so if to vampires mated would it be possible for them to have a baby if so would the baby ever grow? Is it only possible to make another Vampire by biting some one and do you think it would be possible for a pregnet woman to have a baby if she where bittin as in Blade?

I dont think 2 vampires mating could produce a baby because yes they are immortal and need blood but they dont have bodily organs that work. As for the blade thing i think that could be very possible.

i think that vampires would not be able to have babies, they are not alive in the first place, as for like in the movie blade, there is the answer, its a movie, not likely to happen in real life. just my opinion of course

WoOt Hollywood! I can't see two vampires procreating...that would entail the possibility of the female vampire having menstrual cycles prior to pregnancy...which would kind of be weird...and opens up a new can of worms that I won't get into!

I have been trying to have children and three different woman all had miscarages. My thinking is perhaps, I have not found the right woman to bare my children if any for that matter. Blade was made to have that done in the movie to make it very different and interesting. The funny thing it worked for the most part they made three sequals and alot of comics from him alone.

I don't think it would be possible. Why do you think they need to turn humans into vampires otherwise? Because if they didn't, their race would die out.

Who is to say that "traditional" vampires cannot reproduce? miraculous things happen all the time. Who is to say what a "traditional" vampire actually is? Over time, traditions are always misconstrude with misinformation.

I think it is entirely possible for trueblood to procreate as well as give birth. Even though the gene skips generation, does not mean the couple procreating were vampires. Mayhaps one of their bloodline were, thus the generation skipped. Or mayhaps, one of them without knowing it...Which is theoretically improbable since they would have known from day one.

True vampires can indeed have babies, but their incubation period is far longer than that of a human.

it depends which mythology / fiction you want to go by. isome stories, vampires are possessed by demons, or are nephilim, so they can reproduce sexually. they are often closely connected to incubi and succubi who can reproduce. in R Chetwynd Hayes books vampires often mate with werewolves, ghouls, humans, and other hybrids to produce yet further hybrids with different powers.

the question really comes down to "does a vampire have a working body with working parts?" well if it didn't, then staking through the heart wouldnt really do it any harm would it?

what if it's a vampiric soul reborn in the body of a human? then i can see that being a yes... but if you're talking movie vampires , then no.

The stories and legends on vampires is far and fast! I think vampires could have children. If they can't they can always bite a child they want to adopt.

Well, it -could- be possible, being everything Evolves over a long long long period of time.
Vampires can't possibly stay traditional forever, just like humans cannot either.

Everything eventually evolves, so its a possibility that maybe vampires may or may not be able to bare children as they evolve. But being they are Undead it may not even be a possibility at all...

I do not believe this is even a valid question as the living dead are sterile. If a child is turned (Claudia - IWTV movie example) then the child can stay with his or her maker. But as was mentioned above, movies can do anything. Real life has yet to prove.

Because they aren't dead...they are UNDEAD. Dead means something dead and it ain't moving or needing to feed. Undead...well there ya go. :)

There seems to be a need for the definition of undead here. Undead means no longer alive but animated by a supernatural force.

I don't believe that the people claiming themselves vampires in real life are undead in any way. So with that in mind, yes the physical, eating, breathing vampire could have children.

The Hollywood/literature type, no they are the description of undead & therefore I believe that they could not. However both in book, movie & TV series it has been done. So if the author decided to allow it, then I guess it would be possible.

I think it depends on which book you are reading, they all say something different it seems and sometimes the kissing is just a maneuver to get to the neck........

People that live the lifestyle can of course. But I really am not sure about the inner workings of a true vampires body.

Since there are no "real" vampires, only people living the lifestyle of a vampire then yes they could breed. Unless they used protection.

First off there is no such thing as being turned or that being bitten makes anyone a vampire.One either is or is not a vampire.

I've always been told that two pure bred vampire can have child, and that it does grow to middle age, only somewhat slower as per they age very very slow.

if iam not mistaken in blade the mother was still alive when they took her into the hospital and died while they were takeing the baby. so i think that, that would be under diffrent cercumstance and may be possible but for a vampire to have babies no i dont think it would be possible at all..... vampirers are the liveing dead and in all the myths there organs are none working so it would be impossible for that to happen.

I highly doubt, myself, that two vampires could use the dead organs, an' if they were brand new vampires that they could regen'rate enough blood t' function those organs.

i was under the impression that when a vampire become a vampire that they could no longer do what humans do such as eating, drinking anything other then blood and having a baby.

In Hollywood, fictional vampires can do anything the author writes in the script, there are countless movie's with vampires having babies.

Real vampire's are as functional as any person and many do have baby's. Just go to the goth club's and you will meet sexual active vampires.

i do remember a story, although novel, that adresses this. although fiction, it did answer a few things..... apparently, all male vamps aree super fertile, in tht every time they make love a child is born. howevr, do to the nature of us all, the child tears its way out of the mother, killing her.... this was "evolved" to spread the species

Vampires can have children. We are not talking about the movie vampires and in most of them they do reproduce some how. Real Vamp can reproduce and have children that do grow up. The fictional one can not cause they are fictional.

The menstral cycle would use a lot of blood not to mention the blood needed for an erection. Not to mention the loss blood to the brain would atrophise(sp?) the brain leaving them Brain dead or seriously mentally retarded.

In my opinion, no. In movies and books I suppose anything is possible, but unlikely. How would a fetus in the womb grow if the mother is technically dead? How would the growing child in the womb be nourished? All of the mothers vital organs are technically dead and incapable of providing a growing child in the womb with it's needs.

I remember reading in a book once that if a female vampire was to fall pregnant the embryo would simply be absorbed again by the body.

There are some books in literatue that do have vampire having babies with breedmate females, other books say no, that vampire can not have babies. It is an interesting concept either way.

but many authors have used the idea of "vampire offspring" as a story board....

In the movie, "Van Helsing".... Dracula and his Brides had many offspring that were born dead, and did not live until Dracula used Dr. Frankenstein's science to animate them....

in addition, a comic called "Bite Club" had the adult pure blood children of vampires fight amongst themselves for control of their family.....

but with other stories, the only way Vampires could create other Vamps... was thru a blood transference....

As a final point on this topic for me, the reason why vampires could and did commonly have children by their Human female lovers is quite simply due to the fact that... despite the vilifications to the contrary... they were not reanimated corpses, at all. Instead, they were a uniquely gifted race descended from the original "Fallen Angels" who were hated and hunted to near extinction by men who did not possess their unique "Dark Gift" and who were insanely jealous of just how much this unique "gift" attracted women to them.
