When taking a picture of ghosts...or having pix of ghosts in them... how do u know if its just an illusion or actually real?? why are some pix have orbs and other actual human shaped ghosts?? Which ones do you know or believe are real or fake???

Please tell me wat u believe or know!!

I agree with jigglebewie, it's hard to know what is real and what is, for it could be something in the room that makes it appear funny. Or that camera has a malfunction. I posted something like this before on another question about orbs. It was on orb colour. Take a look at those forum questions and answers, they're really good.

Most of the orbs i've seen are usually just dust specks.

well.. lets say a professional ghost hunter claims it is definity a ghost orb... do u believe more in orbs or ghost figures... wat is the difference between a ghost orb and a ghost figure??

I do not think you can really tell a true orb from a fake orb, but here are a few things to look for, if the orb is bright , that is better than being faded, - and if the orb leaves a trail that is also a sign of a true orb, or atleast people have said that these are true signs of orb pictures...

it's quite difficult to tell the difference between an orb or some dust that happened to catch the light. i think telling the difference depends a lot on where you are. the history of the place. what the lighting was like and also how many pictures you took in that spot and comparing them to each other to see which have orbs and which don't.

hard to tell wahts real and fake these days orbs can be spect of dust of dirt the images could just be smoke that ws blown or they can be real non is more real then the other

I know that when I get pix of me I always have orbs around me to show that my grandfather is there watching over me.

What if 'orbs' are always appearing in one spot on your body in some pictures? This happens to me quite often.

then it might mean that maybe u have sum spirit connected to you.. or if its around ur head it actually might be a ora of sum kind.. or a halo of goodness!!!

I have never heard of them going around a certain body part before that is weird, is this in any picture you have taken of yourself or just certain pictures?...

The orb always appears around the same spot on my right hip/stomach area, like where my ovary would be? lol I dunno. Normally, as a photographer, I would chalk it up to just dust particles but the same spot several times...gets kinda weird. Alot of times I'm not moving around enough to get dust in the air. I'll have to find those pics somewhere, I have so many pictures on my PC. lol

It's all interpretation and what you remember from the time that the photo was taken.

Usually, it happens when I set up my camera to take shots of me and my friends and with the flash on...usually having a good time...nothing scary goin' on at time of pictures with orbs. I dunno. I'll figure it out one day lol

Well, I have never personally got the picture of a ghost or an orb. My little cousin had a camra phone once and took a picture of her landry room which had this little girl standing there.

But I think if I can get a picture of the moons aura with my camra, then I could get a picture of a ghost if one was there. I guess it just depends really.

I mean, if you take a picture in a house and there is nothing that is reflecting the light, then I'd say its the real thing.

Maybe orbs don't have to be of another spirit, perhaps one's own energy shows up every now and then in pictures?

One thing I haven't mentioned yet is how I've been having health issues...and where the orbs appear at the time of when the photos were taken, I was in alot of pain in that area.

I think that there is no way to tell or prove that there is actually a ghost in a picture, but I think that if you see something you find suspicious then only you can judge for yourself what to think of the picture.

I guess the reason Im here is because I can be such a skeptic. I have a hard time believing every orb in apic is poltergeist...

It can be both and neither. It truly depends on the person who took the picture. Is it someone you know and trust? Or was it you that took the picture. If you know the person and know that they did not use any kind of trick, then there is a distinct possibility that the orb, or spirit in the picture is real.

i believe in both in a way..... there just something to it.

it is hard to say what is real or what is not unless you see it with your own two eyes..

I think the best way to check if orbs are real or dust is to check the stats. Use different cameras, if one has more orbs than the other, chances are it's dust. use different camera at the some place, or on the same person that orbs flow around, again if only ome camera or a couple of the same cameras are picking up the orbs its dust, if ,amy diferent cameras are used and the orbs are in most, it might be better proof of energy.

i am not sure who u can decide which are accidents and which are not..i do have a picture in which i took last halloween and me and my friends went and saw this local haunted house and the owners were giviing out free tours for the night so we couldnt pass it up..we took a picture in the dinning room with just me and my good friend..the next day we went and got them developed the was this big blurr next to my friend...there werent many lights on it the house so we were sure it wasnt that..but we had a feeling that it wasnt..its hard to say since there were soo many people there..we even thought of having a professional look at it..but...that fell thru..lol..i guess unless you know the diffrence its hard

From my experience, it can be dust of course. There are instances in which there is something more in the room that the human eye can not see. One way to test if it is a ghost orb, or dust would be to use several cameras, at the same time. You would have the cameras looking at the same image. Also make sure you lenses are clean.

The difference between orbs and ghost figures is obvious to an extent. Orbs are usually balls of unexplained lightness or darkness within the photograph. Ghost figures are usually strange streaks, or at times, literally actual figures of humans that weren't standing in the place that the photograph was taken. These images are quite rare, but are known to happen. Usually with a particularly strong spirit.

I have this theory that the weaker the spirit's energy, the less of an impact, or in this case imprint on film, they can make.

Before a person takes a picture with a camera they should clean the lens and use a lens hood, and that would take a lot of the orb pictures away, and if you do get orbs in the picture atleast you know you have cleaned the camera and did everything possible not to get false orb pictures...

I kno that on some cameras, you can adjust some settings so any dust particles show up as squares or diamonds.

I wouldnt kn how to pick a real of fake ghost picture, guess if i needed to i would take them to a specialist. Some photos i have seen in books look so fake yet others look so real. I perfer to leave it to someone who knows what they are doing just to be sure.

If you took the pic believe what you see. If some on on a site took it take it with a grain of salt. Orbs is energy and full apporition will fall under a poltergeist.

most orbs are fake. just specs of dust. but you just can have a feeling about it. idk. haha.

in this one house we used to live in. there were marks on a crap load of the picture. read streaks across them. that house was soo haunted. my mom got pushed down stairs. her closet was the coldest place in the house. it was like a freezer. could see your breath! lol.

so its pretty much if you feel like there are ghosts. their might be. and most professionals just want money >.>

digital photography can caputure lots of images otherwise unseen. as to see if it has been edited there are programs that can validate this.

as far as ghost picks goes you could debate forever if they are real or not as far as orbs goes i have yet to see a real pick of one

I've seen too many images in pictures that nothing was there. I'm talking about real images, orbs don't really mean anything to me, but when you take a picture and there is no smoke, its day light and nothing should be interferring with the camera taking, there is a image of a person, then yeah, something was there.

The answer to the question is,

If the ghosts shadow has an orb within it, than the pic is real, if you took it yourself. And maybe with others, just look for the orb to be somewhere around either the lower waist area, or the upper chest area. If it is just the shadow of a ghost, than it may infact be an optical illusion.

well orbs in a pic could mean that its a ghost or it could just be energy thats in the air... the only way i can tell them apart is when i put a pic on my computer , zoom in on the orb and most of the time if its a ghost i can see it in the orb or sometimes its just a white spot lol

I think it would depend on the circumstances in which a picture was taken.. would have to take into consideration lighting ect

the testing that a paranormal investigator does is rule out every possibility when it comes to anything like orbs or pictures of ghosts. it is still very hard to decipher after all the testing that it is a true annamolie or not. that why there is nothing saying that a ghost does or does not exist because it is not an exact science of sorts.

Well I have a pic. were there is tons or ghost orbs and they are real because this place is really haunted and it also known world wide as well. If you want to see it mess. me and ill let you look at it first hand.

I have no idea how you can differentiate as to what is real and what is fake. I guess, you really have to go with your gut.

I think some ghosts are seen as human form because they have enough energy to manifest that sort of form, and the orbs don't have enough. That's my explanation.

Cameras are corpeal, thereby incapable of fully capturing the non-corpeal.

Technology and the Supernatural aren't comrades, for Science is merely the physical human approach in it's futile attempt of mastering the universe and explaining the unexplainable.

I think there are blurry spots on cameras and people might try and play tricks on one another, but as for the capture of a Spirit or such on camera, I sincerely doubt it.

I think it would be highly difficult to tell the difference but if there was a way i would love to know what it was so when i am looking at pictures i knew what it was i was looking at or could assist others when showen pictures

i beleave that ghosts and orbs apear real too the people that want them to be real and not the people that just try to explane them away as dust or lens probs just so they dont have to think about the fact that they might just be contact from the other side

i believe that the only way you can tell if you have taken a picture of a ghost is if it actually looks or has taken the shape of a human.

I agree with most people here, that it is extemely hard to tell the diffirence btwn specks of dust and a real orb. I have taken a number of pic's that have shown a few 'orbs' that i have known were just dust because simply it was a hot day in a dusty environment. But some of the pic's i've taken it's been hard to rule out it being fake simply because:

A) the lens has just been cleaned.
B) It's a clean environment so to much dust at all.

and C) the place has a definte hauted atmosphere.

Plus a couple of times i've taken shot's and people shaped 'ghosts' have appeared were i know, there was no-one there such as a pic i took of a couple of friends i took (in full daylight) sitting on a wall and when i had the pic developed a old lady was there as well clear as day..no pun intended!

Another pic was on digital that i took on hols in the Highlands of Scotland in a place called Fort William where i was staying at a old house that was now a hostel. I took a pic in the main iving room of a few of my friends just messing around with balloons and when i developed it the was this 'apparition' floating about 3 feet of the ground, kind of skeltetal and it looked like it was putting a noose around one of the guys head!!!

It completly freaked me out, not to mention that place at a atmosphere that you could cut with a knife.

a photo could be taken, as to its authenticity...it would be hard otprove it has not been alter or edited in any way.

i have wondered the same i am not sure how to tell either but i have seen some on the web it is pretty intersting i have heard most people see the orb's more getting a actual entity is hard to photograph i guess but when ya find out i would like to know to. kissses&deadlybites always

I can usually tell when I'm looking at an authentic ghost picture, because my eyes start to water. I have no idea why this happens, but it has done for years. Same when i'm talking about ghosts too for some reason...

caputuring an entity on film is very hard...often a speck of dudt causes the illiusion

an orb isn't human.
an orb is said to be an angel or somesort.
And that is how they manifest.

Orbs can also be energyi i have had some pop up when takin pix of speel work.also you look for any light sources or thing that can cause shadows.A orb will be brighter the just a dust flake..

That pic of the orb with that guy looks more like a light speck... but I could be rong. The reason I belive this is because ther is specks of diff. colours. LOL!!! Anyways I believe is spirits cuz my sis is a medium, and also I have lived in alot of haunted houses, and they dont like me to mch lol!!

orbs a lot of time are tricks of the light and dust. and in the example, i think its light. glare. something like that. tho i have seen orbs that i can tell are obviously not tricks of the light or dust. those are rare but they do happen. i only know this for sure becuase i work with cameras adn film and editing and wat not. ive seen it all lol

I found my orb pics again...

The following images were recorded with my old digital camera, taken where I used to live, on the floor where my late-landlord used to live. He frequented the living-room in his living days, now I wonder if he's still there.

hmm those are pretty good pictures of those orbs especially when you kinda just proved that they're real
my uncle went to cambodia and has lived there for over a year, one day him and his family over there went to this famous haunted house and snapped random pictures everywhere in the house. when he developed it a figure appeared in one of them and the pictures of his wife were distorted. when i saw them it was of a lady, the reason why that house was haunted was because of a lady that died there. when you look at the pic from the side you can see that she looks like a skeleton with a long nose. my uncle posted that picture up on a forum inm the web somewhere but i'm still trying to find it, if i do, i'll post it up on here :)

omfg thats kewl. Luv the pix ppl.. I am so happy that I am learnin so mch from alot of ppl. My mother is addicted to ghosts and wat not.. and she had sum interestin things to tell me. Like if u want to clean a ghost of ur house then take insence and go around the house. And wen the insence burns up it means ther is a ghost ther, and then u have to put it out right away. The pictures here are excellent. And at least 2, I have a feeling are orbs.. The other, looks and feels to me that it is a reflection...

Just my opinion of course.

I am a total skeptic when it comes to pictures of ghosts and orbs and such. I have seen a few that I feel are real, however, I have seen many more that can be and are complete fakes.

I don't trust "orbs" to be proof of ghosts. There are too many non supernatural things that could cause them. Orbs are just signs of ENERGY. But they could be caused by bugs, flying dust, crap on the lense. They are NEVER actual spirits, if they are real orbs than they are just SIGNS of a spirit.

I have a couple of pics with orbs in them as well.. You never know what they really are but I orb pics very interesting...

Orbs are merely reflections off of dust specks.

So sum of you believe that some of them are real, and others believe they are spirits. Well... this is startin to be a debate. I like it. I am startin to wonder wher ppl started to get the idea that these so called orbs were spirits!! Does anyone know anythin about the history of this??

all the "experts" say it's specks of dust without actually investigating that claim. my question is, if they are specks of dust, why are they only picked up by digital cameras, and not 35mm cameras? btw, did you know that your digital camera can photograph the "invisible" glow from your infra-red video remote? it shows up as a blue light.

im not sure they all look like dust in the air to me but you can know the differ between orbs and figues right

I believe orbs are ghost, and i think a lot of the orb pictures floating around are fake.

I believe the pics of orbs are real and not dust. If it was dust and u look at the size of the orb that would be one hell of a piece of dust

It is very difficult to tell the orbs from dust. Usually we try to discredit any of our pictures that are questionable, we also try to take 2 shots in each area. If they are taken close to each other (3-5 seconds apart) and the orb is able to be tracked or has a trail we feel that it may be an example of spirit energy and needs further scrutiny. We also take into account factors such as indoor or outdoor locations, humidity, temperature, weather whether we were moving around or stationary when the shot was taken.

I'd love for someone to explain this one I took this picture outside my Moms house last Halloween after I put out the spirit plate, this fog showed up in the picture I took with my digital camera nothing has been altered and it was a clear night.

i feel that there is no real way to prove that ghosts and spirits do manafest them selfs in photos in any way but there is also no way of proving that they dont either i have many pics that i beleave to be ghosts and yet i have seen many that i feel to be fakes

90% of the pictures im in have an orb over my right shoulder my brother and right hand man died 5 years ago

I had a friend come to my old home and he set up the whole camera and tv monator system....The camera was in the haunted room and the tv was in the liviv room where we could watch what was goinn on in the bead room and sure enough we seen 2 fiugers movin around the bedroom like it was there own....
