Okay, well during the duration of this year, the ability of precognitive dreams has come my way. Since I was little about once every year I'd have a dream about something- and it would happen- especially if it was a death of a relative- I'd know it before I was told by anyone else.
Well this year, not only did precognitive dreams increase, but the ability to know something before someone said it started a slow increase in about September. That kept up for a few months- and then slowly disapted. So I'm wondering- is there anyway to hone these skills? Or do I just have to let them come on their own? Anyone else experience this?
I usually let the dreams just come to me... I've never really tried too much to hone the skill... I figure my freams will warn me when I need to be warned.

There are lots of theories about how to control dreams out there, but I don't think that's what you're after. As for honing your abilities. . .I have some wuaestions. Is there anytihing that seems to trigger these types of dreams for you? For instance did anything happen last Sept. that may have made you more intune with things?
I have had dreams like that as well, not nessicarily concerning death, but things comning true, like me meeting new people and such
I've been dreaming about the Colts going to the Superbowl, since 1984. It Happened! I always knew I was psycho.
Maybe that was psychotic. or Psych-something...
TINY

Dreams come when they need to happen. There is no way to just make that happen to you all the time. You will see what you need to see when you need to see it,
As far as your ability to hear what others are going to say. That will become more frequent the more its used and understood, IF it is meant to be that way.
My advice is take things in stride and let them happen as they do and do not try to control them on your own. When you find a gift, work on it and try to strengthen it but if it comes and goes then there is a reason for that. Maybe it is that you are not ready to have it yet and its just meant for you to have a taste of it. Whatever is meant to be will be and remember, when it comes to ALOT of things, you do take alot after your mum. :P
In my youth, I had dreams that would quite often come true. Gradually, as I get older it seems that I too am loosing the ability. I am interested to see where this thread goes; guess I'm wanting the same answer as you are.
Well thank you EVERYONE for all your advice.
To the one person who asked if anything could've triggered it..
I don't think so really.
I was pretty content with life at that point, thats really the only thing I remeber about that time
If you would like to develop this gift, I recommend journaling and practicing meditatiion. Through mastering your though process you may be able to direct your dreaming. Just a thought, I personally have never tried to develop my dreaming tendancies.
Perhaps....during the times that the dreams disappear..are you more stressed? the reason I ask is that you stated that when they appeared in Sept, you were "content". Perhaps when you are less stressed, you are more open to the powers that be??
If you can train yourself to realize you are dreaming...while in a dreamm state( I can do it) you can train yourself you remember the dream upon waking up...get a mini cassette recorder....place it beside your bed.Upon waking, dictate the dream into it,then later write it in a journal.
DarkWolfman has an excellent point.
If you can't remember all of your dreams you may be missing some opportunities for the interpretation of them.
I also picked up on your statment that you felt 'content' when the pregognisant dreams were coming to you. Are you AS content now as you were then?
Many people note that as they get older this ability diminishes. I can't recall ever having this experience. I am a skeptic by nature and always have been. Most people become more skepical as they grow older. I urge you to try to avoid this and leave your mind open. I am sure I miss quite a bit due to my "I have to see it to believe it" mind set.
becki we both have this kind of remember? personally i think theres no way of just trying to think of what someones gonna say or try and dream of something...i think you're just gonna have to let them come to you
to help me rember my dreams I keep a journal with everything that I remeber about my dreams as for getting better at it I think it is something that just has to happen not something you can work on. just my opion tho.
I really think I'm gonna try doing a dream journal. I find that after I wake up if I really push I can remeber key elements of my dreams- but after 15minutes of waking up- the dream is usually gone unless something triggers it.
And you know, I never really thought about it until AFTER I typed it that my mood at that period in time affected how open I was. I really don't think lately that I've felt half as content as I did in the beginning of the year. I think that I allowed the daily stresses get to me too much
I try to relax before i go to bed & let the dreams come to me..It usually works the best that way (for me anyways)
I think dreams serve multiple purposes and to just focus on the preminition dreams could weaken you over all.
the subconscious needs a way to vent and digest everything you see, hear, smell, etc. i believe this is another purpose of dreams and that it can be just as healthy and helpful as preminition dreams...
Well its not just that-
But I want to be able to have the skill under control somewhat
I mean it kinda feels like I'm being ruled by IT
I've been having this kind of stuff happening alot to me lately. I think you should do some research and find out how to enhance this ability. I've been able to figure out things before they happen. I've also been finding out the meanings of my dreams so I can understand better what is going on in my life right now.
Well I can interpret dreams no problem- it's just a matter of getting myself to rember them all and harnass the skill
Everything moves in cycles. Your psychic awareness goes through a period of increase and then a period of decrease contantly. You can hone your skills, but it will still go through those cycles.
There are a lot of ways that one can hone their dreaming abilities.
1. Keep a dream journal. Record in it every day, regardless of whether you dream or not. Keep it by your bedside, of course.
2. A little bit of affirmation before falling asleep is helpful. Something to the extent of "tonight I will dream and remember" might work. Me? I usually count myself backwards into sleep and that usually triggers dreams.
Remembering them is a whole other story. But with the journal you will get into the habit of remembering.
Those were the days.
"It," "Them" or anything else you wish to call "powers" are really not meant to be controlled. You would think they should be but this is a mind trap. There many stories in India about this. Many students on their path find out that they have these powers come to them. The powers were always there of course but we were focusing on other things in life like material objects. Now the powers are here and we focus on them instead of the next step on the path.
Don't get me wrong, powers are great and fun. I remember many times I played the game of reading minds and other cool things that you will next experience. But years later I remember what I really wanted and realized that I got distracted on what is called "Yoga tricks." These are real but they are a distraction from a path that I am sure you are aware of.
Focus on that path to your center and you will have the control that you are looking for. Forget trying to control anything and everything - there is no need. As the Martial artist does not focus on the board to break it but beyond it; so too, will you gain the control by not trying to control. ~ Billy
if u force these dreams you could get the wrong message and get things wrong. wait for it to come back then see how things go.
I have very similar precognative dreams and must admit that I have no ability to control them either. They come when they will. I am sure that there is a way to hone these skills; however, I would say that the way to perfect this skill is unique to each individual.
I don't try to force the dreams -- though I have found that a spell and meditation helps keep them orderly.
you need to laern to control them...once you do..you will get peace with them....they will never go away....some consider it a gift....
The thing that bothers me the most about all of this is that its just so random
fallenlupa, I know what you mean. Same thing happens to me, and maybe that is why I have been trying not to sleep lol. But try and control them
you should train your body to write down your dream while your sleeping. you may get more details than just dreaming it.
i have the same thing happen at times. they always at some point come true that day or the next week...i think you should just take them as they come
Mine just come and go and usually come when something drastic is going to happen. A couple were about deaths as well.
this is the phanamon called de ja vue. it cannot be controlled, it is not proven to be true. but it does happen, noone denies this.
I just found out that some medications can increase this sort of thing ans well as make your dreams more vivvid..

That's it exactly. A Deja-vu thing. Happens to a lot of people.
I tend to write it off to the "inifinite monkey's" theory more than not. Your brain is interpreting things that are very familiar... you have similar experiences in familiar surrounding... you have deja-vu. Random coincidence more than anything, but that's just my take.
I have had premonition dreams also! I know that sounds funny, but they always seem to happen.(come true) Sometimes it is only a glimpse, but when it happens, I get this wierd feeling in the pit of my stomach. I don't think they can be controlled. People with the "gift" of seeing don't get to choose what they see. So I believe along those lines.
I have had those similar dreams. Course they are never about anything significant but rather stupid crap. But they do seem to come and go during the year. Try recording your dreams. See if there is a pattern of any sorts to the dreams you are having.
I have dreams like that as well. I just let them come. I figure it's away of letting me know in advance of whatever is to come.
I have found it is best to let what dreams may come. Trying to force it will only bring dissapointment
i know what you mean...in the summer it seems im very "tuned" in. and i the winter not so much. the way i teach myself to, not control of harnes sor nehting, but pay more attention to the dreams or the feelings i get about certain things. and ppl feelings and so on......maybe im just voerly empathetic and day dreamy hehe
dreams are insights into our subconscious and i dont think they can be controlled to produce more premenitions.
For me it seems to come in cycles.I have never tried to make them come,I dont think we can do that...at least I cant. But I do think we can hone our skills as far as the interpretation of them.
ive always had the ability to know when a family meber has died or someone close to me..... id take it as it comes to you then let it happen.........as i have always done..........
Ive had the same happen to me...althoughi am not sure if that is the case with many of my dreams since i usually cannot remember any of them. When i do, they usually will have something in common with what happens that day.
I say just let it come and go. Cause if it was ment for you to use those abilties all the time you would be able to right now...Maybe it comming and going is a way of it letting you know what you need to know
i have had this happen to me but have never tried to stop them or hone in on them they just come to me and i try to pay attention to them as closely as i can
I don't think that you can hone this, but you could try meditating before sleep. Not a deep meditation, sort of a meditation asking the power to see things that need to be viewed.
i have a more annoying form of this...its annoying because as soon as i have the premonition, i forget it and i dont remember it untill whatever i saw happens...you might wanna check psipog.org
i have had dreams like you. like you mine started off once ever couple of months, then later i got them more and more.
i cannot hone the ability like i want to, but i am getting a little better at knowing what they are about
I think what CursedToDarkness(tabby) said hit what I would say perfectly I couldn't have said it any better in fact...Just let it be what is meant to be seen shall be shown when it is meant to be shown..
The journal works as well but dreams are not to be controlled but yet understood...
try clearing your mind completely before you go to sleep and concentrate on remembering your dream...
I think that the more open you become to these things, the more you can control them...for now, just let them come...
I dreamed about my stepmothers death just a few days before it happened.
I have never thought to control my dreams...... not sure if I would like to have that skill. I just let them come to me and try to deal with them as best I can
Dreams are very uncontrollable, I don't know how but I'm sure theres a way to do what you want to do though.
I believe that the dreams will come when they think it is time ... Honestly when I have dreams that i guess you could say predict things it kinda scares me a little.
I've had such dreams for a while and I usually know if I'm going to have one now, just a feeling, or sometimes I'll just randomly spout that something might happen and it will later in the day. It's natural for me now, but still a bit odd sometimes.
well before my 10th results i used to dream that i will secure 1st position and indeed i got it.
Hello,
To a point... It is usually simple to predict what a person is going to say next due to the attitude, mood, types of words they are using, and the type of person they are.... Practice with someone if need be...
