Relationship's with two regular people can prove to be quite and experience and sometime's hard enough to maintian. However do these "normal strains" ampifly when the people involved are different than what society is used too? What about a normal person and a vampyric person? Would that bring a different kind of problem while they attempt to maintain and co-exist, within a married state? I would think it would because the normal person would have to know her vampyric partner very well and would have to except that her/his partner has to hunt or feed. I have only been in normal relationship's I can't say that it would in fact bring problem's. But I am curious and would like to hear if anyone on VR has this kind of relationship. Even if you don't I would like to hear what you think. If you believe as I do, that it would not be an easy relationship or you believe there would be no problem? I can't imagine that for me it would be that easy. It would be a struggle and hard on the emotions.

I don't know if this is a topic for General Discussion..and if it's not please forgive me and I do apologize.

An interesting conversation...

Coming from the vampire side of the relationship, I would have to say it is very difficult to find an understanding partner. As such, I tend to treat my partners very well. After all, if they are willing to accept my vampire side, then I am willing to put up with a lot of their stuff, too. I choose partners very carefully and nobody but what I deem to be a solid match is ever chosen.

I would say that because of the unique nature of the vampire and because of their unique needs, it is easy to become more dependent upon the other partner. I personally moderate dependence with independence and I don't believe that any of my partners has suffered in a bad way.

Being vampiric is not an excuse to be dismissive, self-important, demanding, brutal, abusive, or otherwise a bad partner. Rather it is motivation to be a better person, IMHO.

coming from a wolf side of it it can sometimes cause problems but problems are obstacles and if you deeply love that person you will work it out together and except each other for who they are..........I can say from experience that it is hard I"m a lycan and my girlfriend is a vampire........its hard co existing but its worth the time you spend working it out.......and another thing is opposites attract and that is always important what else can I say except you can't help who you fall in love with

I'm married and I must say that the only active sang vampirism I am practicing is with him. To me, it the most intimate of things and a bond beyond the realm of what is "normal" to society. The complete lose of this, would break me to no ends..after all, we share something way beyond what is considered to be normal.

I find it difficult to live or be in love with someone who does not understand my lifestyle or religion. My lovers have always been my main doner, as well as having to put up with my magick and Wiccan imvolvement. Sometimes it does not work out. I had the perfect lover who is handfasted to me, and blood bonded, and just enough different from me to make it interesting. But now I am 3000 miles away.

well i think it is possible to have that kind of relation but like you mention it has its own unique problems like a normal relations has its own. i see no reason why it wouldn't be possible but the "normal" person should be a strong one cause i think the pressure would be quite big.

There are many good points mentioned and yes opposites do tend to attract to each other. The foot stones that need to be established in any & every relationship is complete open & honesty. Without that there won't be any trust. Complete trust & faith between two partners develops your strength to conquer all obstacles in your path.

Sure, there are challenges to face in society almost on a daily basis... but that is with every individual that dares to be different. But no matter the differences, your soulmate will be the one by your side going into battles with you.

I've had relationships with 'normal' people who didn't even attempt to try and understand who and what I was. The worst relationship was while I was going through my 'awakening' ... she was the most selfish, self-centred woman I've ever had the misfortune to meet. Not once did she take into account or consideration what I was going through at the time. Needless to say that relationship fizzled out. I've had 2 relationships since then...one lasted 3 months (she was a born-again Xtian who tried to convert me) and the other lasted 14months...she was a Satanist too...but not a vampire. To date, I have never had a long term relationship with a like minded individual....I have met one now but she lives 1000's of miles away, hopefully being with one so similar will work out, plus I'll also get the chance to feed on a regular basis and not have to rely on my local butcher for pigs blood!

My awakening happened on a one night stand.I,ve had a couple of proper relationships since, but both have ended in they have seen the brutal temper that goes with being what we are.No I never hurt them, but people that did suffered. They found my darkside scary.Human men can get protective enough. But when ur a vamp that emotion increases 1000 fould. They never saw me feed.but they saw the vampire in action in other ways. Its hard to contain it.But we have tto survive.

It might depend on your definition of "normal" lol. In some ways I am in that type of relationship, being my fiance is a vampire and I am not...I've accepted our differences and I'm willing to put up with what I consider to be abnormal behaviors to an extent. We have boundaries as in any relationship and it doesn't seem like a strain because we both understand each other and communicate freely and openly. Then again I am a witch (as is he) so we are not normal to begin with by mainstream standards :)

I'm not the mystical type vampire, but I am a Vampyric Agonostic. I've had lots of relationships where the girl was atheist, christian, luciferian, or catholic, but I've never had a problem based on those differences. Every relationship I've had we've both respected each others believes and didn't inpose it on the other. So, I think that relationships are hard but we can all learn to accept the main differences.

That is a very good point. I think for myself, and most others here...we've tried to find a partner who will understand, and maybe share the same ideas/traits as us. All of my partners ((whether male or female...makes no difference really)) have had in interest in vampires, or just had an interest in pain, or just simply loved me, and cared for me for who I am. That's all any vampire, or wolven could ever ask for. Even humans.

Thank you all so much for posting, I am not a Vampire or live the life of one but I have allway's been attracted to Vampire's, I often wonder if I did in fact fall in love with someone who is, what that would be like for me? Could I truly understand and not have any issues with it? Would I follow in time and turn, would I be ready to do that?

I've never had a woman even profess her love for me, so I have no concept of the relationship, only what I have come up with based on observation and my own thought.

I would think that it would come to understanding the needs. I myself, while some might consider me to not be a true vampire (I take energy mainly to, at least in my mind; be better than what's around me) because I do not need blood, I mostly just casually feed from energy around me.

The notion alone of "taking energy" perhaps would be a hard sell to some women, who pride themselves on the more superficial and plastic things in life.

It frustrates me that I cannot find a woman to love me for me where I am... at least I still have my grandiose improved awareness over the human race... which provides one with a certain kind of pride that is a hard find.

mistressmoonlight? You may have the answer! It could very well sit on boundries. I agree as in any relationship you need boundries to keep your self respect and who you are without losing yourself in someone else's life. It seem's that it would be easier to come to and understanding and respect the other person for who they are and how they live. I thought about this all night and I would have a hard time understanding. I don't believe love is blind and you will do whatever when you're in love.

I'm just now getting a divorce partially because he is normal and I'm a vampire. He could never understand why I would have to feed. He always thought that I could just stop whenever. In addition, it became a joke so I went underground. I hid this part of me from him which led to deception and lying. I eventually had enough of leading two separate lives. I'm not saying that all marriages like mine are doomed but there has to be ultimate trust, understanding, and support of the vampiric lifestyle in order for it to work.

That was part of the problem. My husband was too small and scared to be my donor but then he didn't want me to use someone else as a donor. He saw it as cheating. Plus he was afraid of what I could potentially be exposing him to. Thanks for the sympathic post. Life will be better for me without him.

kristianathevamp? That's what I have run into and like I have stated many time's before I am not a Vampire but just because of simple thing's like being on VR I have allready been accused of all kind's of evil doing's and fear of me seem's to come with all that. So I can see how not understanding someone's lifestyle might be hard especially when it's on a more intimate level. It would definately take a very understanding person willing to learn all there is to learn about Vampire's.

Yes it would be difficult to be a human dating a vampire or a vampire dating a human but it can be done.

Problems that might be difficult: feeding, the sun, family, and dieing

Well I am on the vamp side in this and my hubby is very aware of it. Yet I rarely feed from him. It.. I am not sure why it just seems odd to both of us. That being said he has no problem with me feeding from others. In fact my main donor is a very good friend of ours. I have 5 donors at present.. sighs far more than normal for me lol.. but only one willing or able to give me blood so its a bit of a strain. But I have only find problems if I hide what I am. Or if I try to be in a relationship with another vampire.. that has never worked for me. I am not sure why but it seems to end badly whenever I have tried. But for the most part I do not find being what I am to be a huge problem unless of course I am trying to hide it.

I feel if you are truly in love nothing would matter Vampire or not . I feel the most important thing is honesty. If you are truthfull and he still dosent understand and accept you for who you are then he just dosent love you like he says he does.
"To thine own self be true" the rest will fall in place.

Sometime's just being in a regular relationship with two human's can prove to be quite an experience and they basically live the same. Imagine a human and a Vampire? The difference's in lifestyle? Getting to accept the other person getting to learn alot about feeding or having other females or males as donor's if the human is not a donor. I would think that this would in fact be kind of hard and they would definatley be facing some issues, maybe even more serious than just two humans in a relationship.

I know this sounds cliche' but to me I think that anyone can coexsist in a relationship if the attraction and want is there. I think that if a vampire and a human were to attempt a relationship they could be successful if it was something that both partners were to attempt. They could run into problems, but any relationship can. I am not in the situation so I cant say for sure. That is just my opinion on it though. :)

I would suppose that it would entail the same things you would find in any kind of relationship. When u r with someone u accept them for who they are, as they should do the same in return. A compromise in which both parties agree.

Like stated above though there are some people who have had a good relationship and yet those who because they are Vampire have stated it has been difficult and for some just impossible with a human

My lovers and donors and boyfriends have never experienced sex the likes of which I am capable of giving them, they have all said so and after cutting off our relationship, they have all admitted that they miss that aspect of our relationship dearly. It's almost depriving them of something they are aware they may never find again...

Relationships are always about give and take, sharing, understanding, tolerance and believing in the other. It always helps to have the same, or many of the same type of lifestyle and even hobbies.

Perhaps that is why I am still alone - finding someone with the fascination and interest in the paranormal, vampires, and other dark interests..

I would have to say that this problem would be amplified to an extent. Society tends to put additional pressures on those that are not the accepted norm. These pressures carry over into any relationship. Look at the homosexual community for example. Although their rights are increasing over time it is at a very slow rate. This same prejudice could be carried over into that of individuals with alternative lifestyles.

Someone mentioned the concept of multiple donors. This gets a little tricky and the best one can hope for is a pair of polyamourous partners... meaning that they are into having multiple relationships and therefore there is no jealousy involved.

I think that any relationship is going to be hard. If you really like someone you will take the time to try to inderstand, or try to explain. It is not going ot be easy but why not give it a chance??? You never know till you try and I mean honestly try.

The main components in any type of relationship is trust and acceptance. If you both trust each other then you can make it work. As long as you can trust and accept each other you can get thru anything. The moment trust and acceptance leaves the relationship ends.

I've experienced both types of relationship since I 'came out of the coffin'. My first was with a non-vamp, who, to give him his dues, did try to understand, but in the end he couldn't. He didn't seem to understand that I didn't connect feeding with intimacy. I tried to explain to him that feeding for me was just like going out for a meal with a mate, but he couldn't grasp that. I fed off him a couple times, but it never felt right. In the end we split up, not just over the vampire thing, but that was a major part of it. I needed to be with someone who loved me for me. My ex even went so far as to call me damaged....you can't live with someone who thinks like that about you...

Fortunately, I then got into a relationship with the man who i'm now engaged to. He's a feeder himself, and for me, he's also a donor. We share. I find I don't need any other donors now. I used to have 3 or 4 when I was with my ex.

In conclusion, I believe our kind are best with another of our kind, simply because understanding is a major part of any relationship, and who better to understand a vampire than another vampire?

I am only 17 and not married, but I think it could work. I mean it would be hard and both would have to be able to understand each other and talk about it.. but I think it could work as long as one another really cared for each other.

For the most part in all my life....every non-Kin based realtionship, tho perhaps good or bad in it's ways, has always ended, and most in not so great ways. It got to the point where I refused to ever date another 'normal' again, tho as far as types go, I never had a set 'type', as long as they were somehow into what I liked. The best relationships I had in my youth were either with other Kin, or at the least those who were pagan and open-minded.

My ex-husband was a souless mundane idiot, I had to hide myself from him in every sense, for almost 3 years, and when it finally came out 'of the coffin', he rebuked me,amongst other reasons, and dismissed me as crazy- the marriage ended.

My husband now, the man I should have always had, is Kin and Vamp like me, we have MANY interests, and very few non-interests, save computers for he, and music for me (tho neither of us is avid about the others main hobby). I wouldn't have it any other way- he understands me to a 't'.

But, in any relationship, communication, and open-channels are the keys to making it work or at least run as smooth as possible.

I imagine it could be a very difficult relationship indeed. There would be so many differences to overcome and accept. It would take a great deal of love and patience from both parties. However, I have the strong belief that if anything is worth having then it is worth fighting for. If the love is something that both people want and need then they should be able to overcome anything. I'm just a sappy romantic like that. *grins* All relationships take a little TLC though. You get nowhere if you slack.

My answer to this question would be that all relationships take work, be they between a vampire and non-vampire or otherwise. Communication tends to break down when one half of the relationship doesn't fully understand what the other half is going through. Especially with something as touchy as vampirism. My husband doesn't fully believe because he doesn't understand. Disbelief tends to put on on the defensive and that also causes strain on a relationship.

I am a type of counselor to many in this situation as well as what most would call a psi battery.A sister of mine goes hunting with her partners permission. One man's wife doesn't understand and his energy exchange is sexual in nature, cyber is what he's had to settle for, for now. Another I call brother is psi and sang but he has trouble finding donors, he is gay and very strong willed. Many seek me out when they awaken, and we try to work out safe feeding grounds for those not in a relationship or in one where the other partner doesn't understand. Sometymes bars or malls with lots of people where a psi vamp can just take small amounts unnoticed can be workable. I've fed a few when I've found them in pagan situations so they won't prey on the unknowing or unwilling.
A relationship between a psi vamp and a non psi vamp can be very draining. I am of a nature where only one thing fully recharges me and without a partner it is not possible and silly me won't settle for anything without love involved. For those who can't read between the lines I am currently charging only on nature through something akin to wiccan means, but am actually more of a succubus. I can put energy into crystals and use that to help others and myself and I can feed another psi but it drains me for a couple days. And right now, I have no one whom I fully recharge with.
Back to topic, if a non vamp and a psi or sang or combo or both get togather, the non needs to understand if he/she is not enough for the vamp partner to recharge upon, then he/she must be willing and understanding enough to allow if not help the vamp partner feed elsewhere, for it's not fair nor wise for the vamp to drain the non vamp partner below a certain level. As I stated some like me can draw energy from natural or magickal means and store it to share but unless I have my chance to recharge fully, I couldn't be a vamps partner 24/7 either. So what you have to look at is your ability to give vs their needs, and then decide how any deficits are to be made up, in such a way neither partner feels cheated upon or used or unfairly not getting what they need .
Best of luck in finding what you seek, and getting what you need.

it is not easy to come to terms with. be it sang, psy, or sexual - feeding is a very personal and intimate process, and unless the "vampire" is solely dependent on his / her partner, then there is bound to be issues here. most people find it difficult if their partner habitually flirts with other people, so how much harder is vampiric feeding to tolerate?

This is exactly what I am trying to get at, I strongly believe that it would amplify certain issues for the people involved. A Vampyric and Human relationship would be an interesting one to say the least. As I mentioned with my opening statement. I agree with all of you about the basic need for understanding in any relationship...and you have to agree with me that even then there are sometime's many issue's still to be faced. A Human and Vampyric relationship is not typical and my guess is that it would even be a little more difficult. I didn't say impossible, or much harder, just very different from emotion's to morals and such.

Great conversation. Coming from the vampric side and the dominate side of the relationship, I would have to say that yea it is hard. My GF has alot of trust in me and that helps alot. Through the last three years I have introduced her to alot of new things that she has never done before, and she let me without question. I do have other donors that I feed from and she has not a problem with that either. But that is now. In the psat I have hidden what/who I am from every concievable person (including family) for one reason on another (mostly personal), and that didn't really help in those relationships.
So I have come to a new theory, if someone truely, deeply loves you, then there should be no problems in the relationship that cannot be worked out. TO find somebody like that is truely a gift. If there are unresolvable issues, then that will do nothing but cause tension between the both of you. You can pretty much guess where that leads to!

Great point! I am human with a great deal of interest and fascination with Vampire's and Goth lifestyle's, which open's me up and make's me more available to meet all kind's of people. I also question myself about having a relationship with someone with a different lifestyle than my own or what I am use too. And I question myself on how I would be able to cope with such different way's. Seem's to be it would be easier to just be freind's.

First off, let it be said that there would be issues in dealing with a relationship between vampire and human.

It seems to me that you are questioning the dynamics of a vampire/human relationship. Any differences can be overcome with communication if both parties are willing to talk and care for each other.

Possibly a few things that could come in between: the vampire drains energy / blood from a partner. They would need to understand this before anything is really initiated between the parties.

I really consider all relationships possible if both sides are willing to a. communicate their needs and b. compromise when possible. c. set realistic expectations of each other.

i like this thread its very interesting!

To be honest i think that the normal person in the relationship would have to know her/his partner's hunting & feeding ways...and the vampiric person would have to deal with the normal person's ways aswell but i dont think it would put a strain or complicate the relationship if both of you know what your getting yourselves into and your dealing with it enough to date then it should be ok...but it really depends on the people/vampires and their beliefs/ways of life! hope that makes sense to you!

Any relationship has it's problems, joys, rewards, difficulties. Each partner must give and take, learn the other's preferences, "moods," etc. This would apply to vampyric relationships as well :P

It all comes down to wether a person really cares about you or not. IF they truly care about you there are not going to have an issue with who you are or what you do. I used to keep alot inside and not tell alot of people because they do not understand. I have decided to be more open about who i am what i am and what I belive. I will not look at a person or give a person a chance if they do not take me for all of me.

They don't have to agree with anything you do, but if they are going to still let you be who you are it can still work.

I was involved for a very short period of time with some one who was also a donor. It was nice not having to worry and not having vampirism as an issue between us. vampire and nonvampire can have relationships but I think that for me, I'm only going to have relationships with people who are at least donors so that I don't have this additional pressure to worry about.

I am in a relationship with a vampire. Instead of it being an obstical it has brought us closer together. However, It goes without saying that in our relationship she must also be understanding of my being a Druid. So It is important that both people are attuned to each other no matter the situation---oil and water do indeed mix but eventually seperate.

The last two posts are very interesting. Both true in a way...I think it's safe to say that it just depend's on each individual. My curiosity in it alone could bring some understanding of other's to me, I'm just not sure that I would have a relationship with someone Vampyric. I really don't know...I guess I would have to be in that situation....where I actually found someone I liked and cared about to find out.

I think it would largely depend on the personality of the normal person in the relationship. There are alot of people that are very "flexible" in realtionships. They might not mind at all and be very understanding. However someone that is not used to any of the vampire ways might not see it that way and be due for a rude awakening.

to be honest i have never been a relastionship with a human. But i will say that the strain of wanting to give your all to that person when they hate what you must do to serve, can be hard. But it up to those people top make it work. This i have learned from dealinjg with lycans, demons and a few vampires in my time.
But if both are willing to compromise than it will work .

well in all aspecs of most topics it would depend on many factors. first of all it would depend on each person in the relationship, then the matter of feeding and how the "normal" person felt on the matter, but in the sense of just the general matter of a relationship between the vampire and the "normal" person in my personal opinion it would be very difficult, living day by day knowing that your partner feeds on the life force of other beings, personally it wouldn't bother who i would be with because if they couldn't take that simple fact i have no business being with them or vise versa. So yea, it would be difficult because if the person isn't used to it they would have to live a double life and for most people that isn't easy.
