I have always wondered how many of you here in the world of VR and out side think that people can really talk to the dead or see the future.

Do you think this is a real gift or good guessing?

I think it's a real gift. There are people that are good guessers. But there are certain things that people know that can't be explained for example, I knew exactly the outfit I would be wearing when I got hit by a car. I have thousands of outfits. Plus, I was a kid, I dreamed it, wrote it down, and forgot it until the accident happened. Felt the deja vu, consulted my notebook and there it was.

You are so much braver than I. If I had such a vivid preminition. I would have made sure that I never had the outfit in question. No matter how cute it made me look.

Depends on what you mean by telling the future.

As a physicist I am capable of telling the future within my power of observation and my knowledge of physics. So if I see a bottle on a shelf in labile equilibrium and observe how many people per unit of time pass brush against said shelf passing by, I can rather precisely foretell when it's going to fall.

Telling the future in the sense of being able to know something is going to happen no matter what, is in direct opposition to my knowledge of physics, and would infer a fixed flow of events - call it unchangable fate - which has already been disproven by experiment.

Of course all beings have this ability. Some are strongly intuitive, while others struggle to use it. But make no mistake it was instilled in everything.

I agree with SarraS, to a point.

I do not think that anyone can "see" the future with true clarity. i.e. they "Know" what is going to happen.

I do, however, think that some people have the ability to see POTENTIAL future events. An event or series of events that are a possible future path for the individual in question.

It's just that the events seen don't have to happen, but if they do, they play out in the way predicted.

I really don't think this ability has anything to do with "talking to the dead", however.

If you see something in your head and it hasnt happened yet, then yes i do.

I tend to believe, predicting the future is akin to the "Infinite Monkeys" theory.

If enough people make enough predictions, eventually someone will be accurate.

Case in point.... someone wins the lotto almost every week.

However to go against my theory, I've never actually seen a monkey win the lotto.

Regardless, what is the point of seeing the future if you can't see it with accuracy as to when the events might happen and/or do something about the bad events?

Above, a young lady (forgot who, my sincerest apologies) gave the example of knowing what outfit she would be wearing when hit by a car. She claims it was an accurate and foretelling premonition.

Now if I had that premonition, what is the first thing I would have done? Wrote it in a journal? Marked it on a calendar?

I would have thrown away the damn outfit!

I believe we have inner guides that help us. I had a feeling not to go to a graduation. It keep nagging at me, and I pulled the raven from a oracle deck ill fate. We had a car accident. I believe that if we listen closely to our inner voice it guides us to make the right choices. To honestly say i knew I was going to be in a accident no.

i would have done the same thing i would have burn the outfit. but who knows it may have happen even with out wearing the outfit....... the only thing is it was going to happen when she bought the outfit........ or at least thats what i think.....

I went to a mediumn from Lilydale NY 1st time I laided eyes on her she described my mother and uncle to a tee. They gave me a message only I knew, noone else could possibly know. This has just been one of my experiences.

i think that it is a real gift. people that are mediums are very empathic in my book. i think that there are some people that claim to be but are not and it can give the really gifted people a bad name

I very much believe that u can have the "gift" to see the future and to see and speak with the spirits. However, I also believe u must have a very open mindset to obtain these gifts.

the other thing i have wanting to know is that when u have these feeling or the vision's does any one think it is a good idea to voice these things to the out side world. or would they think we re fucking nutz

I believe above all chaos.. we never know what will happen, though sometimes we may get a vision of a hint of what will come.

But chaos being what it is, that hint may or may not have relevance when the time comes.

I think you can see the future... When i was about 7 or 8 i dreamt about having surgery on my mouth, having it crushed, watchin the pins being inserted, & watching them realign everything as much as they were able to. When i was a month shy of turning 17 i had that surgery b/c of orthodontic reasons... I even dreamt about my brother having a wreck in the middle of the woods. Sure enough last year he did b/c he & his friends wanted to be cool & chase after a turkey in a truck instead of doing it the normal way.... *groans* Leave it to my brother to do something so darn stupid...
Anyways, i do believe that people have this ability. Its just that some are more in tune with it than others

I believe it is possible to see into the near future for i experience this ability daily through my dreams. If i am able to decipher the messages in my dreams, i am able to tell what is going to happen in the following day.

sometimes it is trickery...but sometimes you just can't figure out how they would know some of this stuff. I don't know but I do believe there are psychics out there.

hit or miss and charlatanism. some people are good at seeing spirits, telling the trends of the future and the like. some are good at reading people in general as well as their movements, the way they stand, and the way they dress.

they are so good at reading people they can guess a lot of correct information about them. it's a real talent.

i think it is possible to see trends, but part of me remains skeptical at all times and wonders if it's not just 'you see what you choose to see'. even in my tarot card readings, which always happen to make sense, i wonder if people don't read what they need to read into it, or vice versa.

I wonder if David Copperfield stayed in his glass box then? lol

I do believe in what I've experienced as premonitions. Sometimes visual and alway sensual(feelings) but they are not full and clear pictures of precise line by line type of visions. They are more pronounced than a "feeling" and they have never been wrong yet.

I believe there are people that are "hyper-sensitive" to many things, other people, surroundings, animals and dreams. The "ability" to tell the future, i can't say would be dne with dragon knuckles and chicken bones and not smirk a little. I think you either have a gift of foresight or you don't. Counterpoint: who's to say how reliable it can even be when any thread can throw a future off pattern?

I have premonitions so I wouldn't know. I see things before they happen but as far as any other means I can't say much.

Seriously though, I think we confuse the idea of premonition with some strict interpretation of fate. There's a movie coming out called "Next" that I believe takes a softer approach. What if we can see various possibilities of the future? Through either a mystical sense of probability or an extreme understanding of the factors beyond normal human reasoning. What if a part of our brain (or 'soul' if you will) could add up all these variables and show you clear possible outcomes beyond any normal person? It doesn't mean that everything's set in stone but that you know the likely outcome through a vision or whispered voice.

I do believe that it is a true gift... But there are alot of people out there that do just guess..

I would like to think that "precognition", that is, Scrying, tarot, or any other means, is more like getting a GPS signal. It can't say any outcome for sure, since we have our own will and can change course at any time. Rather it shows what street we are coming up on, and which we are likely to turn at, based on past observations.

In any case, it's not definate- but it is helpful.

Sometimes when I'm dreaming I dream of usually a death and sometimes it comes true. But that's it for me.

eh, I think it is what u beleive in personally cause some people will go to a forture teller and beleve whatever it is said when in truth it is all a scam but other people have a sixth sense and use to help other people in certain unsolved cases in police departments all around the country so that is my take on this one

i think its a real, rare, overly abused and exploited gift.....

i do believe in it. i know i have some small amount of "espn" and it kicks on and off depending on what is around.

there are alot of other things that i know i have but i haven't been able to experiment enough to be confident enough to tell someone else's or pick winning numbers.

i do think the world "tells" you what is about to happen but you need to learn how to see, read, understand, and deciper

i do think we are on a cusp of human nature evolving. so these tings you think of might be more common in time but i dont think human nature would be able to accept the understanding needed

I think some are educated guesses... but I do believe that there are some in can see in the future.

foretelling the future would seem to some to be an easy thing but it isn't really. People who see the future only see one possibility of the future say you see yourself running and in the vision you see someone through something and knock you over in the vision when you go out running you will know what is going to happen so you stop when you know something is going to get thrown let it pass and move on. You have already changed the vision. No one with any accuracy can pinpoint the exact future and know for a certainty that that one thing is going to happen because there are way to many variables.

I believe there are people with this gift. I also believe alot more claim to have it but really don't and do it just for fame or money which is really messed up. I don't think people are 100% on though because the person that they are telling the future about could do something at any time and completly change what will happen. I think the final result is probably more on in future telling than if one is trying to give details.

People have prophesied for centuries. I believe it's a gift. Weather it comes to you in a dream spirit, or vision, I believe it does happen. It's a matter of knowing how to interpret them is the trick.

I believe you can see the future,but I also believe notheing is set in stone and there are many things that can alter the out come.I have seen some future events,and used that knowledge as a warning and tried to change the outcome by my actions and interactions,not always or often magic.Just my 2 cents worth.

I do not think the future is written in stone. You may get a glimse of what could be, then something you do could change the outcome. If fortune telling was 100% there would be a lot of rich people in the business.

i dont for a second believe it.i mean if there was someone,anyone who could tell the future.why wouldnt they take advantage of it by making cures faster.saving people in burning buildings before they caught fire,stop rapist,murders and child molesters.

I get impressions all the time and useually the tend to pan out so yes i do belive but yes they are only impressions not the set future

precogs as an impressionist...sure as a full on clairvoyant... i dunno... the ability to clearly see the future would be very destabilizing I would think.

I have dreams that seem to play out. The problem is I never know when they will play out. I hope one day I will be able to fully understand how to use this gift.

I do not believe that any one person has the ability to "see the whole future" but I do believe that some people are "blessed" with the ability to see an event before it happens.
It then becoms the burden of that person on what to do with that knowledge.

well i`ve had insidences where i at least though i was in the preasence of my diseased brother and great-grandmother and i do fell like some people may have a strong link with us and the afterlife. and i dont think that you can predict the whole future, but maybe different parts of the future

i believe that it is a gift. the problem is, deciding who really has the gift and who is just trying to scam u. there are so many scammers out there that i think it has ruined the idea of it. But i do believe. but i also think that some of it is perception. fortune tellers give u an idea of the path u are on and allows u the ability to try and change it.

I believe that it is a real gift, but many people seriously overdo it. Its not something to flaunt around, showing off, but it IS a wonderful gift if it is used correctrly.

for example, my sister was getting ready to go out with her boyfriend to see a movie, my mom came into the room and told her she couldnt go. at first she argued back but then she saw the worried look on my moms face and asked wut was wrong.
my mom said that she had just pictured my sisters boyfriends car in a horrible wreck.
my sister agreed to stay home but she wasnt happy about it.
that night her boyfriend took a frined to go in her place, on the way home they got in a horrible wreck and his friend was killed. he was sitting in the passenger seet where my sister would have been.
if she would have went she would have been the one that was killed.

That story has all the markings of a self-fullfilling prophesy...

I believe it's a true gift. For most people it comes in the form of deja vue and they never realize it or associate it with getting a glimpse of the future.

spirits and ghosts are real and are always trying to communicate with us! and some people have the gift of being able to communicate with the dead! =]

of course I believe. People have been doing it for millions of years.

There are people born with the gift of prophecy.take nostradamus,one of the most famous ever.although it was his ability that lead to his demise,for he was accused of alchemy and excecuted.so i think it can also prove to be a curse.

seeing into the future i dunno, diving yes i started doing tarot about 2 years ago and didnt realkly belive in it just thought oh a chance to learn something how fun! well i still do tarot and have had enough people come to me afterwards freaking out about how it all happened, and i dont even let them tell me therte question so theyll know im not a scammer.
course i apologize everytime i do a reading cause well... man life sucks alot!

Surely there are people that have been blessed with that gift. I don't believe they can will it though.....I believe it comes in it's own form at with it's own timing.

i do believe that it is a gift,myself i have had some strange thoughts upon wondering about things and they have happend,i can if i am close to a person i can tap into a persons emotions and sence that something is up.

in my option i feel that with every bond we form there is another but stronger bond that is formed. so when that person is hurt or sad or something of that nature we feel it in our hearts and our souls. but the other thing is that with that bond we can also say what that person is likly to do in the future.

I believe that some people are able to sense or have a feeling that something is about to happen. My roommate did not go to a particular club one night, because she had a hunch something bad was going to happen. A huge fight broke out and quite a few people got hurt. She was thankful she paid attention to the feeling or whatever she got telling her not to go. When she was a child, she use to ride in the back of her father's El Camino quite often. One day her sister wanted to ride in the back and asked my roommate to ride with her. My roommate said let's ride in the front. She has said something told her it was a bad idea. She was lucky or blessed (whichever way you care to see it) that she paid attention. A drunk driver hit the back of the El Camino. The tailgate ended up next to the cab of the truck. So it is safe to say my roommate and her sister could have both been killed.

On the other hand, I believe many people claim to have a gift and are frauds. Miss Cleo comes to mind.

I really believe that some can. There are always the ones that pretend to make money(IE Ms. Cleo) which make the true ones look like fakes themselves.

yes I have dreams that do sometimes, and sometimes they are a little off. But its always a surprise when it does come true.

yes I do believe in the abilily to know the future, and I do know a couple of people who have never been wrong on a prediction in over 30 years.

I mostly think it is a concidence and pure luck.

Of course,though I prefer to go day by day,its just the way of things,if you knew the future and tried to change it couldn't it possibly alter the natural course of life.

I myself have a habit of dreaming about what's going to happen... both in the next few days and in the longer future... but I don't htink I see the future persay... I think it's more a matter of what You notice without realizing You noticed it...

I do think it s real in a few ways.

One some people can just put two and two together and get what they need to tell you what might happen sometime soon.

The few that can rember there dreams and pick up on things that ether they worry about on what might happen, or can do as the first one but do it through there dream. This means that if you hold onto what a dream was and such you can pick out something of either what might happen or find something that you never knew about that is going to happen.

Then there are those that just get a feeling to what might happen, or that something might happen. This can fall into its something that was programed into you is a bad place to be. Then again this could also just mean that you feel something is just going to happen. This one is the one I fit in. Either im picking up on something that was drilled into me somehow or I just feel that something is up today. Be it miner or large sometimes I cannot tell. But all I know its a feeling its going to matter somehow.

The other ways I cannot say much about but they could either be some combo of those three or aspects of them (putting youself into a dream state while having a strong feeling something might happen could be one way that some others ways take it). But we all very well have are own way, be it based off logic or based off faith, a feeling, or something else.

seeing the dead: well i worked in a graveyard from about 7-14 and there was places in each cemetery i worked at i didnt like to go i dont recall seeing anything.

*off topic but funny* i told my uncle that it smelt like something was dead in a corner of the cemetery.
and he said "yes, there is alot dead things over there"

I believe that some can see or tell the future. They say we only use a small percentage of our brains. I think some are just naturally able to tap into that.
I wonder what we are all capable of doing if we could use it all?! Would be interesting to find out!

life and the future are changable places/events..having said that....i gave a freind of mine a reading some years ago. i saw an accident, they laughed..oh no , we just had one . when they got home to chicago, they were in a bad accident. i dont do readings anymore.

yea, telling the fufture is a legitimate ability, i dont consider myself gifted in that way @ all, but i have had dreams that tell me whats about to happen in my life many times.

Divination techniques allow you to access the spirt, the spirit knows a great deal more then you having been arround and seen much more then a single life could ever contain, accessing this knowledge can allow you insight into future events which have a predictable outcome.

i would say i have a gift, i dont see the future or anything but i have a good sense of things , especially when something bad is going to happen.
i never forget the time we were going on holiday (i was about 14) and we got told that our plane had been changed to a bigger plane.
just before we boarded the plane , i looked at it and i told my mum that we should not get on it, and something bad is going to happen.
Anyway we got on the plane ..... it got struck by lightning which you could see go through the windows across the plane. the ride was so rocky, children screaming people crying and vomitting.
we foung out after we landed that we fell 500 ft and had to change route.
I HAVE NOT BEEN IN A PLANE SINCE!

i have a openned mind to all things i do not rule out anything. i have had dreams which have come to pass so this is in a way telling the future...everyone has their own beliefs and thats their right, me i take it as it comes one way or the other

I totally believe ppl can do the unexpected like tell the future, I know I can time to time actually most of all the time. And hve relatives that can do it too I can also see things that most ppl cant, which is the most fun, lol, Blessed Be.
