What would your ideal vampire do with extra time? Of course he/she would lay waste to a legion of humans, but what creative things might your vampire indulge in?

I think even Vampires learn new things all the time, so I would say that they would continue to grab as much knowledge as possible.

I"m sure they'd develop hobbies out of boredom, music, writing, etc.

Probably would try a lot of different things, I mean they've got some time to kill, lol.

I think they would try to learn new skills, find new things to do because doing the same stuff for a long time is boring.

Also they would have to continue to find ways to blend with society, I would think.

I would probably spend a century or two in college. You can't have too much education haha.

They coudl do what everyone said and end up like Lastat and start a rock group. Who really knows?

thay would have to evolve with time.... but i think it would be easier to be a vampire now....

I think it would be cool to learn a ton of languages and learn as many musical instruments as possible. Who needs to be a musical prodigy when you have that much time. It would be a shame if you were tone deaf though haha.

I would spend my time slaughering all involved in this activity, while spending my days dining on some of those fine specimens of genetically altered humans.

I would bind them, torture them with garlic, silver, and sunlight, and then force-feed pints and pints of the finest bio-engineered blood into them while televising it to all of vamp-dom.

yeah, I'd learn all that I possibly could and go to all kinds of wonderful places. I'd amass a fortune so that I could live well. After all, why spend eternity poor? But then, I might just find people who would actually cure some of the stupid diseases that mankind has brought upon himself. After all, at the rate we're going, I would far outlast mankind if we keep heading done this road to destruction we all seem to be traveling. I would not want to outlive my source of energy after all.

My imaginary vampire would play cribbage, a great game, very time consuming.

My Inner Vampire would amass a wealth beyond measure,privately run shadow companies(keeping my anonymity) to oversee the world's top ten powerful companies in order to bend the ears of world leaders thereby ensuring i get my way...Muahahahaha oh and surf the net in my spare time browsing Ebay for cheapass appliances i don't really need.

Vampires would most likely lean towards hedonism, so would probably develop sartorial tastes. Probably become Byronic poets, Artists, Writers - maybe even develop these talents and eventually move into movie production. i expect they would tend to make lavish costume dramas, gothic romances, and lots of movies that glamorise and romanticise vampirism, so influencing generations of movie viewers into accepting the Vampire lifestyle. that's what i would do.

Or they could sit around watching Buffy re-runs

cribbage certainly. according to many old legends, Vampires are fascinated by puzzles and games. according to one myth, you can keep a vampire out of your house til dawn by pouring a pile of rice or wheat grains over your doorstep - he won't cross it until he has counted every grain. another states that a vampire wil not leave his grave if you put a tangled net on it until he has untangled and fixed it.

anyone who can solve a rubics cube in less than five seconds is undoubtedly a vampire. i expect japanese vampires are obssessed by sudoku. the same is true of computer games. that is why vampires always seem to have talon like clawed hands in the movies - they all suffer from RSI

I'm not trying to push us too far off of topic here but what karnstein describes sounds a lot like OCD to me.

Maybe its just all that free time or maybe all that time just makes you a perfectionist. After all, whats the sense in doing something half assed if you have ages to figure out how to do it perfectly...

Vampyres with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, this is a new one :D

With that much of enough time I would induldge my self in the study of all and everything. There would be nothing that I do not know. If it means survival, science, or a plane exibiton show off, it would all be in my mastery, mistake would not be an option. I would use the time to educate my self to perfection, and with that I would gain nummerous of unsurpassable abilities. Wasting legion of humans? That would get borring in my case, in about three days. I would concentrate all the knowledge to understand how to create eternal, everlasting things, wich do not change thieir condition and change in to decay like everything in this universe, but stay forever the way they were intended to stand, forever. That would be the pinnacle of the eternal life to study and understand.

vampires are often depicted as being highly competative, and i see over competativeness as a form of OCD. i suppose its a matter of going one way or another - either become fixated on being the best at something, or succumb to lethargy. perhaps being singleminded is necessary to retain a grip on "life".

I suspose it would not take too long before boredom festers. I would spend many days and and night with a good book and have a killer cellar full of vinatage wines from another time.

If I were immortal I would spend all of my extra time trying to improve my photography skills and also my writing skills. I would read alot, and travel the world. Basically the stuff that I want to do now.

Yeah Bloodmother I think the best way to learn about a culture is to live there and if your going to be a vampire well you can live there for as long as it takes to master the language, and learn all the good places to go. I think it would be fun.

Every thing that i had expected as a child in my life that I could not amount to for fear of lost time. So the more or lesss least important things that were always running trough my head.

Learn new languages. I love to talk. Read till my eyes fall out.

I, as I think many would do if faced with eternal life, would spend time learning and gaining wisdom. Learning skills and whatnot. Because really, you're going to need a few hobbies to pass the time :p
I think I'd also hang onto things and keep them for hundreds of years so I can sell them later... good way to make money when you're undead, he he he.

Seraphimus came close to what my inner vamp would do in the creation of shadow companies to create wealth so that I might pursue the continued learning and studying w/protection.

Promoting World Peace is a worthy goal, but my vamp is a loner, and a voyeur. I see her eavesdropping on conversations and following interesting individuals. Mundane human activities fascinate her, as if she is an alien observer of our species.

Travel around the world to the remote place tourist wouldn't dare.

If I was a vampire I guess I would study different subjects in the arts or something since I would have alot of time to get it right.

I would do alot of schooling, and find new hobbies (that go with the modern age at that time), try to build some good profit and non-profit organizations to help needy kids and animals. I hope other vampires would do the same if not then close to.

A researcher... and archaeologist... someone that can tell an accurate story of the past. A first hand account of what has already transpired. That would be ideal.

The sky is the limit. most vampires would have to live out there lives alone cuz either there kind had been killed or others just run around on there own due to boredom. the possibilities are endless. they would have to get night jobs. lol

since they will live longer than any of us, as the world changes and many new things are created they will have more to learn, to teach others, and more opportunities to keep themselves occupied. I surely would. It would facinate? me to no end to see things grow, die , change, adapt and all that.

Learning to master a mired of skills from craftsman's in leather and woodworking (no stake thru the heart jokes) To fine arts, painting drawing. Not to forget amassing a small fortune along the way and breaking more hearts then could be counted LOL

Well, once humankind disappeared, I'm sure at first she'd do all the things she's always wanted. But it would turn out to be the classic, "I have no one to share it with" theme. I bet she would probably start reading all the books she can before the world comes to an end.

I love the library idea. I think since i would hopefully be rich from years of investing i would be able to travel from country to country learning the culture and language and writing them down.

I'd take advantage to develope the perfect personality :P it wouldn't be that hard, just have to fine-tune things you do and stuff.
