I know someone who has a board and seen things happen and wonder if i wasnt to join the circle and just watch in the background would i still be affected?

Ouija boards are a tricky subject. Most will say it's bogus (and rightfully so) but then there are those "rban legends" and unexplained events that include any all participantsl sometimes even those not in the "know". I'm not sure how much of that was to keep parents scaring their kids into thinking that they will be in Excorcist V...
Nonetheless, I do not take them lightly.

when my brother used one he said that while taken a pic of one of the other people using it the face became distorted.

I think that the Parker Brothers ones (or whichever toy company markets them) sold over the counter are bogus boards. Set the board up and ask it a question without touching the cursor. I'll bet a buck that the cursor won't move an inch.

However, if someone who actually knew what they were doing made an ouija board, then I might be tempted to believe the board held any power at all.

well of course you would be affected in one way or another maybe not directly but a possibility of indirectly connecting with such or any entity that was contacted,depending if it tried to connect with you or even if it felt drawn to atach itself to you.

i dont believe in messing with anything i dont know of or can control, even if it can be a bogus one there always that chance...

I agree with darkwinged...I don't mess with something I can't control. I have seen too much messed up stuff using the board to not believe in it.

No one should take it soo lightly you must be prepared for any of the unforeseen consequences but me personally id rather never be in a room or be involved in such a thing unless it was a necessity. when you are in a room where it is being used or you using it you should be cautions for no one knows what he might be summoning...

well the ouijji board is hard to decid on cause some people say its real and some say its just bull shit but i do beleive that it does work but about the people thing i think thatr it depends on wat is going on

Don't believe in the board myself, but if I'm wrong any portal is dangerous.

I don't use the board often and do not take it lightly. When I do, I encircle both my property, my house, and then the people using the board with protection thru visualization. I then ask the Lord, The Lady, and my Spirit Guide to protect me. I ask for only high-vibrational spirits to come thru to speak to me, someone that can answer my questions. I don't ask for specific persons that have passed, they may not be at a place yet to communicate with me.

Witchcraft is in my family for years... and once one of my cousins used a ouija to call some family spirits... everything was ok, until she tried to call some living persons... she called my uncle, and he fainted on the street... it was very dangerous... and from that time, she feels the presence of spirits in her house... in fact if you go there, you can feel them too... it's pretty obvious...

having been present at times when MoonSong has used the board.. i can add a little to the discussion as far as someone being affected that doesnt join the circle ... IN MY CASE .. there was NO INVOLVMENT.. in fact .. there was one instance i can speak of .. that i didnt even know the board was in USE until after it was all over with LOL of course i wasnt IN THE SAME ROOM at that time .. but just around the corner :)

from my own experience.. i have nothing but GOOD experiences using the board... but that stems from the spirit contacted.. and lol i DONT have enuff space here to explain that .. but there were many occassions where there was someone in the room just as an observer when the board was used...

again .. i must reiterate the spirit being contacted .. and that the "events" that happened during these sessions were purely controlled by him... he was a very playful fellow to say the least .. and loved to "scare" certain individuals that observed at times.. my ex husband mostly...
when my ex would observe sessions.. there was usually alot of window tapping and footsteps across the room or down the hall. a couple of toilet flushings and a moved cigarette or two lol even the front door swinging open on a windless night ... with the door locked..

BUT ... that was this spirit in particular..

i would say that anyone in a room could be adversly affected .. whether participating or not .. unless someone took the steps that MoonSong takes when using..

I think the ouijji board is much like vodoo, if a person believes in the stuff good or bad may happen. This is not for me, bogus or not rather not tempt those who have passed. I myself respect those who passed .

yes, you will be affected. ouija boards are much more serious than many people think. don't take it lightly! I have seem some pretty freaky stuff happen from an ouija board before...

i never really had a chance to try my ouija board i bought an old one at a yard sale and my uncle who was a catholic priest tried to burn it it would not burn. i never seen it again though have no clue what he did with it

i had no real desire to ever use the board again.. i knew he couldnt be contacted.. and i knew no other experience was gonna top what we had with him ..

Ouija boards scare me. They are the only things in the art that I do not mess with anymore. Sure you can be affected and from my experience anyone in the room will be effected. Ouija boards are not something to play with. Be careful.

i think that in the right hands they can be very powerful. i ve always played with too many skeptics for it to really work.

but my girlfriend had told me stories of when her and her friends used it. they had a recurrent person they talked to... and one time they all went to a hotel, adn someone kept knocking and running away. and they asked the ouiji board who it was. it gave them a number. they went to that room and left a mean note on that room numbers door. later that evening they met up with a group of ppl at the pool and over heard them talking about the note. so she asked them if they were really knocking and they said yes.

I agree, messing with a Ouija board is not something to be taken lightly, everyone in the room, even watching will be affected.

I also know not to doubt the board. When my daughter was younger I was told a lot of bad things about it so i thru it in the trash, the next morin i got up and it was sittin on the dinnin room table, from then on that made a beleiver out of me.

there is no such thing as a bogus ouija board. you can scratch the letters onto the table and use a coffee cup, and it will still work.

i believe that the boards are a double edged sowerd i do believe thay have the power to see the past and the future as well as the present but i also believe ppl put alot into the boards as well thay unwillingly push the pointer twords the answer thay want to hear

Never had anything bad happen using my ouija board which I've had over 30 years. We've always did protection around us first and no issues........... so far.

Having had an experience that scared the crap out of 4 of us at a Oui Ja board experience.. it effected a part that was of physical matter, outside the circle, So I believe it could cast on to Any physical matter.
including Human.
Be REALLY careful if you're going to take part and ensure you and EVERYONE involved or in the room, protects yourselves spiritually.
None of us fully understand this force.. But I have seen ONE thing happen when I did this board with 3 other friends.. it scared us all to near passing out.. and we immediately destroyed the board.
I have also used a board since, and got nothing at all from it.

parker bros, waddingtons, or homemade - they all work. you can use letters from a scrabble board, and it will still work. don't ask me why or how - i might tell you.

I've always been interested in Ouija Boards but never got involved with them.

some people say its say its real. some people say its not. All i know is that people shouldn't mess with them when thier dunk, cuz people get hurt.

I haven't used a board in years, there are plenty of other ways to talk to spirits, but when I was young it was a favorite pastime. I have never had a board go flying across a room or any thing like that, although I have seen the movie "Witchboard" where many of the Ouija urban ledgends come from. They are perfectly safe, it is the people using them who may be more interested in getting freaked out than in actual spirit communication. Naturally anyone who is using a board should take precautions and should be choosy about the type of spirits they talk to cause there are nasty things are low level thoughtforms that will be thrilled to talk to you, but as long as you are looking for a positive outcome, that is exacty what you will get.

Anyone that is in the vicinity of a Ouija board being used is going to feel or see any effects that come about it, whether you're watching or participating.

I don't know...I see a bunch of people sitting around something that is basically a slab of thick cardboard with a strip of paper glued to the top of it, a plastic triangle with a hole in the top of it, and they're all touching it....I just...Can't take it seriously.

Any one in the house would probably be affected by the board depending on what they would bring into the house...

You would not have to be in the circle to be affected by something like that. As long as you were in the room, you would be affected in one way or another.

I thought the oak was more in relation to the Faerie realm but it's probably for more than one purpose *shrug*

Ouija Boards in any shape, size, color, or who ever makes it are not toys for ANYONE to play with.

They are nothing more then open doors to to places and dementions and times that have no right being in our world.

Yeah sure you might get it curser to move a time or two..it might give you a name.
But there is nothing stoping whom or what ever is coming through from lieing about who or what they are.

also. Just because you put the board away does not mean that the door way has been closed. NOOO! Once open it stay s open until the board is distroyed and the ashes scatterd over purifyed ground.

even the parker brothers boards can allow the non living to communicate in very not cools ways. Me and a few friends had a experience with a parker brothers board that made me never touch one again. I wont even be around them. The boards are a channel for negative energy and beings and if you wanna mess with the non living use a safer method like a pendulum and protection candles because using dark methods to communicate is not safe.

I forgot to say. If you really wanna see something evil happen with a ouija board try to use one from the 60's pr 70's and you will see some scary shit. By the way anyone that is reading this should know I do not in anyway suggest doing this. I actually warm anyone not to do it. Use 60's and 70's ouija boards at your own risk.

You might be...pretty much anything can be affected. Although your presence might also affect how well their working with the Ouija board works.

A circle of protection should be put around everyone in the room befoe proceeding with any kind of things like this....

I would definatly say any one intended the ouija board circle would be most infected and a part of what ever happens but , only bad happens to those who let it in, you have to protect ur self and the other s while around the circle of the ouija board just like when casting any spells Trustme im a very experience person with Ouija

I've done ouija boards many times, but for some reason it only works when I make the board. And as far as you being affected even though you don't join... It's happened to a friend who was watching me and another friend. Her eyes started to change color. It was the weirdest thing.

I made my own once... the letters were shaped with my blood, I will never do that again,,,,,,,,,,, I let a demon in who followed me for awhile until I stopped acknowledging him.

I myself believe there are true users of the quija board, and there are true boards... Have I ever seen one or experienced anything around the manufactured kind.. nope.

personally i was raised that either using the ouija board or being in the same room is a bad thing. no matter what you are affected somehow. messing with one opens you up to many evil things getting in you. it is really a giant risk being around one.

i myself believe that what can be done with the board can and will happen, i owned one when i was younger and it always scared the crap out of me. partly because of the lask of understanding and partly because of the things i saw. i was fortunate enough that who i spoke to wasnt out to harm but instead out to enlighten me. i used it alone and always talked about things that i wouldnt know the answers to. and after each session i would research to see if it was true. but they are very dangerous you never know what you are going to get out of it. its kind of like talking to the dead though a sceance (i cant spell) or having so called ghosts or presences in your home. you dont know what your going to get. the line between the living and the dead is a thin one and a lot of the ones on the other side of this line will do almost anything to get back here.

I personally put no faith into the Oujia Board. As many times as I've played around with them, nothing out of the norm has happened.

I once played with an ouija board with some friends of mine. We were at my one friend Ann Marie's house, and when our mutual friend Jennifer went to touch the cursor, it kept moving away from her! When I announced openly that I didn't believe this was real, the cursor lept off the board and struck me in the face. Frightened to death, both Ann Marie and Jennifer ran from the room, saying prayers.

That was when I burst out laughing and held up the cursor by the thin, black thread I had tied to it when nobody was looking.

Neither Ann Marie nor Jennifer will talk to me anymore LOL!

Who ever is in the house, in contact or not with the board, as long as the board itself is there, trouble isexpected, it is as already stated a portal, and it opens a door you dont wanna open, it opens it in the house itself, to all its occupants, regarless if they particiapte or look, or just sitt on the floor above. It is a dangerous thing, should be ban..but this is up to you. A scary peice of what ever it is made off, a portal for demonic activities and demons themselves.

I am so glad to see so many people who are aware of the dangers. The Ouija board is a tool that should only be used by those who are practiced in white lighting themselves, or any other kind protection for themselves and participants. It can be a wonderful tool in the right hands, but otherwise, beware. I truly cannot stress this enough. If you believe in it, then you be affected whether it is real or not. I hae had some interesting experiences that I couldn't peg down to truth or the human mind playing tricks, but I know that even if I had just been watching I would have experienced the same feelings.

If you aren't sure about it, then don't do it- and make sure that you trust these people- I have known people use ouija boards just to deliberately scare people, and your worries suggest that you wouldn't handle that well.

I believe in ouija boards and that they are nothing to mess with. Make sure you know full well what you are getting into before participating in using one or being around anyone who is. If you are in the vicinity, you can be affected just as you were participating yourself.

I have had very bad experiences with quija boards and when I first used one, it was the worse... bad thing was, I didn't believe in it and thought it was all bs. I learned differently.

it is not so good to meddle in these things if you are present you are participating.one should know what they are doing before venturing into such things un less it is one of those cheap board game type ones then its all your imagination those hold no power

As stated by many here, it is not a thing to meddle with, and I strongly agree with this , Have seen stuff with this facination but it has never turned out good. Be fore warned spirits are very tempramental when angered or aroused.

The Ouija board like anyoother thing can be dangeriouse and spirits dont like to be bothered and contacted at the wrong time it will let u know , I had to burn one once a time ago, but i have m y other one tucked away , It is scary

sprits are very tempermeantal and i would sugesst leaving them alone and if you do use it to call someone make shure you get the right number

I would also exercise caution in the use of the boards. When i was using one regularly i would always do it outside in an empty field.

I also used to use a paper pointer so i could destroy it afterwards and of course, never use a glass.

As for affecting other people, if you are in an enclosed space it can but if you aren't you should be fine so long as you aren't touching someone involved

My friends and I were at a sleep over and someone brought a Ouija board. I sat on the sidelines watching because I believe that you shouldn't mess with things you don't understand, but then the board starting saying things that only I and my late boyfriend would know about.

In my opinion, ouiji boards more often than that do not produce any connection between a spirit. Maybe it is just merely tapping into your subconscious or perhaps it just goes to show that your friends are not trustworthy when it comes to not pushing the pointer. Don't get me wrong, I am open to the idea that sometimes it works, but for the mass produced boards and the maturity of the individuals using them does dilute the percentages.

Ouija Boards are VERY dangerous. People are so curious to know what'll happen if you use one, but trust me, it's not worth it to try it. You can possibly even die. And no, I'm not making this up. I've played one, and I swore that I'd never do it again. If I were you, I wouldn't be anywhere near one to get rid of the temptation.

The curiosity created from Quija boards is very immense, but as any intelligent person could tell you, messing with one isn't of your best interest. I'm a dumbfuck and play with them on ocassion, but the consequences could be lethal, depending on the spirit. I once read in the news that a family let a demon into their house and all ended up in the hospital for moderate injuries. The genuialtiy of this story is unknown, but close resources have claimed similar events.
