Do you believe vampires are soulless, empty, creatures? Or do they have souls and experience love and all the emotional breadth humans do?

I would think they have souls.

But if you look at Hollywood, they make them soulless and heartless 90% of the time.

Thats a good question. It seems that the fictional ones are all about a wide range of emotions. As far as real ones? It seems the ones that live the lifestyle very much have souls. I also think anything in existence must have a soul.

So the bed I am lying on as I type on my laptop has a soul?

For that matter, does my cimputer have a soul then?

Let me rephrase that for you then.....

I feel that anything that lives and breathes has a soul.

But the way I see it, if it breaths can feed, poops, and can live with out anyone else's help its alive.
But to have a soul, that would mean that thing can think, have a mind of its own, judge etc.

Personally, I believe all vampires have souls.

And Pandora is right-- everything that was created has soul. Even that lovely lap top had one darling, because the materials it was made of were ONCE living things. Everything has a soul. Its where our emotions come from and our ability to live.

Well, there is a "God" in every religon. There is always some form of deity.

The materials were alive at one point, but not anymore. Something that is dead can't have a soul. So again, no soul for the compy.

No soul for anything not living - alive with blood running through its veins. I believe vampires have emotion therefore can have souls..... IF they do indeed exist. Just going by what I've seen on movies.

We're talking about the same people who take important information and events out of books and calling it a movie, so yeah.

See hears the thing, not everything is living there for not everything has a soul, and some things we see as living and should have a soul don't E.I. Soulless killers, and other things.

Being a spiritualist many believe that all things have essence but not necessarily what we would call a soul. If everything is made of energy why shouldn't something at a lesser stage of evolvement be able to grow. Some believe they can and develop what we think of as a soul...they gain sentience.

No one knows either way so anything anyone says is just their own beliefs or opinions.

As for the fictional vampire well the writer can make them be anything they choose and not base it on historical/folkloric beliefs at all. It reminds me of "Ange", lol

Souls are a spiritual belief, if one is not spiritual then does it have a soul? Last time i've looked, i've never seen a squirrel praying over it's acorns or a dog thanking god for it's food. I'm not saying animals do not have a soul, i'm simply stating that the idea of someone having a soul is a matter of faith and a spiritual belief. Creatures in nature live on instincts, not faith.

i belive the loss of a soul mate keeps us being reborn to find our true feelings... dark as they are... and the next stage becomes the search for the one we know understands.... and so forth

But that wouldn't make us lose our souls...... or it wouldn't make a vampire lose its ability to bleed etc.

sorry i was speaking as a living being with a very dark mind and soul that has started to understand myself as a energy taker a vampire of sorts.... some are speaking of a book vampire a romantic thing indeed... yet far from the truth

I believe all humans have souls and in reincarnation that we come back as another human. Animals have a soul as well but as to reincarnation? I don't think so. An inanimate object was never alive to have a soul.... in my humble opinion.

Since most of us on here are human and alive, then yes vampires have souls. As to fictional ones, their creator can have the say in yes or no to souls.

I all ready know this, for I have found my soul mate. But thats the thing, could a vampire find true love? From what is said vampires have no soul, so could they find a love like that?

real vampire will see something in there soul mate that compleates them ... it goes deep to genetics ... but that would be a deeper debate

That is a toughy, since most family I know tend to rid themselves emotionally as it at times causes emotional imbalance within their mind when in the perceptive light.

Most of the time, we feel that it is a monotonous thing, you might find us a bit cold hearted, but when we see these emotions used over and over again, it just tend to seem rather rediculous.

From tears, to anger...Just gettings tiresome and boring, wishing society would quite with either the whining, or the complaining about stupid shite all the bloody time.

Rather annoying. But then, as one grows we seem to become a bit passive concerning all situations since we are completely used to it.

I am sure vampires have souls and can experience love, and emotions, the only difference is that they are more predatory in nature, wich doesnt neccesserly makes them monsters.

Vampires are indeed soul-less. Well the mythical ones are. once they're biten they die. then they come back as immortal so they've got no soul.

Vampyres do have souls in this new world of today. Many look at it has there immortality of that being there soul. it will live on even way after the body has lived out its day here on earth. the spirit or soul of that vampyres will carry over too the next live and so on. That is my views on that matter. In the books and movies they are stone cold creatures without known that you have or have not studied that every living thing has a soul weather it be good and pure or twisted and evil sort of way. I do see love in the books and movies the charm and sexuality that hinders their victims. Many have feelings of a need of love and compassion and desire it from that they seek out in the victims or through others that have no love in ones old live.

This, I think is a bit beyond the pale and imagination of most, even Bram Stoker... Get a grip!

Hollywoods version of a vampire changes with each movie production and book written. I do believe they have souls nonetheless. Look at the movie Bram Stokers Dracula, his soul mate was Mina and he loved her. Based on some of the above posts, that alone gives him a soul.

I believe that obviously living vampires have souls. I also believe that vampires of myth and legend have souls as they are supposed to be damned, you can't be damned if you don't have a soul in my opinion. Just because the body is dead doesn't mean the soul has left. As for fictional vampires, as has already been pointed out that is purely up to the writers whim.

Vampires probably have some form of driving lifeforce but I highly doubt it is a human soul

well I think that everyone and everything that lives and breathes and reasons can have a soul. Some don't believe in god and some don't believe that animals have a soul but I think we all have souls or we all are souls and can live from body to body I believe that the body we are in is just a shell that dies but the soul never dies just moves on to the next thing it wants to do.

If you are talking about real live vampires such as psychic vampires or sanguine vampires then you are talking about people who are born as vampires and so are also born with souls. I am a sanguine vampire so I speak from personal experience. Psy and sang vampires definately do have souls as they are basically half breeds of the mythological vampires and humans.

However, if you are refering to the vampires of legend, myths and lore, then the question of whether or not they have souls becomes very unclear. I cannot even attempt to answer this, none of us can, we can only speculate.

I would have to say they have a soul, but I think once turned, the soul is...changed.

It becomes darker and twisted. Different things are viewed as important than a typical human.

i believe if something is capable of thought then it is alive in some shape or form and they have some thought or they would not be able to feed and if you think then you must have a soul

well if you go by tv vampires then no the don't have a soul they are undead and supposedly lose their souls to be able to do the horrific things they do but for real vampires I think they do have souls because they live and breath like anyone else.

Hollywood and books say Vampires are souless. But, I believe differently. Also, if Vampires are "souless" then how come in books and folklore they are damned??? HMM? Why would they suffer in hell with no soul to tranfer in? Do they just go in body form? So many questions alng with this lol sorry.

As to fictional vampires, there are many interpretations of animated corpses, soul no soul, dead or undead.... so this discussion can go on forever.

I believe that vampires like all creatures that walk the earth have a soul... all of them are capable of loving and wanting...

just purely talking fantasy here if Vampires are the dammed/fallen which they are often refered as. then it would make sense for them to have a soul. ithink that is what differentiates (spelling?) them from zombies. zombies are mindless soulless beasts where as the vampires have the full range of emotions .

In the traditional Hollywood sense they are soulless, empty shells. In the Modern sense of Psy Vamps well they are pretty much regular people in a general sense of having emotions, a soul etc.
