There are many different Thoeries of how this world came to be as well as the creation of the Universe. My question is this.. What do you believe created everthing... I know Science states that in the begining there was nothing but gas before something a catalist if you wish caused this Huge explosion which caused many of the gases to form into soild materials creating the planets as well as the satalites that orb them. Plus created Hug balls of Flaming gases creating each sun. That this process had taken eons to create the many galaxicys out there.. Then we come to this planet.... Was it a freak of nature if you will for life to form on this planet.. Could this also have happened on other reaches of the Universe on countless other planets...

wow im excited to see some of the responses to this. as there are a lot of theories and probably a lot of ppl who believe in at least one of each of them.

i know the big bang theory... and its not too far off in my opinion. i can see how there are gases everywhere that create a boom and make masses. and from those masses evolution. plants, to bugs, to animals to ppl.

then u have the religious point of view. God. I think it depends on what u want to believe . whatever helps u make sense of it all. because in the end, u only need to know for ur own thoughts.

i've had this discussion with a friend many times
i do not believe a big bang theory over an intelligent creation
they are both equally plausible in my mind but neither gives me enough proof to disprove the other. and it could be like someone said above me that an intelligent creator used the big bang

I like the chaos big bang theory. There are different flows and ebbs in the univers, chaos and order. When chaos and order align, *big bang* destroys one universe and creates another.

As far as where it all started, I have no idea. Poof coming from noweher makes as much since as a "God" starting everything to me.

I know a lot of people who believe in a combined effort of God and evolution though for creation. One problem I see with that is the blatant contradictions with the implications in Genesis. I guess you have to pick and choose what to believe.

Like I said though, not really sure.

For some reason i just cant wrap my mind around the big bang theory & that we came from amoebas.....Ive always thought that if life was created from the big bang then where did all the gases start from? If we evolved from amoebas or whatever else then how did they get here to begin with? I grew up in church believing that God created everything but then as i got older i started to wonder where God came from & how did all that get started so i guess i really dont believe anything or have a theory of evolution right now

I think the big bang has also its flaws, as who made the gaze that made the rest? And who caused the act itself of the big bang? I mean any motion has to be set by someone and even each reactions comes form an action, so I kwow I like to play the devil's advocat lol *wink* no offence intended.

in the begining there was a void, containing both evil and good. since the void is so damn massive the void itself wasn't aware of those forces within. the begining still exists, but since creation is used to thinking of mythical beings known as god and satan we have forgotten about the actual void that spawned what we know as the universe. having no begining or end the void simply 'is'. those forces that escaped did so without the knowledge of the void. the void being omnipatent as it is, it never realized something escaping from within itself. if you were that large, small things would not be enough to catch your eye or even care for that matter. like a rubberband the universe still expands, millions of years from now it will snap back imploding leaving nothing...nothing that is except the original void.

I believe the big bang theory and that this planets out of all the planets just within our galaxy we are the ONLY planet with life? To me thats just egotisstical.

However, I do believe that something started the chaos and helped bring order to the universe... call it God, Universal Mind or Energy, The God & Goddess... what ever something created the spark, that ignited the chaos and order to bring into an empty space!

I prefer the big bang theory, to god.
However though theres not really enough evidence to support ethier side.
Each point of view has many unasnswerd questions, but i do believe that the big bang or something similar will get proven eventually to be the offical way the world started.

I also think however if they did prove the big bang theory true they wouldnt nessercerly say, because then you would get religon extremeists etc. and it could crumble soceity causing many discomforts and confrontations between other religons.

The quantum physicists state that you can't have a universe without thought entering into it. Another way of stating this is that the universe arises from thought. The question is whose thought was at the beginnning? Would that not be God's?

Ideas like this, that make my head hurt, are like love to me. It is much more than the Big Bang theory. What about the the meatball-like rolling of the planets? What action made that? We take something and blow it up on this planet, and it takes intervention to put it back together. If there was an intelligent design for this planet, and we are supposedly molded from that same knowledge, wouldn't the rest of the rocks here have been rolled in such a way to support life? That is what our thought creates... as many chances as possible for success.

Schizophrenic tendencies aside, I find it easier to believe that some sort of energetic event made this planet, but this planet was choosen, out of the other ones in the solar system, for it's matching qualities to perhaps another planet humans belonged to.

We don't have the means to travel to these places yet. Our furthest traveling probe, which was not ment to travel so far, just left our solar system not to long ago. We can see these planets, and using our knowledge of chemicals and colors they give off under heat or atmosphere, we know that it could be posible that human life exists.

At this point, I believe it all. Everytime I think I have my mind made up on where we come from someone else tells me I am wrong. So, to make it easy I prefer to think of the way we got here my own way. I still won't stereotype people that think one way or another. That is there choice.

I have no idea how or where the universe began. I like to believe that the universe we are in is in constant change, and we are currently nearing the end of the expansion of space. Eventually all the plants and debris will begin their regression back to 'ground-zero', where yet another big bang will occur...

Now most people imagine a big bang like a gunshot - quick and loud. Well, in space it will be a bang of about a few million years (give or take). This big bang has probably happened several times over already. Exactly what it is, no human is capable of saying.

I don't like to think that some person created the whole thing, I more like to imagine nature created it. As humans we tend to think of a deity in our own image, which to me is absurd, because what would a deity need with hands feet and eyes in space?!

Personally I like to think of everything around me has happened by chance, and we should all cherish the life; the wonderful and remarkable world around us that we have. :)

Regardless of what you think, something had to come first. This is a question I have often contemplated. I have let my mind wander. This is where I wandered...

We know how old the earth is...in our years. We know how the earth started...they are working on recreation of the big bang in a laboratory in NY.

But, what came before the bang? Two particles collided in the vacumn of space and a planet formed? Where did these particles come from? God playing marbles? And where did space come from? Our universe? The untold number of universes we have yet to find...where did they come from? Here is my theory.

I believe the spirit (or soul) travels. It has always been my belief that I am working through something all my life. And, that the something will allow me to move on.

I also believe we share a collective thought process. Being the same species and spirit type, we communicate on a level we are not consious of. This forms our universe...the collective thoughts of all of us.

And where did these thoughts of "God" come from? Cave drawings show us that ancient man believed in a "higher" power. Maybe there is a spirit that guides us all. Maybe there is a "God" (I prefer Goddess!) Maybe the only way to reach the level of "God" is to learn the lessons that your spirit needs to improve and advance. Maybe that is why man has been trying to emulate "God" since organized religion began...to speed up the process of getting to "God".

Or, maybe I am just thinking too much!!!

I'm indifferent on the subject, but I do believe I'll branch off of the previous post here.

Why does something have to of been there first? Nothing's Impossible. It's only more logical that there was something there first, but that is only what we think is logical. We really have no idea. We still are looking for the basic laws that govern the Universe. And, we've contradicted ourselves so many times looking for them, it's not even funny anymore. Maybe we simply popped into existence.

There is a limit to what the human mind can comprehend, and don't try to think you are above that. There are simply some things we are not capable of figuring out either as an individual, a culture, or a society. Like how to program a VCR.

Well, don't let me be the Party Pooper, Carry On, Continue with your Narcissism.

There are some things on this earth that are constants. Gravity comes to mind.

It does not matter if we popped into existence or formed from hard nitrogen.

What matters is our brain allows us to wonder and imagine. This trait alone makes us unique.

Whatever theory you subscribe to is just that, a theory. I, for one, am glad that I have the knowledge to question the creation of us.

I have to agree with one of my favorite devil's advocates on this -- Sacred. Not only am I not stuck stirring my rice Krispies thinking of the beginning of life, the universe and everything but when the thought does arise, I speculate wholeheartedly that whatever wacky conjecture I come up with for the day is bogus.

I like the idea of the Big Bang theory... but then I have to accept theories of humankind being nothing more than parasites making the most of the living speck we reside on. I suppose I can understand why George Bush is so nervous about having a monkey for an uncle (heh heh).

I think two ugly ass molecules found eachother and had wild kinky sex and sprouted a huge ass baby...earth. Thats why it is so messed up.
No....thats not really what I believe. Honestly, I just think there is no documentation because it was so long ago. The big bang theory is logical, but it still seems like there is always something missing...so I dunno, I dun care, I am gunna go smoke no, thankyou.

Umm....I like the Big Bang as well as theories of Evolution....But It just kindof seems like It doesn't apply to people.....I mean.......Evolution makes sense......for animals.....but I've taken a good look and something doesn't add up.
It's like we Humans are missing a whole part of our history. Plus...I've seen some documentaries...linking Extraterrestrials.....with ancient Egypt.....and several scientists believe that our past lies in the stars......and I agree with them.......I think that We Humans are not native to this planet.

The chicken came first, imho.

If nothing exists then the only thing that does exist is the potential for all things to exist. In theory, all things exist and don't exist at the same time without an observer.

Therefore something must have existed for the big bang to occur at all, solidifying one choice over another.

Even for a universe where a definative nothing exists, there must be an observer, because otherwise all things still exist and don't exist.

Let's call this observer God.

However, if one observes without making a judgement call (ie unconditional love, or complete and utter detatchement), then everything can exist solely in the world of potential without one or the other event occuring at all.

This indicates that (if God loves us perfectly or is utterly detatched of interest from us) that what we know to exist must be deliberate as it is not an accident of observation.

So IMHO, god made chickens... there is no such thing as evolution... a chicken was always a chicken and not an egg layed by a reptile or fish etc.

Ooops... there must be a flaw there somewhere because I think i just used physics as a proof of God's existence... oh well... someone smarter than me will surely shoot it down, cuz i really wasn't intending to come from a physics angle, having never thoroughly studied occums razor, or uncertainty principle fully.

That is an old bastion of the athiest.

Either you must prove that wave packets existed eternally, or that something (ie God) existed eternally to observe potential so that it changed to reality.

I am postulating that it is more credible that there was an observer, than that matter has always existed.

The Bible mentions nothing about any other forms of life in the Universe, if I recall correctly, but that doesn't mean there aren't any.

Perhaps we are the second, third, thousandth experiment of God?

There are signs of what used to be life on Mars.

We can see 14 billion years into the past, beyond that, nothing. That's amazingly huge. Perhaps we will one day discover signs of life from other Solar Systems.

Our Solar System is too perfectly formed for life for it to be a fluke, in my opinion.

The theory of creation is a choice each of us makes to believe in. This is my belief...

Two particles impact in the vacumn of space...an explosion occurs...gas forms into a ball...

and so on

Big Bang all the way Baby!

Of course the question really is...where did those two particles come from and what exactly is space?

I think everything is based on both evolution and creation but how much of both is questionable. I think if you really look into it you will discover what you think is true. Though Creation Theory is based on religious beliefs it still a theory that could be looked at.

I am not directly sure what I believe in but I do believe in evolution.

I believe in the big bang theory of creation. That said, i also believe that the forces of chaos and randomness had already pre-determined this big bang event to happen but at no specific time or place and i also believe that chaos and randomness had already determined that life was just a part of that explosion, however, i do not feel that chaos and randomness had anything to do with the fact that our planet (and probably countless others) were the ones that were able to support life.

Scientists even now are finding palnets in our own solar system could indeed be capable of supporting microscopic life forms. So i would guess that almost all of the planets (obviously not the gaseous ones particularly, although scientists claim that microscopic life forms have been found on our own planet living in the most hazardous places) are all capable of supporting life in one shape or form. Whether they are a sentient being like the human race or not is another matter.

wow here it goes,i know iam going to hear it come back to me! i didn't know what to believe, until i heard a scientist state: that after the big bang theory-there was chaos-u can't have order out of chaos, without outside intervention! other words-a force not related to the chaos had to come in and get involved and put everything in order! chaos does not produce anything but, chaos...

I wrote an interestng article about this some time back... Consider this as a theory, what if the Universe was like an elastic band and when it gets to its final stretch it starts to come back on itself. Scary thought hmmm? Can the Universe continue to expand, is it infinate?

emerald,

your thought is true. there's even a theory (although i forgot the name) that the universe is expanding and when it reached its limit it will shrink back again. that theory is of the same level as the bigbang and other theories.

but the shrinking of the universe is millions of millions of years from now so we never will experience it.the universe is still in the stage of expanding.

and about the creation, its like asking which came first, the chicken or the egg. if you strongly believe in god, then you may answer that the chicken came first because in the bible, there was no statement that the egg came first. but your more into science, you may say that the egg came first because nothing can come into being without being young first.

so i believe that the answer lies in our faith

Again, I am a Christian and believe that a creator made us, GOD, if you will. I believe he may have made other life on other planets. The way I look at it is if we were suppose to know everything about everything, what would be the purpose of living? Without reasons to try and explain the unexplainable then how would we ever learn? Just my belifs:)
