First, let me say that you have brought forth several very interesting thread topics of late, and I thank you!

As I have stated before, I am a scientist by training and a skeptic by nature.

I am inclined to accept the technical explaination of electronic cross talk / interferance rather than some ghostly ability to bypass human hearing and go directly to tape. It's seems odd that this phenomenon does not seem to cary over into digital recording.

All that being said, I do not totally dismiss the possibility as we have no true knowledge or understanding of how any "spirits" or "ghosts" may manifest themselves.

I absolutely believe in the EVP technology. I've seen a few cases that used it and had good & clear results. It blew my mind and even made me want to try it.

lol I tried it once with no results lol. Maybe I will try again one day with a etter recorder.

EVPs are a very interesting phenonminum that I cannot explain. Sometimes the sounds are hard to distinguish and other times they seem so crystal clear....

It seemed to me that the person writing the article did not have an open mind. Anything can be rationalized but do the scientists that do these tests to debunk things have their methods reviewed?

I am interested in this phenomena but have not been involved with it. Only read about it and wrote something awhile back.

I have been involved with reverse speech recording with a man named Jon Kelly and I firmly believe in that and had mine recorded and could hear things that made sense in the end. Sort of the unconscious mind coming to the forefront. There are a lot of signals floating around in space. I for one wondered how this lady knew she was talking to Aliens if she couldn't understand what they were saying. Was she in someone measuring where the signal was coming from like they do with radio telescopes?

I believe it is good to maintain an objective point of view for as long as possible. I have never experienced EVPs before. I wonder if they aren't often the ones to blame for the "voices in my head". LoL Seriously, though, the article appears to be written by someone who has lost objectivity and is now writing to prove a point, as mentioned in a previous reply.

I have seen some shows on ghosthunters and have even seen some mentions of ghostly sounds and apparitions. Having never experienced for myself, though, I can neither speak for nor against this phenomenon.

I have always been intrested in that kind of thing. Me and my dad have done EVP's before and we have had results it is intrested how they can communicate to you in different ways.

While working with recording equipment in the airforce, we would run into this kind of sounds. Most often it was caused by the tape being used more than once. And as the article stated, electronic equipment can also pick up signals from outside sources. These can come from radio station, radar, cell phone towers,... our airspace is filled with signals being transmitted to places all over the earth and into space. To sum up, I would advise useing a quality recorder, if you use tape make sure it is a new one, and shield the room your useing it for with grounded copper mesh.

The EVP is an interesting topic indeed. As by reading the page this man is more then a bit skeptical and I can understand why. As far as if any of the occurances on the page being valid, well that is hard to say as well. I personally think that it is possible, but I wont venture out and say that I KNOW its a real thing. There are many things that could be what we think we here, but I have to admit some cases that I have heard from television seem quite real. Of course that is television. lol. I have never personally had one of these experiances, but I think it would be very interesting to do a deep study of this if I ever do. :)

I am very open minded when it comes to things of a spiritual nature. I believe any device is a potential communication portal, with a strong enough entity or spirit. I used to wake up in the middle of the night thinking I had left the television or radio on and when I got up to turn off the noise nothing would be on.

sorry to those of you who beleve this is true. im a very closed minded person. i know what i know, and i know this is now true. ill read and learn more, and if i change my mind, ill repost on this thread.

If normal ttpe conversations were always recorded i would find the crossover talk theory more plausible, but a large number of evp recordings are violent and somewhat disturbing in nature, leading one to believe more in the possibility of something not quite "normal" about them

I try to keep an open mind on many different paranormal topics. EVP has always interest me. This is one of those topics i have done a lot of research on and i absolutely believe there are a lot of cases that are real. I think it is very possible to do.

like all possible occult things I would assume that for ever 95 cases out of 100 there is some rational scientific cause...
leaving 5% that is unexplainable

i think alot of perople tend to disagree when some people say it exists, i guess that would be people who had no expirience what so ever with ghosts or spirits. i belive in it my self since i had too many strange expiriences which can not be explained

if you do a google search you can hear some recorded evps and make out some words and statement from them. Now im sure the skeptics will claim that the audio could have been manipulated or dubbed over with voices, but there are some people recording evps that rule out background noises that might have also caused the noise in the tape.

I have tried to catch EVPs I have only heard two that where very clearly EVPs.
I have just now upgraded to digital devices and am hopeing for more EVPs

My computer had trouble with the page, so I'll just discuss how I feel about EVP's in general.

When I was about fourteen my mother gave me a voice recorder because I was always telling the most fantastic stories, she thought I had a talent for it and she wanted me to be able to catch the stories.

Well I used that thing all the time, though not always for the use my mother gave it to me for. One night I fell asleep with it on. During the night after I fell asleep the tape revealed soft singing. A little later the door opens and my mother says my name... silence, the door shuts, the singing starts again.

It's pretty spooky, my mother burned it, saying it was evil or the devils doing. We even moved from where we lived at the time. I believe in them, though not in all of them. I've heard plenty that can be explained, and some that are odd as heck.

i loved that show Taps..i really think that they got real EVP's and that is something needed to help these non believers... i would love to have one for myself

having been a Ghost hunter for years, I have heard all manner of EVP. Yes, I belive they work. No, I dont believe they pick up aliens,lol. As for Federlines comments, well, everyone is entitled to thier own opinion.

I do believe in EVP's and have heard voices on them myself.

Are they to advise us? Warn? Contact simply? hurt? Scare? I think they are real. I think that spirits, being made up of energy can imprint certain disruptions on things sensitive to electromagnetism.

i do believe in them and have experienced them in some sort of way unless its just my imagination lol all depends on what i accept to believe at the time i guess

I belive in it. I have a recording that I did at a cemetary where a friend of mine was burried, I di record a voice, but it was not my friends. If I can find it, I will put it on my profile for all ot hear.

EVP's have proven to be ineffective at recording spirits or aliens. (now thats a new one to me) I had a friend a long time ago who felt he had recorded the other side. We were young, and we thought it was extra cool. I think this may work occasionally, but I think that recording movement of psychic activity may be more practical, and more effective. I really don't want to not believe, but the facts look pretty convincing as to it not being spirits.

Well im in favor of them being real, I believe the after life is a dimension a different frequency to our vibration this side, even the catholic church has been studying this phononmum.

I believe very much that they are real and have had several caught by my computer and heard many other caught by friends who do "ghost hunting" trips. I'm not sure what to think on the scientific perspective of it, but they seem real enough to me.

it is still one thing not clear about the EVP, what are their purpose? Are they there to warn us? Tell us about a curse a danger or a blessing? Real or not it sitll does not explain their purpous and goal

EVP's.. first off they are the just about the best source of evidence that is in the paranormal community and second YES they can be gather on DIGITAL recordings. Most of your paranormal groups use digital recording devices instead of you tape recorders. The problem with science is this they spend all there time trying to l prove things with scientific reasoning and the problem is that their minds have been adapted to this type of study and it has overcome their ability to believe in events that just dont really have a possible answer. Example... why did the building fall that way when the way it was designed it should have fallen this way or why does a tornado take out this house but missed that one. No body knows for sure and it goes back to things do happen and there are not always a scientific or logical reason for it. If scientist would spend just as much time looking at other ways as they do trying to debunk everything that is against or unproven by science they might find some interesting facts and other things that they thought were not possible.

As was stated in this thread before, it's odd that this doesn't happen in digital equipment.

Now let's analyze this a bit.

Sometimes coast to coast does shows on EVP's. With the exception of one that was the voice of a little girl crying (very creepy and clear) I've had trouble discerning exactly what it was I supposed to be hearing. Like Sacred pointed out, it's hard to tell until they tell you what you're supposed to hear and even then I usually just hear a lot of garbled noise.

The one exception does make me wonder though. There's always an exception that has to leave you open to the possibility. Thinking about that little girl's voice still sort of gives me the willies.

I think a lot of the stuff with evp is power of suggestion there is to much information in the airwaves these days to say for sure if you are getting something other worldly or picking up the cooking network

I have heard quite a few EVP, that a friend of mine let me listen too. and even though i found it hard to explain, the feeling i had and what i heard was very real.

I have had experince with EVPs a few times. It's kinda creepy.

I'm not sure if what I saw was real or not because I didn't hear anything but one time I pointed my video camera at the tv while it was on a snowy channel just to see what would happen, I had just seen White Noise, and I swear I saw a pair of eyes staring back at me. My roomies saw them too but when we rewinded the tape it wasn't there anymore.

I do have to say very interesting topic... I havent had any thing like that... but I would say anythings possible.

Hey Sacred, I csn't dsy I sm s believer on the opic. To me, it's another way to keep the the dead alive to their loved ones.

EVPs are a very interesting phenonms, I think that the reason that you can hear it played back is becasue the evp recorders pick up things that the human ear can not hear. and when played back it converts it to an audibal level

I think that this is a very interesting topic and after watching White Noise it has made me wonder and hopefully, i will experience it one day....

I have seen EVPs done on different History Channel and Travel channel documentries... It is interesting that a noise is captured that was not audible to the human ear at the time or recording.
