can u hurt urself when u are dreaming....are we connected to a spiritual plane in are dreams?
Is that why we wake with bruises we cannot explain?
Yes I think you can hurt yourself, while dreaming. If you have a bad nightmare, one can get their heart racing and have a heart attack or a stroke.
people please respond....i need to know...it is of great improtance
thank u
I dont know if its because we are connnected to a spiritual plane or jsut that when your dreaming you just bump into something or sleep walk, and while doing so you run into somthing, its hard to say since your dreaming and dont always remember what you dreamed about let alone bumping something.
In some of my worst nightmares i have woke up screaming and i dont hear myself but i feel as if i was suffocating so i do believe you may be hurt in some form or another.
I think there's a good possibility. I've woken up from nightmares with unexplainable bruises. Before jumping to that conclusion, I'd have to consider the possibility of thrashing into objects and/or bedposts, or perhaps a bedside table. Though, inside I really think it's plausible.
I had a dream the other night and there was a man who went into shock.....he was crying and shaking he couldn't speak for awhile..he went nuts a few minutes later and hit his wrist on something and hurt it badly
I woke up the next morning and i was crying and shaking...my wrist hurt so much and worst of all i couldn't speak...i opened my mouth to speak and nothing came out I was that way for only a few minutes.
what does that mean?
Its totally possible to hurt yourself when you are sleeping. Dreams happen when the outside atmosphere (your room) is disturbed around your body. You are usually semi conscious so your basic motor skills are still....sorta working lol
So if in your dream you hit someone you may very well end up creating a fist and hurting urself lol
Funny, but not the best way to wake up hehe
This has never happened to me personally but it's happened to my boyfriend. Once he told me that he woke up with bruises all over his arms because he was dreaming that he was in a fight... kinda weird concept but I believe. Although, every time I dream, I can't really make contact with anything. Like, for example, there will be a hamburger and I'll want it but when I try to touch it I can't. I have no feeling in my dreams at all.
Getting hurt in dreams can happen. I have had it happen on more than one occasion. I have even woke up in sweat from combating who knows what in the dreams.
not trying to be funny but I dreamt a shark bit my leg in a swimming pool (the fact it was purple was very weird) I woke up n on the same leg I had a real bad pain.
I believe you can hurt yourself in dreams. I usually wake up with random bruises and I sleep on a matress on the floor so very little chance of bumping things. Of course I had a friend that woke up often completely battered and bruised. He always joked he must be a superhero in his sleep...
i think you can i've went to sleep before and woke up with bruises.
That's happened to me before too....I've woken up with a bunch of unexplained scratches and bruises that I'll know for a fact were not there when I went to sleep. It usually happens after nightmares, too.
Yes it can happen. You can look at it and break it down a few way. One point of veiw would just be that you some how inflicked the injury to your self while asleep such as by biting ot hitting a some thing that was attacking you. A second point of view would be that the dream plan reaces to another world so to speak and we interact not only with our sub-con. but with the beings of that would as well.
I believe you can. Many times when I sleep and dream I feel like I never slept. I have had nightmares where I wake up and have bruses on my knucles from puching something in a dream or bruises on my breast b/c of a *naughty* dream;)
I remember one night I went to bed with no marks on my arms then the next morning i had nail scraces all down them and my legs to.I broke some of the skin but not much
yes you can hurt yourself and have bruses it happens to me often, its because ether you move and get hurt, dream an intense dream so intense it makes your brain creates the bruse, or you sleep walk lol
when we dream are we more connected to the dead is that why we beat ourselves in our sleep?
yes it is very possible that one can hurt themselves and others while thy are sleeping. i have hurt myself and have seen others wake up in a pool of thier own blood from scrating themselves. not to count if one sleepwalks that just makes it worse
i would have to say very possible i just had a dream today about eating a strawberry i awoke to pain in my arm here i was biting my arm
I do believe we are connected in our dreams some how. There is a great possibilty of getting hurt in one as well. In our dreams most people think it's just a dream. But of you really think about it. Your seeing images in your mind for a reason. It's for purpose.
I know that we can. I have awoken with cuts that are extremely deep to the point I needed stitches...16 to be exact. Then another time I woke up with so many bruises and cuts that it hurt to even move the slightest inch. I have these dreams often, but not as much as I used to luckily. If you want to talk about this more, feel free to message me.
Sometimes you can reach another plane of existense while asleep, but most of the time I would say the bruises you get from sleeping are caused by bumping into things, sleepwalking, hitting something earlier in the day, etc.
I believe you can wake up with bruises, scratches and other things for many reasons. The obvious being you bumped into something in the middle of the night. Personally, I believe you can accidentally hurt yourself due to making yourself believe what you're seeing in your mind is, in fact, a real occurrence and therefore somehow hurt yourself. Its also possible that we might all be connected in a cut off "universe" (for lack of a better world)...no one really knows for sure. I had a friend who once video taped herself sleeping...but i think that might be a little weird to do and still doesnt explain why you might do something while sleeping if you don't remember your dream later...
wow, i ramble... :D
I think that we do hurt our selves in our sleeps even more so when we are having a nightmare or terror. personally i get night terrors and i have woken up several times with many bruises or scratches that i cant explain where i got them.
They say that if u die in ur sleep u will wake up...if that is so then why isn't it possible to get hurt in a dream and be hurt in real life without moving and stuff....when i sleep its like i am dead...my parents have to check my pulse to make sure i am not.
So is it possible?
Just like my fellow members here in VR, I think that there is a possibility that we may be connected. Of course us as human beings first become logical in terms of wanting to know what caused such bruises, if it was by tossing here and there on the bed or by falling or what not. What I do know is knowing I am awaken and yet I am not fully awake. I can feel my body paralyzed and unable to scream or call for help for that matter.
Has anyone gone through something like this?
oh yes. definately. we either hurt ourselves because are dreams are too intense and we want out, or our body and mind believes the damage being done to our body is real and it appears on our body as it was in the dream. I have learned to control my dream and to wake myself out of them.
I do not like this being in this state when I cannot wake myself up even though somehow I am awake. Or especially if the dream is too real for me where I can smell, taste, or hear.
oh you can for sure hurt yourself during a dream. My brother used to do it nightly he would wake up the hole us with his repeated banging of his head off the wall... upon waking him he said he was in a fight. and i have woken up eith black eyes and broken bones and i know for a fact i was the only one in the room.... but as for hurting yourself on a spiritual level heart attacks and more internal problems yes but not so much physical.
Yeah! I roll out of bed a lot, and also I kick my legs really hard and pull the muscle in my calf and it hurts like hell.
I suppose it it possible, but I have never actually been hurt after a dream. I have woken up crying just like I was in the dream, though.
I think it is possible for a person to get hurt in their sleep, but i am not sure about dreams, the only way you could get hurt by a dream is if you dream about something bad and your heart stops or something like that...
well once in my dreams i hit my hand on the corner of my bed and i had bruises on my hand.
One time i had a dream, quite a bad one, When i woke up i had 3 red marks acorss my chest.
I thinks it's entirely possible.
Not only being physically hurt, but psychologically.
I remember a dream i had where I was standing on the side of a road i know well, and saw a crash in almost slow motion.
For the next week or more, I felt as though I'd lost a loved one in that crash...and almost always felt on the verge of tears.
I've woken up with small twinges of pain in arms and legs after dreaming they were injured, also.
lol. Wish i knew how that worked. Think it's just the power of your mind, making you believe you're still injured? Some dreams can seem pretty real....
well, if you sleep walk yes. other than that you can probably get a heart attack if it's that crazy
I believe the plane we are connected to here is our subconscious, and it is important to knwo what you are trying to tell yourself in these times. Try keeping a dream diary and see if that i any help to finding out what is going on.
Well, if you are dreaming and it is a violent dream and you are reacting to the dream then maybe you can hurt yourself. For example, you suddenly begin striking out and hitting yourself. There is always the possibility that you may bound out of bed and crash into a piece of furniture thereby damaging yourself
I thin it is possible. The other night I had a horrible dream about my cousin. I felt paralyzed and I couldn't wake up. It was awful. When I finally did wake up my chest was killing me.
Yes! I dreamed I was swimming under water and woke up covered with sweat and gasping for air. Scary!
scientific research shows that if your having a dream that you believe strongly enough in, the mind affects the body and can cause injurys such as scars and bruises to develop
If you die in a dream then it is said you will wake up.....if that is so then is it possible ro be linked in such a way that ypu can be wounded in the same place you were killed in your dream
Idk.. but I've had dreams where i felt pain while I was in my dream. I felt this door knob where the room was on fire.. and the door knob was hot.. and Iacually felt it burn my hand.
No, I have not felt pain while sleeping, but if you are waking with unexplained bruises, then maybe you have a particularly bad dream and you could have thrashed around in your sleep.
I ususally surround myself with pillows and their is no way can hurt myself but this unexplained bruises are really freaking me out. I had one a year ago where it looked like someone grabed my wrist and squeezed it
i believe that if ur that deep into dreaming anything can happen. u know when u dream of having to pee and sometimes u actaully pee the bed. its like that. i have woken up with marks as well from nightmares... and even if u surround urself with pillows, if u are thrashing about, anything can happen.
i have heard that if u die in ur dreams u die in real life. i have always been sort of afriad of that because i kind of believe it. ive had near death dreams, and dreams where ur falling off a cliff... but ive always woken up before i hit the ground. so im unsure how that works. its def freaky to think about.
our minds are very powerful. even more powerful than we give ourselves credit for.
If we see ourselves die in our dream I believe we will die soon in real life....its a warning that something is coming and for you to be prepared for.
If u aren't hurting urself in ur dreams then who is doing it
we are at our weakest when we sleep. Our spirits overpower our minds and travels to the Plains are easier in this stage. As are spiritual battles. I believe that while sleeping, we are subject to all sorts of acts in the Astral Plains.
How do u know what is real or not....how can we tell if we are really awake or if it is just a dream
I can tell you that my awakening was more or less like that...
I started dreaming of vampires a lot during the last year and one night, I was bitten in my dream... I felt like all my blood was drained, and then I know I bit back ... recovering myself... it was so real... and when I woke up in the morning, I had bruises and marks on my neck...
I have never hurt myself in my sleep, but I have had some awesome sex dreams and felt everything. I strongly believe its all mind over matter, if your brain really thinks your doing something then you are
I Agree With FatalReaction
And I Also Belive That We Are All Connected On The Astral Plane
Thats Why More Than One Person Can Have The Same Dream At The Same Time
yeah i have heard about that....people having the same dreams they are spiritualy connected right
i dont know for sure if it has to do with anything spiritable... ive had times woken up for punching walls and i woke up to several different things you yourself doesnt know what you do while your dreaming. and it seems when they do no one s around
Oh hell yes we can injure ourselves n our sleep..
I fractured my nose in my sleep.. I was in a single bed, next to a wall.. I was bending over in my sleep, quite quickly.. as I was alseep on my side I head butted the wall, VERY hard.. I woke up with sickness and a bloody nose.
As for spiritually, I think it is possible to go to different realms and be at risk of harm...
If u are frozen in sleep.....does that mean u will be stuck in a dream that may kill u if it will literally scare you to death if u can't wake up
I was fighting in a dream, I woke myself up punching the headboard. I think most bruises are cause by you trashing in your sleep.
that can explain it and rolling over and hurting ur self on accedent makes scence too...
Yes I belive that you can hurt yourself while you are sleeping. This has happened to me many times. It usually happens to me when I am haveing a bad dream. But It has also happened to me while having a good dream so I don't understand why or how it happens.
I fell off the top bunk a few years ago when i was sleeping and broke my arm. If that can happen the what else can happen
I am not sure or have ever heard of someone being physically injured from a dream... but have heard of many individuals that have been injured while sleepwalking or just by bumping around at night...
When u are dreaming u can hurt other people with out know that u are going it. i hurt someone that i loved at one time i was choking her all most to the last breath and i stop because she talked to me and i came back to the real world
what about talking in ur sleep...have u ever yealed out something that completely freaked someone out
I don't think it has much to do with a spiritual connection... The brain is very powerfuland i believe that the drems and pain go hand in hand and kind of explain each other... If that makes sense..
But can one actually hurt themselves while they are dreaming... and not from something physical? I completely understand sleepwalking and the like, but to actually physically harm yourself from just dreams... is that possible?
Anything is possible...
Sometimes you can physically act out parts of your dreams. I know I've woken up a few times in the act of doing something I was dreaming about.
Very true.. you have a good point Dame.. a very stressful dream could cause some trauma... but you still have to wonder...
Is it possible if you get hurt really bad in a dream u can get hurt in real life
Can dreams tell the future
Yes,a very stressfull dream and cause some pain, mental or to the body.Expecially..when your body has not shut-down your functions of moovement while sleeping, you can truly'act' out your dream and really hurt yourself.I know a few times..I hear people, and waoke up myself..and seen that I had clawed up my pillow or myself. You dream can be so real..that you body may think what you are dreaming you should really be doing.Like if you drempt that you had a heart attact or hurrled up food in you dreams you could wake up,then same way as your dream.I said hurrled-cause well, some people had died drowning in there vomit.
Now,Can a dream tell you the future?no.
why?cause the future hasent been made yet.
Isn't there a thing called Destiny or is are life what we make of it.
If re-encarnation is real then do we die the same way we did in our past lives....is that why some people can predict the future...is that what we dream about?
from my nightmares I have not only got bruises but broken ribs and I have ripped skin off my legs and arms though my nightmares are a lot worst then most so I know only believe you can I know you can I can't take sleeping pills because the dr's have seen what I do to myself when having nightmares
i honestly think that we can hurt ourselves during a dream but im not sure to what extent..will we wake up at a point when the pain is bad or not?
You usually do wake up when the pain is bad...at least that is the way with me. For me i can wake up fighting to breath and crying cause the pain is so extreame...soemtimes i can cough up blood when i am trying to breathe. Sounds gross i know but hey thats the way my dreams get gross scary and makes u wanna scream for help
It is very possible that you can hurt your self while sleeping(Dreaming) . I once used sleep as a way to escape my situation (On the earthly plain) I have read many books that talk about outer body experiences. I believe I have experience this in a dream state.. Sometimes it can be a positive experience and sometimes it can be a bad trip... May your dreams all be plesant...and safe
I'm used to waking up with unexplained scratches and bruises but I know I toss and turn alot while sleeping because I get nightmares
Yes, I think you can hurt yourself during dreams. I think it is possible for a person to have a very vivid dream of being hurt in some way, you could very well awake with that same pain. Whether you happened to do it yourself in sleep, or the unexplainable.
I always wake up with bruises I can't explain. Anyone who has seen me sleep say I don't do anything in my sleep, I just lay there, motionless. But the weird thing is you can always tell the difference between the bruises I know where they came from and the ones I don't.
First thing I want to note is that I don't bruise easy. In fact, it's ridiculously hard to bruise me.
Normal bruises for me are the those nothing ones (the yellow, or greenish ones). The only time I get the really bad ones (purple or black ones) is in my sleep.
I've had people punch me in the arm so hard I couldn't move it, and it didn't leave a mark. But my whole life I've woken with purplish-black bruises that I can't explain. And I haven't had a dream. I don't thrash, either. my bf sleeps next to me every night and he can attest to that fact.
The craziest thing that I did have happen to me in that respect was once I woke one morning I had a Huge black bruise on my leg. When I told one of my friends later that day, he apologized. He said that we had been wrestling on the astral plane that night and that the only way he could get me to let go was by squeezing my leg until I let go (which that is how I really am). It left a nasty bruise that I "carried" back with me.
This is just in my experience. I don't have bruises from when I dream, just sometimes I do. And I always have all kinds of crazy bruises I can't explain, especially my legs!
I always have dreams where I'm about to fall on my face. Just before I hit the ground I'm jolted awake, and my chest hurts. So I guess so!
Absolutely you can have pain; I had a dream where someone was smothering me, and I woke up unable to catch my breath, I had trouble breathing for a good 30 minutes before I was able to get back to normal
Later that morning, I found out that my boyfriend's father had passed away around that same time..........the two were connected, definitely
yes i believe we can, thats why when u wake from a dream like say u were fighting someone the places u were punched r sore.
crimsonxxtears,
you say that if you die in a dream its a sign that you are going to die soon in real life. i disagree because yes usally you do wake up if your about to die in your dream, but ive died in a dream many years ago and so did some other people i know and im still alive.
And yeah sometimes if the pain is bad in a dream you do wake up, usally short of breath, fast heartbeat etc. but the extent of the pain can only be as bad as what you have felt in real life. it cant be worse because your mind hasnt expereniced it so therfor woulndnt be able to portray it in a dream or nighmare.
it probably is possible to hurt urself while dreaming, maybe physically, emotionally or psychologically.
i no i have had dreams that have hurt me emotionally and i've had some dreams which have been so damn scary i wonder if they've harmed me psychologically.
Is that where those brusies come from?? I've always had a joke that my mom comes in and beats me up when I'm sleeping. I never thought of that before.
yes we can hurt ourselfs in our sleep if your sleepwalking or having a bad dream and your twisting a
and turing you can hit the bed frame and you'll have a big bruise in the morning ( i know :-s)
Ok.. this was an excellent thread..
I know we can... but the question I would like to add is what do you do when you wake up with cuts, and you dont sleep walk..or any of that.. Its just I sometimes have violent dreams where I fight back in dreams and if I end up being injured , wake up with the same type..
Admittedly I have woken up with bruises and scratches in places they shouldn't be. like my back. Once I had finger bruises from someone grabbing my arm in dream and pulling hard. So yes i believe whole heartedly you can hurt yourself in a dream state.
yes you can hurt yourself in your sleep. And we are connected somehow.
Yes, some dreams can hurt you badly... I would like to know if there's a way in which you could handle those dreams and prevent a possible damage... do you know something?
A friend of mine says that i am an empath and that i am connected stronger to the spirits when i sleep thats why i feel fear...pain...loss....and sometimes a bit of pleasure
if that is so then isn't it possible a spirit is hurting you when u sleep and not urself
I have had this ahppen. It's true that you need to conquer whatever you're fighting in your dreams. Do you all agree?
