If this is an indignation about being immortal, then this would be speculation in my opinion. "vampires" are only immortal in movies and books. Trueblood may live longer than the average individual, but by no means are immortal.

Immortal def a Hollywood creation to create more fear. And even Hollywood vamps die. They are not immortal but just have alot longer lifespans (unless Van Helsing or Buffy are around then their lifespan seems to be about 15 minutes :P)

Thankyou Carsho, you took the words out of my mouth. As death is inevitable, vampire or no, everyone dies...If you are an unlucky sort, then several can die around you at once. From airline crash's to earthquakes. It is a normal occurance. I think it would require a bit of reiteration on the posters end, to understand its meaning.

what would be normal to you -- i do understand -- how do i explain this -- i'm not talking about people dieing --- i'm talking about death -- people taking away from us -- never to return --- and we just keep on going -- again my question is -- hoe do you deal with it ? the lose -- and it never ends .

Who says they never return?

While we don't know what happens when you die, mainly because most of us haven't, that doesn't mean nothing happens.

If worst comes to worst, take comfort in whatever your personal beliefs regarding an afterlife are. That's one of the reasons religions came to exist after all.

There seems to be something on your mind that you have come here to deal with personally. If you are depressed, then just say so...If you are going through the death of a loved one at the moment, just say so...But if it is venting you desire, the journal is a click away.

What brought this discussion on in your mind is what I am trying to get you to post.

everyone seems to be pointing out that death is a common occurance. i think what the original poster is trying to ask is just a general 'what's the best method of coping?' thing.

personally, my two favorites are either suck it up and drink heavily. hah.

as with all things....everyone deals with the death of a loved one in different ways. My grandmother died in June. Most of the family was sad....crying. I did not. I was happy that she was gone, she no longer suffers....as she had been. I knew her better than most of them. She wanted to be dead for quite some time. Death brought her the peace she needed and longed for.
But each person is different and i also think each death is differnt. If one of my children died..... my reaction and method of dealing with it would be different than when my grandmother died.

Its not for everyone, and most just cant stomach it. but if they arent someone you love, just think.. wouldnt you want someone you love to be cared for with diginity if even you couldn't do it yourself. there is no shame in it

you can't really tell another how to deal with the death of loved ones, Vampire or not, we all face the fact of losing people we love. How we deal with it is a journey we must take on our own, finding ways to cope is up to the individual.

When someone dies you would have to go through the whole grief and loss process whether immortal or mortal. I think that finding iner piece is the key no matter who you are. You just have to say goodbye and move on. Death is part of life. You can accept it or be miserable. That’s all there is to it.

Well let me start by saying, I am not a vampire or any thing like that I am only a 15 year old human. I believe that immortality is a creation of authors and the people of hollywood to make their movies/books more interesting or scary.
I guess some people or vampires can live longer then ordinary people, but everyone has to go through the grief process during his or her life. I am only 15 and my four grandparents have passed away in a span of three years, my great grandmother has recently passed away as well and I have also lost an aunt. I deal with grief the same way normal people do, at first you will cry we all do it is only normal but I find the best way to deal with something like this is to do something to occupy yourself to take your mind off things, for me, it was reading, since I started reading and writing to take my mind of things such as death and grief I have accumulated over 250 books. That is just what I think about all of this you people may disagree....

People die every day. There is nothing we can do about it but to embrace their memories and what they have taught us and move on. Our hearts are heavier for the loss but if we don't keep going we are no better than those that have passed.

Immortality, is a creation of the minds of those who put a bad name to vampires. Vampires die, it's impossible to live forever, no matter what you are. The body dies and decays. It's inevitable no matter the mind, spirit, and soul it encases.

You just have to look at the loss as a part of life, I've lost well over 20 friends in the past ten years. Death will catch us all.... sooner or later. It doesn't do well to dwell on the pain. You just have to take comfort that new friends and family will come and that you might see the old ones when your time comes.

On January 5th of this year, at 1:38 in the morning, the exact time of my birth years earlier, I stood over an young gunshot victim. I watched him die. Despite my best efforts, and all of the efforts of those around me, there was not a goddamn thing I could do to save him.
Since, besides the friends or relatives that I have lost, I have worked numerous traumas and arrests. Some were saved, many were not. Don't judge anyone over their reaction to death if you haven't actually witnessed it. If you haven't actually experienced the passing from life to death, and the helplessness that comes from not being able to prevent it, then don't try your posing here.
Sorry, didn't mean to preach.

First, we are mortal in life span. Where we are immortal is in quality of life. We are the risk takers, the defiant, willing to take the chances that lesser people give up.
Second, we are unique in that we do not desire the need for acceptance by the masses, we are happy being ourselves.
Third, we are primarily nocturnal, though we may function (work, shop, excerise) during the day we experience a resurgence of life in the eve.

Enjoy the night!

R

my Mentor has 4th stage cancer. I have been praying for her but i don't think she is going to stay much longer. She is a powerful force. I know she will come through to me when she moves on.
I believe in sending love to people i have lost. I have a friend who lost her daghter at six weeks. another lost her son to cancer at 4. i can't imagine the pain. these souls come through to them.
I believe it causes the ones who have passed pain when we are depressed about their passing. Imagine if you did something that caused some one you care about pain. You would not want that. i believe it is important not to prolong grief because it might cause the one who has passed to feel pain.
At my passing, i will ask that loved ones pray for the grief to pass, then celebrate the memories we made, and send me lots of love, hugs, and kisses.
it's my take on this....

vamp or not, wathcing people around u die is a hard and painful thing. whether u live longer or not doesnt really matter. I have lost many people all ready, and it kills me inside. for me to be immortal (if it were possible) would be the same feeling, only u never get your own release of death.

Watching people die can be quite painful, but you just have to believe that they are in a better place now and they are o.k. Shouldn't dwell on the dead, it really is a lost cause. Remember them for who they were.

i agree with alot death is apart of everyones life, i've learned that the best way to deal with death is to just face it and let the emotions come out as soon as possible, helps you recover faster in my opinion, that and understanding that death to me atleast is just a change in form, that always helped alot.

As to whether "vampires" live longer then the "normal" human life span, it is just rhetorical as all die and pass to another level of being. Death comes to all, sometimes sooner and unexpected to those surviving the death. Death is inevitable to all that are born. Be they "vampire" or human.

Each of us deal with grief differently.

I cant explain how you get over it, you just do. You have to.

In my job, I get very close to people, and eventually, every single one of them die.

If I went to every funeral of a patient I took care of, I'd be insane. Literally.

The first few that died on me, who I was close to, was so devestating I had to take time off work.

Now, I enjoy the time I have with my patients, & once there gone, I try not to think about it.

Like everyone has said, it's inevitable, death comes to us all. Just try not to dwell on it & enjoy what you have.

you, me.. we're all part of 'the One.'
so when someone dies, the return to the central source.. that said.. how can anyone fear death?
..
and yes, I too have witnessed it, at first hand.

People can fear death easily, like for the reason of being scared of being trapped in infinate nothing. In the case there isn't an after life.

As pointed out several times, death is simply a part of life. If it is truly the end then it completes the circle of life. If there is an afterlife or eternity, then death is only a small part of that circle. But, as has also been said, no matter what you believe, you can never know for sure until you die.

I believe it's hard to fathom to fear or understand something what is not known. This is why Vampires are so desireable - we can make them any way we want them in order to appease us for us to accept them in the horror we will accept them in.

My grandmother turned 97 years old this year. She has buried her parents, her brothers and sisters, her husband, her children and even some of her grandchildren. She wonders sometimes why she's still on this earth.. yet she goes on because it's just what we do. We lose people.. and we deal with it and go on. We accept death as part of the cycle of life.. in whatever sense comforts us.. and we go on.

Death is a fact of life. Everyone has to learn to deal with it no matter how long or short their own life might be. Everyone copes with loss differently, and noone can tell you what is the right or wrong way to handle death of a loved one.

Nothing lasts forever!

death-well after a while you become used of it in fact you become numb and lose such emotions but can be happy in knowing somehow they still exist be it in a memmory or in a higher aspect of life for it would be sad if they were done once their body decomposed.

immortality-we can only hope that if there is a immortallity fo certian beings be it in the current body which you spirit lives in or in reincarnation that your spirit may live on in other shapes and forms that hope should not be lost most people have a vast misconception about immortality particularly the role players.

what can we do-enjoy life and when death comes for you enjoy that too and don't think of it as an ending but a beginning.

"Even that which can eternally lie may die." -H.P. Lovecraft-

The deaths of loved ones can not be avoided by anyone, unless you die as an infant. We all have to find our own way of dealing with these deaths. Here are some things that I believe, they may help you. Death is only the death of the body, the soul or spirit lives on. That person also lives on in our memories we will always have a part of that person with us. You can't avoid the sense of loss but you can temper it with your memories of them and the knowledge that they continue on in another form for energy can neither be created or destroyed it merely changes form.

Not like reincarnation....

I don't claim to be an immortal vampire. I also don't believe in physical immortality throughout one life.
There comes a point in any mortal life where you just get used to death. it happens so often, and you eventually learn to accept it or you get torn apart.

One would think it would be the same for an immortal, right? With such tragedies, and our world going to shit...I think any immortal would have to become at least a little callous.

Vampires are mythical, so this thread is a bit confusing. I personally don't deal with death very well. Most of my family is gone. I know death is a part of life, but I hate it. I think people should be able to live longer lives with out pain or suffering. Biologically, our body isn't meant to break down. But there is a trigger in the DNA which hasn't been isolated yet, that "triggers" deterioration to begin. It's some complex stuff, but extremely interesting. Death is basically caused by mutating DNA. Some day, it will be contained and we won't have to say goodbye. Now there is something to think about.

Everyone lives and dies.
Everyone deals with death differently.
You cannot expect that others will deal with it the way you do.....or that you should deal with it as they do.

I just say, deal with it the best you can. If you are stuck here after people have died......then you have to go on. You live, you eat, you manage.
If it makes it better stop thinking about that person.....
If it helps keep their spirit alive in you.....think about them everyday.....
This is a question that there is no one answer too......

I have watched a large number of my family and friends die, my father my first wife and so many of my pets. Does this mean that as I am still living that I am Imortal, well guess so until I pass away. Everyone and everything passes from this life to another life. The question should be are we Imortal for living or is the loved ones who have moved to another relm the imortal ones.

If so then cleanse yourself and ground and center yourself and this should help out some, but u still have to face the death of a loved one and deal with it.

Immortality can only exist in those other realms, it is physically impossible for the vessel we call a body to last beyond a few decades. As pointed out before, the longest anyone has lived in their human body is just over 120 years, and that is a true rarity. Most will never get close to 100.

It was a big relief when my father died. He got the death he deserved, unloved and alone, and all my misspent passion in his direction evaporated. Gone. Not one more moment of anger, angst or anxiety.

My mother's approaching death, however, is filled with guilt --- hers, and pity --- mine. She never wanted to be a burden to her children, and stubbornly clings to her independence when it is unsafe and foolish for her to do so.

I hope she dies in her sleep with all her nasty dogs around her.

I am fortunate to have a brother with whom I will be able to get drunk, tell rousing stories on Mom, and weep, and drink some more. She's donating her body to science, and they will cremate her and send us her ashes.

She wants us to scatter them in the bars and nightspots of Santa Fe.
