I know most people belive that demons are evil but is there a posibilty that there are good demons as well?

Depends on the belief system that you have, if you follow the church belief, then no. Demons are the epitome of evil, hence the name. But for myself, I believe that there are both good and malevolent spirits out there in this world and in the next plane of existence. Whether you want to give them titles, of angels and or demons, it is up to the individual.

No, there is no such thing as good demons. If there are, they're not really demons.

Maybe they can be different levels of evil? Like, there are the pickpocketing demons, then there are the ax-wielding murderer demons, etc.

Bad or good, demons are needed for us to see what we are doing right or wrong in our lives. I believe there might be some form of good or neutral demon. There needs to be a balance in all things.

I think demons, like anything else, have the ability to make choices. They might be able to choose to be "good" or "bad" and they just tend to choose, however lightly or extremely, the latter.

I'm not sure myself as I have never heard of a good demon. I guess that it could be possible.

Good and evil is based on personal beliefs and actions- While I believe being a demon is technically a thing of specie and status. If you believe demons are things with superpowers or contorted forms that must do evil things to be considered a demon - then by your description it is evil. If you believe demon is a specie then it is possible to be outcast and be a "good" demon. Also if you believe that "demon" is a ranking among evil creatures then yes demons are evil. You can then have two identical beings -one who does evil and is a "demon" the other does good and I have no name for that.

First off, Lucifer is not a bad angel. Lucifer, Satan, they just said "No," right? Then why aren't we finding ways to remove our small children from this earth, they say it all the time. And if saying "No" isn't so bad, and this is what created Hell and demons, then they are not so bad either. IMHO

i belive that fallen angels are angels who where good but turned bad and that risen demons are demons who turned good but they are still a demon no matter what just instead of evil they are good.

i hate to just repeat what others say .. but i too believe that by definition a "demon" is evil, but that there is a possibility for different DEGREES of said evil.

I think darkflashfire's idea makes sense. Why wouldn't they be able to choose? Supposing that demons could do what everyone thinks, all this stuff that involves terror and evil, why not suppose that for once they just might actually be able to decided whether or not they will?

I have to say that if you use demon, most will picture evil first. Spirits and demons are totally different things. I think they are evil and therefore given they're just name. When you speak of spirits, you might be using a term to clump together groups of the occult that don't belong together.

I think that demons can do good things but I'm not sure if they can be good them selfs. I guess it's all in the way one looks at it.

well a good friend told me soon after i posted this that all thing have a yin and yang good and evil so to speak and i belive thats true and thats where i got this idea from becouse i allways hear people talking about demons as evil monsters or something like that.

I always thought that Demons were a symbol of evil and that Angels were a symbol of good. But I could be wrong lol.

I dont think all demons are bad, i think people make demons look bad...

"Demon" was the name given to evil entities . . . if it is not an evil entity, then it is not truly a demon. Unless you think demons are a species rather than a form of energy, which I do not.

A demon is described as a malevolent spirit. So, without the nature of evil a spirit is not a demon.

as for what i know demons are exsitingly evil..... as for going to good demons Hmmm i would not think so

the word demon itself means evil, and most of the populare saying related to the demons means bad or wrong doing. The word itself also has a bad connotation, and a feeling of not good at all. So I think there is no good demons.

I love my demons..and much enjoy summoning them, invoking, evoking..non polarity..all is good.

i know alot of books show demons has been good as well, but some people belive they are good but they test people to see if they are evil themselves.

Good Demons, don't really think they exist. To me, Demons are and will always be evil.

Keeping in mind that the "church" is what defined "demons" in the first place, but if you do research on the subject you will find out that the "demons" that are spoken so poorly of are actually "fallen angels", they are put into a negative light because the church did not want their followers to even want to believe or follow them. Even Lucifer, or "satan" if you believe in him, was known as the "Angel of Light" and was supposedly the most beautiful of all the "angels", tis why they "fell" in the first place. So to have an actual evil or good, angel or demon, is all a matter of perspective.

Well..... i think that there are good and bad demons because, they are good and bad people. there are good and bad animals. there are good and bad vampires i would say.

Good demons....well from my experience demons are not always good or bad...they can be helpful and yet evil and others can be of no help atall and yet mild mannered. So the thing you have to determine is what you mean by a good demon.

It is, in my opinion, the religious groups that are so common in this world are the ones that have always stated that demons are evil.....according to many alister crowley was evil and insane.....yet if he was so evil, then why was he known for deciphering the enochian texts (language of the angels) and then using them to summon forth angels and demons?

I feel that the only evil in magick is within the heart of the witch, and to that end i also feel that a demon will only do as it is commanded by a higher power (in a lot of cases witches who hold some sway over the demon's actions). Therefore....if a witch or a demon's master or mistress is evil, and the demon does something evil as commanded, does that make the demon evil or simply a tool of anothers desires?

Imagine for one moment the conflict between the allies and the enemy forces in the second world war....hitler was seen as evil....but were his soldiers evil because they did as they were told? If so, then why did the fighting stop on christmas day on the frontline in 1942, 1943 and 1944 so that both sides could exchange gifts and play football?

i always thought demon was the Bad. that if there were good demons, they wouldnt be called demons. there must be another word. (like angel but is there another word for a good guy demon? i dont think so)

It's possible that they are merely dimensional travellers, and people just shortened it down to demons because they were unable to comprehend such a thing all those centuries ago.

It is in all that it does. You see if they help people do goof things then what are they? Risen demons are just fallen angels or just the other way around. I would say that demons are most commonly evil by are standards. But they are not all that way.

This is what might be wanted to look at. Can a demon be made out of positive energy or is it always negative. Can there be creatures of light that are evil and if so can creatures of darkness be good?

A creature strengthened by the light of day but weakened buy it at the same time can that be there?

Think about it. It all leads to what is an evil spirit vs a demon. My main thing is demons are a type of spirit that has been around a while and is more stuck into that way then others. It is a matter of age, but some fallow the same path yet are doing good at the same time (and always have).

I suppose it would depend on the individual definition of good . One persons good is anothers evil , and vice versa . I personaly think demons, and angels are forged like weapons , for one reason or another , with one purpose intended . Essentially they are tools , not good or bad . Each has a purpose , some darker than others .

I've never hread of good demons as well only evil....ones like satan.....

As to the posting in regards to Demons, I think that a balance must exist. I do not know much about demons but as far as I know much of the demons I have heard of are bad. Unless you speak of a good demon who perhaps could be a fallen angel and has regret his/her wrongdoings and in doing so helps humanity and stands against all that is evil. Just a thought :)

you only have to disguise a concept so very slightly to bring out the racism in some people. demon is just a label used by judaeochristian culture to categorise elemental beings or minor deities and then pile up all the blame on them.

If you break it down to the base of where DEAMONS are to have come from in the form that most think of. They are fallen angels there for yes there could be good and bad demons.

Demons as i know are evil, fallen from grace and sinners. No good in that way of being.

If we spoke with proper english grammar and speech, then a demon could mean nothing else but evil.

well as the original post asks- is it possible to have good demons, does not the christian religion (which started the whole demon idea no?) state that god is all forgiving, anyone can be saved etc? "technically" possible in that case.
I'm sure there either is or has been or will be a demon that will convert just to be difficult.

Personally, I believe that every soul has some evil in it. Demons, Vampires, Humans or the like. It really depends on the extent that evil is taken to.

I believe that they are all just spirits. Giving them the term Demon would suggest that they are of a evil state. Of course it is all how you look at things and to which side of its wrath you are on. If it helps you but hurts another would you consider it evil or good?

I think thats why there is a different name for Demon and angel, they are both spirits but one is good the other is evil so in a way i dont think there would be impossible for demon to be a good demon

I agree, but there are other spirits that are good that aren't angels. It would all depend on your outlook on WHAT a spirit really is.

It all depends on yer belief system and which one you call upon and for what reason.

Demon- bad. As stated several times~ if you are saying this 'being' is good, then it isn't a demon.

To me this is like saying "cat- can some be considered dogs?"

I’ve stated this in other posts about demons. What if demon is merely an acronym for dimensional traveler? People didn’t have the mental capacity or technology to deal with such a thing centuries ago. So you could have had good travelers and bad travelers crossing through our dimension. And just like today’s news all you ever hear about is the bad things that happen. So eventually demons came to be known as evil. I know this thought is way out there in left field, but just something to think about.

Perhaps, not using the word demon...A demon is associated with the mavelolent forces....perhaps spirit or entity would be better...then if using those words....they are good spirits

Good and Evil is a relative term. To me I don't think one thing can be completely good or evil. Now, I don't think that demons will ever be "truly good" but I also don't think ALL demons can be completely evil. I guess it is degrees. We summon demons for help, answers, and guidance. They may want something in return. So good evil... they are what you preceive them

I agree with RavenKnight there is always a good that comes with evil and visa versa.

I think that demons are just like people in the sense that they can choose to do good or evil in any given moment.

imho I don't think that anyone or anything can be evil, I think they can only do evil - then, by their actions, they are called evil

I am guessing that some demons don't actually do much that would be considered, from our point of view, evil and so can't be considered evil.

You are then left with the dictionary definition - which makes you wonder if some of the things called 'Demon' deserve the title.

i agree with what whorelock said especially. i was raised catholic adn demons are fallen angels. so in that sense they are all evil. but a good point to raise is what do other religions consider fallen angels?

I don't beleive there are "good" demons, Demons in myth and any religion (except satanism) are purely evil.

I believe there are some good and evil demons. I'm writing a book about a demon who was murderous and became good by saving a girl. Hmmm. I do believe that demons can be good. Not all have to be bad...

i'm told by some demons that they are good demons it all depens on who they are born to what their influecnes are and so on, just like humans, excpet they are more predisposed to it

as with any question about "good and bad" it's all a matter of personal belief. I believe that there is no "complete good" or "complete bad" because you can't have one without the other. everything, including "angels" and "demons" have both good and bad qualities.
