i recently read a thread regarding if spirits contact us. well i can tell You i am a medium. i sense spirits and see them.. talk to them and oddly enough i know how and when they died in a split moment. i donno if this is normal but having experienced what i have i know it is true.. sounds .. my name being called seeing someone i know or sometimes i dont. its always an adventure and seeing animals is not uncommon.. to see something move on its own.. without methods..well its a sight to behold. so what about Your experiences.. what "paranormal" thoughts and felings have You had?

Interesting claims. I can imagine how angry it must make you that people have tv shows with 20 page long release forms and cold read the bereaved and lie to the world. Sadly that is the image I get when I see the word "medium"


I personally don't believe ive had any experiences with what you speak of, though I wish sometimes I could be proven wrong, I just don't see that though. So far ive been able to easily write off most happenings by keeping a level head and using simple deduction. Hope I get one someday that isn't so damn simple to explain. I think the "real" paranormal things happen very rarely if at all. As opposed to all the time everyday everywhere, there just isn't anything to back that up besides peoples beliefs.

It is quite normal. I also have those abilities, I just believe that you shouldn't screw with surtain spirits.

I have seen ghosts myself. I have never been spoken to by them, although I am clairvoiant. Yes, I do believe however that spirits can contact us and vice-versa.

I've only seen one or two. But That's it.

I've felt spirits all my life. I see them less often. There is one that I know is always around me no matter where I've moved. He's never done anything threatning, but it used to freak me out to see this dark man standing there watching me. His presence is so strong that people that have come to visit me have had run ins with him.
Also, I used to work nights in this mental hospital that was built in the 1800's. There was a cemetary on the grounds and the building where I worked used to be the morgue. There was LOTS of freaky stuff that happened there. Even people who didn't believe in spirits ended up believing after working there.

I belive in spirits and spirit guides. I have felt things and seen things. Being native we beleive this and beleive they come to guide us and give us the answers we need on the road of life. There are messages and answers all around us if we just open our eyes.

I believe in spirits yes. For me, I can sense them...but I cannot see or hear them.

I know my animals(cats)..see somthing in my house all the time.I tried to get at there level on the floor,to see if I can see them too.Once I did.It was a blackish fog thing on the cealing.hmm?

Ya know that does trip me out too! when animals or even babies follow things with there eyes and you cant see anything but it really caught there attention.

i have had many experiances good and bad..and agian.. it is very educating to accept it then to accually say its not true.. at times i believe that they will seek ppl like myself and all out.. almost as if they want to contact us.. be it unfinished business or a wrong doing.. i used to live behind a graveyard and then again a few yrs later on a place that was considered cemertary hill.. so i have tried to tune it (the "tallent" )better. any sugestions to strengthen it?

i am not a medium i have other very powerfull psychic abilities but i have had a spirit contact me in my dreams and i have had them try to talk to me face to face but i have trouble hearing them sometimes.

I was raised under a shamanistic upbringing... my people (the Hmong) are firm believers in spirits.. we have individual spirits guarding us and our homes. As well as spirits that roam (ghost-like)- all of these may or may not contact "us"

I do not have the sight, but I have seen some amazing things when the shamans are at work-being able to go into the otherworld and negotiate with these spirits and "cure" illnesses, etc. to having an ill person dream of speaking/interacting with these spirits and then being able to the next day retrace their steps of the 5 or so mile walk detailing broken tree-limbs, etc..

lets just say, that is why though I married outside my community, I cant and wont walk away from the religion I grew up with

I would have to say that yes spirits do visit. I won't talk about my own experiences, but can and will say that some spirits want to communicate, with the other side, while others just seem to want to be left alone.

I've only had a few sight and hearing experiences , objects moving voices and those damn footsteps when I would lie in bed and hear them down the passage...

It makes me sad that so many people have had their 6th sense turned off by parents, schools, church leaders, spouse, family members, governments, media etc. It is a fear-based scenerio. It is much easier for someone to say Oh, I just imagined it, or you need stronger meds..(lol) than to believe in things they cannot see. It is frightening if you dont understand...you should watch a gas stove turn on all four burners "by itself" its a hoot..or watch a little girl in a red rain coat stroll through your living room...I could go on and on...and no, I'm not on nor do I need meds. Well when youre a kid and you kno what you can do its ok. I never was afraid of any of the gifts. Although when i reached 18 its been getting insane and my gifts are turning out like a curse. I can sence what people and spirits feel. The power of sympothy I see spirits and they tend to klind to me to drain my life essence but its easy to ward them off. When a spirit walks trhough me I get the flash of there life and the way they died in an instant. Enough to kno that most of them ive come across are very alone and depressed and died a bad way and have had a bad life when they lived. When they walk through me I start torandomly cry and I get filled with sorrow and sadness. When people are sad I kno becouse i feel it too. the bad thing about feeling other peoples emotions though is for everyday that goes bye my power grows and I pick up things easier and it hurts to kno how much other people feel around you i meen like if someone is depressed. any questions contact me. ~Julius~

Thank You Kytrin for what you said. Ya know I have heard of people doing studies on "gifted" children. Im usig that word because its there term. Anyways from being born they arent told they cant do curtain things or the word thats impossible isnt told to them and its amazing how much more of there minds there using and how much more information is being ingested. See thats when allot of things are turned off when there is all these outside resources say you cant or its impossible.

I've had many experiences, to much so to say that they don't exist. I'm not a medium, but I guess I'm what u would call sensitive to the spirits that haven't past on to the next plain. Like my sis BT being native we practice talking to our ancestors for guidance

I think I have always felt them! I've only seen them a few times! Although I recently started working at a hospital & it seems now pretty often I think I see different people! I have always as far back as I can remember had at least one that was always with me! I've grown used to it over the years, & if they weren't there, I think I would miss it! Kinda gives me a safe, never alone feeling!

Spirits are indeed able to contact us. I've seen a few old friends no longer among the living. However, I was in a wreck and was in considerable pain at that time, so it could have been a hallucination.

I can't consider myself like a medium, but in occasions, I feel somethings, and saw people that in one second dissapear, I also hear sounds, and in other occasion hear my name too, time ago I had a girlfriend that saw spirit, and she always be scared, because she saw them anywhere, in her house, in the movies, anywhere, so I believe that the spirits sorrunds us...

Really dont know how to explain what happen's to me will try the best i can without sounding stupid....i see event's before they happen but dont recall them until they actually happen and when they do it is like i know everything down to the movement's and all it's weird but happen's to me alot ... and this all started when parent's were killed in accident by drunk driver so i think it's them trying to prewarn me of thing's ..i dont know but i like it at times and other times it freak's me out...so yes i have strong belief in spirit's contacting us....

I didn't really get into this when I first responded to this post. Again, I feel that some spirits do try to contact us, while others just simply want to be left alone. Myself, I am always seeing or feeling spirits. I kind of feel like it is a barometer. I can't walk to any place or building without either having a good feeling or a bad feeling. For example, when my wife and I were house hunting in MN, it would only take a few seconds for me to know if I would be comfortable in a home after I walked in. There was one house in particular, that opon our first walk through, seemed very peaceful, and quiet, and only seemed like the spirits there were comfortable with me. But when we tried to do a walk through a second time, the front door would not unlock, and when I went to the backdoor to try the look, I got the most unconfortable feeling (like I was being challanged) and could see a hazy spirit walking toward the backdoor.

I guess the bottom line really is, spirits are out there everywhere, and most people don't notice them because they either don't have the sight or are otherwise not inclined.

If I have/had any "abilities," they've long been suppressed by my logical, more scientific side.

I can feel the presence of a spirit,and can understand at times why they are back,what they need to do before they can Rest In Peace..

Right after my dad died, I had a dream about him, where he was all telling me that I shouldn't be sorry for what I've done wrong and that he loves me and that to tell the family not to worry because he's watching out for us. It was kind of freaky but it made me feel better.

Does anyone have proof they can offer? I’m trying not to be cynical as it would be fun to make jokes about needing to add spirits to my family talk plan and asking how much it would cost to add a “ghost line” to my cell plan but seriously…

How are people communication with the spirits and they back? Is it all mental, hearing voices in the head? Is it a gut feeling, a sixth sense? Etc.

Do you have recordings of conversations, footage of sightings?…

Again being serious, I too have had occurrences and feelings mainly as a child but it’s hard to honestly say it was a spirit or ghost. I have no proof and nothing that can explain the events either so I do not label myself as anything but a critic. I’m not flaming anyone either but it’s annoying to hear talk about mediums when none of them can offer any proof or support for their claims. Even TV stars have been debunked and proven to use micro phones and that they received information about folks in the crowd from a control room that did research and background checks or used social engineering to get info.

It’s hard to seriously evaluate this type of occurrence with out proof or at least a more in-depth definition from those that claim to be mediums. Would any of you care to post an article on the site detailing how the process functions for you and define your results in detail?

Have any of you mediums out there done any blind testing to where your contact results where duplicated to a measurable degree by other mediums doing similar tests?

How do you honestly know you are gifted and communicating with spirits and don’t simple say because I am, give details and explain.

Many cultures and societies claim to have these abilities but they also use herbs and other drugs that directly and measurably affect the brain and are proven to cause both audio and visual hallucinations. What are you using, anything? Are your gifts real? How?

Again, serious questions, not flaming any one.

I have seen a few ghost before. Some were people that I know that have died and some were people that I have never seen before.

I don't "see" or "hear" anything from spirits....wouldn't always mind the ability, though. I talk to my departed loved ones, and sometimes it seems they answer, even if only through a feeling I get. Sometimes I'll read something - maybe in a newspaper, book, or online - that is just about the same thing I was talking to one of them about. It's usually my Daddy. He's been gone a long time, and I miss him and talk to him a lot. I don't expect answers, but sometimes I feel like I get them, anyway.

I too sense spirits and I often wonder why me?

Hadda come and post this cause was just in here talking about this....last night as i was going to bed i kept hearing noise's like a fan going and i have central air and haven't had it on really much as it been cold...anyway i just thought it was something comming from somewhere nearby so i shook it off... I was woken up at 2:30 by something i just sat upright in bed and could feel someone was in my room with me ....i looked around and could see an impression of someone sitting on my bed .... i didn't move for a few min's it was like i was in a trance scared but yet curious as to who it was ...i don't fear ghost's as i have had stuff happen throughout my life that it seem's normal to me to have them around...the presence only stayed for like few min's after i awoke ....i just knew it was gone ....and i felt where it was sitting on my bed it was warm ...i believe it was my mother she seems' to come to me alot more then my dad....well just wanted to share this it blew my mind....

A very dear friend of mine's mother died, and about 3 days later she decided to use me to sed a message to her son. It was rather akward, as I had never met let alone seen what this woman looked like till her funeral the following tuesday (she passed that past thursday).

She 'followed' me around every so often till he graduated-- that being the last thing she wanted to do to give herself comfort of sorts, and it was a stranger, but comforting thing to do for the two of them.

He never told his father what had happened, or that I had messages every so often for them. He's just say he had 'dreams' and relayed the emssages to him in that manner.

I have long wished to experience some of the things you describe. I am still learning about my spiritual energy and how to progress in my knowledge and abilities to use my energy. I do believe that spirits choose to come back to tell us things we should know or help us in some way.

I always wonder if it's just my imagination telling me what I want to hear/know. I truly FEEL as if the ones I've loved and lost can communicate without even a word, but still, I was taught very well to doubt myself!

nthaniel, I know how that is. Sometimes I get the feeling that I am being watched and what not. I know that I feel as though someone is biting me and always with me, and I know who that person is lol

I go to a Spiritualist church, there are many mediumns, and those who have dreams that come true. Our loved ones that pass over are with us to guide us and to watch. I could tell you some many stories, but i will share one i was lying in my bed wide awake. There was family members walking up the steps because I could hear them talking. My bedroom door was shut, I felt the weight of the bed and a cold chill went up my spine. The next day i was told my mother passed over. I have a friend who is psychic and he helps the police find missing children. I will also suggest a good place to go for mediums and that is Lilydale NY. I think they have people in June and July. Only mediumns can own land or live there. No tarot No runes. They are put thru a tuff test, only three out of thirteen applications got to be able to live there. It is over 100 acres. But I do believe we all have the 6th sense, we just lost it growing up because our mind became cluttered.

about 4 years ago i lived in a very old housewith my parents we were told that the prevouse owners were old and had past away
not thinking to much into it i caried on with my day to day life
on one perticular daywhile studying for afinal exami could faintly hear voices coming from the kitchen knowing full well that there was nobodyhome but i thought well shit my mom and dad might have come home eary
when i walked into the kitchen i saw an elderly couple sitting at an old style table
they had both looked up at me and said hello
i was kind of shocked but said hello neway and as fast as saw them they were gone
i seen them a couple of times after that but my mother andfather moved since then so i have not seen them in 2 years

I argree with mysticwinds,,,, we knew many secrets when we were children but during the process we have had many things instilled into us as to discourage that kind of thing. As she has said already our minds have become cluttered. I am currently checking into past life regression therapy which I have been reading about, I have the first book I read about it listed on my profile, If you are interested in those things I strongly suggest reading the book,,,, It opened my eyes to a whole new world of possibilities that were never tought to me growing up.

Had another occurence ...last night my dog wa pacing constantly around area of cellar....and once in awhile he would stop and growl at door ....I knew it was a presence of someone there so just let him be ....when my man came over from work I told him to go check the cellar to just make sure everything was ok ....he was down there for a bit came out finally face white as can be and said ok you have a ghost ya know i said yeah i know but why you say that ...he said there is wet footprint's on step's and nothing been touched down there no gained entry or nothing so it has to be ...I just laughed cause i knew it was my dad ... And not only was there the wet footprint's a box that i had marked that had family album's in it was up on tooltable opened ....giggles

I believe in spirits, tho I do not think I see or hear them. As a bit of an empath and psychic vamp, I sometimes think that I can "feel" them tho.

It's not normal for me to see spirits and such but once my cousin was up and we slept in the basement and next thing you know she was waking me up the next morning and pointing at a figure that looked like my uncle who was reading a newspaper on his favorite chair in the basement which was were he stayed when he came up. She thought that it was some old burglar guy but I said that it looked like our uncle and that he had died 4 years ago, then she screamed, then he sort of... disappeared. Sort of like he dissipated or dissolved as if he was fog or something. Very odd.

many people have some ablity or another I myself have dreams of the future. I nver kno wwhen i will think to myself i should have known that was coming. But I have not yet gained the wisdom as other so about their gifts.

I believe and have felt spiritual entities, but I have also felt and experienced energy left behind by previous occupants.... like getting into a car and having the image slam your mind of a horror accident... or walking into a house and feeling anger and pain... stuff like that, I think what is important is learning to tell the difference between spiritual entities and residual energy!

My first experience with this sort of thing was when I was sitting by my pond and I saw a girl with blonde curls in a blue menonite dress. She was watching the water. I immediately thought something was strange because a girl of twelve surely wouldn't trespass on my property out in the country late at night on the fourth of july just to look at the surface of the pond. She told me her name was Anna. I don;t know how I thought of it, but I asked her if she was suffering purgatory. When I voiced my question, she went into convulsions and jerked in a freaky way. I prayed for the release of her soul, and she stopped shaking. Then she started to drift away above the pond in a dim light. Since then, there was a set of twins, a goth preteen girl, a young lady, and some zachariah- but he couldn't be older than seventeen. All came out to my property. I set them all free- but some took a bit more work than just a prayer. I might put detailed accounts of these in my journal. These were just the suffering ones. The ones I can call arn't suffering and will help me when I need it. I refer to them as saints. Once I even got Pope John Paul II recently after his death. But that was at church- not my house.

I had a dream a while ago, a freind who deceased a few years ago, was in my dream. We were in a cave and i could smell rot, and very unpleasant odors at that. in my dream we were talking, and i could'nt hear him. I seen our mouths move in conversation tho. The next day a friend of mine phoned, to tell me her sister was shot in the back of the head, then they rolled her up in a smelly carpet and tried to burn her. They left her to burn, but it really did'nt catch, the smell was so bad the funeral director said he could not take her body, because he did'nt want the smell through his funeral home.

Sense my father has been sick I have been having these dreams of loved ones who have passed coming to me and helping me deal with this situation. I have also had dreams that take place in the near future and Im trying to find out if its telling me something.

I guess my question would have to be in regards to this, why would information from the spirits that are allegedly coming back to talk to folks be any more accurate than what they knew and were biased in when alive?

Because they die folks figure that these things are now omniscient?

Yes i have had contact with spirits in the past some have been pleasant others have been a nightmare now days I try to keep that side of me closed.

I do believe that you can and often do come in contact with spirits. Though one must be careful on what is contacted. no all spiritual contact is good or well intented.

Being empathic i think it helps me sense things. Although I have never seen an apparition, I have sensed when I wasn't alone. If I was being contacted, maybe my skills just haven't developed enough to understand

I believe that when need be spirits do contacts us.. in some way they do what they must to get our attention. THis i do believe. And as for us contacting them, as others have said it happens.. some make money from their gift while others do not. How you use yoru gift is up to the individual..
I have had the feelings of not being alone and movement of things and sensing someone who cannot be seen.. sometimes it is pkeasant and at other times i am alarmed and sometimes have a sense of fear...

I have seen a few, even though I have never had the ability to talk to them, that would be a very interesting thing to be able to do though, I am very envious of those that have that ability

spirits contacting the living is not at all uncommon where i live. we have people who fight the spirits and i'm one of those people so seeing, hearing, touching, felling, and attacking theose who attack others are skills theat i have been developing since i was about 12 but i was started my training in this field at about 5 being trained by my grandmother who at the time was dead for 4 years already so yeah. i know many of you will say i'm crazy for what i just wrote but that's the way my life is.

seeing them is normal for me. In fact if I don't see them anytime I leave my home I tend to get very worried as to what is blocking that. Yet hearing them will freak me out as this is somethign that has only been happening the last year or so. So for me its still a learning curve.

I have only seen two different spirits at two different times in different places and have felt thier presence, i.e. raapid drop in temerature, hair on neck standing on end, the feeling of someone watching you, etc., but have never been able to actually communicate with them. I wish I could, though. Hopefully that gift will appear later.

I am a dreamer, as I have used to make points in other threads. For instance, I have reoccuring dreams in which "ghosts" reappear attempt to get something through, though I have not figured out how translate what is actually happening.

There is one dream that bothers me, perhaps someone could shed some light on it?

I am in a room alone, outside the room is a social gathering I am supposed to be a part of. Then, a wall starts to whirl and a hooded figure appears through this, portal I guess one could call it. When it is present, I cannot scream or breath. There is an absolute sense of terror whenever it is present and because I can't make a sound, no one ever comes to my aid. I always wake up breathless and in a cold sweat.

I have seen apparitions before; however, that is the extent of it. I have yet to communicate with any.

I have had a few experiences with spirits, i can sence, feel and see them, but only if i am fully conciosuly aware of my surroundings

its not unheard of thats for sure, these abilities are passed down in my native family for generations, ever since i been born ive been able to see them and not only just that.
In fact most of my best and or close friends are those whom i go to hang out with in cemetries or other places. yes sometimes there are ones that arent easily ones to get along with but for those whom are good, im happy to have as trustworthy friends.

and my friend was saying things that they didnt know bout me and his face was starting to change in to my grandfathers features and i feel him all the time

About two years ago I had a dream that i was in my fiends car on the way to school and as we pulled into the lot a bus hit the car and we died. Well i woke up at this point and thought that it was a weird dream, but realized i was supposed to ride with my friend that day! Well i called him and said i would take the bus and explained my dream to him, he said i was overreacting. The bus got to school but as we got into the lot we hit a car. Needless to say it was my friends car and he was dead. It was the creepiest thing i ever had happen to me. That was one of many things but by far the saddest.

I to am a medium. I have had many expieriances of my own. I have learned to block out things better now though. My husband has even learned to ask me questions and write things down now because of it all. I had one expieriance that I dont like to give detail out to anyone but friends, but the jist is this... I ended up with the daughter of a well known person talking to me.. my husband wrote things down and we later ended up with a book about the girls death. I have not read the book and I refuse to. I know how the poor girl died and so forth and so on. I know that was very vague, and I apologize, but I just feel that I dont like to share the details of that situation unless it is one on one or amongst friends. I remember being a small child and having spirits talk to me as well.

I have very many grumpy spirits in my house some follow me from other peoples houses and stay at mine.

I have seen spirits and I have talked with them as though they were alive and I could reach out and touch them. Some I knew some I didnt but read about later. One even came into my room sat herself down on my bed and talked for hours about her life.

Sometimes I sense things such as danger.
One time I din't go right away at after a light turned green like I usually do.

I don't know why but I just felt apprehensive...The car behind me honked and then like a second later a dumptruck ran the red light. Anyways I jumped out of my car and bowed to the car behind me and the lady waved and lipped Im sorry.

i like these kinds of experiences. i have had bad ones though, i have been possesed and i did bad things.

While I haven't seen any spirits, I have had an interesting encounter very recently. Last week for about 3 periods of my school day, I was followed by a strange organ music that no body else could hear. The wierdest part was a few nights before that I remember a "dream" where I heard the same style of music accompanied by a stange shadow while sitting in my bed.

I have seen ghosts and/or spirits...some that are not so disturbing but then again others that are very uneasy.... is there a message from them all.. no i think they just want you to know they are there.

I've seen, heard and been touched by spirits, in my mothers house. And I had other people say the same thing.

everyone i work with swears our workplace is haunted. the local fire department is thought to be haunted too, my sister has seen a little boy looking out a window, and when she approached him, he vanished

I have seen and talk to spirits too.
they are always around us some of us can see them if we let our selfs.

I was from a very young age able to see and interact with spirits.. learning to hear them of late.. not something I am enjoying lol. But for a very long time I assumed everyone did these things. Its still hard for me to believe at times that its not. I have also noticed that people that spend tiem with me.. either in my home or connected to me somehow tend to .. for good or bad.. have an increase in abilities. Some are happy about this. others want to shot me lol.

There was this one night when I was sleeping. This was about 4 years a ago. My ex was sitting next to me reading a book and she said I just sat up out of a dead sleep and said some weird words and fell back to sleep. She told me the next morning it was like I was a different person. Like someone took over my boby.

I've had experience of the paranormal but just a couple. I have seen my godmother in my hallway like 5 months ago. She died in 1995. I've also seen people in my stairway and when I turn back they are not there anymore. I haven't spoken to any spirits or ghosts. I would love to though.

Now I've never talked to any . but I have seen and felt them. A week after my mom died I was laying in her bed . A strange sensation over whelmed me so I moved to my dads. After a few seconds , I heard a noise like someone sat on the bed. When I looked over there was an impression of someone sitting. When i told it to please go away the impression vanished.

im a psi vampire aka empathec yes i believe and 2 i have experienced some of the things you have it is a freat gift and make it great use, sometimes if u dont want to use it its not always easily controlled..

I have seen some pretty interesting things.. But I hear someone not sure who or why calling my name... And it is not scary, but calming in a sense... I also feel alot like i am being watched, even when I am alone in the house. Not sure how to explain that one. Several times at night my husband and I have heard children laughing and a baby in the front room.
