I came across the following statement when I was reading websites about Vampires and wanted to see how many of you agree with this theory.
"Vampirism is the ultimate
addiction. Once you're a vampire, all you need is one fix a day. You
don't need human contact, warmth, communication, quibbling on Anglican,
anything. Just that one hit a day."
Do you not acquire contact with others or are they only for you to feed upon?
well my opinon is that it is totally crazy to believe such, I mean come on how are you going to even get donars unless you mingle and find them ... Kinda crazy to just remain inside unless your argophobia( afraid of the outside ) It just sounds weird to me. my opinon is all. :)
i totally agree with you. i think we all need contact with others.
but the person whom wrote this claims to be an vampire and states that this is how they live and all should live. It was a hard thing for me to imagine to walk upon this earth w/o contact of others.
well then this person who claims to be a vampire is very mistaken cause if that was the fact then how do clans come about if they do not mingle amongst themselves, think about it hell if this was the fact then he has no contact with his own is what he is saying LOL! ok sure whatever..... I just do not believe it sorry and if he does live in such a manner then he is very strange indeed.. LOL!
I dunno, I am not a vampire anymore, but maybe there are some things I have to do to make the transition back to being a man. But I really don't care DeadTruth, I am tired of feeding, maybe the transition between vampire physiology back to human there is 1 requirement a day to do, but this rag doll is too tired to give it the old college try. I need to rest eternally.
Interesting question Mid..
Human contact is vital at least for me and not only as a feeding tool hell I feed more effectively off other vamps then humans but I enjoy people I am social after all.
I don't find this a selfish thing at all unless were all that selfish....
and more sacrifices are demanded? I am not the least bit selfish. This isn't about me though, but one vampire ghost giving us a message of what we need to do to survive in powerful forms.... it must be considered.
Look I have given enough to God for the benefit of mankind, but I am basically out of spunk, a fix a day requirement doesn't sound so bad, if I could only get rid of all these inadequacy issues.
One fix a day? That seems a bit too much for me. I stay in as much as possible, and only go out when in need. I think it would mainly be based on ones desire or needs. Some require less than others because they have learned over the years to control.
I find this silly. In no way is this a good definition of how I live. However, I could see how it would fit for others. We have all heard the proclaimations of those that say they need it to survive. I will make a safe guess and say that there are some that will avoid all contact, sit idle 'til that daily chance to feed, only to repeat the process the next day.
i would take this in a sense of undead vampires, as mortal human vampires to me is something you dont need, but as the undead feed to survive by blood what reason would you actually need humans for? they would be like cattle to men
as noone has ever showed me anything of this psy vampirism, and i dont believe it to be nothing but an illusion
well, if ya gotta feed once a day and it has to happen inside, then masogyny is not vampire related.
Thanks for starting the thread, turning gods into dogs is equaly as important as turning dogs into gods.
Hey Mid...I agree with you.....I know i long for my Dragons touch to feel him and hold him close to lie in his arms and feel him breath ......i don't think i know anyone who doesn't crave that
I think it's necessary for ALL creatures to make connections in order to survive. Whether it's friendship or for some other reason, searching for contact with other creatures is instinct, and I doubt that even vampires can go without it.
as far as I have come to know, dragons traditionally were the things that keep women in dungeons.
That is why they are traditionally slain.
Sounds like this person is again thinking in the "Hollywood" style vampire. Only very rare people can survive and flourish without interaction with other humans. We need each other for more than feeding. The sharing of intelligent conversation and simple human caring are a necessary part of daily life in my opinion. Yes I believe vampires are still humans too.
Well the misogyny aspect is the fear of marriage not hating women, look it up.
About the Dragon issue, yeah, get in the crib (ghetto definition) and keep your woman inside the traditional dungeon. So what I am saying is, you gotta be home, according to the definiton of the thread, and get your fix on your concubine, but I gotta go to a basketball game, so, maybe I shouldn't go, but if I don't make tonights game then I don't get to play in the playoffs, so I guess I will have to feed on some poor girl on the subway underground no one will hear her scream.
No matter what some of us would like to have people think, we're all human on this site. Humans thrive on social communication, contact and basically being around others. OK, there are some individuals who dislike or even loathe any kind of contact with others, but being a recluse except at mealtimes is not a necessary trait of a vampire!
This is totally up to each individuals.
Let them say whatever they would like to
speak of while they are living a life.
It is possible to live out there jungles
to feed off animals but that wont work for
long time,we need human's anyway.
Oh yes, place where the souls after they left over their flesh going one way straight same line for all!
Hahahahaha, lets keep having fun shall we?
Hahahahahahahaha.
Well I am a total social butterfly and feed off ones energy. I would have to be around people or I would go stir crazy. Ok even if I sucked blood I would have to find donors and no not just anyone would do. Ya must play it safe. This idea of issolation would make anyone go mad.
the donor route to me isnt something that i could deal with...when one needs to feed, they need to feed....when one is craving and in need they dont have the time and must feed upon the prey that is found
I myself am antisocial to a degree. with the friends i have im just my normal self, but i dont tend to talk to anyone else at all. and im not to into making new friends, though i do welcome it with open arms im doing just great witht he friends i have and know who i can and cant trust. so pretty much im not very social with new people until im absolutely sure i can trust them.
In my opinion we as humans do not need social or any kinda of contact with others to survive. A person can become a total reclusive & still live many years, just like the ones that are social. A vampire would have to feed. So yes I think they could very easily be a recluse except at mealtimes. Just like humans, vampires have different traits, personalities, so why not, some probably are reclusive!
living the vampire lifestyle you may need to feed once or many times aday depending on the individual person. But everyone needs human contact in thier life or they start to go a little insane. So I do not believe that.
I can see this working if the person was antisocial or had the phobia of being outside. Otherwise, human contact is important to us all..... just do not agree with that person at all.
This comes across as another comment about the stereotypical vampire to me.
While, I guess, some may feel that they need a "hit" or so a day, I dont feel it speaks for the majority.
Everyone requires human contact. For me, I think that vampires require it more as other "humans" provide our source of "food" as it were to satiate the hunger for at least a little while
It sounds like the story book version of a vampire to me. There are a few stories I've come across where the author uses vampires as a metaphor for one addiction or another. *shrug*
Show me a person who doesn't need some form of social contact, and I'll show you a person who either should be in, or is in, a mental institution.
In my own experience, I've never come across a person who is centered and sane who could live without any contact with others.
A creature of the night, becomes very lonely and must protect him/herself against those that which to do it harm. Thus, most believe we do not wish to have company, however our existence is a very quiet one and we long for interaction with others similar to our self. We desire even more for a dark lover to spend eternity with and will do anything to find this person and everything to hold onto our lover once we have been united.
well the need for it really depends on the individual doesnt it
most humans are social and need social interaction on some level
we form our ideas about the world through social contact, our personalities, language skills etc. without socialization were handicapped..
Sounds like what you have read is the ultimate stereotype for our kind. We are social beings, and those with antisocial thoughts and behaviors are not made that way because they are vampires. As for VR, I revel in the addiction of the site because of the interaction.
VAMPARIAH your analogies are amazing. I enjoy them quite a bit.
On the issue at hand, I am curious to what site this was on. They must be living in a nice fantasy world. A statment that reminds me of someone that wants to escape reality all together instead of discovering it.
We might think we dont need the contact of others but deep down inside we need this contact regardless cause it what makes us able to know how precious life is and also to apreciate everyday, the human contact is waht gives us the streinght and will to go on.
I have a few donors & need more than just "1 fix." I am not a very social individual but i have to remember that i need to interact with others. It helps to a lot to interact & strike up intelligent conversation with others on occasions.
I like to get contact...for me it just works..and it can be as simple as talking to somone face to face, or over the phone..
simple contact..it can help in the simplist of ways..
I don't like that statment. I mean, I'm a loner, so I don't NEED human contact all that much, but even so...I still want to love, be loved, talk, and be with people. I'm a vampire...so...that statement just seems so wrong.
The comment sounds quite childish, unless on is a sociopath and just hates contact of any kind.
To believe all are alike is ridiculous, vampires yes...individuals of course! We have different needs, different desires, differents passions, different beliefs! It is what makes us unique and is not something to be lobbed in one catagory. The statement is utter rubbish.
this psychic vampire, while recovering from depression isolated from anyone, discovered he could sustain himself by drawing life from the world around him...it works just as well, and we can be isolated if we choose, but why do so?
I believe everyone needs human contact. We are human creatures and for some we choose isolation but even in isolation we do have some human contact.
One just limits themselves to who, how many and when.
Human beings thrive on the nurture of others good, bad or indifferent.
All creatures need something. It's just how the foodchain works.... I think all things interact... That's nature.... It's like giving up drugs...you always need it.... besides it's in their nature to HUNT humans.... I think whoever said that is full of crap....
Vampires aren't so different from humans in the end.We all need a variety of things to survive, and want to survive. Were not heroin addicts :P Well, not all of us anyways lol.
ive never really thought of it that way, but yes i do come into contact with others basically to get what i need, not that i dont enjoy the company of a select few.....but i dont think i need to be around anybody except for my bodily needs, not so much needs along the line of emotion
I believe in contact, in interacting with human beings...without that, your nature is on display, your actions are looked upon with mistrust and anger, you are put on display and will not have a very good life afterwards...
Just "one hit a day" is a pure nonsense...Is not a drug, is a way of live, manifested in so many ways and with so many features, that "once a day" applies only to the weak and untrained...
Well,
Not Selfish.
Some people/Vampires
Prefer to be Alone.
But I say Some Vampires Long to have human contact but Have no one to be in contact with.
to me its nto selfish.
~Yours In The Darkness~
I will agree that some vampires prefer to be alone, but not matter if you are psy or ang, you still need some form of human contact, either physical or emotional, in order to feed. I now a few psy vamps and even though they have been feeding for 3+ yrs, they have not developed their conscious feeding abilities enough in order to be more than 5 feet away from someone and still be able to feed. And I, being of the sanguine nature, most have contact in order to get my fix. So, I would have to say no matter what, you must have some kind of human contact regardless of your breed in order to survive.
I guess I dont understand why one would not want human contact. People are fascinating, you can learn so much from a random person off the street.
There again, it goes back to the "feeding off random people" thread. Why would you feed off someone you dont know?
*laughs slightly* okay whats the bloody point of being a vampire if your going to order your meal in at McBLOOD Donar....seriously you might as well be completely dead...you have to mingle and get donors enjoy the eternal life.
Okay, anti-social -- ahhh*waves hand* maybe maybe not since it ca be a lonely life. However, it sure makes it sound like a heroin addict; all pissy and cut off from the world. No way to live -- or unlive, for that matter.
How about a reality check
Do any of you "vampires" think you do not ned any human contact.
After you answer yes, think about the one who signs you pay check. Of course, that assumes you get one
It is all the person's own decision. Some are only here to feed on people, but some actually like to talk to others and have friends. I love my friends, I couldn't imagine life without them. I don't necessarily need human contact, but I prefer it. Life would be boring without people to talk to and do things with. Feeding isn't the only thing mortals are good for.
Interesting comments so far. I have hundreds of individuals I'm in contact with everyday. Don't think I could survive any other way.
Well the three times I was committed, I was at the end of my rope. I feared women all of them as a whole because their main purpose in life was to drain me. So I stayed away from relationships, and this brought me all signs of trouble. But denying yourself things that should be can get out of hand, it is eqivalent to the stand up comic joke going to the "physical contact" addict meetings looking to score.
I thought I would be safe if they put me in a rubber room, I tried to wiggle out of the cuffs, but they took me to a place where unfortunately there were women. One of them was a Korean girl in her 20's she had messy hair, and drab clothes, and she was totally uncommunicative, and definately anti social dysfunctional, but I liked her. I wanted to so bad slip out of my three sheet bed with the "robe', the sheets were so short you couldn't escape or do something worse it was like prison, like in an Officer and a Gentleman.
It was a nice fantasy though, safe in my head where I could include the Korean girl into my life, just for a moment, just for one night. I kinda liked that we didn't understand each other. The fact that we couldn't speak made me feel safe, I wouldn't be able to find out that her purpose was to drain my lifeforce.
I have always wanted to move to a lnad where I could exist and no one couldn't understand I know too much. Knowing is a burden, and I would prefer being a simple man.
Contact is necessary, but we have to have some control over who we let into our lives
I have to say I greatly enjoy the company of others esp. intelligent and rational people.
The fact that I partake in vampirism has little to no effect on this, unless it’s some uneducated dip who won’t take the time to let me explain. As a mater of fact in my efforts in finding my way into the vampyre community I have made new friends; some of which I hold in very high regard. They have been very informative and matter of fact.
(However this site has been (I am sorry to say) the least helpful of my resources due to an incredible amount of this loner crap)
I'm starting to question if this group has much affiliation with the vampire community... (If I am wrong in this please feel free to restore/redirect my faith in the site)
(Of course maybe I'm not high enough in the ranks to be noticed by the types I'm trying to find.)
But I'm ranting so I'll end this soon I promise.
I think the loner bullshit is just that bullshit. And I'm sick of that label being placed in front of me by dumb people who shit their pants at the mention of vampirism and even those who are supposed to be members of the community.
The loner image is not conducive to the foundations nor the building blocks of any community and thus is a damnedment to it if that is what is shown to other less informed groups.
(The Black Veil... Vampire? o.k read it! don't have to beleive its right but at least read it. It has some good points)
And as I have myself have I know that there may be some in here that I owe apologys to so...
Sorry about the rant sometimes my opinions get away from me
It has been brought to my attention that I also owe the topic starter an apology
And indeed i do
The frustration i voiced was in no way directed toward you but meerly at some of those who replied afterward.
Human contact is needed for many reasons besides the fix a day (?) I still dont know how the author came up with that, Finding donars would seem to be the most obvious reason...others may include ego..the beauty and grace of some vampyres is amazing..they do like to show off and to be noticed in a casual way. not the omg a vamp way..another reason may be that there is a need to know what is going on..curiousity...Usually when they stay away it is because there is a coming of bad "blood" within the clan or between clans...believe me..they dont hide..just look around this site...you may even find an Elder or two watching......grin
I believe that vampirism is an adiction, too. we will go on ..what ever our path.
Well mid,
I have to totally disagree with this. I think everyone needs to interact. Whether within a clan or among other people. I don't believe this is a good analogy.
M
I think we have to be very perceptive with whom we let down our guard. Society does not understand us. We are and will be as misunderstood as our ancestors.
as i have learned over time this statment isnt very forfilling... vampires overall are much more compassionate in my opinion... it is probably true that they often feed with out the person even knowing but vampires arent just leeches waiting for blood not caring about anything else.
that statement is a contradiction. you need contact to feed. *smacks forehead*
I think most creatures have a social inclination....vampires included. So, I think that this was just one's jaded opinion.
Somewhere in my wealth of trivia from classes many years ago, I remember a study being done on infants during WWII, I think. in any case, the study was about infants who were denied contact other than being fed or diapers changed vs infants who were held and stroked and coddled. the infants deprived of the contact failed to thrive and many died. How are we much different as adults? Perhaps it only takes longer for us to fail when there is no contact but we do tend to fail without it.
how could anyone live without human contact, without it we feel nothing, we would be nothing, plus its selfish if you just treat humans as if their cattle, their not expendable. we need them in some ways more than others.
mm my first thought was OF COURSE I do .. but after thinkiing of it for a moment.. I could go days without seeing people.. well as long as I got to talk to them on the comp or phone. So I suppose no I do not need it. But how boreing of a life would it be without contact.. and I like friends of all kinds.. only being friends with those like me is stiffeling and boreing
I have to agree. I do enjoy my alone time dont get me wrong. I do have to have some people in my life sense I am a social butterfly. These 4 walls are only cool for so long. I agree that the computer and phone are good outlets but there is nothing better then to be held by someone who you love and they love you back.
This comment is just shallow to deal with. With my life I am constantly networking with people. If I only had the 4 walls, phone and pc. The pizza people would never get a chance to slow down, the pc would never get turned off and then I know my ISP would be calling wanting to know why I need a Full T3 line.
I'll stick to my contacts networking.
I still enjoy contact with people, and perfer to be warm so I dont know how true that is.
I agree everyone needs human contact with someone at some point in time even if it is for short periods of time or you will lose it
i personally...think without contact with another...anyone...human..vampire..animal..anything...dies in a way..perhaps not physically but emotionally. we all need that connection.
I dasagree with this view, because unless we were brought up alone, then we desire human contact, and if we are put into isolation we will be the cause of our own demise.
there is no such thing as being brought up alone..being brought up means someone or something was there to do the bringing up
and just to say that u have never exp.psi energy xchange doesnt mean it doesnt exist..do u understand how many on this site do just that
gettin a tad grumpy...sorry...but one of the things on this site is the openmindedness we have. To say you dont believe because you have not experienced it is illogical...and..nevermind
I don't mind contact, for the simple fact that it is neccessary. However, if it were left up to me, I suspect that long ago I would have disconnected myself from the human population as a whole in search of something less banal.
its just something that can be at least vital to anyone.
Human and vampire alike, need the physical touch to survive. It is more than just a touch, its an understanding, its a connection
it is a strong addiction, no doubt, but you can't live life without any of the other things... in my honest opinion
but, to play with your food makes it better. lol. just kidding, i disagree.
Unless they are referring to keeping a low profile due to being a vampire, I still think that you would need human contact. He is most likely someone who enjoys his solitude.
That's crazy. You can be the most anti-social person on the face of the Earth but you still need human contact. You can't be by yourself for life..much less eternity, you'll become miserable without other people around..or slip into madness.
Me, i'd become miserable and depressed..and who knows what after that.
I believe it depends on the vampire. I mean in the 1800s vampires they thrived on contact with humans to the point they blended in with them.
Nowadays I see more and more vamps keeping themselves distant.
It all depends on the vampire's personalty. Just like some humans don't like human contact.
In my opinion, vampires should be around humans constantly...because that way, we will be around the blood, the flesh, and we will learn to control our needs and our wants easier than if we just will ourselves to control it. Also, vampires need to be somewhat social, because it is not healthy for us to be constantly antisocial. As for hte one hit a day thing....at least one hit a jay. Not ONLY one hit....vampires, and humans for that matter, need social lives!
well, you can't just go out there all the time and be with people, you gotta know who you are, and vampires take alot of time to brood, because they always find a victim that is so alluring that it goes against even their conscience to turn them into vampires, that is why there are so many scenes in movies vampires are like totally in love with someone and they are like
Are you sure you want this?
To get to that point the vampire has been a recluse for a while sucking on dog bones to get by, anything but nibbling on her fine procelain neck.
Then she comes to him, and he is like go away.
She keeps finding him, and he doesn't want to turn her, even though he would really want her human contact for an eternity, ultimately the animal in him decides to bare his fangs. She wanted it anyway.
I find in having a donor is best when you have a connection with them. Not just find someone randomly and take in their life force by a touch or whatever with no purpose behind it. Such things are ignorant ways of thinking.
vampires with hearts seeks hearts
vampires without seek bodies
bodies are everywhere
hearts rare
i dont know what site you found that oon but remind me not to go to that site. whoever said that is as crazy as they come. you have to have some type of contact with humans if not you will go insane, leagally.
yes some people value being alone...but not alone completely..its a comfort knowing you have someone that if needed you can turn to. i think for some of those who choose to remain recluse..its a matter of feeling accepted. for who or what they are. its a natural feeling.
There is a passion in the contact and it adds to the over-all enjoyment. It leaves you empty if you do not have that touch.
Some people have germs or phobia's.
I try to avoid human touch.
Well if you think about it, it depends on the Vampire. Some like human contact others don't. I like some human contact but not alot. I have a few friends, but not many. I actually prefer a few human friends, but lots of animal friends. To me a dog is a vampires best friend...lol
hmm interesting it's possible but highly unlikely all creatures need some type of contact or else they wither away and die...
I agree with most that human contact is an absolute necessity. Through my experiences, I have learned that when you lose touch with others, you lose touch with yourself. I believe the entire point to life is to learn from others. Without any human "interference," for lack of a better word, how is one supposed to find themselves?
