it is nearly hypnotic to me, and often it paves the way for my own artistic workings and even helped me build the foundation of my astral temple.

I feel drwan to this whole thing, I believe, due to a past life. I have wanted to do a regression to find out more on this, but could'nt be any happier than being in a room with only candle-light. Been this way my whole life.

Mainly because people probably think that the life style is beautiful and it attracts them to it.

Tv and people making it seem like it is the newest fad! When in actual reality, the vampire lifestyle really has been around all along. Just people amped it up a bit. I am nocturnal, I love sleeping during the day. I really do not like the sun at all. There are alot of certain traits in the vampire lifestyle that come out naturally in most. I chose to live my lifestyle my way. There is no label for it, but I guess it can fall under this sort of thing.~NFA

I've been interested in vampires and the vampiric lifestyle since I was very young. My mother was so concerned about this obsession that she repeated over and over again that there was no such thing as vampires. I have fought that idea completely and I think it's part of why my interest in vampires is so strong. It's something about the unknown, the mysterious, the idea that our most basic instincts to hunt and kill could be a primary way of living... the vampire lifestyle is just intriguing to many people.

other then the vampire that partake in the everyday vampire lifestyle i beleive that people want to be part of this lifestyle because vampires although frowned upon have lots of respect from the world...so its sort of like a survival instinct minus the instinct...for example...vanurable animals most of the time have a form of camoflage that helps them from being eaten by their preditor...well apply this to everyday life and people...if the person is vanurable in life and feels that the world is out to blah blah blah...i think you get the point...but that is only directed toward people that "mask" themselves behind our what seems to be normal life...

oh and you got to remember we also have a certain mystery about us that people are interested in even if they try not to be...i read something above that mentioned mesmerized...well if fact that could possibly be true...they could be entranced by our lifestyle and feel drawn to it without the slightest knowledge of what exactly they are doing...it could be a curiousity killed the cat type of thing...haha...only we are better then cats

I love the poshy Vampiric lifestyle where are vamp is so poshy and well educated that when he enters a room everyone looks at hius person and say wow. plus vampires have a high level of manners.

Memories from other lives, I think.
Some think it's just disgusting with blood and such, others liiiike it. It can't just be a personality, some discover the vampiric lifestyle late in their lives.
I think that's because the memories need different time to grow inside.

My initial attraction was actually with mythology. When I learned of Vlad and Countess Bathory, my interests were drawn closer. Both intellectually and physically I am drawn to vampirism, as you don't see many (real life) stupid vampires walking around. Physically, I do suffer from Iron deficiency anemia, so I have always craved blood. I would, as a child, request that they leave my steak bloody as possible, and my mother would cringe. Later I found out that there was a logical explaination for the cravings, as I was lacking sufficient amount of iron, which the blood seemed to supply me with.

I think it has to do w/ the general fasination with things that are exotic and unknown. I also think that the hollywood portrayal of vampires makes many people see it as an interesting and exciting lifestyle. This is not to say that the hollywood portrayal is anything like what it is really like to live as a vampire.. but i do think it sparks curiousity into people about what living like a vampire would be liike.. and then there are just those of us who love blood.

When ppl here are mentioning the vampire 'look' and 'dressing like vampires' - I think they are either copying Hollywood's costumes or other people (who are probably copying Hollywood anyway)

If the info in the 'what is vampire' section is right, I don't think they had the ability to make pirate shirts, frilly clothes in 125 AD.

I think the lifestyle has to go deeper than clothes, it has to be the way of life - the way of thinking - the total belief

I agree with Karnstien. While there has always been some facination with Vampyres the current growth of it has a lot to to with hollywood and it is for the most part just a fad.

and TV. a few years ago we had Buffy and Angel romanticising Vampirism for kids - then we had Charmed turning them all into Wannabe Wiccans. anyone want to hazzard a guess for the next trend?

I think people are interested because It's not the norm, and it's something that's "forbidden" socially. So some people see it as a form of rebelling, while others just want to experience something differant

My guess is a fad over Paris Hilton, my god thats horrible. Anyway I completely agree because it is un-acceptable socially many do see it as a way a rebellion the danger comes from those who are not either Vampyres or those with actual working knowledge going and getting involved in activities which could realy hurt them. I try and educate people on Vampyism not ask them join a hunt.
