I've always had this weird ability to sense wheather someone is bad or good, or sense thing in their personality, just by meeting them. Sometimes, I don't even have to talk to them to sense this. I just have to look at them. Some people I have met have almost made me sick to my stomach being around them. And others intrigue me, and make me want to be around them more. Others are harder to figure out sometimes. Those are the people who confuse me.
I remember my Pre-Algebra teacher, 8th grade. He always passed me, even if I wrote nothing on my tests. He gave me a terrible feeling in my gut. I told my friends I thought he was a child molester, or some sort of predetor. Turns out, I was right. That next year, my sister told me he quit his job, for no reason. Seemingly.
Does this happen to anyone else?

I think just about everyone has felt this, in some way or another. There's just some people you're not as comfortable around, for no apparent reason. I think you just have a more heightened sense for this.

I'm sure we all get a sense of people we meet just from their personality.

For me, depending on how a person acts around other people will let me know if I like them or not. Most of the time though, it really depends on their personality and how they present themselves.

Yes some people are like that, but people better hope they are right when they think things about people...

Yes I can sometime feel this when I meet someone new. It can be a look, gesture, or even the handshake. Most of time I am right about it. I tell some of my close friend about a person that I have met or they have introdiced me to and tell them to be careful with that individual. I am glad that a lot of us have this ability.

I can totally relate to this..I get vibes like that alot. I will know if I like someone within the first few seconds of meeting them...I hate getting the bad vibe they make me feel odd and if that person walks by me it makes me twitch. I sometimes growl out of nowhere when these bad vibes happen. It happens with more than just people for me..Like super nature vibes I feel as well. Like spirits and such...

This is related to the empathic ability. Everyone is empathic on some level. This just means you are sensitive to the types of energy around you. Personality is kind of like a signature unique to each persons energy (or aura if you will). Mood also affects this energy. So depending on how sensitive you are to any type of energy, the more you will be able to tell things about a given individual. Is this something that's been happening in more recent years, or are you just noticing more?

i have strong auras from peoples too. ive seen it with babies a lot.

Sometimes I can get a vibe if someone is a liar or just not right with the way they talk but auras I dont know if these would count under that.

I know I can do that too. Just never seems to work on women I'm dating :)

You should always pay attention to those "gut instinct" feelings because they are usually right. Auras however change depending on many factors and some of the time they can even show illness. If someone has an icky aura they might be sick or under terrible stress.

it could be aura or it could be simply empathy your able to sense the intent of others thru their emotion whether they show you emotion or not I get the same effects as what you talk about thru my empathic abilities

I have had the exact same thing ever since I was little. My mom always talks about it. She's actually very proud of my ability to sense personalities and be very aware of what is going on around me. I find it a very useful gift. Use it, do not ignore it. Be proud.

It's an empathetic response to one's energy.

Think of it as the primal force you feel around certain people in certain moods.

With animals a certain smell or stance will drive others away, while some merely put up a protective shield (or are psychically feeding), causing the discomfort.

I can sense the difference in a person just by near them for 5 minutes.I have set friends up and many have married thanx to my abilities.
I can sense when someone has bad thoughts or plans on doing something wrong before they attempt it,I tell them what would happen if they do the crime......I have been correct 9 out of 10 times when someone does the wrong thing.

Well, I doubt any one will believe me, but I can do something similar to what you can. Except I have to be able to see the persons eyes. I met this one girl, and I immediately knew that something wasn't right with her and I looked into her eyes and knew her darkest secret...she had been raped and when I confronted her about it, she just broke down and admitted to it. I will not give her name even though she does not have a profile here on V.R.

Just knowing thigns about people that ur not supposed to know I thought was common. Its something that i'm so used to I cant imagine not being able to. And yes it is common to know which people u want to stay away from.

I think it is a primitive instinct that we all have to some degree , some are aware and sensitive to it , while others not so much. Most all animals have it , it alerts them to danger ect. I think in a way it can be a learned behavior through experience also .

i cant read minds but i do feel if something is going to happen to someone and i can feel how someone is to a point

There is quite a number of folks who judge individuals at moment of site. Whether its psychic abilities are are own predispositions to appearance, it is possible to draw conclusions without ever really knowing the person.

This has always been something in my life. It stopped me from making friends with alot of people.
But I can remember very recently, just last October. My boyfriend bought weed from this girl at school. She was my friend yes, but there was something I didn't like about her... And I had a bad, ominous feeling in my gut. I probably should have told my boyfriend to ditch his weed... I found out later that day he got caught. He went straight to juvie. I had a feeling my "friend" told on him. And even more terrible, I found out my so called "friend" who sold him the weed, indeed snitched on him.

I can sens it to but it is more like my stomac suddenly turns upside down and I feel like I'm punch, and this tells me someone or something bad is close by or about to happen, the aura itself tho to me only tells me what kind of personality a person has by its color or the streingh it has.

I have senced the same feeling but not just with ppl, with places as well. I think it just our defences telling us to be weary of someone/something, it could be an Aura but i havent looked into it

Yeh.. everyone has felt this is some wat or other at some point in their lifes. But i think you may have a more sharpened sense for this =] You just get a feeling where you feel more comfortable and happy round others, and also the opposite where you feel they may be bad and could cause trouble when your around them..

My stomach goes all mad & backflippy, i feel sick & my ears tend to burn up!

When i meet people for the first i always look into their eyes...some times i get a good feeling, like i feel relaxed & warm, then others I feel cold & sick to the stomach...i have to look away!

If i get a bad feeling about them i still make an effort but just bother as much!

The good feeling people, i dont really need to try that hard coz most times we click & hit it straight off!

I have premonitions that are more specific to events, but I can usually read people too.
Many of us here have heightened abilities. You sounds as though this is your major gift. Do not be afraid. Learn how to use your ability even more. Don't feel alone about your uneasiness. Gifts can be frightening for all of us a first. Know that you are not alone.

I am also a good judge of character and can sense their motives reasonably well.

However, I have to say that in my mind, i could never determine whether someone is good or evil as this is generally a preconceived notion. I do not believe for one second that anyone can sense whether or not someone is evil or good as this is not a sense, it is a concept derived from religion and the person who is being judged may not believe themselves to be evil or good.

For example, some would say that I am evil, yet others would say that I am good. In fact, i consider myself to be neutral as I do both good and evil acts as i strive to maintain a balance within myself.

So, it would all depend on how i decided to portray myself to any given person as to whether they believed i was good or evil.

I have the ability to tell how someone is inside. This can really work against me at work. I have a very difficult time doing a good job on my clients if I sense that they suck!

like everything in this world, every part of the creation is charged... possitive or negative... so are we... and that´s way sometimes we feel attracted to certain people or reject others...

I wouldnt nessercerly say this is "bad auras", people get a general sense of what that person is like by been around them or talking to them, insted you may posses a slight psycic ability.

yeah, i get feelings like that around some pple. I usually avoid getting to close cause sometimes i can tell what they have done, whether its good or bad.

Yes... I think most people can do this.
Unfortunately, as we try to catalogue our impression wi taint it. We begin to second guess those impressions... etc.

It's rather like doing an tarot reading for a close friend; you begin to place your judgements apon the reading!

With a first impression their is no bias to get in the way, so it is often the truest impression we will ever have. Curse our brains, culture, and everything else that tells us that it is imperative that we must project our impressions apon what is actually there... perfection.

it doesnt happen to me all the time but once in a blue mooon I can sense something about someone that comes out to be true.

I normally get this feeling. However, I tend to get it after I have given some previous "benefit of the doubt." It is very hard to get that back once you truly know what a person is like.

I get that feeling but I tend to take it as a warning and not judge people from it alone.

aye, happens to me as well...but that is just the empath in me. yes, i can tell the type of person, but i can also feel their pain, both physical and emotional. so on and so forth...a two edged sword really. ah the joys of being an empath.

it just happens that some are more prone to be open about that kind of sence in their abilities and others dont even know that it exists

I have a couple of friends that can see auras, though I myslef cant or at least dont think i can but I'm pretty good at picking out hte bad folks from the good

i too can feel them, they are strong and i sense the emptiness of them..

I have that too. I see it as a a gift...

I have only felt extreme dislike of three peope I have met.....to the extent of not even wanting to look at them.

The first two proved to be very violent.

The third is still a mystery, a lady who goes to church and is herself very psychic.

When we have to meet I just know we have to force ourselves to be polite.

Have recently read an article on this site which sugests such things are in the nature of a Karmic debt or obligation or warning.

Have concluded that with the lady, I am just going to get over it and not let it bother me...........watch this space lol

I suppose everyone has this to some degree. I myself suck bigtime in this area. Since you seem to be blessed with this ability, be thankful. If you listen to it, it can save you from a lot of trouble.

My experiences have not been as in depth but when I get bad vibes from someone I will give them one other chance to prove me wrong.... that doesn't happen often.... but I have been wrong before and that is why I give people a second chance....

Ah, this is a feature I as well posess. It's nothing bad, and like the others before me said: It's an animalistic trait.
It's an instinct, warning us to be aware, and on our guard.

i think anyone who has a open mind and is ecceptable to the sences around them are able to feel and to know things about others..some jsut don't realizethat they have this ability.it can be natural for some people

I think everybody experiences something like that, but it happens to some people more than others. So yeah, I know exactly what you're talking about. When I see somebody I can just immediately feel the type of aura they have and their personality. I don't judge by this, but when I meet them, they're exactly like what I suspected. It's creepy, but still kinda cool.
I can also do this with zodiacs.

I usually can sense when something bad is going to happen too...mmm kinda weird. Or when major changes are going to take place.

i have always felt that we were born with the auras from the expriences that we have had in past lives and with every new experience that our auras can change.i know some people can pick up on the sence of a aura alot more than others.

Same with me, I can usually just look at someone (must be in real life) and I can automaticly sence if id like em or not. I just get a certain feeling about them. It has proven true in the pass as there were these people I saw and I didnt really get good feelings from em and they turned out to be nasty bastards so I was right. You could always argue though that my judgement on them could some how depict how they want to treat me. Maybe your subconcious could be screaming out negative vibes to them or some sort or another.

in response to the original question, yes, I too often get a sense about people. Many are just too "mundane" to even give off more psychic energy, life force, or "aura" (whatever term you want to use here for the prana vamps feed on) than the average turnip. But then there are those who either exude alot of positive energy, or else those who give off some really bad vibes. I suppose it could be equated to smells, and something that is rotten inside will in all likeliness smell foul onthe outside, even if you are not able to perceive exactly why at the moment. This is obviously something that some people are more in tune with than others. But I imagine on this site you're going to find alot of people who pick up on those things.

you should always follow your gut instinct.. I am a very good judge of people .. and as far as i can remember ive only been wrong a few times..usally when i have i chosen to ignore that gut feeling..What causes it I dont know..

I have always been able to sense a persons aura just by hearing their voice or being by them, very seldom have I been wrong when I sense a bad feeling emmanating from them.

I am a good judge if people are good or bad, i do not know why i am a good judge of things like that i just know i am, but people can get the wrong feelings sometimes...

I have learned that people judge one another within the first couple seconds of just having glanced at on another. Its rediculous but at the same time unavoidable. the Judgement is more severe than those hot or not celebrity column writers. *shiver*

I hate to be judgemental and tend to try to ignore my first impression of someone, however, I have rearely been wrong.

I'm also very sensitive to positive and negative inflection and cannot stand to be in the room with someone who is negative because I get the same ill feeling as if I'm being drained and coming down with something.

I can sense when sumone is a bad person or when sumone is an honest good person. Thats how i can choose my friends and in other situations.

No aura is all good, or all bad.

It happens quite often for me. I tend to sense other people this way just by looking at them or watching what their doing. Also my ability to feel emotions boosts this effect!

Theres been many times when I have been able to catch people in lies. (I absolutly hate liars.) They would tell me some story and some how or another I would find out about it because I followed my gut. I can be wrong in certain cases but out of 90% of the time I am right about what I say.

I have noticed also that this ability allows me to read people very well in tarot! I'v never once been wrong. :o

I have this ability, but I don't think it's Aural, Mine is more like a Psychological sense on the way someone talks, acts, presents themselves & so on....or maybe it is Aural, who knows...I call it my 7th sense & it greatly helps in my sales career....

Yes, I know exactly what you mean. I'm slightly phychic and a pritty strong empathetic, so I just figured it was the two colliding and working as one....

I too have this ability. But I don't believe an aura can be all good or bad. There always has to be a balance of the 2 in everything. Good can't exist without bad, and it goes the other way as well.

I mostly keep my abilities to myself. Normally others wouldn't understand. But with communities like this, I can freely express the true me as I know I am not alone.

No matter what people say, I say use your abilities every day, you never know if the person next to you is a rapist, or a common criminal.

Yes i do think that we can detect aura's....But some people are mmore gifted than the rest of us...They can detect it easily while others like me have to train in martial arts or meditation or reiki to do so...

i feel the same, my old teacher at secondary school used to give off this really negative feel and when she stood in front of the whiteboard i swear i could see a dark outlining around her body like an aura but i disliked her the moment i met her

There is a school of thought that energies, like magnets, can attract and repel on a subliminal level... I am very impressed with some of the insights here... auras are an integral aspect of many cultures... I understand that some healers focus on auras first... does anyone have any experience of this...

It does to me to a point. Not as bad as with you, but it still happens. And it is the type of energy they have. The more negative surrounding them, the worse you will feel...just like the more positive will make you feel happy and pleasant. If it's confused...it's usually because it's a mixed aura. Not one really coming out more than the other. I have usually done fairly well by my choices.

I have sometimes seen the spiritual elements of auras and the emotional layers to be able to read the person has a negative aspect about that. I will then withdraw myself from being around this person.

I can also sense Someones Motives and read through the "BullShit" as I call it.

But at the same time i've been told by quite a few people that my Aura scares them. Usually Odd Balls @ Festivals and Carnivales.

Perhaps in part they cannot read me because I try to remain Mysterious or Focus on not making myself open as I should. Either way everyone is open to their own interpretations.

My Mother can (usually) tell from the get-go if someone is 'good' or 'bad'. Used to piss me and my sister off when we were kids and she'd say we couldn't associate with someone because they weren't any good....but, she turned out to be right most of the time.

First impressions Oh yeah. At times I get "impressions" of a person when I first meet them. I try though to give them the benefit of the doubt, but 9 times out of 10 my impression is usually correct.

And although at times I can't put m finger on it I can feel something is wrong with a person, especially someone I have been close to. I usually can tell by their skin coloring or their hair or a 100 different ways.

I can tell when people are not good. Some people just make me feel uncomfortable and I feel a sence of discussed when around them. Others make me feel comfortable right away.

I can't necessarily see auras, but I have this inborn ability to sense if someone is good or bad as well. Even if someone likes the person I call bad, they eventually change their mind.

Could be just intuition. Good old gut instinct.

It happens to me a lot. If I get the kick in the gut which is when I usually a black aura about them I know to watch for danger. That was an example. On the other hand with a burn in the chest I generally see a white aura. Also an example.

I'm going to have to agree with those here who've pointed out that it's quite common for people to get "readings" off others. I won't go so far as to equate it with being empathic because that, to me, isn't what being empathic is about.

It's really as simple, as so many have pointed out, as intuition. Your "gut feeling". We are, after all, such simplistic creatures, are we not?

That happens to me sometimes. There's a fine line between being a psychic sensitive, or just a good judge of character. I kind of walk the line. Someone who has senses like that finely tuned is a clairvoyant, and they can generally see the person's past as well as feel things, and it usually has to be by touch.
It's a talent, but also a burden, when you're around certain people.
