I dont watch the show...

but I see no reason why they shouldn't continue to learn. I would say that there would be other subjects to include on the curriculum, just aimed at their special needs.

It keeps them off the street...lol

Anatomy (need to learn why you take from the artery and not the vein, and which one)

Etiquette (so you know how to act in all social situations, vampires are generally social creatures after all)

Astronomy (or, how to tell how close it is to dawn without using one of those watch thingummies)

Dressmaking (you have to be able to make your own ultra cool vampire clothes)

Drama/Acting (kind of the same as Etiquette above)

History (or what the past teaches us about how not to act if you want to survive)

as for the subfects for study...

woodwork and bloodwork - that would be a 'core' module.

The show it seems was on for one season only. :(
I went looking for it and found the first 16 eps on youtube.com
From what I saw if it, the vamps had the school at night while the humans had it during the day. Wonder why. lol. But the studies/ topics were sometimes the same for both groups.

I have to say that I like the ones that Drakontion has put in here. maybe some science or biology learning about blood types and such.

History- would be a must, to learn the ancient ways.

Home ec- to learn the proper ways to feed

Gym- to learn how to defy gravity and kick ass

Foreign language- learn the ancient language

Physics- to know what would kill you

I think there would be courses that regular humans study so they can blend into society. But they would also have special training for the vamp lifestyle

I would think that many of the studies would be the same. Probably much more in depth, perhaps with Business and Economics being a much larger part of the curriculum.

I would say English, Science, and proper Etiquette would be the main classes.

Then focus on Sociology.

I do feel to that their school would be the same as human school as well same subjects with the added flair...

Well, I can assure you this much, if there were such a school it would be MUCH MORE interesting than normal school. ;)

I didn't watch the show, but it does sound interesting.

Would they continue to learn? Absolutely! I think human anatomy would be pretty high on the list. Economics and bevavioral science would make the list as well. That list is not complete nor conclusive. However I feel that the areas or subjects of learning would all be applied to the nature of survival for vampires.

well considering they will be living *forever* they need to learn many languages and economics, science, Biology etc. pretty much the same as their Daytime counterparts just a more indepth study and instead of a regular Gym class but a defense and survival class..... wait we all shopuld learn that huh? LOL :)

I think the subjects would be things essential to their lifestyle. Such as, what to feed on or not to feed on, the consequences of feeding on what they aren't supposed to...The dead, etc.
I think there would also be classes to help with the psychic abilities vampires have in works of fiction, such as mind reading.
I'm sure there would also be classes to help them attain supernatural strength.

I have wondered about the "hypnotic glaze" of a vampire .Perhaps because a vampire is dead and has no heart beat or circulation they are themselves still and there for become an antenna of sorts people revere the dead (watch when people view a body at a funeral.

LOL....there's one that's an obvious home ec lesson or 5...

How to get stains (namely, blood) out of clothes (cause you can't necessarily afford to be making new ultra-cool vampire clothes all the time)

Home ec would also include a chapter on dinner etiquette such as how to minimize the mess when you feed.

...and in shop class they'll be building little coffin-shaped bird houses...

...or would bat houses be more appropriate?

I would think it would be like a english as a second language type of course or even a typical language course where the culture of the country is also taught.

Psychology: To understand how the human mind works, to better manipulate your "prey".

Sociology: To better co-exist and mingle within the crowd without being stereotypically standing out.

Ediquette: Learning the ways of human ediquette, another fine example of co-existing and not alarming them with your presence.

Basic handbook should be entitled: How to live amongst the mundane - A vampires ediquette for the real world.

That is unless you are discussing a slightly differant atmosphere, as if the mundane population does not exist...Vampires learning abilities are a bit higher than those of the normal individual, so I should think the classes would border on higher learning from college courses rather than high school equivalances.

Of course, plus all your usual subjects such as english, maths, science etc......these are gonna be busy little vamps, Lol

Never seen the show, not a bad concept though. I have a hard time though believing that vampires would take the time to be schooled, they seem more animal than human and most are not of the school age. However, if they did attend classes I imagine they would be anything to improve their lifestyle such as skills to blend in better and perhaps fighting ones as well.

I think it'd be like having to attend high school again.. I mean, in order to survive they'd have to keep going to school over and over when all the new stuff comes out.. I mean, the language keeps changing, the customs keep changing.. And every generation ends up having to learn a little extra.... I think it would pretty much be the same except with a little "how not to feed on and offend the humans" lesson thrown in here and there. lol

They would need the same classes as any other student to live and prosper in society. I think they'd also need specialized classes in anatomy, biology and taking courses on how to hide their special abilities and needs from those unaware of them. Cool show too.

I have the series pilot episode movie on dvd. I would say they would have all the normal classes plus some specialized classes.

advanced vampire 302 (coping with immortality)

I like what Wolvie said. There would definitely be advanced classes on this particular type of specialty training

here's a few more good one's:

advanced vampire 305 (how to keep your estate through each identity change)

Perhaps a nice home-ec class...something like:
"how to cook italian without the garlic" or
"how to get out those stubborn blood stains"

Personally I wouldn't want a vampire to know anatomy.

Think about it, something that feeds off blood knowing every place possible to take it from. Screw that, I'd rather have them learn how to act like a human than know how to kill one faster.

I would say thegeneral curriculum of other students plus some specialized Vamp studies. (how to stalk your prey with out getting arrested for stalking...)

I haven't watched that show but it sounds interesting enough so I'll try hunting it down online.
Anyway, I think it would be interesting to have them study literature or the literary pieces, lore, myths about them so they'd know the misconceptions humans have and how they could work out to correcting those misconceptions; that's if they really are interested in living 'in peace' with mortals. I'd a whole lot rather have vampires as anti-social and not try to fit in mainstream society and culture, though.

I have never seen the show. But I don't think it would be the same has human school. Unlike humans of this day vampires still need to learn how to hunt their food. And do it without being seen or caught. I think that be one class that would be diffrent than human classes.
