it's no longer an honour system... does that make you hestiate when rating a premieum member, have premiem members noticed a drop off, or the opposite... I think it's perhaps forced people to be more honest and that can only be a good thing

I find it amusing.. the amount of people who to my face say one thing and then rate me very differently. I have spoken to many and am not the only one experiencing this.. Just shows true colors... I have also been surprised as to how frequently some ppl change their ratings.. I guess I just dont think to go back and revisit profiles...

As for the honor system comment, first of all, I think that was from left field... secondly.. honor systems dont work.. it is against nature.. if a person feels they can get away with somethign, they will try.. If you dont believe me, paypal me $10,000.00....i'll pay ya back...

Well i am a premium member and it's funny just like Scarlette said, some people ratings didn't match with their comments...and it is very amusing. I rate other premium members what i honestly think they should get wether it be a 4 or a 10, and i'm glad that they can see it too.

Honestly, when I see someone rated me low, It reminds me that there are a GREAT MANY profiles out there better than mine. It also reminds me I need to get off my hinder holster and work on my profile.

I get a giggle when I see someone has rated me 10. My profile is so not worthy of a 10. lol

If I see a really low rating, I might, might mind you, message that person and ask what they feel needed improvement.

only if there's a premium member whose profile i strongly dislike. when that happens, i feel a little silly admitting it, but i'm more likely to pass on rating than to rate low.

not because i fear any retribution, just because i dont want to hurt their feelings...i feel kind of like i'm walking around and i see someone wearing a really hideously poor-fitting shirt or something...i wouldnt comment because well..."if you dont have anything nice to say, dont say anything at all" ...not always a good rule to follow, but in instances purely of style/taste, i tend to go with it!

No, why should you be? I mean if people don't want a bad rating then they should make a good profile. But I mean if someone has a bad profile, then it's there own fault. N hopefully people given them a bad rating will help them update and add more to there profile! But don't be afraid, what's the most they could do to you, do the same back? I'm sure we will live. Being afraid to rate ANYONE is absolutly rediculous.

If premium members had not the ability to see who rated them what then you would have no problem rating them.

The very question, and the fact that people admit to not wanting to rate a prem. member... points out that, through socializing with some of them, you don't like THEM and would therefore rate their profile low because of it.

That's petty.

Porfiles are not there to rate the PERSON.
They're there to be rated on content. How much of themselves people put into it... and yes, even what kind of technical savvy the member/person has.

I knew absolutly NOTHING about computers when I came to this site. I was looking for a movie when I came upon this little creation.

I have since plucked the minds of several members and learned enough to spiff my profile somewhat to where its relatively pleasing to the eye, easy to read, and hopefully - humorous.

I have been rated 1's by several people.
The last one was Monetary (formerly Epic_Defiance). She has her own reason for rating my profile a one. Namely I stopped talking to her.
I have no problem with that as I know it was NOT my profile that did it.

I'd also like to point out that I in fact DID NOT return "the favor" and I've left her profile and portfolio at 10's.


Being afraid to rate a premium member should point out to you WHY exactly you're afraid to do so.

I don't see why one would fear rating a premium member its simple if your profile suck well it does and i am not going to make you think its good and keep you from improving it so i will give you a rating you derserve. of course most premium members take time to pimp out thier profile persay because well they pay for it and have cool templates :) but yeah it shouldn't matter. give the person what you feel i am sure most people enjoy the criticism and are tired of getting tens just cuz people are afraid. and I need an 11 button. some profiles deserve more than ten

Good point Khay. I think it's safe to say that even if someone is able to know what you rated them, they take it as constructive critisism. True, there's always someone out there that may not like it, but for the most part, you know what I'm sayin', right?

Being "afraid" or "hesitant" to rate any profile is ludicrous. If you believe that you are rating an individual justly, then click the rating with pride. If you decide to rate the profile low, however, I'm sure the person would at least like an explanation as to why you rated him/her so low. Bombing for the sake of bombing is never appreciated.

I rate every one as if they didn't have a membership at all. I never think twice about it. So, I am always honest about my rate. If I feel some one needs to fix their profile and they are a premium member, I'll give them the rating I feel they deserve.

I figured they (being premium members) worked on thier profile the same way I did, they should get rated the same way I do (I being one of the un-premium kiddies).

If you can see the individual rate or not you're still going to know that your profile sucks when you see a low overall rating.

This all ofcourse has nothing to do with the individual, if my profile is really nice it can either mean Im talented or I have no life and live here.. oh wait thats me. *scratches that last line out* *smiles*

Nope, i'm not afraid to rate a premium member. Many of them are nice people, i rate everyone as they deserve...

man..i still dont think it's that strange to not want to rate a premium member badly.

analogy time: in high school my friends all had crazy bedroom decorations...garbage bags on the walls, aluminum foil, tiny magazine pictures covering all surfaces...wild stuff...some looked cool..some totally bugged me.

the ones that i liked, i praised, the ones that i didnt like...i just kept my mouth shut. it's not like they were doing it to MY room...i liked the people, i just didnt like this particular creation of theirs...it didnt seem like it would be productive to say "hey, you know how you've created this thing that you love?...well i strongly dislike it"

On the other hand..my secretly feeling this way wasn't really "2 faced"...i wasnt saying "oh, i like you because your room's so cool" while secretly hating it...i liked the people, disliked the room.

same way, i may not have a personal problem with a VR member...i just might not like their profile so much. it doesn't seem necessary to go up to them and say "i dislike your profile"

now on the other hand..if my friends had set up an anonymous online poll, with pictures of the bedroom..asking what people thought...i may have used the opportunity to express my feelings.
the anonymous rating system is friendlier because they're not going to see any one rating..just a composite of multiple anonymous ratings. if i dislike it, but everyone else loves it, my minority opinion is going to be obliterated...if everyone dislikes it...and this is something that this person cares about...they can get the message without being personally offended by any one particular friend...

now of course, i had friends who i had nice open honest "man your new haircut totally bites" kind of relationships with..but i dont push that on everyone.


basically what i'm getting at is that, if i walked into a friend of a friend's room for the first time...and thought it sucked..i would NOT come right out and say to their face "man..this is the ugliest room i've ever seen"
and i dont think that that's something to feel bad about.

i rate all profiles with what i feel they deserve... premium or non-premium it doesn't bother me... and yes i've had some low ratings that kinda shocked me b4 as well... if your profile is good you should get a decent rating... if it's not then don't expect to get a 10!!!

But it happens to me often that even helps write how they love my pro and I see qiute big drop of rating.....
But what to do with it, its funny cos it is not even the rivality, its just their stupidity that Im higher then they or what.

Okay This might sound a little mean but.. Oh well. I don't really care what people rate me ( if you were smart you would rate me between a 8-10. Because if not punishment is hell HA!) But what really makes me want to poke people in the eye is when they leave a comment such as I LOVE YOUR PROFILE... and then rate it a 1 ( and by the wall kiss my bum) If you don't like it don't lie. Just say. I don't even notice half the time whether or not they are premiums. All they pay is $4.00 a month and have a few more privilages for those of you who don't know. I will rate your profile with honesty. If you have barely anything I won't give you much. If it's good you'll get more, if it's awesome you get a 10.

Afraid of a premium member of course not. They will get the rating they deserve. So what if they get a 1 or a 10 that means they have to work for it. Noone should be AFRAID they are like everyone else. If they retaliate that means they are childish !!

I have to agree - being afraid to rate a premium member low is just ridiculous. But saying you rated them high and rating them low, when you KNOW they can see your actual rating... is just plain stupid.

I fear no evil....I fear heights, courtrooms, spiders, and driving in the snow, but I do not fear rating a profile of a Premium Member.

I would not say that I am afraid but it does make me a little mad when I rated someone whom had just joined a low rating because there was nothing on their pro *mslefaye* and now she has become a premium member which is fine and she did update her pro and i was unaware of this updating. So months after I rated her a 1 she ripped me up about it. I just think that is really stupid. I mean she asked me why I did that? I only did it because there was nothing on it when I saw it the first time. Then she asked me to rate it differently even after she bitched at me for the low rating. I think when a premium member yells at you then asks you to change the rating it is just crossing the line. Everyone should be able to rate things however they like.

i dont trust anyone so i dont really rate the premium members cus they may get mad at my honesty and rate my own profile a 0 and say "thanks for the rating -10-" and then rate me a 0......

I don't think anyone should take these ratings so seriously. There are more important things in life to worry about. Some people just need to relax and not take it so personally.

I give ratings and comments as I see fit if I really like the profile and it has lots of information or a good poem or something in I will give high rating if there is no information or anything like that I will give low ratings but if i come back and the profile has been improved then I give credit where it's due

Well i put it like this...if your profile sux it sux,i know mine did for awhile and i fixed it and still am.

I rate profile according to my feelings on them......if you have no real pic of yourself you will never get over a 5 from me....I have given only two 1's...and that was inresponse to extreme rudeness and both ppl are no longer on the site....and I RARELY give a ten......I have only given out 10 of them in the whole site.....and not even all of them are to site ancients....untill a few weeks ago that number was 8......but i have seen a few damn good whelp sites....
but no i have no fear of ppl knowing what i think as if I rate low I say why also......and expect the same in return....
but I have no idea what ppl have rated me as I am broke ass and cannot yet afford premium....waiting till I can afford lifetime to get it.

Belive it or not a few of my FRIENDS on here have rated me a 1 and told me great job keep up the good work! (and I have not gone back to ask them WHY cuz I really don't care about score!! Some have even gone back and re-rated cuz they seen I had premium .. who cares if you deemed me a 1 before why change it now I say!)

Now I have nothing special in my profile or portfolio (hence why DB wants to build it for me lol) And I EXPECT everyone to rate me as they see fit .... who cares if you gimmie a low number I certanly don't!!

Scarlett has a point. tha amount of people who say very different to what they rate is amusing.

I think in some ways it could intimidate people into rating higher as people can see it, and ratings can become part of making alliences and annoying enemies instead of an honest opinion.

However, I always try to be honest and give constructive criticism to those I rate, so I suppose it depends on what your approach is to someone being able to see your rating.

Why should anyone be affraid?

The rating is your opinion on how well that person's profile or whatever is. You should not be afraid to rate someone. I am one of those who have rated low, waited on updates and rerated. I keep a list of people I am waiting on to update their profiles and when they update, I update my rating accordingly. So just message that person if there is something you think they could do to improve their profile.

Or just don't rate it at all. You can always go back to it later and rate it.

It doesn't really matter what you rate the premium members, the most they can do is bite you a whole lot.

I think its funny that so many people are terrified of premium members.. ( and mind you some of you should be.. like me for instance. Some of you know why ::raises eyebrow::) Some premium members are crazy ( me for instance again ) When some people rate a member EXTREMELY LOW ( your fools we can see it yanno) when they have busted thier bum on it yeah they are gunna be peeved. If they haven't did any work on it and there isn't alot of content but just the background colors and a few quizes.. rate em a sucky rating. BUT when they spend time and time on it with stuff that is thier won work.. be a little courious.. Rate them higher then a 5 people.. ( or feel the wrath its that simple)

I did not expect such a huge responce... I will admit while not afraid perhaps a moments hesitation, to ensure that it is honest, it at least makes me double think why...... It was interesting to see some of th PM members saying they had a few re rates... I would like a re rate for some of the ratings I got when I was a whelp and had to build a better profile, so it makes sence if your profile has improved then your rating might too,

There were a few who rerated me on that day.

There were a few I had at 1's on that day and did NOT rerate them on basis of the Premium status. I rerated them when they fixed what set me off enough to rate them 1's in the first bleedin' place.

If I've rated you a one... you profile either sucks... or I've done it on purpose to tell you something... and I sually tell you why I've done it. ;)

No I never was afraid to rate how I felt a profile should be rated. that after all is MY feelings..how much i like it not anything else.

i always rate all the premium members a 10 but usually their profile are really awesome anyways.
