This is just me wondering. What does it mean when someone is sensitive to sounds, pitches, light, emotions, ect. Are they simply a sensitive human? Or are they more than that? What are your opinions?
Sounds like a combination of things. It could be that they have really good senses (I am talking physical and psychically) or they might be awakening kin. OR they could have a medical condition that causes the physical symptoms and they are just an empath. It’s hard to say without knowing the person and their history more and on top of that most often it’s up to personal study to make the final call.
certain people have better senses than other but usually because another is hampered. My sense of smell is extreme, yet eyes are not good. one for another i guess.
Many humans are sensitive to these things, and some don't even realize how much those elements are affecting them.
People may just complain of headaches, never realizing that they may need quiet and time away from bright lights.
Sounds like any number of things that I know of right off hand. One being Lyme's Disease...Might want to check with a neruologist.
Well said Oceanne it’s always better to rule out the ordinary before looking to the extraordinary.
Your question is really too broad..
The reasons can be for one side of the spectrum to the other ranging from gifts to health issues.
Okay being more specific.
A person sees sparkles and colors around people. She has perfect eyesight and her brain is perfectly normal.
She also feels when something is off, or not right. Sort of like a sixth sense, only it involves all of her senses.
All five of her senses work as well as the rest, but as time progresses, they enhance.
What do you think?
my son is very sensitive to certain sounds but his is due to problems with his brain.
Sounds as if somebody is able to 'see' aura's/ energy fields.
Also other areas of sensitivity seem to be growing.
i agree, probably developing aura seeing abilities as well as an attuning to other hyper sensitive qualities
perhaps doing some research on aura detecting will help clear some things up
Fatigue.
I'd say that they are just tired. Those are the main symptoms, wouldn't you agree?
And if ongoing: maybe depressed?
i believe that sensitivity is a form of weekness but i also believe everyone experiances it atleast once in there life
I believe that she might be able to see people's auras and things of that nature, and as far as being able to tell when something isn't right and sensing the emotions of those around here...maybe the person is an empath of sorts.
The single most common reason for enhanced or extraordinary senses Territhian is the neurological firings or mis-firings of the brain. There are a number of "conditions" that can cause that and it does not mean one is ill or 'out of sorts'. That being said, The individual you describe has aquired an auric vision and hipper sensitivity. I myself also have hipper sensitivity with mostly sight, sound, and smell. As you have stated, none of my senses have really failled or been 'diminished', but in my case it is the neurologicals of my brain which is caused by A.S. That does not mean I am ill, it only means I am different. I would say enjoy the 'gifts' you have and protect yourself from sensory overload.
I would pay attention to Oceana ideas first. Also get your eyes checked by an optomistrist or Opthomologist. Also, seeing sparkles can be the aura you see before a migraine sets in.
To the initial posting, I seem to be over sensitive in many respects.
I am very sensitive to light, which is very likely due to my light blue eyes (lets in more light) and my good vision (light is better focused).
My hearing is awesome. I can hear the slightest high frequency noise from accross a large lab area over the droning sound of hundreds of computer cooling cases.
My failing tends to be in smell and taste.
As to your follow up posting that alludes to sixth sensing abilities, I am a skeptic, since I lack these abilities and have not had them demonstrated to me in a capacity that I would be a believer.
that person might be tied to animals that are sensitive to those things
I just think its your senses heightened.. nothing too out of the ordinary.
it really depends on the certian subject that the person is sensitive to....it could be a number of things
a) Migraine
b) You're a "sensitive," or psychically inclined.
On an episode of Paranormal State," Ryan said that "what makes (sensitives) interesting to supernatural entities is that they have the ability to notice back." I think that sums it up.
I would think that you are just extra sensitive to these things your sense are probably just hightened more than others. If it becomes a serious bother or you start to get migraines or your eyes start to to really hurt becasue of too much light, or you feel more pressure in your head to get it checked out.
Perhaps developing the ability to see auras - check into that.
Could be migraines, several see the color migraine auras and not really develop headaches, just colors.
Something to see an eye doctor about and to delve more deeply into auras. But medically check out first.
Those are some good ideas. This has been going on for nearly three years, ever growing. Ive had my eyes checked, and I dont have any issues other than being slightly bipolar (due to genetics). I dont believe I could be depressed, or anything of the sort.
As for the migrane theory, I am well used to the moving black dots I get before a migrane. The sparkles are normally white or blue. The dont do much much but every once in a while, only about 5 times in the past 3 years, they have seemed to "dance" if you could understand that.
I understand skeptisism towards someone having what seems to be a sixth sense. I probably wouldnt believe it either if it wasnt me it was happening to. I dont think of it as a sixth sense per say, but more of my inner being warning me. Its wierd, and not very easy to explain.
Thank you. I love to hear your opinions on this. If there are any more please share them.
Some people are more sensitive to things like that. I don't think there will be any way to rationally explain it.
yeah there really are many reasons for this. but some are also semsitive to elements
a personal response ~
I'm photosensitive: in that bright/white light give me blinding headaches, like migraine.. but at the same time, I'm highly tuned into people emotions.. in other words, I'm a sensitive.. who can practice certain form of divinity.
The first is physical.. the second.. well I just figure I use my senses nearer their full, than some do.
or maybe they just dont want to hear or see whatever they say they are sensitive too
That your senses are hightened for some reason. Mediacally or supernaturally.
If you've been checked out medically and still feel that sense of warning -- pay attention to it. Some things have not yet been scientifically explained, although I have confidence that science will eventually catch up in this area, as it has in many others. For example, what mystics have long known as the human aura, science has now verifed as the Human Energy Field, or HEF. There are special cameras that can take pictures of it for those who can't see it on their own, and other living things have it too -- animals and plants. There were some lovely pictures of these plant auras in an issue of Parabola magazine several years ago. Anyway -- I've learned the hard way that one ignores these feelings and intuitions at one's own peril. Some say that this sort of sensitivity is more of a difficulty than an enhancement, but I, for one, am glad to have it.
Hon...what your are experiencing is a personal experience to you...only you know if it is normal or not.
If you feel that these are gifts that have been bestowed on you and you are wanting to learn more...then research the subject to see if that is what you are experiencing.
It isn't as if any one of us can diagnose you in what you are experiencing...so take matters into your own hands and research, research, research. Then draw you own conclusions from what you have learned.
A common name for people that are sensitive to all of this or just some of what you have mentioned is Empath. They relate highly to other people because they can read how they feel, and see auras.
Good, I like this.
You see, there are so many times I come into the forums, and SOMEONE is asking, “OMG am I a vampire? I like the taste of blood! I must be a Vampire!” and everyone has to take time out of their daily lives to tell these people, “If you don’t know, and need to go to a vampire website to find out, YOU PROABABLY AREN’T!”
Now, with that being said, I’ll turn to you. I dearly hope you haven’t jumped to such conclusions in your case. There are many medical reasons for your sensitivity, and I, nor anybody that is not your physician, as the right (or credentials for that matter) to diagnose you. But, what I can do is maybe give you a couple articles you can read and tell your doctor at your next appointment.
For me, I experience bright light sensitivity, and my doctor as said that many people with bright eyes, or less pigment in them, are prone to sensitivity of this sort.
Also, some prescription drugs cause sun sensitivity, and you may want to check out this link http://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/sun-sensitizing-drugs
Thank you for your opinions. I have checked the link, but do not use any of those medications. I dont have any idea as to what it could be. No, i do not believe I am a vampyre or anythin other than human. I just wondered what other people thought. Its just part of who I am, loving others opinions. Thank you for your time.
You mentioned that you were somewhat bi polar? Might I ask..what about adhd? or add?
Small case if not non-existent case of add. It isnt diagnosed or anything, and it isnt obvious, so I dont count it.
It could be your genetic make up M'Dear....You could be just more sensitive to those things than the next person...Or really gifted
not to discredit a person to have a gift however there are many medical conditions that can mimick these symptoms and before a person thinks they are "gifted" so-to-speak they should get checked out ... there is a form of epilepsy that causes you to smell and see things ... actually it's very dangerous when it goes untreated.
I have a sensitivity to the light because my eyes are light blue and I'm fair skined. I have to wear dark colored sunglasses and at night when I drive the headlights of oncomming traffic really bother me to the point that I get a severe headache. There is nothing you can do about it some people with light colored eyes are just more sensitive to light than others.
I have grayish blue eyes, but rarely do I get migranes because of light, normally from being exhausted and then having to argue or listen to yelling.
That would give anyone a damn headache..I asked earlier, but perhaps you didnt see it...Any dealings with add or adhd?
it's considered a medical condition on some levels (very mild autism, for example), so i would go get that checked out. could be a nervous system disorder.
Aah, yes, one of my favorite subjects. I have heightened sences.....my sence of smell is very high as is my feeling of things emotionally. I think unless we are blind or otherwise impaired, heightened sences come from being enlightened and in tune to the universe, IE Vampires.
Thats what I was saying Kontradiction, there are quite a few medical reasons that one would be hyper sensitive.. at least 2 dozen off the top of my head ..sensitive is one thing, hypersensitive is another.
I would certainly see a neurologist if it is hypersensitivity.
it is on both good and bad. many sensitive persons not feel comfortable with it.
definately look into aura seeing and empath like gifts...
you dont have to get migranes... that is a horse of a differant color... I on the other hand now get chronic headaches which is something other and much differant than migranes but it has nothing to do with the sensitivity to light that is how I have always been and have had to protect my eyes from the light.
People sensitive to anything especially light, emotion, and spiritual areas or entities are usually from the stars or a celestial being of some kind. Or they are empathic and can find a great intensity in the smallest of things.
Simply sensitive. Like how someone can be sensitive to emotion, or the like.
A person who is a "Sensitive" in the paranormal world has an enhanced sensitivity in the areas of sight, sound, touch and communication. They may see objects (spirits, ghost, orbs) that the normal person can not. They may hear sounds or voices or even feel when something paranormal is close and could even have a high sensitivity to E.M.F. These sensitives normally have the ability to communicate with the dead.
See,to me DeadAir,that is not sensitive, thats normal. Some just dont recognise it for with it is.So when someone says they are sensitive to those things, that is a red flag for me.I guess it is all how one percieves things..perhaps I misunderstood the context of her question.
With that in mind,I would like to bring this up..if one is "sensitive" to sound, does it mean that the person is highly affected by it? Such as irritability? Is it painfull?Make one angry? or does it simply evoke a strong emotional response? It is proven fact that sound has a profound effect on everything. No sensitive there, that is normal.
And the reason I say this,is because to me,if a person is highly in tune to sound, that means they are going to have perfect pitch, and are able to tell what a note is upon listening to it for one moment.Know instinctively where a song will go next,etc..
If they are in tune to the Earth, they feel the barometrics rise and fall, they know rain is coming and the storms, long before anyone else, and among other things, they can feel when earth quakes and things are coming..
We are surrounded by EMF,it effects everyone in one way or another..normal.
Emotions are easy ,many, many peeps are empathetic to others emotions.Seeing colours around peeps..that can happen too, whether it is caused by the colours someone wears or the light..thats All normal. One can see kinetic energies? But not just around peeps..around anything that has life.Normal..at least to me.
But when one says "sensitive" In my mind, that means they will cry at the drop of a hat and laugh at the same time.See stars or large auras around peeps, cringe at sounds .Not a good way to be...and it just might be time to see the Doc.
Just so you know where Im coming from.
Um,one the soap box here so sorry, one more thing...I have found that a certain thing happens when it comes to these "gifts" or "sensitivity" What ever you choose to call it.I just call it "stuff."
And this is speaking for myself, and those I know for a fact to have any one of these traits or all...There is never a question on the persons mind as to what it is.If you got it,you know it.plain and simple. You instinctively know how to find information on it, and no one needs to tell you if you if that is what you have..you will know. And you normally know at a young age too..whether it is a thing with animals , music or colour and light. No two ways about it,its solid in your core.I will say follow your gut on this, because it will tell you more than anyone ever can.
Territhian,I have something for you to try.I read your profile and see that you are a bassist..Evidenty Guitar too, because you have a pic of you playing one.
Take your bass and detune it as far as possible without loosening too much. Then turn the volume up quite a bit.SoftlyStrike you A string and let it resonate while you bring it up to where you believe or feel is A440.Then openly tune your EDG strings to fit.Once you have done that, play your A harmonics as you resonate your opn A string. You should be able to feel the wave lengths in the air at this point quite clearly.Turn your machine heads on each string as you play the harmonic untill you feel these waves lengthen, and feel as though they stand still or begin to reverse..When you feel this, your pitch is dead on,and you are in tune. Now hook up to a strobe and see how close you have come..
Empath's have a sensitivity to many things the average person does not even notice... We are yet to discover what ablility many people will be blessed with in our future... Nonetheless, check all options for safety and health.
doru you and oceanne are so on target you need to explore for health and safety first and eliminate and possible medical issues because if they are left unattended than there can be severe problems later on. If there isnt any than you know which path to take and learn.
I really dont want to discount the fact that you might be emathetic and all that, but honest, when it comes to something like this,it is very important to really try to understand something you might have been diagnosed with. And from what you have said,it could very well be the case, because you must keep in mind that those who have Bi Polar can experience perceptual changes, and sensitivity to taste, smell, light, colour and sound. If you would like to investigate it further let me know,I would be happy to send you some things.I wish you the very best in finding the answers you seek on this.
"Small case if not non-existent case of add. It isnt diagnosed or anything, and it isnt obvious, so I dont count it."
Im very sorry, I did not see your post.
I kindof thought it was a possibility albeit extremely slight..But let me just say, that no matter how slight or insignificant you feel it might be,and even if you do not experience many of the things that others with add might have if it is present even a little, it is possible you could exibit symptoms..ie ultra sensitivity.Might I ask why it is you feel you could be a little add?
I sometime think it in reverse I have" callused" myself
from the routine stimulation to the senses,I notice that people who pick sources for assessement struggle to lock in on any one source of data so i fade all other routine stimulation and that which is a variable is key to assessement of a situation.Example a person is yelling at another person...Hostile?or reheresed tone comes into play then one would look at the arrangement of the source of the yelling stance and position,as well as those around them, how they interact to the situation
then if nothing else stands out fade that along with the yelling now switch to visual, scent and rarely touch.
I think that it could be both. Some people are just overly sensitive to external stimuli; others may be 'tuned in' to paranormal influences. It all depends on the person!
I think that the person is just sensitive. But if they have all of those at the same time then it might be something more. It would be a bit odd to have them all at once.
Sensitive properties of individuals vary from person to person. One may extremely sensitive to sound, but lack this in sight. Or the other way around. I think it is just this, and nothing more.
The body maybe compromisses all aspects after eash persons interests by train some sences to be higher?
Just because someone is overly sensitive to things that most people arent doesn't mean they aren't human it just means that they are more sensitive to certain things...its kind of like a food alergy you know?
To piggy back off of whats already stated, it could be a number of things. I have natural sensitivities but when I fall ill everything is heightened. My sense of smell is crazy as well as sound and sight.
Sometimes is very Sensitive to Things like that depends on mood sometimes worse on other days... and well yeah.. knows each person is differnt but very good question
gothbaby6 -
That can be explained also by one losing one of their senses, and the others being enhanced, no?
Sensitivity issues are not a reason to discount someone's humanity. There is a wide range of illnesses or causes for sensitivity to pitches, tones, light, etc
I agree that there are medical conditions that do give the impression of a sixth-sense... But I don't discredit this extra sensory gift, either.
I have really sensitive hearing, and sensitivity to light - The way my body is, I can't take too much of either. I get really bad migraines because of it sometimes (Not all the time, every once in a while)
I am very sensitive to other people's emotions - I can pick up on how they're feeling - Not just based on what they say or the way they act or anything of that nature. I really can feel what others are feeling... I think that's because I've had a lot of powerful emotional experiences in my life, and I just became able to pick up on it.
Well, sensitivity depends on the individual. I believe that people who are more sensitive to sounds, light sources, etc. are more in tune with their extra-sensory perception(ESP). That's just my opinion :)
Sensitivity can be anything and anyone can have it. Though it may vary with one person to the next.
Well this is something that the individual has to find out for themselves. It could be a medical problem, or you could be a vampire! >=)
I think most people see the things that sensitive people do they just write it off as some thing else and move on.
Aura, Colors, spots and other "odd" things can all be written off as all sorts of things and ignored.
Thank the powers that be for the gift and take care who you speak to about it as some will think you nutz or depressed as some one here stated.
I am sensitive to light, sound and noise myself and get migraines because of it. As a psychic I am mediocre so personally I don't think there is much of a connection for me at least. Other people could be a different matter entirely. I just think my senses are a little more heightened than others nothing more or special about it.
i am not 100% on this but i think that it is just that the are more perseptive to them
I see any amount of things that aren't there because I have issues with my temporal lobe. It doesn't hurt me and it isn't dangerous, but it makes for full sensory hallucinations. It took me quite a few years to come to terms with it but I was very glad to find it had a mundane cause.
I would always suggest that you look for the medical reasons first as to neglect them as symptoms could be dangerous to both mind and body.
It depends on if you are talking about 'real' vampire and the mythical vampire...
Mythical vampires are supposedly the undead so I'd guess because of the undead factor somehow gives them the inability to walk in the light...being they are evil creatures.
'Real' vampires are humans in my opinion...I don't even see how its possible someone can call themselves a vampire but I doubt that all these so called 'vampires' are actually anything to the liking of the mythical. Though it is possible for humans to develop alergies, and diseases which make them unable to go out into the sunlight without protection it is a very rare alergy to find.
I believe that they would be humans that are sensitive. Take me for instance, I have a sensitivity to light. Light hurts my eyes, but I am not in any sort of a mythical creature. I am just a human with light sensitivity.
well if you mean a human EVP lol!!! I like the way that sounds but that would be a medium sensitive to seeing hearing and or feeling a spirits presents I'm not sure what you mean as far as sensitive the being above me has expressed sensitive in a different form then I so I need specifics on what you are talking about in terms of being sensitive.
I call myself a "sensitive" because I sense the dead spirits...sometimes i am sent dreams and sometimes i see them especially when it is dark....i smell smells no one else can and feel vibes off of people....i'm a weirdo
It could anything from a health issue to something much larger that most would frown upon.
Some are just lucky. Age has alittle to do with is, lifestyle does also.
It could be paranormal stuff or as simple as a health issue. Who know?
I know when people take about me and who's behind me when I meditate.
Autistic people have a higher sensativity to ligths, sounds, touch, ect.
