My Mum firmly believes that Christopher Lee played the sexiest vampire on the silver screen. I personally favour Bela Lugosi. What are your thoughts on, not necessarily the sexiest, but most compelling vampire portrayed on film?

I so love Bela Lugosi; but Gary Oldman really redefined everything for me. They're tied as my favorite :)

One thing about Bela Lugosi , he poured himself into the role. He was good. growing up there were a few other good ones , agreed,.. Chrisopher Lee , and Jack Palance were good also , all were good at Dracula. Vincent Perez was not bad either at portraying a vampire.

Cristopher lee was the best Dracula I say, yet gary Oldman did steal the show. On class act Christopher lee all the way.

I should say that my favorite is Stuart Townsend... in Queen of the Damned... he's pretty hot... don't you think?

But we vcannot forget the propelling role as a vampire played by Max Shrek.

I don't remember that guy... or maybe I haven't watched all vampires movies... but there's also a film that in Spanish meant VAMPIRES only that... and the actor was very hot too... he had a special last name and one part of it was Griffith, I'm sure... does any one remember him?

Personally, I adore Christopher Lee. His stature, his appearance, his voice - he just completely becomes whatever he plays. Lucky for him, he like playing darker roles - he happens to be naturally suited for it!

Thank goodness I didn't see any mention of Tom Crusie. There is a quote from the movie Bowfinger I just love, "look at that vampire movie they did, tom cruise never even knew he was in it!" or something like that. Hmmm, the sexiest vampire? too many to name! And I've seen no mention of any female vampires.

Both Bela Lugosi and Christopher Lee were the masters at playing vampires. Gary Oldman is just the modern version of them.

as far as pure out and out sex appeal with the man and the movie, I personally pick Frank Langella's version- but I also liked Dominick Purcell as Drake in Blade Trinity, and James Marsters as Spike just was adorable...lol

This may sound lame... but I go for Gary Oldman. He's one of my favorite actors in general~ but he REALLY did well with his acting range in that movie. Think of him in the different 'positions'... as the Vlad before his death, as the old man type vampire when meeting Jonathan Harker, and the awe-struck Prince in his encounters with Mina.

I had seen Gary Oldman in a few things before that movie... but it was THAT movie that made me take notice of him. The man is a genius on film.

I must admit that the only time I've ever found Tom Cruise sexy is when he played Lestat in Interview with the Vampire-a part I think he played rather well actually.

Max Shrek really got into the role and was even rumoured to be a real Vampire.
Gary Oldman was very good as Dracula in the Francis Ford Coppola version of the film.

Both are great actors but I would have to say my favorite would be Gary Oldman. Not only was he sexy and there is just some thing about him. He played that role so well. That and I love him in other movies.

I really like the Bela Lugosi version of Dracula, but I believe that Gary Oldman definitely "romanticised" vampires on the screen and did an excellent job :) My personal favorite was Stuart Townsend, but the sexiest vamp for me has to be Kate Beckinsale from Underworld. OoooOOOooOOOooooOO :)

Christopher Lee was good, but my familia and I also like Frank Langella. Don't get me wrong, I like all of them, but FL had a thing about him, the way he carried himself. My mother loves the guy.

Granted this is a very tough decision and allthough I loved Tom Cruise I have to give the award to either Steward Townsend. For some reason a rockstar vampire just gets me hot haha

To be fair to the b-movie genre, I would say Kristanna Løken of the movie Bloodrayne was pretty good. She actually played a dhampir which is a half-vampire / half-human character. After watching the movie a few times, I can say her acting is solid, however her supporting actors are not quite up to par.

Well I hate tu say it....but Cruise and Pitt did one hell of a job! And Bill Paxton played a GREAT vampire in "Near Dawn"....I swear he was supah dupah!

I believe the man who plays Henry Fitzroy on Blood Ties does a pretty good job in portraying a vampire..And the sexiest to my opinion.

Bela Lugosi was great as Dracula, Christopher Lee was very good in the Hammer Studio films.
Perhaps the best would be El Vampiro, made at night in the same set as Dracual was shot, the spanish and mexican vampires were very compelling, Andres Soler, for one

I dont know i cant quite choose. I tend to find "something" about all the vampire characters that attracts me to them. But Bela Lugosi did a excellent job. Townsend was by far hot as well as brad Pitt and tom cruise. Christopher did well too. He looked the part of the old Hungarian King Vlad. I saw a lot of vlad in him. I feel sorry for Bela lugosi though. he was almost buried with no gravestone because of his debts that were not paid off. I want to visit his grave sometime.

Most vampire movies portray vampires as having eternal youth and were chosen to be a vampire at the time they became sexually active. So naturally vampires are visually sexually attractive. The actual act of biting another to sustain life is rather repulsive but to to obtain another's fluids is that of a sexual act.

for me, Gary Oldman was great, Brad Pitt was absolutely delicious, and Kate Beckinsale wins the competition.

I believe the performance of Gary Oldman in Coppola's 1992 version of Bram Stoker's, "Dracula" was by far the best Count Dracula. It was realistic and the astonishing performances, in my opinion made all the other Draculas' look amateur.

This movie brought me goosebumps on my goosebumps! and well so did Keanu Reeves :)

Max Shrek was the most spooky of all the film vampires in my opinion...
