I was having a debate with afew friends the other night and once again my friend kel got onto the subject of religion, I know no-one likes talking about religion but she actually got me thinking (gave me a headache..hehehe)

She has this theory that God wasnt a man or entity at all, but was a race of aliens *giggles just thinking about it*

She said, That a race of aliens created us as an experiment, After a few hundred years they sent an alien down amung us to study us and to help us develop, (Jesus). when a certain time in his life came "Jesus" was able to do things...float wood in mid-air, turn his water into milk...steal toys from other kids..hehe etc magic power's..Mary & Joesph got scared and brought him to a high priest of their time...in turn he took jesus away for his own safety...(she said that's why jesus goes from 12 to 30 in the bible/testament etc) between that time "jesus" learns to use his power for good, to help his fellow people in the struggle against the romans etc...then he goes to summon special people to help him in his quest (the apostles) his walking on water, his turning water into wine, him feeding the 5,000 etc etc...mircles!? or magic power's!?

Then the romans got scared of him and his power's so they decided to kill him..which they did...but the alien "jesus" didnt die...instead he rose and called to his alien people...They came to collected him (the ascension into "Heaven")

What i want to know is, could this be a vaild theory or just nonsense of a crazy person...! Plus tell me your person views on this subject!

Sam

Well sam,i might be wrong but i am sure that the cave where Jesus was laid to rest had pictures of two space men in..and/or some sort of vehicle as well...
Or was that in the pyramids..
But anyway, i have heard of this theory before.Oh and anything is possible.

well, those landing strips in the Andes, pictures that only can be seen from clouds. It is just that the very thing that makes life possible on other planets, the immense size of the universe is also the very same thing that makes it impossible for them to get here. I don't believe this planet has ever had a close encounter of any kind. That is my story and I am sticking to it. PLus we have been sending radio signals from the 1970';s out into space from those large satilite dishes and we even send them in binary codes, and there is nothing but dead air out there, they don't even hear the first rock and roll song of Chuck Berry's when it first hit the radio, that is out there, if Johnnie B Goode, playing guitar like he was ringing a bell doesn't get their attention, then I don't know what will. They are out there but the distance is just too great. It is a needle in a haystack to get here, we are drawing attention to ourselves, only recently, I mean radio waves moves really fast, yet

that whole theory of mine about the rubber banding of big bangs, time could very well be infinite, and just as the Himalayas are a new moutnain compared to the older Alps, there are perhaps other galaxies older than the Milky way, where they have could been travelling through space for millions of years, even before we were humans, but why would they come here? We weren't even here yet

and if they did construct us , then why are our genes related to the pig or dogm et cetera? They have been around for like 40 million years, so no, that theory is definately debunked for a variety of reasons.

You know Vamp..a thousand years ago if you had said that we will be able to fly they would of laughed.Eighty years ago if you had said that we will be able to split a atom you would have been laughed at.
Only twenty years ago if you had said we will be able to teleport one molecule from one area to another they still would of said this will be impossible, but it can now be done...as i said before anything is possible

This is not a new theory. We all have had this thought in some alcohol or drug induced brain storm session.

Actually, I believe there are several books written along these lines.

You know, that's pretty amusing, and entirely feasable at that. XD

If it were that way, it would explain a lot of things...Like Area 51....UFO's...The list continues. Then again, this is all assuming the Bible is correct in some way or another. Not that I'm saying it's wrong, but there are so many other possibilities. I mean what if aliens exist, but all they are is us from a parallel universe, much more andvanced than us. So much so that they know how to travel through space and time itself.

If that's the case, all I can say is, we really need to pick up the pace. :P

Please tread very lightly on subjects of whether or not religion is "valid" in this forum as these threads tend to be closed quickly. Bashing or flaming people for having or NOT having belief in a particular thing is unacceptable.

Akasha18: For your reference this is what is considered to be the most direct Judeo/Christian scriptural reference to dinosaurs.

"Look at the behemoth, which I made along with you and which feeds on grass like an ox. What strength he has in his loins, what power in the muscles of his belly! His tail sways like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are close-knit. His bones are tubes of bronze, his limbs like rods of iron. He ranks first among the works of God..."(Job 40:15-19)

I have heard some variant theories of creation that could have given rise to the story in the first post; certainly many gnostic gospels offer various cosmological explanations.

yes Religion is important in understanding the unexplained, but it also polarizes issues when religion sometimes closes the mind's of the behoildes from science.

Science and religion work in tandem to explain what we cannot imagine.

They are both necessary facets and tools of understanding. Although religion doesn't explain anythiing about how things came to pass, just saying god did it, religion is very important to give people a philosophy to guide their lives by. I wish I believed in god.

The science of it is this Theban, and no, I don't know who told you Scotty can beam you up now. If we can teleport particles, they would have to be small, and for very short distances.

In that case it would only be an illusion that the particle was transported at all, for it moved so fast we couldn't see it move across the microscope lens.

BUt worm holes are theorirzed, but how do you get a worm hole to point in the direction of where you want to go? It is a like a log flume to nowhere.

The reason why I bring up worm holes is because it is the only possibility to bending space to make the celestial distance not as great.

Even if we'd do the speed of light it would take more than ten thousand years to get to Betelguise, the nearest star.

BUt even though space is somewhat of a vaccum, we can't just go the speed of light to do that 10,000 year trip to the nearest star that may or may not even have a planet.

Going through space unmapped is like going around a blind curve.

The movie Lost in space utilizes logs of former space travel to make the hyperspace jumps to those designated areas. Even with that knowledge of where the planets were on a previous trip, there are things like merteors, or asteroids, which are bigger than the penny when drop from the 111 floor of the Empire State Building slice through human skulls. What happens when a space ship doing the speed of light hits a space rock?

In the bible it does prophesy that metal birds would fall from the skies.

I am not going to knock your theory Theban, I am just giving you the limitations of science as we know it. I know science changes, and you maintain that anything is possible because the fact science changes, but the laws of physics do not ever change, at least that is the only thing we can count on in the universe.

It is in the imagination of those who come before who make ralities come to pass, as with the metal birds in the sky falling in the bible.

I am not going to go against your enthusiam to believe that aliens can get here, for if we follow your exhuberance we might get to them first. We are destined to destroy this planet, and therefore must leave it, so we will be out among the stars someday... I concur. Imagination creates new science, so run with those theories.

You should go to the Hayden PLanetarium in NYC.

When I was there they had a lazer light show about the vastness of space. If you think waiting for her call is a long time this weekend, imagine thousands of generations "living" on a spaceship never to see a sun rise, a rain shower....

While many theories concerning extraterrestrial involvement in the development of mankind are rather plausible, I'd have to say this one just sounds like a bad acid trip. It doesn't add up if you take a detailed look at bible writings as well as actual historical references. Though there are a lot of theories concerning extraterrestrial involvement with the ancient Incas, Egypt, and a few other civilizations.

Ctyler, good, I mean that is why I write, to learn from you guys too.

well, there was a star trek Voyager episode where there was a rift in spcae where there were interdimensional beings, that were being hunted from our universe by some canabalistic space creatures, and even though these interdimesional space poeple were friendly, they came into our universe to defeat our entire universe. Voyager got in the way of the crossfire, and ultimately found a way to defeat them, but they were soooo advanced man, they had to break that episode into two parts because there seemed to be no way out. But that Katherine Janeway, man she saved the universe. There is a tremendous brain under all of her hair!

Newtons elementary laws of physics are pretty much written in stone, gravity and all that. An apple will fall on any philosophers head on any planet to turn him into a scientist.

Yet, the idea of inner space intrigues me, maybe that is where heaven and god is? I never thought of that.

behemoth is a giant, much larger than an elephant.

An eye for an eye is not a good philosophy. We need religion as much as science. Poking fun at biblical references will only close their minds to science.

They are not opposites, somewhere between science and religion is truth. We have to work together Tyler.

This is not to say that you intended to poke fun at religion, I may have erred, but I got that impression so others might have too.

I enjoy a good poking as well as the next man. If a religion, or its followers can't even take a poke, it doesn't speak well for either.
Science has gotten its fair share of poking over the years. No need to stop now. Questioning is the sole vein of intelligence.

I posted this in response to the why are we here thread i thought it would suit here also in regards to the extraterrestrial origin of the bible:

Alien experiment, myths going as far back as the babylonians, speak of great powers from the sky in ships. The Bible's Old Testament very carefully records the chronology of several generations of beings from Adam through Ishmael. The average lifespan of these beings, at least for the first ten generations recorded, is well over 900 years - plenty long enough for interstellar exploration to be feasible. From the eleventh generation (Shem) on through the twenty-first generation (Ishmael), the lifespan drops dramatically to less than 200 years. If one draws a timeline chart from this information, several interesting things come to light. The first is that we are unable to plot an accurate timeline for Enoch, since (according to Genesis 5:21-24) when he was 365 years old, "[He] walked with God; and he was not, for God took him." Where was Enoch taken? Couple these speculations with the fact that the so-called evolutionary "missing link" has never been found, as well as the quite sudden appearance of modern Man 40,000 years ago (editor's note: recent evidence pushes the date back even farther), and it become all too clear as to where our real "roots" lie. Consider this quote from Genesis and the Big Bang:

"Three million years ago in a region of Hadar, Ethiopia, and in Laetoli, Tanzania, animals that walked upright with a smooth and erect bipedal stride first appeared. This means that for three million years a type of animal moved about with hands free for grasping and using objects. Yet during almost this entire period the manufacture of tools evolved only slightly, being confined to the making of stone cores and flint blades... at the start of the final 1 percent of the time that bipeds have been roaming the Earth, tools diversified at a rate far in excess of anything seen during the previous 99 percent of their tenure."

Could it be that extremely advanced, long-lived beings from space discovered our planet long ago and established their own colonies, eventually mixing their genes and knowledge with the ape-men? This explanation fits all the facts."

And in regards to the babylonian myths and tablets some of you might not be aware but christianity has roots in the babylonian relgions/myths!! Cough *Stolen roots* Cough cough!

Ashta gets a gold star for that one. I missed that post in the why are we here topic somehow. Where has Ashta been hiding?

Well, the books she is reading are ancient, and her reference to first bipedals is off a bit, I think it is 4.5 million years now. I like the idea of the word of god. She also has a passion for the topic which has the power to influence. BUt I am not sure what she believes, quoting others, and making arguements for all cases, but I guess she was making the arguement that because no missing link had been found there had to be alien DNA put in to start the human race.

Hey, monkey sex has happened before, they say AIDS was started by a flight attendant who visited Africa in the late 1970's and then spread the disease everywhere.

All god had created is AIDS from out of that, a new life form making our bodies alien to us. "Alien" is perhaps a word that can also have metaphorical meaning. I mean alot of those alien sci fi movies, they aren't really talking about extra terrestrials, I feel, there are states of existence on this planet where we feel like aliens some times and it is Hollywood to run it in after the fact, that we are no longer of this earth.

Aliens do certainly exist, perhaps multi gods too, the universe's immensity allow for such possibility.

Yes the other thing she blew me out of the water was the living for hundreds and hundreds of years aspect. It does make interstellar space travel more viable because of longevity, but space travel is on the order of many zeroes added to the time formula, and whether we live another century or two longer doesn't make a dent in spacetime.

Cryogenics would be the loophole for that. If only we could figure out how to make the cellular parts not rupture from the expanding of liquid body fluids, like blood. I guess there could be a way to drain the body of blood, and interstitial fluids, and then dry freeze the body for space travel. Cryogenics seems the way to go. But the properties of physics, that liquid expands when frozen is the same here as on other planets. Once that can be defeated, then space tavel for lightyears through the vast vaccum deserts of space seems more plausible.

Alot of you say that the tale of God & Jesus were created by men...They were created by the church, So that the men of the church could set their own rules and everyone would believe them because the church say it was jesus' way and it was part of the religion....they say "do not steal" FINE..."do not sleep with thy neighbour's wife"FINE etc...They tell us this and they tell us that, but look at what the church do...they have pedo's and child abuser's in the church...but to them its acceptable...My personal opinion of the church...A BUNCH OF FUCKING HYPERCRITIC'S! though i don't believe in that myself. i do have to point out that there are whole religions based on that theory or one like it.

there's that cult that all the members wanted to commit mass suicide so that aliens could take them back to the homeland... impossible with a stinking body stuck to you.

also there's theories that involve like the halo around the head of the people in pictures from then. some say it's the reflection off their space helmets.

Well I think everyone has their own opinion....and I believe in God and Jesus and aliens....but I dont think Jesus was an alien....because Im sure aliens would have got fed up with all the craziness on the earth and the space travel and all the other crazy things we do....I believe they would have destroyed us by now if that were the case.....

Heres a thought, say that we're the result of alien experimentation, in any experiment there are different results, what if these different results, different species mutations whatever what if they turned out to be Vampires, Werewolves experimenting with alien and animal DNA. Also with people who have unnatural abilities such as telepathy and psychokinesis being able to see spirits etc; that its the cause of different results from experimentations...Its just an idea don't stone me!!!

its scary tough that we might be a result of such expirementions...

Any theory for the birth of our species is valid simply by suggesting it. Whether or not your friend is crazy may be debatable but even that wouldn't discount the theory put forward...though watching Mission To Mars too many times may be a factor.

all in all sam, it does not matter how we became, its how we live that governs existence, simply what we choose to acknowledge as truth is true to us... in the end it turns to what you believe.

the forces of evolution have nothing to do with god, for all the religions debate agianst evolution all the time. Now that god is taken out the equation, we must face Ashta's assertion of aliens controlling evolution.

I have my own theory of evolution that is quite well known on this site, and I won't spiel it here, but the forces that cause mutation, and evolution, as well as the degradation of genes or the acquisiton of powers, in my own personal experiementation has not one thing to do with aliens.

Until you have an alien come down and change your genes, then you can battle my empirical theory based upon the hypothetical method using the rules of science to determine these forces nature.

Good luck waiting for an alien to come by, I don't think one has ever been positively identified in the history of civilization.

Lol Vampire in the sun!! I've held out long enough...my name is I not Ashta!!

And i guess this discussion could go on for ages, everyone has their own opinion, some swear by it and keep to it no matter what, others are open to new possibilities and suggestions, i prefer the latter response.
I am always open to suggestions i never limit myself to one idea or belief i keep trying to go forward and come up with not only feasible theories but also expand on ones that are already talked about. And in the end, bar aliens coming down to explain our existence or God himself, i doubt we will ever know. But still we keep asking questions for the most part we try and move forward to find out why and how we are here, its in our nature and the feeling is only becoming stronger, as we speedway ourselves through time!!

I think it is Blondies song rapture which talks about aliens coming to earth, eating cars, bars and then guitars... Tamara, which means little palm tree, had a best friend named Asha, and the movie Ishtar was considered the worst of all time, so I just put an A where the I would be, because I don't want to compare you to the worst movie of all time. The reason why your mind is open to all sorts of ideas is because you don't know what to think, yes it is a good philosophy for finding truth, but when you have the answers, then it is time to state what one has learned from a full rich life. Blondie used to come and sit right in front of Tamara at her restaraunt and eat, over and over again. I never plied her questions of the alien reference in Rapture, but isn't rapture a thing about God coming down here? I guess Blondie does believe in what you purport, that we were sired by aliens...

she is famous, my plot ends in a plot in a potters field, so... maybe you are right, prevailing theories of science like that we come from furry little animals with stereo scopic vision, I wasn't there to see how the genes matched up, in DNA comparison.

Truthg for me is a cantelever effect, there is a hinge on which all the rest of my theories rotate around, if the hinge of science falls a part, then all my truths fall to the wasteland.

The Koren doctor who said he cloned humans with stem cells, well he was lying, he fooled the whole world. Take what I say for what it is worth, but it is closer to the truth than what most peeps perpetuate.

In Einstein's e=mc squared, c is the constant for the speed of light. At the time and even up til maybe ten years ago the speed of light was thought to be constant. Since then it has been determined that light, which is a photon, is a particle with mass and not an energy wave. Yes it could be a hijacked particle with energy, but the piggy back effect of the movement of the photon, because it has mass moves according to any laws of physics, Newton's laws of motion, gravity, acceleration et cetra.

Just as the nutrino, which has even less mass than the photon, is attracted by gravity because it has weight, so does the photon more expopnentially so since the nutrino is one of the smallest partciles known to man. The nutrino accerates when it comes into a gravitational field, and with the velocity at such a pitch, the nutrino actually has enough energy top shoot into the earth and out the other side of the planet, so, photons also accelerate because of Newton's laws. Things like black holes, the deep freeze of space and other forces of gravity are going to make the photon move. There just was a problem with the measurements.

I remember when I was in grade school they brought out a meter and dumped many scoops of sand on it, and then determined how many grains of sand was on the scale. Of course it was an act of magic and not science, the meter didn't count sand grains, it counted the weight of the sand through mathematics.

When devices are constructed to measure new conceptual particles, the science isn't up to speed. Look at the speed of sound breaking, some 800 MPH, off the top of my head, or Mach one, I think the fastest we can move in our atmosphere is mach three but still even at some 2,400 MPH that is nothing compared with how fast light moves, you can add several zeroes and still come up short.

Because of the void of Science, and the slow acumulation of data for thousands of years, science is a work of progress, and should not be discounted because it is in an imperfect formative state as of now. Other constants may not be constant, as well, but the physics of particle motion is so basic, studies done with ramps, or Galilio throwing two objects of different weight off of the tower of Pisa and both having the same terminal velocity. It has all been done over and over again. Of course in the absolute zero of space, 0 Kelvin or -273 celcius, I am sure light speed is affected. But in time, as the particles of light emanate from the sun they are hot, and move faster, and even though they slow down they speed up as they reach the other gravitational fields of planets, as well as escaping from the sun's gravitational fields which would also take into account for the speed of light to appear constant with all these forces cancelling out. I assume this was why science was fooled, in light that they thought it was an energy wave.

The problem is, you just can't really grab a photon and hold it in your hand and throw it on a scale to see how much it weighs, it moves to damn fast, so fast that, the whole concept of the light year is astronomical speed. I think there is even a new constant given to the speed of light the au, or astronomical unit.

My point is, well, actually CTyler, you made the point for me. I was telling you guys how it is impossible for aliens to get here, and then you say science isn't accurate by bringing up the speed of light,

well the fact of the matter is, a light year is something that travels for a year at the speed of light, and if Betelgeuse is 10,000 light years away, and that is the closest star, I mean, hell, I retract what I said before that aliens could get to us given enough time, there is not enough time in the univers to make the distant interstellar trips across the deserts of the sands in the hourglass of time.

About the only thing that can impregnate the Earth is renegade comets from other solar systems, or meteors from asteroids from Mars, Mercury, Venus, and objects in the Kuiper Belt, all the other planets are made of gas.

There have been some MArtian rocks that have landed from Mars kicked up because an asteroid hit mars and then, the bacertia, or ancient deads fossilized bacteria has hit the earth, but, shoot, space is a vaccum, all things alive have cell walls and have pressurized insides, and when you trasvel through space, even bacteria will explode from a lack of atmosphere to keep it whole. Even if the bacteria originated in space and it has always existed in a vaccum, the second it hits the earth it would implode from the pressure of the sky, all the molecules of air atoms pressing down on us at 15 pounds per square inch, no, we are definately alone in the universe, not because it ain't out there, just is the undeniable truth that the very thing that makes life potential possible on other worlds, the vastness of space, is the very same thing that protects us from Jesus aliens from beaming down to teach us how to live. None of us would listen to an alien Jesus anyways, it would all be Greek to us.

I thought about this for several days CT, so there is your answer, stop bugging me and everyone else on this site will be happy. Don't make do this to you again.

I would have sent this to you onyour email interdept, but I was ambushed again over there, page keep freezing from a second saboteur, now there are two people who are actively forcing me off this site. I hope it doesn't come to that. If vampires can't understand a vampire then, humans certainly won't.

I've never heard of that theory before. That's an interesting way to look at things. I'm glad you actually brought up religion because for some reason I'm weird and love to babble on about it. I don't know exactly what i think about the whole jesus thing, but all i know is that the findings of todays scientists don't match up with what the bible has said. For example; the bible doesn't say anything about dinosaurs, yet today's scientists have proven that dinosaurs came millions of years before any human was ever on this earth

inconsistency in the bible is due to the telephone game effect, the word of god in the saints ear, to the scribes hand, and then to our eyes. The bible has been corrected through time, as science has become more generally accepted even by the church because of it's methods of determination. Faith is important, I don't believe in god, so I have to study a second language to get the faith healing effect.

What is the faith healing effect?

Just believing in God affects the temporal lobe of the brain, which is involved in the immune system. If you believe in god, I mean really believe, then you will be more healthy.

The study of a second language has the same effect on the White Blood Cells, so lately I have been watching movies with the French subtitle option. It appears the DVD player I got can translate any movie into French somehow.

I think the main thing that we learned from the thread here, is that heaven or god may exist in the innerspace dimension. This could be the reason why scientists have been unable to determine that god exists. As soon as we figure out where interspace is and hear the word of god to make the corrections in our bible, then I will stop watching movies with French subtitles. God would then heal my blood and make me stronger, but until then, au revoir...

I've heard similar theories before, and don't pass it as true or untrue. I don't believe in one almighty "god", I'm more likely to believe in a bunch of gods, as the romans, greeks and wiccans.

Listen up you ningnongs:

1. Evolution is random

There seems to be no more design in the variability of organic beings and in the action of natural selection, than in the course which the wind blows.
—Charles Darwin.

2. Since the 1980s our understanding of our own origins has been up-ended. Far from being a separate branch with a long and unique evolutionary history, the human lineage is deeply embedded in the great ape family; and more than that within the African great ape clade. The molecular evidence unequivocally demonstrates that we are really just chimpanzees gone mad. We split from the chimpanzee only five to seven million years ago. So far from being cousins, the chimpanzees are—taxonomically speaking—in reality our sister species.

3. The first members of our own genus, Homo erectus, hove into view around two million years ago.

4.Intelligent design is just a new word for creationism.

Aliens theories drown and overwhelm the topic of the origins of man in bullshit. And Ishta knows it!

Miz - you're right to suggest that in immediate science or even pretty far term history, man is merely an accidental tweek in the evolutionary links...one that will probably end up destroying itself and the whole chain IMHO.

Still, it's through wild and fantastical theories, that we search and learn and discover the realities of why and how we came to be. If we had simply accepted the religion, we'd never have discovered evolution and if we accept evolution as the end of it all, then we won't dig deeper than that. All the kranks and 'crazies' that sport alien theories or creationist theories serve the purpose of driving science that much harder to prove and dig and learn.

And in the end, those that believe will always be able to believe because that's what faith is...but science will be better for it because science will have worked to prove and not just believe.

In my opinon that theory may of came from some really good drugs~~~ Yet I also believe the Bible does contrdict itself in many of its works, Yet we all have a belief in something whether it be aliens , jesus, god, the pope whatever it may be. But I use to go to church alot when young then science became more aware to me and so there is alot of possiblities as to how we got here and why . This kind of forum/debate is like Politics there will always be different opinons and beliefs so I say HEY IF SHE BELIEVES IT SO BE~~ at least she has belief in something~~~ just my opinon. and of course I could go on and on with this but it is not relivent~~ we are all different and believe differently......

Religion serves several important purposes: (1) providing coherence for the world in which we live; (2) allowing us to feel that we have greater control through prayer and rituals; (3) enforcing rules over how we should behave in society; and allowing a minority to exert political control over a community.

Science is a cultural activity and is part of the entertainment industry.

Aliens theories have no function. Aliens theories just make me want to shit glass.

well, aliens couldn't have had sex with chimps to produce us because they aren't within the same species. There is no lifeform that will ever be able to mate with us from another planet.

Miz I think we branched off from the chimps longer ago than that. On the order of 20-30 million years ago. Where are you getting your information? And your quotes are they affidavid?

I've said this before... Darwin was not against creationism.

He merely stated lilfeforms were created in changeable forms.

The whole idea of perfection comes into play, something none of you believe in. Evolution is a process were we in each every passing generation we get closer to perfection, or other animals as well.

I know these are all side topics of this topic, but in order to make sense of the flow we have to get our facts straight.

Did anyone ever figure out who recanted was it Darwin or Galileo?

it was actually a change in climate which caused the jungles of Africa to recede into savanna. When the apes came down from the trees, they were knuckle walkers, like the gorilla and the Chimp. The reason why bipedalism arose is because primates that stayed down couldn't see over the tall grass back then, so they stood for moments and then went back to their knuckle walking ways. Prarie dogs I think always have one member of the group stand up and keep watch for a predator. KNuckle walkers prolly did the same, but ultimately, the ones who stood up the most survived, which led to bipedalism and painful births with bigger heads, or out from them came humans, the theory goes.

Chimps today are semi bipedal, and semi knuckle walkers.

The aspect of stereoscopic 3-D vision wsa of course naturally selected for as well, there is no depth perception for a being with an eye on each side of the head, as a bird will twist its head around to get a bearing. We don't have to do that. With the jungle receding because of the weather, the challenge became to see and focus on further and further away distances, that is why we see so well.

So, this whole process how humans came out of the great apes was caused by environmental factors. Change in the weather started evolution.

Miz - Sometimes I think I know where you're going and then sometimes I think you've got a split personality. Am I correct that you believe in the biblical truth but with science as a further truth or that you don't believe in the biblical truth because science disproves it (for you)? And while thinking about aliens makes you want to "shit glass", does that mean you don't believe in them at all or simply don't believe they had anything to do with our creation/evolution?

(sidebar - the cult was Heaven's Gate that believed if they all killed themselves their spirits would get a ride from aliens on the Hale-Bopp Comet)

What did we learn on this thread. Belief systems are too ingrained to be bounced. Believe what you want. BUt Jesus was no alien, but God is out there man, so far away, God might as well be an alien to us, and if it is an alien, then his son Jesus would be half alien too.

if you move your hand back and forth, you can feel the air

if something can not be sensed with any of the senses, then you are right, it might not be

I think the reason why this thread has not been closed is because, although the posters have made statements that threaten other people's belief systems, they have learned how to word things so that people aren't infuriated. We have had so many great threads RIA'd because of people (Ishta) posting things that get under the skin of others. Even she has learned to posit a theory without being confrontational. Geez I miss those days. I like ideas to threaten and challenge me.

I am not saying that I am lying when I say I wish I believed in god, or the values of belief has on the body (immune system) or that perhaps the reason why we cannot sense god is because god and heaven might be in the interspace innerspace dimension.

They used to call air ether. It is etherial, in the ether, the atmosphere. I think it came from the greek.

The idea that Christ was taken to a spiritual leader from 12 to 30 is incorrect. A set of texts called the Apocrypha contains, or at least is said to contain, factual information about Christ during those "lost years". Many of those years have to do with nothing more than Mary and Joseph's other children and Christ's studies, and mission work.
The Apocrypha refer to texts which are left out of officially sanctioned versions ('canon') of the Bible. The term means 'things hidden away,' which implies secret or esoteric literature. However, none of these texts were ever considered secret.

In some Protestant Bibles, they are placed between the New and Old Testament. In the Roman Catholic Bibles the books are interspersed with the rest of the text. In this case they are also called 'Deuterocanonical', which means 'secondary canon.' The books on this page are all Deuterocanonical.
The apocrypha have been variously included and omitted from bibles over the course of the centuries.

I dont mind talkin' about religion or readin' about for that matter.i love it.I like the idea of new ideas or discoveries but this is umm a bit out there for what i'm used to.lol.I'm not talkin shit or offending anyone but aliens?I believe thats a first for me.I'm an old fashion gal who believes that God yes is complex but he is all powerful. He created all.He doesn't have to wow us with cute little parlor tricks.I also don't believe that Jesus is God.Jesus was a man.God is EXISTANCE.There r 3 things I believe God cant do even though he the most powerful being of all.
1.)He can't lie
2.)He can't die
3.)He can't fail.
God doesnt need us to believe in him.We need to believe in.Just b/c we're goths, vamps, even witches doesn't me we can't possibly believe in him even love him.

i think it's a great theory. And anything is possible but it is only a theory. There is no fact. No evidence. Now i will never disrespect any one's religion. Becasue i hate it when people do that to me. So i say to your friend that it is great she expresses herself so freely and to keep it up.

the vast majority of things in this thread I have heard in many conversations over several years. when it comes down to it the theory presented cant be disproven until evidence is found that is difinitive. likewise it also cant be proven. as for the other tangents I have always said get us off this damn mudball so that we at least have some chance to survive more than another 800 thousand to 80 million years.
granted that seems like a long time(and a big gap) but one thing is certain the sun will go dark or huge and everything here will either be frozen or barbequed.

In the longrun, the progress toward any answers of where we come from will be in the blood, sweat, and the tears...in the never-ending pursuit of the "truth".

Being a science geek and someone who's never really been impressed or swayed by religion, I've always questioned "the creation". Have I personally come up with any answers? No. Not to date. Will I? Who knows?

I don't even know if there IS a God. Perhaps this "god" is simply a creation of humanity for their own security, to fulfill a need to follow a higher being. Man, for the most part, is not an independent entity and needs an overall "leader" to follow.

Aliens? Eh. I doubt it. I have no alternative theories to offer at this time, however.

I find that theory interesting, but, all in all, I just like to hear different things. That theory tickles my mind and what's a world without different opinions/theories? No fun.
