Since I've been a member of this site but especially recently,I've heared people saying that certain people should not be here.

One of the most common is this one:

''You shouldn't be here cause you aren't a vampire/goth.''

Who are they to say such thing,I think only the owner should decide who should and should not be here right?

As far as I know it says: vampirerave.com not vampireandgothsonly.com

That's why the word rave,to learn.

Then why there's this sort of discrimination?

In the home and sign in section it doesn't tell you that to be here you have to be in the vampiric or gothic life style.The unique things asked when signing in are to be 13 years or over and to obey the rules.

I was also ignored cause I said am not a vampire and am not the typical girl that when seen outside you could say likes gothic things.

Then why there's this hosility?How can you expect to be understood and accepted if you are the one who shows arrogance?

Apart from the vampiric/gothic fact I saw a certain hostility against those who don't live in the country most of the vr members live,do you find it,it is unfair to show a certain discrimination in here when we are the ones who say:''We are not like the rest of society.''?

Wouldn't that be condratictory?Are we really different or we fake it?

We really don't have the right to say who should or should not be here. Some people come here hoping to learn more. But, I do however wish that people would not treat this as just a dating site. Thats not what this site is about. Sure, if you happen to meet someone here & you click thats fine. But, some people join just for the sole purpose of hooking up with someone.

If you have a problem with someone, block them. If they show up in forums, ignore them or argue with civility, that is what I do. I argue my point and then leave it at that. They will be caught sooner or later if they continue. But everyone is welcome and everyone has their opinion. If someone comes in here and argues against everything I am and do, IF they argue well, I will agrue back but not to be mean, just to argue the point. This site should remain civil. I get fed up but I do not normally get mean. I will state my opnion, and if people agree, they agree, if they dont, lets debate it, not start insulting or saying who belongs here.

This should be a sanctuary, a place to be ourselves and have discussions. Goth itself is a variable subject with many facets, and many people who feel differently.

If someone thinks that another person shouldn't be here because they're not "goth enough" than perhaps they should look at themselves and see what they are trying to prove by making someone else an outcast to the "outcast culture".

People are absurdly ignorant, and disgustingly judgemental. I may dislike people as a whole, but I don't tell someone where they should and shouldn't be. Its non of my buisness nor my concern.

a volunteer is part of a specific demographic, but volunteering is a choice.

Actually you can be discriminated because of your demographic. I did some research on this when the City of Lowell decided to not let a club I frequent holy the NEGPM Festival (New England Gothic Punk Metal) because they "didn't want to attract that type of demographic". I did some research and helped compile a case against the city. THe Festival was allowed, later than previously scheduled, and not in a public park, but it was allowed.

If you would like I can get the scripture from the legality website that explains discrimination and its types, as well as how demographic discrimination effects society. ;)

Someone can discriminate against you because of your demographic. A demographic would be the culture or subculture that a person "belongs" to. (ie goth, punk, rapper, etc).

For example:
You are highly qualified for a position as a customer service retailer, and you get passed over the job for someone much less qualified because your demographic isn't deemed "appropriate" for the tone of the store.

That is discrimination. You demographic is a personal choice, but it is still a part of who you are. Discrimination of any kind is not tolerated.

Gothic and Vampirism are not mutualy exclusive. To live the path of a vampire is a theology and ideology that one can most certainly live without others knowing. Thus you do not need to 'look' gothic or 'vampy' to be such.

I have a dream.....that vampires, werewolves, witches and fairies will all join hands and sing together in the .......well, you get the picture!!!!!

Anyone who is interested in Vampires should be on this site. Kudos to Cancer for having the vision to form this site. The way I see it... everyone on here should be on here. We were all lead to this site for a reason otherwise we wouldn't be here now. A time and a reason for everything.

I think everyone should be welcomed as long as they do not start fights or pick on people are are rude and ignorant. Plus i think there should be a age limit of at least 15. Since some people who are young tend to put people down.

It's my belief that if you are open minded and willing to listen to all points of view, then you should be welcome here.

As for the look and how one comes off to the world, that is a matter of personal opinion and frankly, I don't care if your a goth or not, if your a Vampyre or a "Vampire".

If your cool then that is what should matter.

I personally don't run around in black and decked out all goth like or go around acting like a vampire. I don't need to do these things to know what I am and how I fit in.

I'm myself, a man with a condition like a few others in the world. I wear baggie blue jeans with sandles and a white t-shirt, or I wear black baggie jeans with sandles and a white t-shirt.

I wear a hat which is always on backwards and I don't wear makeup.

And from this, I have many friends, here on the Rave and around the island. So with that, it only goes to show, that someone doesn't need to be "gothic" to be cool or to be on this site.

I'm glad I havent met anybody yet who told me to get off the site, for not being goth or vamp or for being too old. Did the 13 year old think kids made the site??

Anyway, I'm a really curious but also skeptic person, but since I'm hear I learned a lot about vampires and I learned a few things about myself. I found a few people who belive in the same things like me and I found 2 women who gave me some advice about me being a natural witch, which I didnt know before I was.

VR is for me definitly a place to learn and to meet people who can help me with it and to give back to little of knowledge I have. I have rarely met a community of so many different people and so less fights and arguing and I am really impressed.
So I guess this is also a thanks to all the tolerant people on here ;)

I wish people would learn as easly about tolerance and living with each other as they learn how to abuse people.

The site is free for all and no one should be made to feel left out because of his/her opinions or the way they dress! That is just stupid labelling.

People will always be just that, people, with all the foibles and faults that they carry with them.

Open minded ones are here along with the closed minds, you only have to go through some of the threads here to see how blinkered some are. But that is their perogative.

I choose who I speak with by making sure first and foremost they have enough brain cells to keep a thought going for more than a second, if they can;t hack it then I can quite happily ignore what they have to say and don't worry if they are here or not.

Life is a playground to learn in, some learn more quickly than others.

I would just say to not worry about the odd pettiness you may find here but embrace the knowledge that is here to be found if you look a little deeper.

I don't think anyone should be kept from joining with the exception of certain age groups and personally I think 13 is way to young to be in here but that is just me. I also think that as long as someone is not attacked that everyone should be allowed to express their opinion regardless of whether they believe in vampires or not. Just because one person does not agree with another's opinion doesn't necessarily mean they are attacking you and if they do it without being rude they have just as much right to disagree with you as well as agree with you! The thing that bothers me the most is that there seems to be alot of hostility towards the USA especially from people who live in the USA and have never lived in any other country. I have lived in two different countries and until you live in another country you can't really complain about the USA. The grass isn't always greener on the other side, and I am glad to have moved back to the good old USA because I wasn't so well excepted in the other country and it wasn't better than the USA. You can always think some place is better but until you experience it for yourself you shouldn't really say for sure that you know it is.

i believe anyone should be able to join or visit here, with the exception of younger kids, possibly under the age of 13 or 14..

other than that this is a place of learning and community, if you came here to hate, then yea you shouldnt be here, if you came here to learn and grow, then yes you are more than welcome here..

I'm not into ratings, and they aren't that important but I was rated a 1, because I'm a wolf, not vamp or goth. That was really stupid, no one except for Cancer has the righht to say your not welcomed. And no one, I mean no one should have any reason to be prejudice or snobbish against anyone else here. i have had a taste of some of this discrimination from some ignorant people here and there -amusingly enough one of them had read my profile and assumed "Guardian" meant "vampire slayer"

these people i summarily ignore. block or in some cases just sit back and laugh. most of the time bigotry doesnt even deserve the effort of a response and ignorance can only be cured when the one who is ignorant wants to be enlightened.

those who flame here are warned and then shown the door. i actually see very little of it.

prejudice is a fundamental and instinctual part of the human condition.

vampire rave provides a haven for the vampire/goth community, when this safety is 'breached' by attitudes, personalities or opinions they seek haven from, prejudice is a definite reality.

This site is just for people with the shared love of vampires and the similar, not some elitist cult.

You'll find that as you get to the higher levels though, these sort of people disappear. It's like Darwin's Survival of the Fittest, the idiots are gradually gotten rid of, or made to get some common sense and realize that vampires don't, in fact, rule the universe.

Now my thought to everyone here. Does black clothes make someone a goth? If so, is Johnny Cash a goth? Look, no one has the right, but Cancer. If you are a vamp, goth, or even a hillbilly that wants to learn about vampires, you SHOULD be here. I never claimed to be a vamp, however I am a donor. I'm not a goth, at least not one that is the stereotypical goth (black clothes,very depressed, and only listens to goth/rock music). We are here because we are different. And with that, I say be different. Don't be a goth or vamp, if that's not who you are. Be yourself and leave the idiots to god (in this case that would be Cancer).

This site has many personalities in the mix, however there can only be one ultimate leader. Cancer is the creator and therefore has the power, he has in place a system which can deal with these problem personalities.
I believe that we are all here because
i) We are interested in vampires
ii) Enjoy life a little darker than most
iii) Maybe feel the need to find people that understand, or are willing to understand our particular situation.
Now, I don't want to get nasty, but if people can't get along with others, if they go out of there way to get in your face, then, that is when that somebody has to be moved on.
For me, I don't get alot of time in the week to do much of anything that I want, and the time I do get, I do my best to get on here, if that valueable time gets messed up by someone wrongfully thinking they are in charge well, I'll do my best to make you wish you are in hell.
But thats about as nasty as anything can really get on here, just words.
Even the worst insult on here can be laughed at, in the end it doesn't really matter what they say.
What it does do is damage the success of the site, and that is a shame.

I personally dont think that RPG-ers should be on this site... I think that they are a disgrace to our race, but then again some people consider all who are on this site RPG-ers. We are all discriminated against every day, when we are turned down for a date or refused a job placement. It's in our nature to do it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, even if they are a bigot or racist, sexist, agist blah blah. Other peoples opinions will hurt others even if they are not intended to. The carnivore will make the vegetarian sad and the gay will offend the traditionalist. We can only carry on regardless. Everyone should be able to use this site if that is the opinion of the man who created it. It was created with a purpose and that purpose should be respected.

This is a free site, anyone is allowed in here since it is at least 13 years old and follows the rules (and i dont recall any rule saying you need to follow vampire or gothic lifestyle to be a member).
If anyone has to say who may or not be on this community, that person, is Cancer.
If the "elitists" in this site, can't accept that, than they are the ones that should leave, and build an elitist site of theyr own.
In the end, what i can say is, that kind of people, only deserve one thing: be ignored for theyr discrimination.

I came here because there is not a place for witches and to me vampires and witches are kinda the same we all don't belong places and we are just searching for others like us. I really don't know what goth and I don't believe it is clothing. With every community you come along and meet people that are not nice but that is everywhere. The only people I think that banned is children. At least under 18. There is to much on this site that they don't understand oor can grasp the full meaning. But they are on here and I have came across alot that don't act their age. I hate discrimination but it is everywhere. I get it everyday because I am wiccan on a military post. It sucks but I won't hide.

I think it is sad to say to someone that they cant be part of a vampire orientated site because your not a vampire or a goth.

If that was said to me {If I was a NORM} then i would ignore it...Unless it was said to me by Cancer or was stated in the rules

I like vampirerave because there are so many different people on here. no matter where they are from or what kind of thinking they have. It's a community of now almost 6000 people and I really love it to talk to so many people I probably never met in my life.

Only people with bad thoughts and small minds should stay away from here.

Well considering that I'm a witch I guess accorrding to the small minded people I shouldn't be on this site.However I was introduced to the site by some really awesome people and have met some great people here. I am here to learn about the vampireic lifestyle. I say thanks to all the open-minded people who take the time to help inform me and teach me. To the others that are not willing to share knowledge .........I only hope that one day you will be enlightened.

I feel that those who wish not to learn nor help others should not be here.

I totally agree! Its wrong to say such a thing! Im glad you have brought this up and hope whoever those people are learn from this and start treating the other member on this site with some respect that they deserve! If anything, They are the ones that shouldnt be here... Learn some respect guys! Everyone is their own person, no matter what lifestyle they choose to follow, everyone is welcomed here! :) so just have fun and enjoy it!

Wow some people really have a hide to say such things ... people are different in there own ways, so l tottaly agree with what your saying.

Everyone has their own opinion. I'm sure there are people out there who think a happy-punk green-haired vampire doesn't belong here too... But here I am, I'd just say to those who are insecure, "Deal with it."

sometimes ppl come off as rude, mean...whatever, but in most instances it is all in how u take what they say...feelings get hurt, verbal jabs are thrown, and then plp start draggin others in...its a childish, immature ring, but as long as there is a failure to communicate clearly...everyone will have to deal with it. anyone on here can tell u that u can't be on here, but thats when u shrug it off and don't worship the drama

People are just mean sometimes. It is a fact of life and I agree with an earlier post - "Don't sweat the small stuff. Ignore them."

Someone flamed me for talking to her boyfriend. So I blocked her. To me it's like - "whatever"...I am too old to fall for someone else's melodrama and if they don't like me - who cares? There are plenty of folks who do. Stick to the people that like you and ignore the ones who don't dear. You are too nice to worry about jerks.

I think people should be open and accepting others for who they are not what they are. If they meet a fellow vampire, then great more power to you. But if not, well greet that person anyway and get to know that person.

I think that people who are intollerant, who ofense other members of the VR, who attempt to destroy what others worked to create here...those people should not be here.

And by offending I mean people who dirrectly attack other members and insult them or have a very agressive behaviour that tends to disrupt the community...

I joined this site because of my fondness and natural curiousity for all things dark....my jobs do not permit me to dress as I so desire, but hell...half the time I'm comfortable wearing my khaki's and white shirts and what not.....to look at me you would say that I am not a goth or a vamp....but in me beats the goth or vamp....does this mean I don't fit in here on vr?.....I say bullshit.....I certainly don't believe that ones style of clothing should make one be a "goth" or a "vamp"....that's just part of the mystique....outside of work I do like to show my true self....which is one who love to wear sexy black vampy clothing....only because I like the style and how much more sexier I feel when dressed like a vamp....not because I am dictated to in order to hang with other like minded ppl....I say "who gives a f...k... to what anybody else has to say when it comes to ones preference or likes

Anybody is and should be allowed as long as they follow the rules. The level system helps to weed out anyone who isn't serious, those are the only type of people who shouldn't be here.

And I ask who should have the pretense to pretend to know how to jugde whose a faker & hypocrit?

yes i here things like that all the time, one of my most recent arguments about this was with another member who keept saying things but what she didnet relise was she was just being a hypocrit...personaly i think people like this who say that certin people should not be here are the people who should not be here, this is a community and within that community there are many religions and many lifestyles and nobody should be discrimintaed within that community...well thats just my opinion

i personally dont think it matters who goes onto this site, if they have a real interest then they will take it more seriously and actually try.

i agree with you. no matter what someone is, the fact that they are here means that they show a genuine interest and wish to learn more. i think that it's great that people other than vamps and goths are here. when one looks at me, the last thing that comes into their mind is that i'm a goth. but what i look like and what i am are two different things entirely.
