Ok, so why is it that humans who can survive/be comfy without blood want to be vampires and have to deal with blood cravings and such?
I think maybe because of how it is portrayed in movies, shows and books.
They have a romanctized view of it.
Power.
Power and fear are interrelated. A person voluntarily gives their power to people who quell thier fears.
It is percieved that if one were a vampire they would have less fears, and thus become empowered over what their fear is.
I am not sure where that idea comes from because many do not have blood cravings at all. The majority do not and historical records over all don't postulate that they do. Many things are listed. Most of what you read in that area are from much later writers who kind of inserted that into the viewpoint or undereducated people who didn't understand the death process, superstitions.
Some would like to be like the fictional vampire and they come into the community and get to know people and dress in a style that is prevalent in the "scene". It's a more goth oriented view and has become a staple of the culture that now exits since the 90s as far as established but began in the mid seventies for some when there was no known structure and no internet. A sort of more organized culture started to form that was more known to the public rather than so hidden and underground.
People are interested in the concept of the fictional vampire and it is the fictional vampire that most aspire to become unfortunately. Some say they have these cravings and they may very well have them but they aren't drinking gallons of it, lol. It's an emetic but supposedly this doesn't affect 30 percent of the population. It usually doesn't happen over night and there have always been some interested in drinking blood or blood play who have never referered to themselves as being vampires...they are fetishers. It is so much of what people are watching and reading now, I think it seems romantic and powerful to young people.
I believe humans want to be vampires, because they are unhappy with their lives. They want an adventure, something to spiff up their lives. Perhaps they're bored. Who really knows? I guess they would rather live with the constant temptation of blood that be bored and normal.
That's just my opinion, though.
Perhaps some identify as vampires to project themselves as mysterious, which would be peculiar because mysterious is not self actualized.
I would think it would be because of the everlasting life perk! I mean who would want to be a mere mortal, when you can be immortal? I know I would give myself up very quickly into that if it were true! I never want to die, and I want to be here so I can never miss out on whats going on in the world!
'Cause wearing fangs 24/7 is awesome, different a coolio.
I think the thread poster might be reading too much into the human vs the vampire.
The roleplayers and lifers want a comfortable atmosphere where they can be "accepted" by society. I dont think I need to explain this scenerio...I think we all get the point.
Its not society that labels the individual, it is the individual that labels themselves for the "benefit" of themselves, and not the community in general...thus is the way of selfishness. *sighs* Cause and effect. They brought it on themselves.
I keep myself as vampire coz i want to keep my aim in track that I must start psychic exercises again.
Sounds to me ~Venom~ that you make the vampire an excuse for your lack of focus. You seem to want to focus on the "psi" definition of the term vampire because you wish to relate the vampire to psychic connections and energy transfer for future resource?
Most romantic vampire storylines are responsible for why in my opinion. There are those that try to make it seem like it's not such a good idea but that doesn't seem to sway the masses from wanting otherwise. Personally I would find it a real pain to keep feeding off of things because i lacked it and needed it to maintain myself whereas i can do that just fine being human. Now the only thing i would fancy being as a vampire is the immorality factor. To be able to live many many years at least to the point where i got tired of living. lol If there were say other beings out there that were not vampiric but still carried such a trait, i'd rather go for that instead.
Wow what a response thanks every one i was curius as to your opinions
While alot of very excellent points have been brought up. I, Myself, would see a very different view for each of the sexes, unfortunatly.
Most ( this does not mean all ) Women seem to have been fed the romantasized vempire image and are drawn to the sensuality and eroticness of what they have been shown. The sterieotypical: I am immortal and alone but long to love someone I am afraid of eating vampire. (Sorry ladies does not exist)
Most men ( again, not all ) seem to be drawn to the power. The I am incontrol of everything because I am an F*ing Vampire power that they are fed. But I think that most are afraid that the power draw is from mainly a feeling of fear. A fear they are not good enough as thier trueself. A fear that they are weaker without being a vampire. And even a fear of death. So the Vampire stigma gives them control over this fear in away. Not that thier are not women that ths rational applies to, I just seem to see it more in men.
But again there are also a host of other reason, many of which have already been touched on. This is just the humble opinion of an old bear. *Chuckles gently*
Some escapism from their own lives, due to depression or boredom. Also, the way it it is romanticized in many books & movies. Plus, the aspect/thought of everlasting life.
It's not a blood lust for me.... there are several parts involved in this answer
1. Why wouldn't you want to be in-destructable and beautiful forever?
2. Most movies portray a HOT male Vamp, falling for the simple human. They fall in love, he turns her and wham, instant love for all of eternity.
3. Blood. To me, blood taste good. I've never had it in large quantities but If I were a vampire, it would be like eating the best steak in the world.
4. Power. The power to seduce, the power of strength, the power to do what ever you wanted for ever. Hello captain obvious!
That's it, influence from movies and books, and people get disillusions from it.
And escapism, yep that's why movies, games and books of this genre get popular.
The life of a vampire is often portrayed as interesting while the regular human life is define boring...and to say that ''normality'' can be nice too!
Simply because it's their nature. We all walk a different path and just because you do not choose to follow that same path, it does not make that path wrong. From the comments I have read in this thread (most, but not all) believe anyone identifying with vampyres to be lacking confidence in who they are as a person. So then, I assume you are saying that anyone who believes in any religion lacks confidence in who they are. Being a vampyre is simply believing in the nature of their being and acting according to their choice, not someone elses idea of how one should live. To some, it is a religious path, unlike the Hollywood version. The perception of what is really a vampyre is the problem.
Maybe it's because of the fear of death. Vampires live forever and so that's what some people would give anything for. The quest to finding the holy grail has been around for ages. The chance to never die.
Another reason could be power. The chance to run fast, or pick up houses. To feel like noone can hurt you.
Beauty is a big one. Vampires are always shown as beautiful and sexy.
Very excellent point Doru. Different preceptions can equal different desires and interpitations of those desires.
well here is a news flash we arnt all beautiful and we arnt indestructable, tho from what i have seen strength can sometimes be elevated but thats unconfirmed. Personally its a pain to have to feed ironicly blood tastes good with vodka but thats neither here nor there
Well darkfire not all of us need blood to live. Some of that has to do with stories. It's not all fun I will agree to that but it's what keeps the circle of life going. We have to take the good with the bad.
i suppose ur right, i get enegy its easier but blood works better if that makes any sense
i would guess the beauty factor for women and seduction and power for males.
I guess the power sounds good, but time beats all the other factors in my watch, with time one can acquire everything and not worried about intervals of physical maturity, is not as limiting as a mortal lapse, so all the above can be acquired with respective time. Who isn't romanticized with living a couple more years than usual without aging fast.
Because, in betrayed in movies and such, vampires are these poweful, lustful creatures...
Humans are boring, dull, powerless and they want to be something more.
Something no one can resist and have the power to do what they want.
Many humans find themselves very differrent from others and live for the time of night.
And also lots of humans find blood to be lustful and a turn on and find it delightful to drink,
Therefore wanting to be vampires suits their very wants.
I think many humans feel unimportant and invisible in the world. We all want to be something important, special and unique.
If you look at vampires... we they are all those and more.
I also think too many people fear death, growing old and aging... they want to live forever and be beautiful... so there is that side to it as well.
hollywood films make vamps out to be something every wants to be thats why
obviously, everyone has their own ideas, and they are all true
I believe it is because the vampiryism may be their given destiny.
Others just want to do it, and will even pretend to be, because it gets them noticed- 15 minutes in fame
I have to go with Padme on this... And besides, If you COULD become a vampire, you get to live forever... There are a few problems with it though... You can't go in sunlight (direct), blood cravings, it would also suck if you loved garlic...
I believe that movies & TV shows make it look so great. To be able to stay young forever, to move at the speed of sound, all those things entice a human.
To be a true vampire would have its upsides and downsides, and everyones definition will be different. For me it would be two things, the first being immortality as I have a terrible fear of death, I don't want to relinquish this life and I am not sure what comes after. Immortality as a vampire would also freeze me in age and the vanity in me finds that very appealing. The second would be the power although that depends on your interpretation on what you think a vampire possesses.
humans wanna be vampires because they believe they will have more powers or stronger energy. They believe that if they are an outcast to people they currently know that they will become an incast(if you know what I mean) to a different crowd.
This is what I have noticed.
living forever here, is not that interesting. I don't think so anyways. I would rather just live life and go on into the next. I wanna be able to freely travel through different times/alternate universes/dreams and so on.
It is not about "living forever"...more accurately;
Death Anxiety.
Sounds the same, but it isn't.
yeah that's true I guess. After all, vampires can die. So they obviously don't live forever.
ah..that wasn't quite what I was intending...
Having a desire to live forever, and experiencing death anxiety are two different concepts. And they are not necessarily mutually inclusive.
Because humans are tiny, fearful, frightened little creatures, that see anything powerful, and instantly seek to become that thing, that they may no longer be tiny, fearful, you know.
Also, because they are stupid. They see TODAYS perversion of the vampire and regard it as truth. I mean...does anyone even REMEMBER Nosferatu? Or ANY of the early legends of vampires, creatures who were mindless, soulless creatures who rose to feed, then slept again? There was no seduction, no beauty, they were slathering creatures of the night, spectres of death with no pity, no love, no lust, and no remorse.
You Twilight fans have finally staked what was left behind by the Ann Rice dipshits.
Do some research beyond, you know, the last 15 years of Vampire claptrap, THEN decide if you want to be a Vampire.
I feel they want to because they want to live like the myths of a vampire
Wich are
1. you never get old
2.you never get sick or catch illnesses
3.you live forever
ect
(Bows in utmost reverence)
Deare M'Lord vvSoulshroudevv,
You are true that I do lack fcus due to I can not do the psychic exercises coz I can not balance my dark and light when I am on duty and pay my day time to my earning duties.
Once I cross my craze overcome the charm of other matters and my chakra which broken that I can not focus much in even meditation, I wish to gain the chakras (conscious always check it time to time and) first so that my will go for the psychic exercises again.
This is no excuse and I am not making the vampire an excuse. My psychic exercises and there is similerity in between it and psi vampires. just only difference is that vampire go for energy as it cazy of consuming it. I wish to utility of it in other field not yet decided. at present I am able to intake two type of energies due to my work in the field of conscious and meditation. I have stillness too. But I am cautious too.
Coz the play or living of energy player is most dangerous as same as when you jump first time in the water to learn swimming. I have no trainer behind me.
I picked the line of energies is interesting to read. From when i was iin my 20s i was doing one relaxing exercise which could be performed by hovering energies...
This energy hovering I tried to pick up on using physical matter to try it in my 20s few times... but soon i found its needed the more work in the field and not such baseless but to pickon scripts written on energies. this opportunity i found few years ago that i found the scripts written on energies. but my 20s exercises pushed me awakening to dark world too as the incidence started around me. No one believe but para-psychic disturbance started occuring with me and i could not tell it to my peepal for they would treat me mad.
From my 20s I am knowing the best method of meditation. No one believe that meditator saying that he is experiencing para-psychic experience. but it all is like that.
It is the power, the latest fad, control and the supernatural part of it all. That and the romantic views of it..
why do people do drugs?
kinda the same thing both give you a high
both can be addicting
both can be extremely dangerous
and in alot of cases both are looked down upon in society
well I feel it is just a lifestyle of many who are night people. I mean vamps are associated with the Dark andDarkness around. They protray power, control and live life how ever they wish.
many have been Romatizied by many Authors and Movies to the point everyone who is a nightowl so to speak want to live and act with such demeanor as a Vampire. I do not see where blood cravings even come into it yet, just how I see it. cause blood craving can be easily fixed..
I think it is themakehe persona that movies and Hollywood show us that makes us want another life other than the hard and boring life in which we live.
i think its because it is forbidden. something we cannot have. we are greedy creatures and want to do, be everything.
Everything that is supposed to be forbidden somehow becomes what most people want now n days. Anything that is supposed to be myth or story, most people want to happen.
I do believe vampires. I Believe that if there are the legendary vampires, that they are very rare. I believe that people, most people that claim to be a vampire are actually posers. I believe in the spirit is a vampire and that type of vampire is a lot more popular.
This is my opinion.
I belive they who is serious about to see themself as a real vampire dont really have waked up 1 day and all of an sudden decided to be an vampire. I belive it have been there since birth but it take different amount of time for every human to learn what his/hers belive and identity really is. Then we have they who is into the hollywood moviestyle of vampires. I dont mean any offence here but i belive that is more to be a fan to it in same ways some people love sertain rockbands etc etc. It can be many reasons to why people belive what they belive. The way their life is running, theirs friends etc etc. It is so may things that lead humans to their belive whatever it is.
Vampires can not be immortal in my opinion, no kin can be immortal with physical body. They can extend life but can not remain immortal. the past of us is more golden and was more advanced and even they were not immortal. I am telling about Atlantis and Rama Civilizations. No one could make cells live forever. If cell is replaced once of all over the body like wise brain cells will be changed and the impact is total change of the kin by brain and nerve tree and whole part of the body i changed then hw the person is immortal (utmost possibility) its conscious been changed. and I am started believing that after one age spirit gets fade up of that body and wants to change it. This is called fade up from life... now leave it....
the ends... cessation... desire to no longer desire.
freedom from self.
to protect the weak and powerless....thats what did it for me...
Because they haven,t got a Clue what its really like...
Morons!
Hollywood has to take the rap for that all the sexy stuff.
rarely do you see a Vamp who has lost all his friends and family shaking with B.L. alone in bed at night.
Welcome to my world. Lets face it, this life aint easy and anyone who thinks differently please contact me and tell me what I,m doing wrong ! T Fallingstar.x.
well i belive they want to because they think that living forever will make them happy. what they dont realize is that seeing their loved ones die and their friends dieing, yet they think that the looks and everything is always all good. but once they are one they realize it isnt as great, the hunger, fear, hunting, feeding, ect everrything isnt as well as they belive.
hmm i suppose i mean t with this post is actual vampisim, as real vamps do die the whole aspect of immortality is moot
I suppose it's mostly because of what they see on tv and think that is how it is in real life.. when they are wrong. although they would not learn until they are in too deep.
I think it is because of the romantisized view in movies and tv.
Human nature to always be fansinated be the things that seem or appear beyond our own selves.
