If anything do you believe that the planets being in alignment with the Earth has any effect on thought patterns good or bad alike, please explain?
I have a friend who is into astrology...Right now we are retrograve with Mercury which means communication errs..miscommunication. That is all I can tell you for she always tells me when Mercury comes around.
hrm.. I'm sure the alignments have an effect.
Solar and lunar aspects are much easier to see and appreciate from what I've read. I'm not big into astrology.. but those that determine such things .. in detail not generalities.. I have found to be pretty accurate.
I beleive all that has been explained by an arcane art of the eons, today called modern, Astrology.
i think eash planet have a function that effect the other planets. For example we here on earth have alot to thank jupiter for. Jupiter draw astroids to itself and because of that the earth dont be hitted (well we shall never say never) but jupiter take the most of the astroids.
I agree with what alixaryon has said.
What is now demmed as astrology has been used for many millenia by mankind to aid in determining a varying collection of things from peoples moods to when the best time and date to cast a spell or perform a ritual is, to the best site for a manmade structure.
The pharoahs used astrology when building the pyramids and temples.
I think alot of people judge astrology by the daily papers which only offer a paragraph for each sign.
If you look deeper it makes alot more sense.
I do believe like the moon certain alignments of the planets cause or energize people. good or evil is based on the personality of the person.
I believe that the planets have a huge effect on everything that goes on.They have used them for centeries to follow the changes and times of history.
in astrology the common way of determining your mood or thoughts via the planets is by comparing where the planets where when you where born to where they are now. the degree by which planets are away from each other (aspects) show thoughts and mood.
Im my opinion the planets and stars do not determine what will happen although they do tell what may happen.
From a scientific perspective other than the Sun, Moon and Jupiter there are no bodies which could have any type of real effect on a person.
The nearest star (Proxima Centauri) has less gravatational effect than your tv.
The only plausable explination for the theoretical link between actions and stars would be if human thought is based in bosons or Torsion Field Effects, both of which are rather highly contested.
Hope that helps :)
The phases of the moon I believe do affect our personalities. As much as it does to the Earth. In terms of astrological phases. I don't think they carry any weight to us physically.
when I was younger my physics teacher told me that if all the planets were to align, all fo them we would no longer have any physics law, but he told me also that pluto is the planet that will always prevent that.
Real quick, planets or stars for that matter would have 0 effect on the Laws of Physics. They might increase the actions of the laws but other than that nothing. I think your teacher was just messing with you.
I was 16 so this was 21 years ago, and the teahcer only said the laws of physics would be all void, not cancel, that what we had learned would no longer be applied, so therefore void cause different.
I think that it is a matter of opinion and belief. Belief is everything in this sort of thing.
Personally I don't think the planets being aligned with Earth or not has any effect on people's thought patterns. It is documented that the moon for example can affect behaviour, for example at the full moon time. However the planets are far too far away to have that sort of effect on people here.
I feel very strongly that gravitational force on surrounding bodies, gas expulsion into space, and spatial relation does indeed make an impact on thought, hormonal regulation, and societal interactions - even if only minutely.
All life is and should be directly affected by the cosmos. A small effect within the human body dictated by any movements in the heavens may manifest as a drastic change in mentality or physical appearance.
I agree with Wolfsbohne, as well as saying about the phases of the moon, which would be considered a luna or lunertic, same method of astrology teaches, about the moon signs as well as sun signs determining the mood swings of average society and of course...Not so average, lol.
I'd say the alignment of planets have had an effect on me. The planets affect pretty much everything I think.
I also feel that it is a matter of what one really believes in as to how it affects them.
i believe the electricle pull of the planets can mess or realine the electrical thought patern in the brain causing us to act different
yes i believe they do have an effect on all things. Just like the moon has an effect on the tides. all the planets have an effect on the planet and on us as well.
Absolutely zilch - zero - nada - nichts...
... in of themselves...
HOWEVER - the mind is a funny thing - if you BELIEVE something has an impact, it will subconsciously drive your decision making process... So it's really not "the planets" driving your thought patterns so much as your BELIEF that they do influencing them...
And what makes you so sure that there is no impact on your thought pattern, you may never even notice the small changes that occur by the day Stormwind, years of hard scientific study has shown there are affects on your thought pattern from the day you are born. I will provide links within the next 2 days on the subject if anyone is intrested in reading this more in depth.Thank you all for posting.
Alot of people are sceptical about this having any effect on us, yet I feel that history and many scientific research has proven that it does have a very significant effect on everything in this universe .
I don't think that the aligning of the planets has had any effect on me and if it did wasn't enough for me to notice
Considering that trying to truly understand gravity is the last great frontier for physics research, I would say that aligning of any celestrial body in the solar system has some impact.
Einstien postulated that gravity and time are intertwined in his special theory of relativity, which could mean that as there is a great concentration, or less of a concentration of gravity on the Earth, we would experience differing "time."
This is purely a "thought experiment", but I would like to think that it has a plausable application.
The only thing astrological phenoma that has any effect is the waxing and waning of the moon in my experience. I guess that planetary alignment could have effects, but it is something that I would have to witness
A follow up on the effects of the moon.
Not only do we have the waxing/waning of the moon, but we also have the tidal effects of the moon as it orbits the earth (tugging and pushing us twice a day) and we have the elliptical oribit of the moon acting on us as well.
Just recently, the moon was at its closest approach to the earth. This site gives a good visual on the difference in apparent size that the orbit provides:

You can’t get your horoscope from a newspaper; it takes a precise down to the hr/min of your birth to get a real astrological horoscope. I believe planetary alignments do affect people. Just like the moon to the ocean.
www.innerself.com/Astrology/full_moon.thm.
Pretty interesting read about several studies done in regards to the Moon's impact on human behavior. The medical reasons behind it have never really been fully explored, though.
I think that some alignments can cause add behavior. Just like the tides are effected by the moon, so are we effected when there are alignments.
yes.. our body has eletricity and the planets effect our body in this manner sometimes people feel more energized during certian allingments it can effect thoughts and dreams.. some people astral travel with greater ease during certian alingments or patterns
I don't know about the actually planitary algnment changing people, but I know that when the alignment shifts, the weather changes and alot of peoples moods are often affected by the weather. I'm not sure if I'm thinking in the right direction...but yea...
I belive that the planetary/moon allinments strongly affect people moods and the way they behave
I think that the alignment of the planets and moon have all kinds of effects on everything
Yes I agree totally because when mercury is retrograde everything in my life is off balance
I think that the planets do have an impact on us just as the phases of the moon impact us.
i think that in the grand scheme of things, it has a lot to do with thought patterns. i think that humans enjoy symitry. when things are lined up we feel at ease, like thats the way things "should" be.
uhm the only thing i could think about would be if the moon or the sun becomes to close when we are in revolution because the gravity effects the tides and we are like 80% water...yeah thats far-fetched but some one told me that and its plossible ..sorta
I believe it has the same affects a full moon does on people. Some it affects some it might not.
The use of the stars and Planets has been used for venturies and therefore mush have some form of effect over us all.
well iknow that the moon has effect on us but thatcause ofits proximity to the earth. i think the other planets are too far away to have a large effect on us
i think that each planet can draw a individual to it and or it could change how a person acts as well.
lonelychevalmike - Humans as part of nature do like symmetry, but that's primarily because nature strives for symmetry.
Specterdrake - the first seven planets of the Astrological Zodiac do have a gravitational pull on the water of Earth. As little as that influence may be, it's still there. A slight imbalance in hormones drastically changes a human's thought patterns and decision making skills.
Our nearest planet the moon has always had the most direct and measurable effect on human personalities. During the period of a full moon anyone who works in the emergency services will tell you that there is a marked increase in the number and severity of incidents that they attend. This gave rise to the word “lunatic” from Latin word "lunaticus" meaning Moon. It would follow that if the Moon has such a strong effect then the other planets must have similar though due to distance, maybe less noticeable effects, the one exception being when they in alignment.
i believe alignment has a lot to do with how ones emotions are. that is how we have our star signs. sagitarius, aries, etc... all based on the alignment of the plantets.
Planets are the primal manifestation of vibration, each planet having its individual tone.
Every note represents one planet. Every individual therefore has a note peculiar to himself or herself, which is according to his birth planet. It is for this reason a certain tone appeals to a particular person ,or doesnt.I guess with that said,I would have to say that yes, planets and their positions affect how people think to an extent.
You can look at the work of Michel Gauquelin and take it from there.
Oceanne -
The Big Bang theory suggests that the Universe started as the size of an atom and then swelled to a rediculously large size in the matter of less than a second. This size is equal to a grape fruit. This was before elements, as the heat generated by the Universe was far too high to culture them.
Now, my question is that (obviously) if the creation of planets came from this cataclysmic event - what generated the initial swell? The more you post about sound and notes, the more I am inclined to believe that it was as a result of intense vibrations - the end result of spatial occupation.
"In addition to the understanding of the velocity of galaxies emanating from a single point, there is further evidence for the Big Bang. In 1964, two astronomers, Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson, in an attempt to detect microwaves from outer space, inadvertently discovered a noise of extraterrestrial origin. The noise did not seem to emanate from one location but instead, it came from all directions at once. It became obvious that what they heard was radiation from the farthest reaches of the universe which had been left over from the Big Bang. This discovery of the radioactive aftermath of the initial explosion lent much credence to the Big Bang theory."

Right,thats what they're saying..and here you go....

oh woah.Sorry people, that address is um,rather long? I did not know it would mess the page up like that.I might need to go find a forum master.
Personally I can't say YES or NO, because so many things shave happen to me and have fallen under my sign as a Virgo and such that it's too ironic , then again when it's wrong and such, I doubt, but it is indeed interesting. Sometimes people are easily swayed and know how they are suppose to act as their sign says or what to be doing when planets are allined a certain way....
i do not think planetary alignments has anything to do with your thoughts.
if it did, we would be thinking differently every second and could not keep the thoughts we had.
The following link was provided to me by Oceanne. The gentleman Larry Berg spent over 25 years researching the relationship of astronomical tides, solar flares and their relationship with the Earth's weather and inhabitants. This is science not speculation.
Enjoy!

i dont any thing about this but i will after i check out this link that Wolfsbohne had given us..
i believe it must have an effect on people to an extent.
Wolfsbohneit here ya go..
the berg timer
i checked it out and i have no clue to understanding it but to the ones who do ..ok..
To refresh my thoughts, about the effects from the planets...
This would constitute not only our brain waves themselves, but the magnetic pull of our emotions through auric displacement. Not sure if this will make much sense to half of you, but bare with me.
Just as the magnet bracelet you can buy online that has North South polarity, this puts the mind at ease and gives you more energy throughout the day when the sun is out.
Same concept, the two major planets closest to us, being the Sun and the Moon, are polarized and in tune with us, which is why in astrology we have a sun and a moon sign.
Our bodies automatically adjust to the polarity of the planets, a vibrational magnetic pull if you will. Since our bodies are made of static energy, this is the result.
Correct me if I am wrong at this point, but I think most of this is accurate.
I dont think the planets have a thing to do with human nature, people just have urges to do things, whatever they may be, just because there human.
Yes I do. The alignment of the planets, and stars chartered the twelve signs of zodiac as a measurement of time, and seasons on planet Earth.
my mother and i were just discussing something like this the other day. we believe that everything is based on astrology, even the bible. like, the three wise men are actually based on orion's belt. and it you look at the egyptian pyramids, they align perfectly with orion's belt. just, yeah, we're astrology freaks.
Wow, This is a great site, thanks to wolfsbahn and occeane for providing the info!
I don't know the scientific side, but I am a Fifrefighter/EMT and it is a documented fact that the call volume escalates during a full moon. It sounds silly, but we get more drunks, more psych, more medicals when there is a full moon, we honestly have extra personnel "close to home" when it is in phase. Ask anyone in the emergency services field...
It could possibly affect gravatational pulls on different parts of the earth.
Nostradamus predicted that when the planets aligned tightly together in May 2000 and entered the degree he foresaw that the force would be explosive enough to change weather patterns, and trigger violent earthquakes etc., during the alignment on May 4 – 5th.
His forecast; “The sun in twenty degrees of Taurus there will be a great earthquake. The great theatre, full, will be ruined. Darkness and trouble in the air, sky and land. When they call upon God and the saints”
Now, maybe all of the quakes, and predictions did not come true on the date he said it would…but it would make sense that he foresaw the beginning of all what we are experiencing now regarding shifting seasons, weather changes, earthquakes, monsoons, floods, global warming etc., from that date when the Sun was in Taurus 2000.
I think in the olden days, planetary alignment was extremely important, and so, therefore, and accordingly predictions like the one Nostradamus made, the fact that people lived their lives by the rotation of stars and planets, and had no other means of science, all had a massive effect on peoples thought patterns.
The alignments of the planets affect the gravitational forces felt on earth. Planets move in the orbits due to affects of other planets. Just look how the moon affects things on earth like tides. These gravitational forces affect us as well and would effect our thinking.
As Soulshroude said before you... but remember Earth is only one gravitional system you have to think on the larger scale.
As a bartender, I can attest to the fact that certain planetary arrangements can have a certain effect on my customers, such as full moons, and the like. When I worked at the Hilton, and could take the time to pay attention to such things, I always tried to be aware of the behavior of my customers as they came into the bar on nights with a full moon, so that I could make sure they didn't over do it.
XTCraver - while I like the idea that the Wise Men were supposed to be the three stars of Orion's belt, there is unfortunately little evidence to support that, for several reasons. The first is that there is no number listed in the Bible of how many "Wise Men" actually attended the birth of Jesus. The number three is typically thought to be the correct only because of the number of gifts they brought (Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh).
The other problem with the idea that these Wise Men were stars was for the fact that, first, they applied in person to the King to discover where Jesus might be. Second, they presented physical gifts; and third, the translation of their real name "Magi" was taken to mean Wise Men, or even King. The Magi were a tribe of priests from Persia who studied Astronomy and Astrology. By saying that they saw Jesus' star in the East was meant that they were from the East and had perceived an Astronomical phemonenon in their skies.
As for the Pyramids of Giza, the smallest of the three is built on an arch 18 degrees off center of the other two. 18 degrees is a point in the sky which denotes the Astronomical twilight, a time when the sun is either newly risen or just setting. The sun is still in the sky, but casts no light on the land. If that is simply coincidence, then consider that in Chichen Itza, a Mayan ruin, El Castillo -the pyramid built there, is built 18 degrees off of a perfect North/South axis.
This is all to say that for millenia humans have been looking to the Cosmos to discern who we are and what our place is among them. So yes, planetary allignment does indeed effect human thought if for no other reason than because we think it does. However, because of the advancements in astrophysics, there is scientific evidence that would suggest there is a more physical effect regardless of whether or not we think of it.
If the alignment for some reason or another has an effect on the pull of gravity, i would believe that it has an effect like the full moon, only magnified. Thats a creepy thought....
Going off of what others have stated. One of the possible reasons for the effect of the planets is that the spheres that rotate around their orbits.
Sort of in a Copernican model, rotate around the lives of the people on earth. It was the planets that are condensed matter that have formed from the Pinholes that pass through this world into the other world.
According to the Ancients the planets are gateways. The physical maniefestation points between this plane, and the planes they are corresponded to. Thusly having the names of their Dieties as the ones whom have control over such spheres, They ontop of influencing behavior patterns and vibrational shifts also act as "condensers" to that current.
Like witches drawning down the moon, you can also draw down from the planets. It takes a bit of effort, but when you start working directly with the currents you will see the interaction between those energies and life.
As well as the stars that the Ancients hads names for. They are the gateways through which spirits can be brought through.
The Mayan Calander is putting us squarely in the Path of Capricorn for 24 hrs. According to the Lore of Capricorn, and the corresponding Mayan history. It is the day when all the gates open and a direct path opens between this world and the other world. Unhindered.
So if we are to take it that cosmologically speaking, the events we are to face, are planned out by timing, and complex mathematics, we will be able to understand with some accuracy the effects of such things, and can predict with general awareness the sorts of influx of consciousness that will occur, from the influences of these celestial and planetary bodies.
LOL, Red Queen...we have a few places like that in Ireland also! It all goes whoopie when alignment happens on St Patricks day 'tho!
I don't think it effect on the patterns of thought. Unless, you know, the planets decide they're sick of alligning and drop on someones head.
Mora,
They actually do effect thought patterns. Humans are animals, and live on this planet just like everything else.
So if the tide swells in the ocean, those vibrations are also flowing any body of water. And since human body is made mostly of water, and fluid. We are also pulled into those waves.
One of the arts of magick, is understanding these flows and rhythms and working in, and maniuplating them.
I think the planet alignment has a big effect of peoples behavior sometimes there are just some strange happenings going on or strange feelings around that just cant be explained
