The Hobby I have (creating hauntings) has shown me a large spectrum of responses to unexplained occurances. There are those that claim to have exposure to Para-Normal activity that are spooked more then those that are new to the whole experience. There are people that could not have witnessed the effect that chime in with their account (made up, and usually more exagerated then the actual witnesses.)

The question for discussion.

What varied responses have you seen to unexplained activity, or perceived activity?

Does this effect the way you receive a persons account of a sighting?

Please be detailed with your responses, if you where scared.. explain how long it took you to calm down, how that effected the other witnesses. Getting caught in hysteria of a spooked group is likey to create problems with observation of the event. I have seen people lay other flat running from "bumps in the night".. they then blame the "ghost" for tripping them.

well other responses i have heard are usually just people saying it was just your imagination, or if they are missing something then find it in the same spot they just looked its always " i must have over looked it" does it change the way i take what they say? nope, because everyone has the right to think what they want and express that belief in what ever way they see fit, my response to every one is smile and nod perhaps look at them and say, really?

Have you ever noticed when some one is spooked that they want others to be just as excited as they are ?

I have noticed that most people are more edgy and/or jumpy around such activity if they don't know about it and can feel it or if they can't feel it and know about it. Those that know about and feel it I find to be less sensitive to the uneasiness it can produce.

Sometimes the exgerated responses make it hard for others to observe what actually could still be happening.. like the person that all.. "OMG .. OMG.. There is something out there.. OmFG.. !!! Can you hear that.. Okey I know you heard that... I feel a draft.. something is cold here.. OMFG.. " all that time a person is trying to find the location of the source of the sound or unexplained activity.

I notice that when you actually calm a person down to ask them what they saw or heard they are all about that very moment, if you ask them what they where doing, or what they heard before the occurence, they have no idea. you learn a lot about people after they are spooked.

I never saw most of what my Mother claimed to see and hear.

Only once as a child I experienced something para-normal.

I was in bed and I heard footsteps coming up the stairs, three lots of three, two lots coming up ( that's when I screamed ) who's there....then one set of three going down.

I was alone in the house at the time.

It was'nt a good start, but when I got older and lost the fear I was able to give more thought to things.

My mum see’s them in her dreams a lot … like clockwork.
When she wakes it’s all over, but when asleep she has the most chronic vivid dreams and screams out… very restless.
At first we placed it down to bad dreams and over active mind….however She has woke after talking to people who have passed away that night, told us what message they were saying and to our horror finding those people did just pass away that night.

I have had people several people brush off what they had seen as a trick of the light...or figment of their imaginations...they usually don't want to believe they saw what they think they had. Most of them were not raised to believe in the paranormal.
They don't talk about it ever again and usually if they return to the place of where it occurred they tend to avoid the areas of experience.

Luckily my mom would let us kids tell her what we saw and never told us we hadn't seen what we had seen. We lived in a lot of older houses growing up...and with out her experiencing some of the same events it might have been a little different. Some things still freak me out...but you learn to live with most of it and what you can't you try to tune out

Growing up I lived in a very old house that seemed to have several different entities, much of the reason I am fascinated with the unknown today. I recall my reactions always being of extreme fright, almost paralyzed, not a sound out of me.

I noticed kids are open more to the paranormal then us. As children when we grow we are told to stop believing in any paranormal things. But for me i just hid it and didnt say anything. I think others do the same as they dont want to admit that they see, hear or dream anything out of the ordinary. i see orbs around certain people but i wouldnt go up to them and tell them except if i know they are a believer.

I like to take people to known "haunted" areas and others I takes to just creepy places and see how they react.

I get similar responses for both:
"X this is freaking me out"
"Look it's a demon!"
"Na, it's nothing just the wind"
"X can I hold your hand"

and my personal favourite
"OMG I can even smell it....it..it it's got me!"

Now I have witnessed many (like a lot lol) real supernatural/ paranormal things and I have seen the way people tend to follow the "feelings" of another and the whole psychosomatic thing.

What I have found is those in a situation where they know little specifics about something tend to act more accurately and actually see or experience the real thing as opposed to those who get the full run down " Theres a ghost that lives here, and does this, and this...).

So yeah I think I answered the questions posed :)

Very well actually X right on forum.

Now about what has not been mentioned.. how about those sentimental entities? As a ghost I would be shattered to focus onto coming thru, only to have the person I reach freak out and scatter the connection. Having people doubt your account is a gamble we take, a sighting could be meant for your eyes only.

I get plenty of paranormal visitors into my home. They used to scare my children and I, but after speaking with various religous leaders: christian, pagan, vaudan, etc... all of which advised me to embrace my visitors and speak to them as though they were simply another guest in my home, as long as they were not violent to any family member. To this day we still get visitors and we treat them as visitors and they pass on when they want. Some love to move things around, some turn things on and off, and some just give us cold spots and weary feelings but thats about it for now.

Taken stock of what happens relative to the place it happens is a good thing to note when an unexplained event happens if you wish to share with others these "details" are valid to separate your testimony from all the other claims. It is not uncommon for another person that was with you (but not in position to witness) to connect themselves to your sighting as well. to avoid this a simple caution, Ask all in proximity if they noticed anything out of the ordinary, Not "Did you just see that ghost?" But anything out of the ordanary.. , you may get an observation of other possible explainations, like yea that light across the street just flickered and caused a projection over that tombstone. Or you may get a simple "No, didn't notice anthing." Then if you share choose to share later the person is not likely to narrate themselves into your sighting. If they do it will stand out, they already disqualified themselves by their earlier statement.

Not too far from my house, there is an old asylum. It's right on the water and has been abandoned for decades. There are realtors/contractors dying to get their hands on property in my neighborhood, so I've always found it odd that this non-descript plot of serious acreage still stands untouched. Moving along...

I have taken a couple of friends for a ride through my neighborhood, mostly to look at all the houses and I always finish up at the drive-way of the asylum. There is a crescent driveway leading to a large, locked and rusty set of gates. It's there I stop the car and roll down the windows on the passenger side of the vehicle. I never say what the place is, instead, I continue conversation and lean back in the driver's seat nonchalantly. So far, every last person i have ever done this to has freaked out and given numerous responses ranging from:

"Does Norman Bates live up there?"
"Did you just see someone walk around that house?"
"What is that place? Do you see someone?"
"WTF! What is this place?! Why are you rolling down my window?"
"Oh shit! Someone turned on the light upstairs!! DRIVE!!"

The last response is my favorite since it came from one of my friends that built like the entire starting offensive line for the NY Giants.

The best part is that there IS a light on upstairs in this place but the whole house is completely run-down and completely locked up. The grounds are in ruin and, if not for that light, there is no sign of any life. I've been in this neighborhood for over ten years now and have never seen a person. Still, the light upstairs is the only room and only light.

I realize this has little to do with para normal activity. In this instance, it's the power of persuasion without any direct persuasion. A person's imagination can really scare the crap out of them -- I love that!

I was always honest when I told what I have experienced and never exageretad or lied, never had to and if people believe me or not their choice, all I have to say is, I know what I have expirienced and it was all real.

As for others, I have met some who told stories which were clearly made up and stating stuff like: I am the queen of vampires, a week later: I am Hekate and a week later another thing.

Those people sight the claims of others, usually basing theirs on key elements of the testimony of others, watching what questions they press on the stories of others before they share usually exposes them.

I think disbelieve and denial is the main response, even from people who are open minded towards these things, then you get the other end of the spectrum where people see the para-normal in everything....I would like to think I fall in the middle somewhere!

Like wise if people want to be scared .. or to see others scared.. they will project things that are actually shadows to be ghost..

Example, I haunt houses for a hobby, I set up three effects in a friends house, along with other active preexisting things that don't need to be rigged, like the force that rattles doors of a room down the hall when another door is closed suddenly, it is a vacuum that creates the effect, now as the people freak out you use another prop to create an image going around a corner, they are further lead to believe that they perceived an apparition, so much so in this case that we had to tell them it was an effect to get them back in the house.. yet there was still the one person in the group that actually claims they saw a ghost.. expectation plays a part in claimed sightings, to just sweeping all claims together can really be embarrass if some factor is uncovered that exposes the perceived ghost.

I recall the Scooby-Doo Show, They always uncover the creator, of the creature or phantom, as well as the motive. I like ghost stories as much as the next person, i weoulds like to hear more often, "I have a good ghost story." Insteed of, "Well I had a ghost sighting.." followed by some manufactured digest narrated tale, would it hurt people to admit that they have a creative tendency..
that their imaginations can drift and create things? I see a few examples of that here.. A breathe of air in a stagnant ghost filled room. It's sad when i see a person share a sentimental encounter, then right after there is a practical denouncement by the next post.. dismissing the persons sighting, followed by another sensational gratuitous fad claim, that dictates absolutely that only their "opinion" is valid on the topic..

I think one of the most common responses to paranormal happenings is denial. I've been with people before when strange things have happened which I've found very disturbing but which, by the next day, the others were denying had happened.

Well, it's not exactly haunting related, but I think it answers the question anyway.
I went to a day camp when I was twelve. Horrible though it was, I learned a few neat tricks. You know the whole "light as a feather, stiff as a board" thing? It's kind of like that. they called it "invoking the spirit" You had a personstand, eyes closed and relax. and then you would do a series of acts seven times in front of their body from the head to the toes, before making a gesture, similar to reeling in a fish. When you did this the person's arms would raise up in the air. Depending on the tightness around their wrists, you could tell if they had a good spirit or bad.
You coukld always tell a person who knew what was going on or who did not know. The ones who knew either lifted their arms too fast, or tried to keep them down. The people who didn't know moved in perfect time. There were no possible fakes. They were blindfolded, so they couldn't keep pace with the "reeler".

Witness to a lesser phenomena.. there are a few things you mention in a good post, one is light as a feather (and the responses to those purticapating in it.) then I think the term for the second phenomena is Kinisiology .. SP .. when a group is in dynamic sync. such things are likely to create bonding.. that is why it is used like a parlor game, with mystic patter put in by some who do it. kinisiology that one I am still looking into.. like holding rotten fruit and pushing an out stretch arm.. those are physio-phenomanal idio related things, commonly claimed by supporters of the occult to be mystic occurences. On subject though peoples response to what they witness very by preset beliefs, or suggestion, some may be out for the Tall Tale at the time, but soon see that one person is hung up on some mystic angle. A very good ice breaker, and way to spot the people in a group that may lack trust.

See the thread on sleep paralisis..

What about when people are obviously reacting to something that is actually something physical, when you know that it is what they thought to be paranormal. How do you seal with that, and then tell them that what you may have witnessed was "actual activity" keep in mind I address unexplained activity here.. the interpretation is souly to the individual, and depends on their vantage point.

I have had a fair few experiences and usually for me I vocally become paralysed. I can't speak or scream. The heart pounds, I am cold and break out in a sweat. Then I get the shakes! It takes time for me to calm down.

The most important thing I have noticed is that I suddenly get this feeling of danger, I am suddenly afraid for my life. Maybe this is because of the way the spirit passed on or the spirit is menacing.

With others I find they start to babble, want to talk their way either into believing it or out of believing it.

well i got aggrivated cause i was trying to do something. so i got up..walked straight to the clock..and simply asked it to please stop...then it just stopped completely. and sometimes the timer for the dryer goes off..we have the timer turned off to NOT sound. so its kind of interesting. doesn't bother me what so ever. it like runs in my family to feel presences. it makes me feel like im being watched over

I have seen people been so scared, that they are just in shock. Or they start screaming, I tend to go out to the battlefield here at night. It is haunted I will tell you from experience, and I myself have been scared enough to scream an just lock up. But for me most of the time its just an exciting experience, the aderenaline is amazing. Fear of the unknown, I guess thats what it is. I have taken ppl out there and they have actually doubled over in pain in certain parts of the battlefield, and just act like they cant talk. I guess its out of shock.

I would suggest as well, that the power of suggestion, can contribute to such scares.. but it is fun.. in an excelerating way.. that is why we go to "haunted houses" on halloween. A good thing it is to be scared.. astonished, and amazed, but how much are we creating of the experience, that is the question.

If an event occurs more then one time, it would be a good idea to hook-up a camera.

I have had people claim their houses to be haunted, they actually where very detailed in their account of activity.. so much so that after being there for 10 min. I was able to produce their ghosts, rattlers, and slammer ghost.. a crafty ghost that responds to movement, and specific
activity. All this was followed up by teaching them what cued the ghost activity.. later we had a party to demo to others their ghosts activity, the friends that said they where out of there minds.

what I did was investigate their claim. Very few claims ever make it past claims investigators, those investigators that jump at every case are usually just as hacked as fraud mediums. People debate sharing the things that perplex them mentally, things that are impressed on our senses are just as astonishing.. perhaps some avoid explaining the unexplainable activity the witness to avoid the common trappings of those that simple claim every trick of light to be ghost, or hope to spook others creating or mapping out a trick of light display. I have seen people press someone to say.."OK I was scared, I think that was a ghost.." only to have the people go.. Haha we scared you.. that was a case of someone not getting the astonishing reaction they had expected from a prank. Others wanting to have others scared as they where once scared. You better believe there are people that can still scare my with effects. I notice things that i call phenomena, they have a tangible origin, yet to me they are there.. nobody can debate that.

In response to those that claim people that don't accept hysteria over miss perception as ghost.. I feel that suggest denial on the part of an observational person. I want to invert that and state, The opposite is more common, and that is that, those that claim to have seen (and been scared by)what they thought to be a ghost.. etc., are in denial that they where scared by something normal. Insisting that they saw what others observed (after being scared) and how it was perceived as a ghost/UFO.

Sadly, I am analytical to a fault. I would the person calling UFOs swamp gas and would always look for the person with big feet and playing in the snow before I yell "SASQUATCH!" Still, in the off chance my imagination is taking me on a free ride, I do like to remember details for when I write. So, while I am a nay-sayer, I do enjoy the times when I have no convenient explanation. It's fuel for me to sadistically use on the next person! *insert wicked laugh here*

I know when I was younger I would be paralized with fear, not being able to move or speak,BUt that was when I really didn't know what was happening. Now that I'm older I just laugh about it.I'm use to things being moved or broken and the noise and the voices. No my sister on the other hand she gets a little scared at times but I think more annoyed at these spirits than scared. They play with her hair when she's laying down or pull her covers off the bed.I guess I'd be alittle annoyed too...

Dabbler I would consider it an anxiety attack on most occasions as anxiety is a form of living in constant fear. Although I have had ghostly encounters that left me rooted to the spot in absolute fear but there is little difference in the experience.

I do agree with you on hysteria. You tell one person there is a ghost in this house and describe the encounter in detail and after a time hundreds will have that self same experience. You will get your sceptics who will be in a minority but the rest will follow like sheep and believe simply because I think people want to experience these things, they really want to believe there is more to life than what their 5 senses reveal to them.

To be honest, I don't really know how I react. Yes, I have had some experience with the paranormal, however, each time was different. Each reaction was completely unlike the other. Like, one time, I was living in an old house, and I heard babies crying, when there were no babies in the house at the time, and no babies around the house either. It made me cry, because they sounded so alone and scared. And yet, another time my roommate and myself heard feet running down the hallway, and someone knocking on each of the doors, and laughing, a laugh that none of the people in the house that we lived in had. It scared us, and for a moment, we debated on who would open the door to see who was out there, when there really was no one. We were the only two there at the time. I don't think I ever go into hysteria whenever I witness the paranormal, though. Granted, I get scared, but I try to stay reasonable. It's happening for a reason, so why should I go all kung fu on a spirit I can't harm right?

As for reactions I see Generally I hear one of a few phrases:

"Oh shit! That's nuts!"
"Naw...it's not real."
"This can't be happening to me! Why me!?"
"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!?"

And my favorite, "MAKE IT STOP!" As if I could do that! *pfft!*

Generally though, if someone is telling me that they saw something paranormal, I ask to see proof, or if there were other witnesses. A lot of the time, the "paranormal" things people see happen after they have watched a horror film and are still jumpy. And generally whenever people tell me such things I'll look at them and be like, "What movie did you watch tonight?" If it was a horror film, then I don't really put much thought into it.

I have noticed that whenever people get excited about something, they do try to make others feel that excitement too. They try their best to make the other person understand, saying stuff like, "No...I know what I saw and that was not a shadow! I'm telling you...it was real!" I usually raise an eyebrow and nod.

As for the sentimentality of it, I think...if I was a spirit, and I was trying to reach out to someone and end up scaring them instead, I'd feel a little apologetic, but at the same time, I wouldn't care. I'd have to do something to get them to pay attention, right? What choice do I have. If I scared them, I'd stalk them until they got the point that I wasn't going to go away unless I got what I needed to get done, finished.

I'm not sure if I covered all of the questions, but I sure tried. That's my scoop on it all though.

i believe prior to any paranormal activity it is how one perceives anything paranormal and how their outlook on death is to what they will experience also if they have a great imagination that is creative that will also be in effect be it when they have an experience or think they have an experience.

NartinaLeMaliki , a solid post. Thantos as well. I find my encounters happen in a sentimental way.. usually sitting in an environment that I once shared with the person that passed on. It is very subtle, one can strenghten this with effects from a passed loved one, this may not be "pulling them back to this world" but it is a receiver for something to come through the static veil.

Ghost I imagine would have a motive rather then to just scare someone.

It is said when a friend shares a sentimental encounter they had.. only to have the friend expound on what the "accepted" ghost encounter is, or how attuned they are (and more vivid) to ghost then the friend sharing.

People seek three things from ghost.. and sadly one of those is entertainment. Followed by (in no order) sentiment, and mysterious/curiosity/oddity.

The spooked reaction is an eccelorator effect, the more people around you that share in the ecceloration the more intense it is. Setting up ones self or friends to have "encounters" sometimes is a wasted practice, they are so expectant of what they are fixed on seeing, that they miss the activated effects, however they sometimes find their own "apperition" or "bump in the night". Learning the reaction of people, and their accounts bonds a group, so that someday when some event occurs (an actual physical event) their account will have a foundation above the person that "blew up" the staged encounter. Kind of a way to flush out the hyper spaz in a group, the Shaggy, and Scooby, among Thelmas, and Whatever the driver of the Mystery Machines name was.

the only time i have witnessed something unexplainable the group of people i happened to be with all went silent.
no one said a word during the event
but afterwards none of us could keep our mouths shut

it was mostly excitement and "see i told you"s
no one was really frightened by it due to the fact that some of them had witnessed it before and i had been very skeptical

of course it wasn't anything major, just some foot steps up stairs and cold drafts

i found it fun more than anything... perhaps due to the people i was with

I would place that account on a high end of claim sightings. Your response involves a clear picture of the events, and what happened. As well as the reaction during and after your encounter.

as far as how i myself handle it.. I have only felt fear once. I was at home with just my oldest son and i was awoke from a deep sleep by this horrible laughter when i woke up there was a face in the corner of the room. I was soo scared. I managed to stay somewhat calm and grabbed my son who was sleeping near it and put him with me.. It had dissapeared by this time. Then out of nowhere one of his toys stared going off. I'm pretty sure that it was there to do something with my son... So i'm glad that i was so scared that i woke up..

Most other times i usually feel a calm a peacefulness when i see or feel something. Like there is no harm there..

Yet you cannot accept that it could actually be something benign?

If I see people scared over something, and I tell them that that is what spooked them.. then they insist that I accept it was a ghost.. No.. I think not.. even when things are explained most dismiss it.

This is an interesting topic.

A few years back, I would be lying in my bed and have this feeling of not being able to move, or being forced down and not being able to get up. Upon this happening several times, I finally brought it up to my therapist, he had an actually scientific explanation and I'm sorry but I don't have the correct terminology he used but this occurs when a person is woken up from a deep sleep. I believed his explanation.

I do believe that paranormal activity can and does occur but how much of it, I'm not sure.

I watch shows like Ghost Hunters and they're supposed to be professionals so why is it that when they hear something, they go what the frig? Or if something moves, they freak out, and what about the time, the one ran away...all these things I hold into account and realize that even professionals are spooked by things and lose composure.

Right on target.. the term is Sleep Paralisis.. I have had them myself, I thought that it was Para Normal as well. It is entertaining to see a professional, instead of calmly observing activity.. actually bolt from the activity.. It would be like a sewer worker vomiting uncontrolably ever time he went near a sewer.

As I understand it, the body releases a concoction of chemicals during sleep that serve to provide a level of paralysis to the voluntary muscular system. This keeps us from jumping out of bed and basically, acting out our dreams. Sleep walking or "somnambulation" can result from a malfunction of the body's systems to assure this mild state of partial paralysis.

If we wake suddenly or suffer a disorder in the governing systems, it's possible to become fully awake and still be affected by this partial paralysis. It's also possible to have the partial paralysis subside as we return to wakefulness, and begin acting out our dreams.

I found it interesting and it makes sense, I still suffer from that from time to time but I'm not exactly a deep sleeper, the slightest of noises disturbs my sleep.

I have had unexplained occurences that even trying to debunk, there was no explanation and therefore, I shook my head and let it go.

There's also the feeling of being watched but that could be due to high emf's in the house or wherever one may be.

I know our old house had that and we had a new house built and I don't get that feeling any more and I can even go in the basement and enjoy myself without being freaked out.

I think that people who want to experience para-normal activity are a little to quick to believe that they have. I am more likely to believe a story told by a disbeliever then by someone excited by the idea.

I am a 'believer', yet a skeptic at the same time. I know ghosts and the like exist, yet if I see or hear something I will automatically begin ruling out all natural means before resorting to the supernatural. Like Occam's razor - i'm a great believer in that.

So, my response if I see a ghost? "Hmm...what else could it be...?"

One lonely night i was in blue, my family was on her materbal visit in other province. that night i laid more than 20 albums on bed opened after midnight. I did pick see one coz in that babe was with very charming (pulling) eyes and those eyes were so lovely and so beautiful that in my lonliness I decided to use these eyes to pull any beautiful spirit from the sphere. the room was glowing with dim light of night bulb and moon light of open window. It was blank chit without medium without having group. I sarted concentration on those eyes and started pulling any spirit if avaialable in the sphere of 2 miles around me. it was center focal point concentration and within 20 minutes it tripped my room bulb's switch, i had to on it again, second try it tripped within 3-4 minutes, this time i did put on other night bulb with switch other side. oh, this bulb blew within 2 minutes and fused off permanently. after this i left the try and did put on first bulb and packed off all my albums and that night forgot all my blue thoughts of loneliness and after that i never tried excorcism.

Dargor, A very goods point, that is also the way to catch a ghost, noticing the "canned reaction". The people that are ghost can act more scared then the "audience". To study ghost is to study peoples reaction to things that happen, when they expect to see something unexpected.

It seems to be natural human nature to fear what we do not understand, and also to prevent you from understanding it. A skeptic will have a reason for everything, and a believer will have a reason against their reason. It is all about impression in my opinion, and closed mindedness or lack thereof.

That phrase is an actual insult, if I was to call a believer delussional people would scream bloody murder, yet believers can call non-believers closed minded.. think about that please. Would you be so arrogant if you knew a person once believed, yet found nothing came from excepting fantasy as reality? That some entertain ideas of ghost, and paranormal with imagination, rather then the devote belief?

So are believers delussional?

Stop calling non-believers Closed Minded, Unenlightened, it only exposes the self righteous nature of believers in general.

One could use the word gullible to describe believers as well as pathological.. call me closed minded.. I will direct you to the cluttered state of your open mind, the one that has no room left for critical thinking, and applied observation. What purpose does accepting ghost serve, I want one believer to reply to that question..

My friends scared me shitless once!
(nice friends i have! lol)

anyways , we made a circle to call out for spirits , and there was a hill on both sides of the road we started calling the spirits , then , shit starts happening !

there was a farm , with big vegetables and a little fence on the upper side , over there (this was midnight , by the way!) i start hearing bangs , i would see the vegetables moving , like something really small was running thru them ! by that time this had been happening for 5 minutes i was already scared as everyone else was (at least is what they made me believe) then sounds , then i would hear stuff being thrown im like , this is too much to be a ghost im going there! after i say that , i see what seemed to be a haunting(came to know later that it was a plastic bag! )
from left to right !
i got more scared , then the running thru the vegetables continues and i was pretty scared by now... in my mind , reality is being twisted by the fear emotion , so , im pretty much believing that all hell is breaking loose in that yard!
I start throwing rocks to the farm lol!
then i look further up (this is where i almost shit myself)
i see a man about 10 feet tall with a hoody (wich was my friend with a bucket in his head on top of the fence , but at night visibility is bad,im scared and scared ALOT seemed like a gigantic guy! (in that part even my friends that knew about the joke were doubting it was him ) so he comes running on top of the fence in my direction , and i start running away from there (lol not one of my most gracious moments!!!) thats when everyone starts laughing and i discover it was my friend!

this took almost an hour to happen , they did it so well , that i really believed on everything! so i can pretty much say , when your genuinelly scared reality changes , your brain adapts to it , and when in a regular situation your brain would say this doesnt makes sense , in that case i was seeing satan and beliving it! :P:P

This is my worst experince. :)

To be honest Dab I am not sure how to answer the question that you just posed. I do believe in ghosts myself and maybe it is to accept things that have no explanation. Just as those who believe in God..just because we can't see him then does he not exist? Same thing with air...we can't see it but it does exist!

Rb.. the relief was binding in your circle of friends no, is it assuring that they know how you will react in the future to such situations.. hehe very good account of events as they happened as well, sadly that is the first thing that hyper people lose, is the ability to be observant.. I like to watch not what scares people (I seldom position myself in a way to witness my effects for this reason) but the people as they are being spooked.

There was a woman down in Charelston SC who had gone out into a graveyard with some friends.Something happened that spooked then, and everyone ran.According to the story, her dress had gotten caught on something and I guess she thought the ghost had grapped her. They found her the next morning ..she had died from fright.

This is the case for knowing the person you venture into potentially spooky areas. Preexisting conditions should be taken into consideration at all times. There are haunted house companies that actually have waivers to attend their attractions, for this very reason. Heart conditions, blood pressure, Scitzophrania, all have a bearing on reaction intensity.

The art of spooking is best followed by the art of calming, how many have enjoyed the hearty laugh after a good spook? A binding thing to share being spooked together.

I still believe we are trying to hide it. We have come a long way in dealing with Para Normal Activity but it is still being swept under the rug.

Could it be that the exposer of things that once appeared to be paranormal, that is fading the fad, and dousing the hype.

I hope to see the tradition return to the parlor from where it came, I want to see all the occult members realize that it was all performance and showmanship based one creativity. To many people becoming sensationalist, living in a perpetual obsession with the after life mystery, losing the chances to absorb/observe the present. No different then religion with the Pie in the sky after you die.. only the assumtion that somehow you can tape into or witness the after life.. really. how is it that people that are so into the occult, and the after life, seem to have such a lose grip on reality, when you show someone the trick performance that created the appearance of some occult power.. and they still grasp their fear that it was a ghost they saw, or a mind reader that read their mind/ guessed what they wrote on a piece of paper, well maybe people are becoming jaded to all the vague appearances of paranormal claims as well, you cannot spit without hiting a person that claims to have had a visit, or sighting.

Watching Ghost Hunters, and Most Hunted and thier reactions are usualy jumpy or in full disbelief of what they find. I have no first hand expierence of catching anything documented as of yet. Been to 2 cemetarys, a indian barial ground and all turned up disappointing. I would assume I'd be jumpy too. I mean here you have something out in the middle of the darkness moving. Unless you know it's a person it's kinda jumpy expierence.
