I have noticed that a lot of people are inactive. I have noticed a lot of people register and don't stay members.
Does any notice that there are people here that do not serve a purpose in guiding the goal of networking and having a database? Instead they act in ways that are completely against it. I personally view that they are wasting bandwidth that the rest of us could more efficiently use.

On the other side of the coin I have noticed a lot of really active members on here and also people that have been here for years or even from the start. I have noticed some people really enjoy the lifestyle of being a Vampire.

As I understand it (correct me if I am wrong) VR is a place that is supposed to help people who are interested in all things Vampire and a few other things that are (or may be becoming) the main purpose here. Is this not a place to learn from each other? Are we supposed to be enhancing the database?

Okay, why do people have attitude problems with the features of VR or when the features are being discussed?


Are you here because someone wants you to be? Are you here to learn?

I am personally here because I enjoy Vampiric movies, arts, way of living, etc. I enjoy being able to talk with people of like mind. I love the idea of compiling as much information about one or topics into one place. I came across VR years ago and became addicted immediately. Granted if VR shut down today, tomorrow or next month I wouldn't think the world is over. I just enjoy it.

I'm here for much of the same reasons as you. I don't believe in vampires, or much less dig the lifestyle thing, but to each his or her own.

I bust on it a lot due to peeps who like to profess that they are 200 year old immortals...but overall, I dig VR.

I think some folks get talked into joining by thier mates and then get bored with it and become inactive.
Others may have real lives*lol* and not have a whole lot of time to be here.Such as myself for instance, I attend uni. plus I work as a nurse.When and if I do have spare time, I am here. So I don't think most folks choose not to be here, they have other responsibilities and obligatiions.
Some just want a place to belong or fit in for whatever reason. It's a free place to hang out and meet folks. I truly don't think anyone here is wasting bandwidth as you put it.
I appluade Cancer for putting up with us and letting us waste his bandwidth*lol*
No place that opens it doors to others for free is a waste of anything my friend.
Tolerance is always a good virture to have.

i'm here to be aceepted, i've been here over two years and i have finallt found a coven to love me and a reason to stay who i am.

I joined because a couple of my 'scene' friends made me join. They left and I stayed because I wanted to learn and wanted to make a difference, no matter how little it was and this seemed like a place I could do it in one way or another.

I loved the fact that some people actually on here cared what a person had to say about a certain topic.

I used to spend all my time on VF and now, I don't even have an account on there.

It's VR all the way! LOL!

I like talking to fairly intelligent people, as well as reading the rants of those who are left lacking.

Its just a different type of experience, gotta sift through the crap to get to some quality, as well as get some entertainment out of it.

I am a member of vr because I have found a place where I can feel like home ,and be comfortable,
I like it here,
it is relaxing and enjoyable

Mainly the first first reason when I came on was for a friend, cause she lives the lifestyle and I was curious, then I discover (and this is why I stayed) that this is me....this lifestyle is me and the paranormal is what I am in.

So I stayed cause I felt at home and can learn and teach. I can share knowledge to help others and to be help.

I also come on to release stress, this is only the internet for me. I got a real life outside the net and here. So this place allows me for a short time to be me the real me without boudaries (unless the ones of common sens) It is also a place where I don't worry about my reputation or my boss rep or where I work rep. It don't matter.

I can be me. I do not have to be the perfect nurse the sweet and perfect understanding woman who has to be silent when a patient roll over my toe or when I get smak by another be of the medecin or the side effects.

I do not have to worry about the life of the person I speak with. I wont risk killing or have to save a life. (yes if I speak to a suicidal person I will help)

But Vampire Rave is for me home,when I can take my blankie and a cookie with my friend and chat enjoy and play.

none of my friends really get it, they dont see the appeal of VR and somewhat ridicule me when i log in.

that means i like VR enough to defend it from my friends. oh well not everybody can get refferal points on here.

Hey, I referred someone who just dropped out too...oh well. Initially, I came to the Rave because I wanted to get info on vampires and vampire lore.

I was here once before and came back because someone i met on another site asked me to come back again and now...I'm glad i did because I'm actually meeting some fun and intelligent people....aside from the discussions and conversations in the forums. It's the sharing of ideas and thoughts and getting to know others in a more mental and emotional level i enjoy as well.

im here for me non one else. im here to get away from idiots and to be around ppl who share my interests

I am here because I find some very interesting people. I have made some great friends on here, a few that I do keep in contact with outside of VR... I also am here for the learning experience. I have talked to a lot of very intelligent people who have taught me alot.

I have a huge interest in Vampires. I found this site from another site. I love learning all I can about Vampires.

I came to VR because my GF is here, but I have always liked vampire movies. I also am into the paranormal and i am wiccan. Vr has become more than just vampires it has become a site for the paranormal and withcraft also

I joined because, in simplest terms, I was intrigued. I wasn't that into vampires yet and actually didn't have that much interest in meeting new people...but something here caught me. So I stayed. And because I stayed I've discovered so much more about myself and have found several people that I now consider close friends.

The reason why I am a member of Vr is to learn more about Vampires/ ghost/ werewolfs/ psychic energy/ the supernatural and meeting alot of people that I can become friends with that have the same similair notions of what VR is about and to learn what others know when I might not know about ceratin aspects of the supernatural around us

i'm here to give and to receive... knowledge... i do not post much now, in the main forum, 'cause in the beginning (since i became a member) i posted some thoughts of mine that were considered by many "not too acceptable"... so, why bother myself??? i have an open mind to listen and to speak in good terms... but if someone can't accept my way of thinking... oh well... but, even so, i enjoy being here and know nice people and exchange thoughts and experiences... and by the way, The World is a Vampire... muah ah ah aaahhh... x)

I give props to the admin. they kept me here. As an inspiring writer I see the building of a data base, any data base, to be a tool against writer block, had I stable finances I would have a PM, The Goth flavor is a bonus for me as well.

I seem to remember seeing a thread like this in the sandbox not to long ago and I joined cause a friend had a link on her myspace I clicked joined and stayed and sorry but I agree with Soul lol

I'm a new Member here at VR.

I think the reason many are not active is because they actually need to do something--plus whilerating some profiles, I see some are thinking this is some sort of vampire dating service. People tend to join things on a whim without reading what it is about or what it entails.

Someone in one of my other groups mentioned VR and I came to check it out. Usualy I am not one to join Groups, but after reading the VR Manual I found this group uses a different approach than the other Vampire type Communities. I'm not easily impressed, but after seeing all of the work put into this Realm, decided to check it out and join--that was on Sunday.

So far, I am glad I did. I hope to learn more, meet friends who have the same interests and put as much time and effort into VR as I can.

PS: I am missing some posts as well. They seems to vanish and re-appear at various intervals. :)

Vampire Rave is an online database for everything vampire, and an online community. Personally, I joined out of boredom, met friends, and stayed for friends. Everyone has their own reasons for joining VR and/or staying.
For someone who claims to enjoy the site and what it has to offer, and claims to be contributing, what are you contributing by bitching in this thread about what YOU don't like? Sounds as though it would be better suited as a journal entry/rant!

I'm also here to meet people that may think like me. I've had good luck so far and have made quite a few good friends on VR.
I have also come across some Jerry Springer like characters as well.

I do not believe I am a vampire, and I am not really interested in the life style. I just think vampires are interesting, I have always loved reading novels based on them and watching the movies. I just came here to learn more about the myths and legends surrounding the vampires, and maybe even find out about some good books. Then I met some people on here that I talk to on a regular basis and that's one the main reasons I have stayed on this site.

I am here becuse I like talking to other people. I like puting my poems on my web page and looking at other peoples web pages

I am here to make friends that are different than the norm, but not too far out there. People that are dreamers, poets, artists and with abilities. This is my main place of communication and friend contact.

I first joined much the same reasons as every one else, to learn more about vampires and in turned it became that i learned about myself. I stayed because i became very close to so many here. lol persay i became part of the woodwork lol persay :P

I reply: I do not consider myself to be wasting bandwidth because I have spurts of inactivity. As I stated in a prior forum post, I work close to 70 hours a week in addition to going to school full time. When I can, I get on VR and read the forum posts. I reply to the discussions I find interesting, such as this one. There are some threads that I read, but do not reply to because I have no knowledge of the discussion at hand.

I now reply: I absolutely agree with you on this. This should be a place to learn from each other and we should be enhancing the database. Unfortunately, despite any inclinations otherwise, we are all human and are not always going to get along. While we should be learning, we will instead focus on what we do not like about each other and focus on proving ourselves right and everyone else wrong. Isn’t that just pointless and stupid?

I finally reply: Other than the above argument (we are all human), I have no idea why the attitude is necessary. I figure, if people don’t like it they can form their own darn website and leave VR to those who enjoy it. Also, I am here because I want to be. I enjoy the discussions I am involved in (or I would not participate in them) and I also enjoy reading different beliefs regarding vampires, whether energy vampires, fictional vampires, or mythological vampires.

Some parts of this site are like eavesdropping in a coffee shop full of opinionated and unruly customers. I find that entertaining; I don't know why.

I do get tired of everyone sucking up to the Prince and his bandwidth. This is a business. There's lots of advertising.

My girlfriend (XmidnightsXloveX) and I were just discussing that. I came to compare fact with fiction and examine the parallels between.

Why am I here? Well...when it all boils down to it, it is kinda hard for me to chose one reason why I am here. For the start, I came here originally because I was curious. One of my friends IRL is here and she happened to mention VR. I originally started on VF, which I never go onto anymore because it is much to "myspace" and has too many of the idiots that I try to avoid, but I digress. To be honest, I STAY here because I like the place. At first, I admit, I was getting frustrated with how long it takes to advance sometimes. I will admit that I am not the most active member here, due to lives, the recent acquisition of a job and what not, however, for me, the question is not why I am here, it's more of why I stay. You see...I have found a group of people, and was fortunate enough to come across a wonderful person who directed me to this group of people, that I have come to cherish over the past few months that I've been here.

I guess, the reason I stay, is because of the people I meet on a day to day basis. See...while I'm not here all the time, I do try to come and check up on things at least once a day. And while I understand that I don't really have a lot of posts and what not, I do try and post as much as time will allow me to. But...I'm getting off topic again. So...in a nutshell, the reason I came here was out of curiosity. I wanted to see what this place was about, and after falling inlove with the place itself, and the people I've met here, who have become so dear to me in this short amount of time that I have been here, I am looking foreward to a long time here in VR.

I am also here because I love all things vampire. I have learned alot of thing regarding the vampire way of life. I have seen movies on here i've never heard of and books i've never seen. I like how most people are laid back and most people don't ever think other stupid for the questions they ask. This is so much better then myspace and such because they all seem to be a site where people are just looking to "hook up" with others. Here you make actual friends and have things in common to talk about and most of the time you don't have to worry about someone just trying to hook up with you and all that other cyber stuff people do.

Oh yes...I forgot to mention the fact that I am here due to fascination with vampires. I think it is safe to say that pretty much all of the people here, save a select few, have an intrest in the life style, or at least the stories and what not about vampires. Yeah...and it's always fun to learn about and meet new people that share the same interests as yourself.

i am here and i participate in the database and in networking..i joined for the main reson of finding likeminded friends if not more to communicate and socialize with the only drawback is somtimes there are discriminations to certian members because of their beliefs or practices that they choose,all in all we are all individuals an no one alike in the same and alls we can do is try to undertsand the different characterisitcs and personalities that we all have and enjoy.
i for the most part enjoy my membership here on the rave and admit i too have even learned a thing or too.

I was introduced to the site through a friend who suggested that I may find this community welcoming and interesting. She wasn't wrong.

I haven't been here for very long, but I love the site. I don't want to leave and I am happy to continue to stay. I am always on the look out for anything to do with vampires to help add to the data base.

I got a PM so I can support the site rather than for the benefits of having a good profile.

I also know I am a Psy vamp. Although I think we all are. So it has been a learning experience meeting others who have taught me how to manipulate and control energy. :)

I am sceptical of people who say they are 1000 year old vamps or those that have claimed to be bitten by one. I think the mythical Vampire is just that a myth. But I do understand that there are blood drinkers out there and yes I do agree they are vampires.

As to why people join just to knock the site or join and not participate. Well don't we get that in all areas of society? People that join groups to give off their over inflated opinion on things. Or those who join because their friends said to... only to be bored and leave as quickly as they join. I think the VR community is never going to be exempt from this so it is either a case of put up with it. Or delete them.

I've noticed many of the same things you've metioned above many ppl are finaky so to speak when it comes to biting, answering questions that are answered in their profiles or ports.

many ppl feel if they pay money for something they shouldn't get all the extra bull I personally don't mind being bitten... I just see it as an alert that they want to talk or they are on and wanted to me to know see I lurk an awful lot on the rave b/c I'm mainly here to talk to certain ppl u very rarely see that I'm "Not lurking" it's just a prefrence of mine.

I am an open book but it does get on my nerves when ppl rate my page and say nice job but... then ask me questions that I've answered in my profile.

I mean some ppl are finaky w/ the whole using a tag that u created b/c they they just don't find it to be origanal they see it on everyones page and they hate seeing the same comment but on the flip side

ppl say I don't care what u think about my rating prefrence I will use it b/c I pay to have the right to use it and u can down rate me for it if you choose to it's small stuff like that.

it's just a tad stressful if u ask me especially if they block you because u sent them a bite to let them know u wanted to talk to them

The reason why I'm here:

I came to VR a while ago because I often wanted to chat with those who believed in things that i did I wanted to find people who wouldn't mind discussing different topics such as Magic/religion/and theories people who where as open minded as myself I hate being judged in the outside world I believe that people need to open there eyes get a grip and chill out.

I am very much in to the paranormal, I'm more so alone on this journey I do have one friend however helping me along... I long to find my path in life there has been so much change, so many hardships I just want to find where I belong I believe that the Goddess can help... I want to search inside of me and find who I really am who I'm meant to be and I think that learning about wicca and ancestry as well as the things like mythology healing and different gifts that people have or claim to have will bring me one step closer to getting to know myself I want to practice wicca to see what I'm comfortable with I was never me in church or singing in the choire, I didn't feel the same spirit that everyone arround me seemed to express... and I hated facking it just to please my mother and make her believe that I was something that I'm not. I am me and tho I know she'll never except it I'm going to follow through with this and hopefully find myself through VR and friends on VR.

I was brought here by a friend.. and I imediately liked it.. at first I found it interesting to grow up in levels... after that I discovered that I can personalize my page in a way that people will know who I am... after that I discovered the coven life...

Now I want to make Sire and to start my own Coven.. wich will be in a short time ( i guess)

I somehow ended up here by accident. Since then I am enjoying what the Vampire Rave has to offer. It is a great society. I must admit if I havent invented that unique user name I would have self-deleted from the day one. After that everything else flowed like spring water. It feels like the stars brought me here. My whole impression of this unique and innovative web page are overall positive, and the impression continues to improve with every year me being a member of the Vampire Rave. It is a splendid place to waste time. Vampire Rave is in my blood now, and it will stay that way until a fatal car accident parts us away depriving me of the control over my precious profile.

In the begining , I had stumbled upon this place while looking up different topics on the internet. Basicly, I have been here for two years , with a short pause , I ended up having to work my way back up once again. I enjoy coming here when I can. It is somewhat adictive.

This was one of the first places had ever joined. I have found much information here and met so many wonderful , and intelligent people.....some have become friends. Although we may never meet.

I don't know why some on here cop attitudes , or get snotty in threads , to me it just shows a lack of maturity , or a hot head. I thought the idea was to have an open mind , even if opinions vary.

All in all , I have not ever ran across very much negativity.

the people the covens, games ---profiles --- sh- everything.

No, thankyou ~Hellhathwings~ I always do enjoy a good cycle of random foolishness when it comes to this type of forum thread...I also sort of apologize for my callious responses, although they always do have intent just for grim realization in one form or another.

In turn, sometimes one does come to the VR, not myself included...Just to blow off a bit of steam to a crowd or individuals of whom they may never meet in person. What better way then the internet. Yet another excuse for those of whom "have very little to no life." No offense to any regarding the previous statement.

I have noticed the same things.

I came on VR mostly because of the gothic scene, to talk with people from other countries considering I don't have much in common with Maltese people.

During my 3 years and a half I've been here, I have seen many changes and I always liked them. And it's not ass kissing, it is appriciating, I believe that changes were never made for harm and in fact always enjoyed them.

I also like the paranormal, vampiric life style and any ''alternative'' life style so I am interested to learn about those topics too and share my opinions because so far I haven't found a Forum that allows these topics to be discussed and being moderated.

It seems however not everyone gets the goal of The Dark Network that's why they get against it or become inactive, however inactivity can happen because of being busy. In fact I had to be inactive for some time because I got busy in real life and had to cope with other sites too, but I always return here, here is my true home, here is the place that I feel the most welcome and comfortable to be myself, not even my real life house makes me feel so welcome and comfortable to be myself.

And plesease keep your posts on topic. Rants and fights shold be kept in Journal or private messages.

well i am here for many reasons. One I feel this is like the best Vampiric / wiccan/ werewolves etc.... of all unusual and unanswered questions of the things many do not believe or wonder " IF" questions of so many different subjects.

I am one of many in my Family that actually are all premiums on here I have been here since the beginning and have had many different names and accts. (due to deletion or some thing) LOL yet the fact is I find people here to be very real and I enjoy the fact that the majority do not judge you for how you believe or think. Which in turn also leads to some very interesting Threads such as this one.

I have met many on here also in person and just wonderful real people that stand on their beliefs, which is refreshing. They do not waver to any one who may disagree or not think the same . I have met my wonderful mate on here as well. I come here because I ENJOY VR very much and love supporting it as much as I can.

Do not get me wrong there are some whom are not so nice and of course that is life and there are fakers and liars as well... yet for the most part they are real down to earth people who are just really great. many Intelgent interesting members on here is one reason I am on so much I love to learn whatever I can about things I may not know....

I don't know about you but the large check I receive from Cancer keeps me happy! Of course, the 70 non-virgins are a big plus also.

I am a member of VR,, because I have always had an interest in vampires and lycan....I have lots of books and collectables representing my interest in darker things.....
I came here to expand my knowledge on these things and maybe meet some people who wouldn't think I was too strange because of it..

To me, VR is a place where vamps alike can unite and interact with one another about topics and things that normal people do not contemplate throughout the day.

I have also noticed there are some people who are inactive, and it truly is a waste of time. If your not going to update and stay active, then why not just delete your account?

WE are all here to learn, to grow, and to experience new things with people who share the same lifestyle and overcome the same obstacles everyday. Those who give attitude or feel the need to be ignorant and downright rude should leave.

I joined VR after a friend introduced me to the site. She of course is still here. I am here because I enjoy the information that is posted all over this site. I love to learn new things no matter what it is. I have been attracted to vampires, lycans, dragon,, just about anything. Its the knowledge that I crave along with the friends that have been made here as well. Nothing meant by this next statement but I AM GLAD THAT SOMEONE ACTUALLY MADE A PLACE TO GATHER INFORMATION AND LIKE MINDED PEOPLES. So thumbs up to Cancer for creating VR.

I love this community, sure there are some weird apples here and there but that just makes it more interesting.

I have loved watching this place evolve and grow and I am really excited to see all the changes coming soon.

Why am I here. Good question, I have asked myself that many times.

The reason I joined with my previous account was to meet new people and learn a little on peoples lifestyles etc and to make friends.

I have made many good friends and formed bonds of friendship offline as well. I will not give the reason as to why I left, but why I came back? I guess because I missed the site.

It offers many great features and it is a place of relaxation, where I can get my mind of other things and a great journal where I can put my thoughts in.

Why people bitch and whine, I have no idea and frankly I do not care, I am here to enjoy myself, learn and meet good quality people.

Furthermore it is a great way to improve html skills and it is interesting to see what other people have come up with.

As for inactivity. I might not be the most active member here, but I have a real life that needs to work out. I have two jobs, a husband, a CD production and a lot of different roleplay, music and reenactment jobs I have to attend to as well so VR is not and will never be my first priority.

Cancer created an amazing site and kudos to those who help keeping this place up and running.

I joined because i have always loved vampires magic.. and all sots of paramormal stuff. I have looked for a website that had all of this material in one. For awhie until i joined i was starting to not care much for this sorta thing. but ever since i found VR it seems like i have woken up and my eyes are open to this again....

the primary reason i signed up for VR was because my best friend had a site and was (is) very happy with it. then the more i looked around the site the more i came to realize it was a very good place to be, full of like minded people. of course, some of the ppl on VR are stupid, whinny, spoiled little brats who think this is a remake of myspace, but on the whole, I like the people here.

im here to make friends who r of the same like mind as me.
