Someone asked me if the physical appearence of a vampire change from the time of death to when the person becomes a vampire?
Thank you ahead of time for all the people that reply...
Kali
Well, I suppose the appearance of a dead person and a vampire would be different, btu Im not really a believer in that sort fo vampire, so I can't really make a passionate comment... I'm just going off what I think would happen.
I’ve read and at least partially believe that some say they may take on a more 'otherworldly' expression and appearance. They may not seem as attached to the physical plain as the rest of us may be. While others still believe that they appear to become 'more' in tune with their surroundings. Some say they give off a menacing aura, while others a seductive one. It all depends on the vamp I suppose. Most say that they may appear more beautiful, usually in the physical sense, but not always. A lot of the time physical beauty can tie in with one's own strengths and weaknesses. Again, just a few things I’ve picked up and a few others that I thought were simply interesting. I'm not sure if they're all true, but what the hell. ::shrugs::
It just depends on what type of vampire you believe in,I would say they're totally different things.
well going off fiction. the dead body is sustained from feeding. i.e. the body remains the same as long as feeding is initiated.
was it underworld where they ressurected that guy and he was all flaky and injured till he fed?
as for reality. since my idea of vampires is different i'd say yes... as aging probably occur in most people who can be classed vamps
and of course... even fiction vamps can get injuries... scars... not for long because they can heal fast... but just remember. that is fiction. not reality
Hmm...there are quite a few changes...well by I knew that by reading and logic.. But it does depend on what kind of vampire...
If we're speaking of a dead vampire their faces would become practicly expressionless unless they had just fed. The muscles being imboliblized by lack of blood to the tissues.
Their face pale, thus the old world thought that vampires are all pale. Their body would lose it's water fat, and the chub you'd get from eating and digesting. The organs used (except the mouth)being useless would eventually shrivel with unuse.
Hair and nails would stop growing, again except when the vampire has just finished feeding. Hair would become duller, but eyes brighter...
Information formulated by the idea of a dead body that manages to keep blood through it.
it depends, but fictionally spoken i dont think it would change much
we only change a little from death to undead it is more of a spiritual or lack of change really ...
wow this is one of the most interesting topics i have read and i would like to say good job to the creator!
I agree that it's more if a spiritual change. Something you "feel" more than see, but it reflects in the way you look. Stronger, somehow.
I'm rambling.
when u place it like that ..... it does seem that way doesnt it
I would like to thank ( once again) you all for rating this forum..
The compliments are very nice also.....
Kali...
Im not to sure but I guess for the people that believe in those Vampires it sounds normal. But I dont think that they look any different.
I believe that the vampire body is kinda like a 'photograph' of what it was when it died. In Interview with the Vampire when Claudia tries to cut her hair short, only for it to grow back in a few minutes. Realistically, I believe that we vampires age normally, but personally when I look into the mirror now, my eyes give off a certain almost predatory look to them, as with every feature on my face (atleast when I look upon myself).
Someone told me, no one on the VR, but they told me that you could be the ugliest person in the world but when you turn there is somthing that happens to your body that makes you stunningly beautiful......all my opinion...but I used to be really ugly, and now every one comments me on my beauty.. Could this be true? You are ugly one second but turn and now you can be an all time model?
As popular literature has it that vampire would keep precisely the same look as the point of passing, on your comment I'd say that you used to be "ugly" only because you saw yourself to be so as beauty is only in the eye of the beholder, what might have changed is that everyone started to remind how beuatiful you actually are...
You are not this body but the changes around it! LOL The ugly thing can also be your persona-(can't spell) We all veiw things different so it's in the eye of the beholder and what level of plain your on at the moment. I find attraction while in the earth area's, but in a concrete jungle wrapped with electricity I hide from myself.
Very interesting. Yeah I think that the body changes just a bit...but not too much. It would practically be the same, nly the skin is paler and the eyes more clear. Vampire are also emotionless, unles the want their body to have these emotions.
If any of you blood-sucking creatures of the night wanna "turn" me, please let me loose about 50lbs. first. I don't wanna be fat for ever!
The worst thing about dying is that you're so bloody stiff the next day.
I am not sure what I believe, I suppose you would look your best as a vampire.
well guys if u don`t know this go and see interview with the vampire again:P
the moment you become a vampire..you remain like it for all the years u live... do u remember little claudia?? she had an urge to become a woman..but kept looking as a child.. well..it happens to every vampire !!
After reading the responses I see that this question was asked from the point of view of hollywood and other media....I can say as being a real life vampire and not a lifestyler that we vampires are not undead.
well my mentor is a vampire and he looks exactly the same as he always had
there would have to be some physical changes as the body dies.
loss of pigment in the skin and color from the eyes.
but other than that you would prolly not not much else
To Yendor and Walkingdead, thank you for the comments....It is true that you do stay the actual way you were when you do change....But I believe that you can somewhat "alter" your appearance, maybe by makke up or somthing...I guess.
Hmm, a lot of stories feature vampires that are only beautiful. Maybe it changes you to survive in your surroundings, sort of an evolution. It would hardly help vampires seduce or capture their prey if they were hideous. I dont know I'm just rambling.
Vampires arent exacatly alive..so I do guess they dont change. Since all organs for growth are dead
Well in most beleif the body dose die, and there be no major physical changes, but the body wouldbe cold, and the skin would be pail cuz there would be no blood running through the body . . . at least thats what I think.
Hmmm. Morrigan your theory is pretty good..Interesting this post is getting....
Well of course you can, but remember that your make-up just reflects your state of mind, a popular scultorist (which at the moment I don't recall the name) said that what he does isn't to create beauty out of stone but just to bring it out as it is already embedded in the stone..
In past history.. there was talk of the bodies of the dead believed to be vampires... appearing quite life-like.. even after being dead for sometime.. thus I believe that possibly in the case of immortal vampyrism. that the vampire will remain beautiful and robust until it has been quite sometime between feedings, which in that case i would suppose that the body being free of new life giving blood would shrivel until it again was rejuvenated with a fresh meal of blood.
Ok, for the person that couldn't ask this question themselves...
Would someone please, for the sake of one of my dearest friends, tell me, if you turn and your are ugly, will you remain the same, ugly, or as a vampire will you turn out to be pretty/goodlooking....
For my friend...I do not see why you didn't ask this question yourself....
Thank you.....
Kali
Hmm. being a vampire usualle brings out perfection in a person...
Yes you are Kraven, even though I have never seen you...Lol.....
Actual living Vampyrism, Strigoi Vii, we do not change in appearence and the simple fact, when we die, we die and stay dead, not come back as some undead monster that some people fail to realize the truth of the condition.
We stay the same, aging, maybe we age a bit slower then most, yet this is an unproven, so with that we are un sure about what the condition does to the physical body, we all know what it can do to the mental, spiritual aspects of ones self.

In the days of the original myths, bodies suspected of being vampires were said to show certain characteristics, most of which have been proven as having medical background to them
1) Fingernails continue to grow-truth- the skin begins to recede from the bones, giving the appearance of nails growing
2) there was blood on the lips-truth-gases accumalating in the body cavity usually made certain organs explode, causing blood to leak through the mouth...
3)cheeks would appear rosy-truth-the vessels ruptured, giving a bloody glow to the cheeks
Hmm, I have to find out for sure...How would I do that??Anybody willing to sacrifice....?
i agree with echo...i don't believe in the immortality of vampires so i wouldnt quite know how to answer that...sorry
I believe in HLV's, not Hollywood vampires, but, supposing they would exist, I think the purpose is indeed to remain as they were in the time of death, more atractive to make the hunting more easy, but, if you want to see some possible physical changes in "turned" vampires, try this web site
http://www.fvza.org/science2.html
I personally have a hard time believing this could happen, but, "can't say all swans are white, untill a black one is born".
Hilarious comments, Moonmystic and Sebastion. hehehehehe
i cant give an honest opinion since i have been the way i am ever since i was born..but from what i have seen of those people who have come into who they are at a later time, their appearence never really chances from what they were, since it was always learking deep inside of them..their appearence is more heightened...
hmmm..varies on the kind? lol or what has happen to their face and body.:P
I have an article on this subject under the stories in my journal but in my opinion no I don't think that there would be a physical difference
yes they do, after the time of death the body of the vampyre does change. they become stronger, quicker, and over a longer time frame, the appearance does change too. they before more beautiful over time. they have what some people call glamour
Well for some they don't die, they are just born a vampire. And they look like normal
people.
Then I guess for some they do change in appearance, due to them being dead and all.
It is my impression that the physical looks remain the same, only the features are intensified, making the creature more beautiful
I agree that you may probably never grow to look any different after you have turned...But if it true that you change then how is it that you stay the same in appearence..
right now those who are vampires on this site are alive so i don't see how they're appearance can change after they die because they are already vampires when they die so when they are alive and are vampires they already look like what they should as a vampire
well it all depends movies and books eally dont explain it very well except for hpllywood looks
I don't believe in undead vampires, but I did read some book that said they would take on a pallid skin tone, then after they fed, it would turn reddish. This is only from a fictional standpoint, though.

I can honestly say that I am not totally sure what I believe, but I have always heard they become more pale and their eye color does the same. More of an albino porceline doll look. That is just something I heard I can not back it up to be a fact though.
Well, it all depends on the kind of vampire you are talking about... and then for most, a paleness unattainable to human skin...
depends on
whether you feel
more alive
as a vampire
or not
too many view points
wait did I say too many....?
never enough!
it all depends on your....(yup)
perspective of what a vampire is
but look at it this way...if you are the 'living' kind of vamp and you DIE, there had BETTEr be some change...heck your're DEAD!
If your the undead kind of vamp...there should be some change to allow you to continue life (or unlife) in the 'new' form
yes?
Like some have mentioned it depends on what you beleive in. If you live a fairy tale.. then the fairy tale becomes fact. If you are living reality then I would say nothing changes when a person dies.
well, i think that u would get paler...but other than that, just ur teeth change...
I agree with others...it would depend on the kind of vampyre u r...
I agree with the spiritual idea as well. A vampire's physical corpse will change to be sure. There have been reports of vampires being remarkably preserved after death. Many would speculate that this deals with the idea that the vampires corpse links it to this world, hence the reason why destroying the corpse traditionally destroys the vampire.
This is largely due to a misunderstanding of rigor mortis, and that it is not a permanent condition..among other things.

If there was such vampyres around like that, i'll assume it's a difference in the DNA make-up , unlike a humans.
I believe in vampires, but not the ones that raise out of their graves to feed upon living beings.. its just to fictional.
But i do believe in vampires in the spirtual undead sort of way. But thats completely different.
Wow I only believe in the Anne Rice version of a vampire lol
I defiantly dont believe in the Anne Rice version either (no offense, I love Anne Rice though)
But its not real.. its still fiction.. we cant fly, shapeshift, none of that.
well this is an interesting toppic I do not believe that vampires are the dead rissen to feed but I do believe vampires are less likely to die in the conventional way I have been hit by cars shot stabbed knocked cold put in a coma and most of these would have been death blows to most people but the doctors cant explain to me how or why I stay alive through all of it and if that means I have died in some way my appearance has never changed
"time of death to when the person becomes a vampire?"
A person is a vampire before they die..
unless your talking about completely fictional vampires.. But then again, if your talking about pure fiction, then its your imagination that decides what they look like after death.
I thought a vampire couldn't change after he/she became one
They dont change from what they are, I believe your born this way, but you awaken to it, its not something you can obtain by someone biting you.
Theres actaully a recent thread that discusses if theres a cure or not for it.
I think the body stay the same at the time of death. And the body is the one that dies but not you.
Exactly, every body will decay, its not like vampires corpses are going to remain beautiful and vibrant like they were when there were living
Their spirit and soul live on though.
I would have to say that the physical appearence can change. Some people begin to look more darker.
Yes the physical appearence can changes a bit to were you can't tell to a lot.....
i don't know myself as i am not a vampire i just have lots of friends who are. i don't think that the physical appearance changes much but as i have said i'm not sure.
depends on the vampire...look at Interview with a Vampire...Claudia stays a little 10 year old or so for what a hundred years...Dracula aged but can make himself young again it just depends..
again, can you please tell me if we`re talking about real life vampires or fictional ones? If we`re talking about real life ones, why are so many quoteing movies?
I would say that you are talking about the ficticious vampire? and that they supposedly do change. It depends on what kind of vampire you are talking about. I'm confused..
I think movies play a huge part is how we few a vampire death. I myself have no idea what one would look like after death, I am now cruious after reading this post :-)
i would assume there would be a change in appearance... but i can't base that on anything other than the movies/books i've read.
Physical changes occur as each day passes in all things, whether they be live or dead, animate or inanimate so it would be safe to think that there is definately changes that occur but I do not believe they would be ones so profound or any more rapid than the processes of aging. Losing a few pounds here and there can be noticed quickly by those who are not in contact with you day after day, but to those close to you it takes longer for change to be noticed.
yea i think the aperence does change but not in a major way
Well, I thank everyone for posting to this forum....I have gained the knowledge that I needed from all of you...
The majority of fictional vampires change somewhat at the point of death but then after that change at an incredibly slow rate. Claudia would have taken millenia just to reach puberty much less womanhood. Some like nosferateu have extreme changes initially then slow. All fictional vampires that I am aware of change drastically after a certain point of not feeding. I would say that non-fictional vampires again change some at awakening/embracing then in most I have known the appearance of aging slows somewhat unless they dont feed regularly. Some may say that the slowing of the aging is because they spend less time in the sun. But I figure thats just people trying to find a logical reason for something they cant explain and are afraid to face. ;-[
It all depends. There are a number of different types, most of which show no outward sign of transformation. Some can, in mild forms, but extreme changes are rare appearing only in vampire films and other fictional pieces. What changes do occur, are internal, the change in the way one views oneself, the bloodlust, any number of factors now play a psychological role that can carry some degree of physical dependency creating the vampirism so distinct and so hard to nail down as it were if all will forgive the expression.
When someone turns into a vampire, don't their skin get like more pale and cold and all that stuff?
Yeah...They get pale because they are the Undead...Also...They don't go into the sun much so the melanin in their skin is almost pale...
danzig1330 said it best: i don't believe in undead vampires.
Well im hoping when i die i dont come back...the amount of body spray needed would be phenomonal. I need a really good dentist too talk about bad breath
Good job i dont believe all the Hollywood films huh
The more the energy the better the physical appearence...If one suddenly became awakened...Yes they would appear younger and would almost have a glow to them...
A fair few people believe that a vampire's appearance does not alter once he or she has been bitten. But surely the evolution would have affected their appearance...
Anyway what does it matter?
Many vampires of myth and movie, are capable of shape-shifting to take on the appearance of others, or of animals...
Hold on... there's your answer, if the cells are still actively able to alter, change shape, then surely they are still alive and growing, thus changing the appearance of the vampire.
I thank you
Since it looks like the information gained was what the thread maker wanted, I say this thread should be closed.
....and do I LOOK that dead? Bloated maaybe, but certainly not dead. ;)
