So when a vampire bites someone its like they become their child but can they have children like everyone else? because arnt they dead so to speak but yeah i was just wondering if someone could tell me that would be great.
I dont really know. I did see this movie once a while ago and there was a pregnant vampire woman. She looked like she was 8 months along. As the movie went on I realized that this woman was pregnant for a couple hundred years. Because the vampire is not really alive, she could not progress in her pregnancy. Like I said this was a movie.
No its not great dear. its a huge burden. think of it like this. You walking around looking at everyone with there children. Making all these great memorys that you will never be able to have yourself. To be quite honest It Is really painful to see. I know I am one of them who can not bear children.
well according to movies when you become a vampire you lose all use of bodily functions. Like you get rid of everything that was in you when you change and then there is nothing else. So really there would be no way for them to get pregnant.
if the mother is pregnant and is turned. the body dies thus killing baby.
So how do fictional vampires have sex?
They must have to use tons of lube, not to mention the dry mouth problem (they kiss a lot, expecially in young adult lit, and the erotic paranormal romances take it way further . . . I've heard).
Nope, in order to function sexually, modern fictional vampires fairly ooze with lubricious charm.
And we have the question of where all that blood they ingest goes to if they're not eliminating it?
Magically delicious it's reworked in the vampiric chemistry and can do just about anything.
I say if you can lubricate, you can replicate.
hahaha BloodMother
I'm sure real vampires can have children and fictional ones cannot. Thats what I believe. But don't quote me because I could be wrong.
This has always confused me.
I'd say..IF a vampire can be boren a vampire..then,either the parents are the kind of vamp that can have children.
OR...either the female must be human, then have child..then turned.
OR...female half human and vamp.
OR..female human,as baby is being boren
gets turned?I donno.
What about the father...?
I just don't know.
I know that a vamp being half human..can
make babies.
Well if we're talking about the traditional died-and-rose-from-the-grave vampire....I'd say no.
In none of the fiction novels I've read that included vampires were any of the lady vampires pregnant.
well i'm glad i'm not the only one confused about this. Like someone said (sorry i wasnt reading names) born vampires..someone had to push it our right? unless its like in harry potter and a muggle born two humans end of haveing a vampire baby...or would that be more along the lines of rose marys baby? Idk the topic confuses me so much.
Hollywood seems to bring out alot of useless information, as well as alot of cinematics.
In the real world, yes...Trueblood can have children, where do you think we come from, from biting people and turning them? Bah, the bite would never make any vampire, it would surely kill you after all that blood loss, but nothing can ressurect you from death. Unless you are the Nazarene of course (chuckles).
But yes, some of us born sterile, but then again so are so many "normals" in society. The genes are inherited yes, sometimes they skip a generation, or several for that matter, but we are born with the genetic "mutations".
I use mutations as the only word that sounds effective for getting the point across.
not being able 2 have children would be the worst cusre I could think of and I feel truly sorry for those who cannot...
however im posative that vampires could not have children
I think the idea of procreating by the bite is just great idea, as well I do not think the body dies, but just changes in some functions wee bit, and sexual activity is still possible.
With that that the body looses its abillity of produceeng the seed since it is now a vampire, but thats all fine, since the bite is here, so one can create bunch of its children.
Adliest that fits in my idea of a vampire.
Proly this is not so fitting in to your idea folks, since many are as humans emotionaly attached in to creating and possesing a child wich grows slowly, from a baby, to a kid, to an adult, and you grow old by looking at that process.
Is genetical behaviour I guess.
In my opinion the shouldnt have to give birth like a mortal if they bite and make children that way..
living and dead vampires are two seperate being/non beings.Living vampires walk their talk and spread their evil seed.I am not so sure about the other kind.
The only way you can really even begin to think about whether or not a vampire can reproduce comes out of fictional movies and books. Because like you said Belle they are the undead and one would think because of that they couldn't....
I would say, like everyone else has been saying, that a Vampire couldn't legally give birth to a child seeing as they are dead..but the idea sure would be something.
I would have to agree that if they were a true vampire it would be possible. But what type of vampire would that make?
I think its amazeing how many of you are open to the idea and think about it. Then there are thse who state to them facts cause they truely believe it then those who dismiss it as fiction. it really shows a wide range of thinking.
fictional vampires... if they can even conceive, they would be born dead far as i can tell.
real vampires reproduce like everybody else on the planet. lots of blood, sweat, and moaning.
mythical can not, they are dead and can't, life comes from life.
real on the other hand can, were all alive so no reason we can't except for the individual may have a problem but that's just somthing that happens.

You are thinking about this with a mind in reality. Guys, an author can make anything happen with their pen ;)
when the mother is biten and has died, the fetus dies with her. Then the resurrection of the mother, and the child into the vampire, The child and the mother are one until birth. The child is thus a sibling of the Night.
Seriously a dead body cannot give life, how would the heart beat to pump blood to the foetus??
How would the blood get oxygenated to let the foetus breathe??
How would nutrients, proteins and such get to the unborn child when all the mother drinks is blood?
(Ok might depend on who she feeds off)
In fiction ANYTHING can happen, so if you look at it fiction wise you could have families upon families.
I wasnt talking about the fiction world guy i understand that i am a writer i'm talking about the people on this site that say they are a vampire but yet they have kids.
Exactly my point ChaosBleed and Images: In fiction anything can happen, and in fiction, thus far, I haven't seen anyone write about where all the blood a fictional vampire ingests goes.
It implies a digestive system. A creature who feeds must eliminate. To eliminate there should be some sort of circulatory system to move the blood to where it needs to go.
but that's thinking in reality again. None of this applies in the fictional world, and especially with vampires.
That's why they're my favorite fictional creature --- they evolve in the mind of the author and if the reading populace buys it --- voila --- new mythos.
I was told by a friend of mine that true vampires are dead within so she told me that it would be impossible for a vampire to conceve and bare a child because it has nothing to sustain the ebmro to bring it to life and to go full term with a child in the womb because the womb is dead ..along with the male vampire who couldn't bust a nut in the first place ..so i would have to agree with her and say no i don't think so ...
Thank you all for telling me about this it really helped
Ya I would agree with just about the whole thread . Dead things don't bread life .
I really think that the answer to your question could be different depending on which book you are reading or what movie you are watching. Since the closest thing to a real vampire in today’s society is someone that decides to live an alternate lifestyle there are no vampire children. Nobody turns someone else into a vampire unless by attraction.
i doubt if vampires can have children because they are not alive and only livingthings can reproduce
Hmm, I think if you could turn someone with a bite it would be more of a companionship than a child. Perhaps like inviting someone into a group?
Surprised no one has mentioned Blade. Isn't he half-vampire (and loathing that half)?
His pregnant human mother was bitten, but not drained by a Fictitious vampire.
I think she carried Blade to term, and then died, but not sure.
I thought Blade's mother was bitten right before giving birth and alternating his DNA he became a half- vamp.
Also to answer the question at hand. I think that if you're talking about the fictional vampires 'walking dead', then how can something that is dead produce life. Unless you look at it like the seasons, life lays dormant until released and this release could be sex or the birth of a new child. Then the question revolves around the child. Will it live forever in an infants body? Will it crave blood? There can be many questions derived from the original, but I think that it all depends on the essential type of vampire you're discussing.
The way I see it is this, unless the Vampire were to bite a woman who was already pregnant then I can't see how you could have Vampire children...although the children would only be a halflings....
They would still be part vampire, they would grow and age but at a slow rate due to the vampire DNA...the part which would make them children would be the human side as vampires do not psyically change...
So I guess you could not have full Vampire children only halflings...
What does everyone else think?...
to put it simple we can have cildren of our own with that sais to be a vampier is a awaking of ones spirit not the phicical bodey that comes latter i would suggest throwing anyting you have learned from hollywood away
Well. I think that because they are the undead they are cheating death so to make childern the create other undead.
(If that makes any since.)
vampires children are the one's they make..they sexually can't have children..but we can make children.
I don't necessarily knwo about females, but I know for a fact that nonfictional vampires can, in fact reproduce. My dad did.
(Haha)
I don't think females can though...... I have my ideas, but overall I am still unsure. I think at least one person needs to be.... alive.
wow this is very amuseing the conversations you all have is very funny
Depends on the fiction. In most fiction, the vampires are undead and not part of the natural world. They just can't have children. Even the somewhat silly Van Helsing movie has the children being born as dead imps basically. So as for fictionally vampires, they really can only produce more vampires by turning other people.
As for the ongoing debate in this thread about what vampires do with the blood, read Stephen King's The Night Flier. The vampire in the story uses the urinal. I apologize if someone brought this up ahead of me.
I would think that Vampires can not have children and wouldn't want to because Vampires don't age if you are talking about mithical and would you always want to have a infant and if you believe they just age very slowly same thing would be a problem
this is not possible i beleave that we all can have children bye getting a girl and
a man and they do the horzontal mombo not no dead people doing it will work i dont beleave it can happen
Cool thread, just so happens I was on another site today, someone mentioned Romani Gypsy Meditation. I wikied it and found Dhampir. Is dis what you's be talkin about?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dhampir
Not a bad read yeah.
well all your bodily functions should still work so why not
Depending on which culture and which myth of vampire you use.
some say that vampire the living kind(most frequent ones around these days)
are able to have kids. and there is a chance that the parent passes the genes down through the blood works of pregnancy
as for the most common vampire of myth.
some myths state 3 bites from a vampire and you turn.
however for those forms its more you have to feed enough blood from the person so they slowly start to fade from living.
then feed your blood to them as a form of transfusion in which causes the vampiric curse, disease. Call it what you want.
Supernatural beings can have children like any other being. Angel's lusted after the women of men and had children, see the bible and member articles.
Vampire's can and do have children.
Vampires are not corpses... they have the spark and therefore the seed of life... so they must be able to procreate....
Well i never really gave it that much thought , but as for the movie and the pregnant vamp hat would make sense
Maybe i should of put at the biginning I dont mean fiction I know the difference between fact and fiction i mean people on here who clame they are vampires and have kids.
A vampire's existence is only a theory.
Some people believe it to be true
and some do not.
If I were to believe that vampires were real I would say that
no: they cannot have a baby the way a human or other mammal would.
I think that when they become the vampire they aquire beauty but other than that, stay the same as when they were bitten. If they cut their hair it will grow back and if they mate with any other being it will not affect them as neither would a gunshot.(One that doesn't use silver bullets or have holy water sprinkled on it of course).
i think that vampire can have kids and i think the dad is a vampire and the female is not. the child will be a half breed
I've heard of Hybrids. Don't know how true that might be though.
Regretfully no they can not and yes when you are bitten it is somewhat like becoming their child because they created you made you what you are, they teach you of all the darkness, but you have the choice to stay with them or part. Most decide to part because they want to find their own way in the world to cope with the dark gift they have been given. It's like a girl not being able to have kids, but wanting to be able to have her own she sees every other girl pregnant with kids, but can only adopt.
I think it'll depend on what sort of vampires you are talking about here. In the context of literature, there are a lot of vampires who are said to be undead and are incapable of conceiving because, as someone here said, they had lost all their bodily functions. But there are other vampires in literature, too, like in Whitley Strieber's version where they are capable of conceiving but they only mate once in a hundred years (if I remember correctly) and only a fellow vampire can fertilize the female's egg.
i would have to agree with elizabeta, she has a valid point it very well depends, on what type of vampire your talking about and the beliefs that accompany that belief.
I think that vampires are more than one kaind, so there are kainds that can't conceive children but those kaind usually have slow flowing blood, the blood goes on important places and usually the man have too low temperature and it just doesn't give the sell to join and make a baby. But some of the other kaind have good fast running blood and nice temperature if they feed well and conceiving a child is not a problem. There are pure blood, hybrids who have been born like that.
In all of the books and movies I have seen you never see vampires mating with other vampires its always vampire and human, plus this is all fictional. I don't believe vampires are human myself I think they are dead so I would say no.
we can get pregnant. we r a human body. our soul will not affect our chance of giving birth to a baby. n they r born human most of the time to a human father....
I'd say that it would be possible for a female vampire to be pregnant. After all, we speak of born vampires and turned vampires. I don't see a way for a vampire to be born without his mother being pregnant :P
In terms of fictional vampires, they must have a rudimentary circulatory system, otherwise they wouldn't need to feed.
They like sex --- a lot of sex, preferably with humans (warmer, juicier).
Male vampires seem to seduce human females quite a bit. Erections require blood and the circulation to get it up.
If you've taken your imagination this far, take it a bit further and visualize semen production.
Shooting blanks?
Imagine harder. We've got a walking, talking, bloodlicking, seducing vampire here. One that might even hold down a job. It takes money to be a successful vampire these days. Okay, so this vamp gets laid alot, gets erections, has orgasms. Is he cumming blood?
Ewwww. I don't think so. A few lively sperm make it through. It's all magic, folks.
Now, think affirmative action, equal rights, women on top, vampiress with a yen for nubile young men. All that nourishing blood keeping her skin supple, her loins moist, her eggs ripe.
I'll stop now.
I can only speak for my self. I am a vampire and for some reason I am unable to bear children. Are the two linked? I don't know.
Rev. Ravyn
There is another question in all of this...If vampires can't have children, how do we have vampires that don't have bite marks?
I have never seen a vampire give birth to a child in any movie I have seen. I would figure if a vampire is dead then so is every other part of being human ie no sperm guess you would call it safe sex. The way vampires are portrade on TV they cannot have children. As you said once someone has been bitten they become the children.
Well, in a fictional sense, anything can happen as long as it entertains... For the sake of entertainment it could be possible for vampires to bare a child-But, it is not scientifically possible because if it is true that vampires are of the undead kindred then I don't think it's possible for them to bare children. Their body isn't alive as it once was and as someone said, they do not have the same bodily fluids. That is why they use their blood to turn a being into one of theirs. That is just their way of actually having a little one to teach and such... It is not the same as how humans have children.
Although, it is not like vampires will not have sex just because they can't bare children... Some vampires are driven by sexual desires and they indulge in this desire...
Well, that is my take on it.
I read a book once where a pregnate woman was turned, and for hunderds of years could never have her baby, but a witch took pitty and sacrificed herself to return the woman to a human who then had a half breed baby...
well, on the recent Van Helsing Dracula had literal kids with his brides...
they were pretty nasty.
but, I dunno how much of that movie was just made up, and how much was actual 'fact'
I have always heard that once someone is "turned" into a vampire then they are dead, so I doubt that a vampire could have a baby.
I posted before I was done lol, sorry, but I also think that this is fictional, the kind of think that you would read in a book or see in a movie.
since a vampire is not much more than a walking corpse it cannt have children, you have to be alive to produce a child and have it grow...once bitten you stop aging and growing so you cannt produce the necessary genetic matterial for procreation
The vampires of folklore can't have children because they are literally living dead and their reproductive organs have shriveled up or gone to waste and don't produce anymore.
The modern day vampires can, unless there's something unnaturally wrong with their reproductive system.
lots of people cannot have children does that make them undead or a vamp
modern day vamps are alive so i see no reason why they cannot have babies
Well I guess if we are talking about all this we have to go back to the beginning of man right, Adam had two wives lillith and eve. well lillith had many children and she wasnt human she was the first recorded vampire and had many offspring of unnatural things. It was an angel that made the so called virgin mary pregnant ,hmm, so do a little research on this okay.
True Vampires are alive just like humans. They can have children but they mature at a greater rate.
it is possible the spawn of the vampire will give birth and the child in question grow up to a certain extent and then stop
They cannot have children in the way real children are born. To be a vampire child you would have to be bitten by one.
I'd have to say why not? If you live the vampiric lifestyle it does not make you infertile.
In my opinion, living vampires, not "Hollywood" vampires can have children.
ive read a lot of books and for the most part no none can have children, most dont even desire them. Then comes along one of my favorite fictional authors, Christine Feehan where her vampire characters fight to keep their children. Their kind have a high mortality rate. Most children are male and don't live past the first year. Yet again it is fictional.
Got no idea about "real" vampires. But psy vamps - we have kids with no problem. Except they are usually gifted/cursed with paranormal powers.
Hollywood vampires cannot have children. They operate from the viewpoint that these vampires were made by dying as humans. Dead things cannot give birth. Non-hollywood vampires, on the other hand, can have vampires. They are very similar to humans except they must feed on either psychic energy or blood. So, their chances of having babies are the same as so called normals.
I would have to agree. When the body dies...so does frank and beans downstairs if you know what im saying. Also if you watch the movie 'interview with a vampire', You see when Kirsten Dunst's charachter is turned, she never ages a day. Not saying its all true, where her appearence and hairstyle cannot change. But as far as i know, vampires cannot physically age.
So if a vampire for some reason did impregnate a woman, the baby would be born and stay in that state forver? Interesting thought
it like everyone of you vampire say you cant get preg even thought you don't have the blood in side you
IM sorry, i didnt quite understand that. Could you re-word it?
Real vampires can bear children the same as anyone else.
