Ok I have an interesting question, I believe has been passively addressed in other posts, but I am looking for a more complex answer. I have often heard vampirism is genetic, somewhere in the beings genetic code, but there is no proof found that can prove that.
So first my question is; is it possible a vampire is actually determined by the soul that lies within. I’m talking about those who are vampire, not the fictional character.
Second if this is the case which would explain why genetic tests don’t show a difference in the genetic code of those who are vampire, when they pass on wouldn’t it be true that they if born again or moving to another plain would remain a vampire? Thus my theory if the soul determines a person to be vampire is it safe to say once a vampire always a vampire?
I’m interested in all opinions of this matter.
I'm not sure if its either. It is entirely possible, yes. But often-times I think its more of a lifestyle choice, being a "self-styled" vampire. Its what they beleive in, and want to do with their lives that helps influence these decisions and causes them to live this way. Most of the time.
I'm sure there -are- those out there that feel they must act this way, even if they really don't want to. Rather that is dna, their soul telling them, hey, this is who you are, or a psychological matter is something that we really can't determine. Or at least thats how I feel.
There is no doubt in my mind as per the existence of vampire this day. I personally have experienced and watched them for years, studying them and their tendencies. I have seen those who do appear to suffer from the want to be syndrome, but I have seen those who would do anything to change what they are and how they feel; to get away from feeling the need to partake of blood. I myself experienced it many years ago and learnt to control my thoughts over time, but I have always questioned what or why I am what I am. Thus I ask the question posted above. And I am thankful for the input for and against the topic, I want to see and understand all sides of the topic.
i believe that if it is determined by the soul keeping the remnance of that after daeth it is safe to say once a vampirer always a vampire.
Unless I see it in "The New England Journal of Medicine," I will not believe in any worth while study of real vampire genes or DNA. There does however seen to be a "vampire archetype" that does show up in some people. Since nobody has only one archetype but several combinations of them, this would explain the many various types or differences in what people call being a vampire.
I don't doubt that DNA has a role to play but like you said there's no real proof as of yet. So I must say that it's soul based.
There is a possibility for a DNA/Soul connection however.
The soul is connected to the "spirit realm" and ourselves via the mind/thought. Thought is both an energy and chemical reaction. Depending on brain chemistry (determined by DNA) it may be possible that the soul is indeed connected to DNA in some ways.
Just some thoughts :)
I believe that the "vampyre" soul is the primary factor in the transmission of the entity from birth to birth. There are other factors involved as a subsequent need for a body to inarnate, bringing about DNA codes most appropriate to the entity.
I believe it's n the dna, that's merely an oppinion. and I respect any and all others oppinions. I believe that's why when you're bitten as a mortal, to become a vampyre (to be turned) you must have the blood of the vampyre biting you dripped into your mouth, cause that gives you the proper equilibrium of DNA to set the being turned process into motion. It's because it's the DNA that's the key. I've always believed this.
1 - is it possible a vampire is actually determined by the soul that lies within.
I doubt it. Even with unfictional characters the soul determines almost nothing in life.
2 - Second if this is the case which would explain why genetic tests don’t show a difference in the genetic code of those who are vampire, when they pass on wouldn’t it be true that they if born again or moving to another plain would remain a vampire?
No. Even with the birth of their offspring the soul remains in the original body until death.
I do not believe it is hereditary..... I think it's a choice.
I dont think its either a DNA or Soul based I think its a life style choice as you would have to think about the pros and cons and everything in between
I believe that either way it happens it just is. If it is in the DNA, the Government has such a strong control over everyone and all releases of any diggerential things. If it is true that it is in the DAN you better believe the Government will not let it be known. There are many things that are real that people do not believe is real that the Government has kept secret.
I agree lost kitten, the goverment does hide many things from us; and if they did in fact find a new DNA pattern explaining the vampire it would probably be kept very hush hush and studied. I know a prime example of that is the FDA hiding all herbal remedies from the public.
I don't really believe that being a vampire has any thing to do with DNA. It's just a life style choice, unless something in your DNA causes you to choose this style of life...but then again I guess we wont know until it can actually be proven by scientists.
I dont beleive it comes from inside yourself - It...discredits the whole Physical aspect of being a vampire (The being able to live on only blood and all) So i would definiately go for the DNA option.
I think that they just haven't found a test yet....just like some people may have certain diseases or what ever but no one can prove it because there is no blood test, like fibromyalgia for instance ect.
mystikalmoon15 that is a very good point, there are certain disorders that tests can not detect or explain at this point. Maybe we are missing something in our testing.
mystikalmoon15 that is a very good point yes, I don't have DNA knowledge but it seems that we just not have the knowledge to test yet.
Vampiricism is both a genetic and a mutation because some people might have the gene and not know of it. this can be the most common reason because the mutation is something that will take at least a hundred years. but after the mutation it will stay in the blood and only show itself in certain people and therefore make them the vampires we see today. although they may be a little stronger depending on the genes but if they cause the mutation to happen in some one else the blood is then thinned down and that vampire is weaker. unless it already had the gene because the gene would have just been awakened by the first vampire allowing them to have the same if not more abilities.
1) Genetic:
This theory says that a vampire is a vampire because there is a vampiric "gene" which makes a person biologically different from people without this/these gene(s). Were this true, it would probably be very recessive so it can "lurk" in family lines and show up out of the blue (like red hair in a family with all brunettes), but also why it can seem to always show up in lines as well (coming from a vampiric grandmother, father, and having a vampiric child for example).
2) Spiritual/Soul:
This theory says the vampiric person possesses a non-human soul; a soul which is contained within a human body, but is vampiric in origin. Similar in thoughts to that of most types of "otherkin." Most who follow this theory, do in fact term themselves a type of otherkin. (see What are Otherkin? and the sister site, Embracing Mystery for more on otherkin specifically) Generally, the nature of the vampiric soul is seen to stay dormant until the body is done with it's "normal" developments, at which point, a secondary wave of changes occur, bringing on the Awakening to their "true," inner nature.
I know you like to read more on responses, UTAHVAMP, so I have included the reference with more detailed information and other theories. I know this probably won't answer your question, but it's an interesting reading nonetheless:
Vampire Guide 502: What is the Cause of Vampirism?
I think a lot of the vampiric nature we find in our selfs with our ideas and lifestyles, not a gentic disorder, for dna would hard to get from ashes if you killed a vampire, so I think it is the thoughts and feelings of a person.
well I guess I would have to go with the soul LOL cause I do not feel it is hereditary. yet, something they choose to do by living the vampiric lifestyle.
Being a Vampire is something you are born with so I would have to say it comes from the soul . Also the Vampires from movies and books are not real .
I think the question is- if you are a vampire can you pass vampirism onto your unborn child? I think that you cannot, so therefore it would not be in your dna.
Do vampires even have children?
Its possibly a bit of both, but 90% DNA based in my non-expert opinion. Though you say there's no proof its DNA based, my argument to that statement is that Genetics is only just starting to get on its feet.
They have already started to record gene's in people, taking note of all the "Normal" one's in order to find out what the "Mutated" ones are. This is in some way's playing god, the've been on about genetic enginering for a while now and though it may save many lives i truely belive there are much more sinster intentions to it.
From what you can see here on VR, anyone can proclaim themselves a vampire. With that, all you need is a form of communication.
I am going to deviate from what you said to say that a vampire of *myth* would be through the soul. DNA would have been a far cry from anything any of these folks would have been able to come up with on their own :)
I Believe, That the name Vampire was givin to a certain type of being to label it in order to explain its difference, in other words todays name is Freak. This thing they called Vampire is a spiritual existance that is in touch with a deep energy, each is unique in how they are, but noticibly different from the "Norm", by giving a label and creating myths and movies about what they think it is, which the movies are way off, the closest movie I have seen to the nature of this being is interview with a vampire, aside from the body never dying, it does, it is the Spirit, the energy that is truly Eternal... its hard for me to fully go into depth trying to explain this, for there are things that are just better left unsaid and unkown.
Is it possible a vampire is actually determined by the soul that lies within?
I don't believe so, I feel that ones soul is created as you live, your actions throughout life shape it.
I also believe that vampires are not born but rather are "turned" by another. Therefore I don't think there is a gene for such. I don't see any little vampire children running around looking for victims because they are hungry, I find it hard to believe they would have the control an adult vampire would and therefore would be more noticeable.
One thing I have learned studying psychology is that everything is a combination of heredity and environment. In this case, when debating heredity versus soul, I would have to say it is similar. The soul must be the catalyst, but genetics must also support it. Both body and soul work together, never separately, and therefore make it a combined effort.
Sounds like something I brought up myself not too long ago in these forums.
Yes there are souls that are reborn that are indeed vampiric. They were vampiric in a past life, and it carries on within the soul. Even dead or ancient languages are remembered and spoken. Not many are open about it, only to certain people of trust, but they exist even if one doesn't believe it. :)
Well actually those that have carried on the Order of the Dragon have had their DNA tested and have two genes that are not normally found in humans. Somewhere I have the names of them saved but that isn't really relevant. You cannot even get into this group unless you are related to these family lines and have the two genes. There are subgroups that are people with one gene or interested parties. It's kind of interesting but you know it's all relative to your beliefs and soul based would be a belief system.
I guess it would be how deeply one has researched and what one might wish to believe.
Maybe it is alien DNA. Maybe it is a combination of DNA mutation and the soul.
Vampyrism is untracable in DNA. Most Vampyre, in fact, are enimic though, so that would give off a hint if one was.
But no, I and most others of our kind believe that it is a spiritual hightenment.
I do beleive that being vampire is soul based. And I do agree with XTCraver that people who are anemic could be vampire. Usually people who are vampire just "know" if someone is vampire, or otherkin
This is an interesting question.
First, I must say I have never met anyone who is a "real vampire" that is to say - one who could prove what they were, or have incredible healing powers, or fly, or turn another into a vampire. (I would love too, but alas, am not that fortunate - or perhaps they are just wishful thinking).
I am not aware that an actual proven vampire has ever been given a DNA test to prove or diprove that theory.
Second - I am a psychic vampire and believe that to be a gift that would follow one from one lifetime to another - however - I do not believe it is something that would show up in a DNA test. Perhaps a CAT scan of the brain would show an area of the brain more active than in someone who is not a psy-vamp though.
I do believe that many psychic gifts could show as a person using another part of their brain more than others. Like having a more defined muscle than another person, if you will.
This is a VERY interesting question! I actually use this topic in my paranormal romance story that I'm writing. I believe that there is a difference in the DNA of a vampire compared to that of a regular human. However, the extra chromosomes that make someone a vampire are mutated genes. It enhances testosterone levels(giving the vamps their incredible strength, even in women). They don't have to drink blood unless there is a significant loss after a fight, illness, etc. And when the vamps do need blood, it needs to be from another vampire. They cannot drink human blood because it does not sustain their physical needs.
Nice topic you selected here. I look forward to seeing what others have to say on this subject. ;)
Excellent thread!! :)
I personally believe that you are right - it is the soul that determines whether that person is a vampire or not.
However, I disagree with what you say of "once a vampire always a vampire".
On other plains of existence, how would we define a vampire? The laws of nature would surely be different to this world, so how would these souls be defined?
in real life it is genes dna dictates our life.... i address it as more of a psychological trait... so dna would be the thing that dictates that
i should add that i dont separate soul/spiritual from the physical, i think there is something spiritual about dna
there are so many different possibilities it's hard to say which is the correct version. maybe there are two different species of vampires? ones born of dna, and ones born of spirit? who knows?
The are those that have had DNA testing in Europe who claim there are two DNA genes additional to the normal human DNA and they are the pure bloodline as well as some with only one gene from one family bloodline. You can find the information if you look. I don't want to open up a whole can of worms here talking on this end of it. I haven't done enough of my own research yet. I just know about it.
In my opinion it is a combination of both.
As far as flying or turning someone and all of that. I think perhaps what people don't realize is there is a lot of fictional myths, with cultural superstitions mixed altogether. How could anyone decipher all of that? Vampires don't fly in the traditional sense. Your debates won't make any sense unless from the get go you state based on folklore, modern concepts or books. There is a lot of information out there but you have to look. I am not through with my own researches I am writing so I hesitate to make any blanket statements and I feel in some cases this information is rather private.
What if the soul is nothing more than a sentient senstation created by your brain? You see that alot in shows that do the old "body switch" using some rudamentary plate on their head, which would suggest perhaps the soul is merely the brain producting a false positive.
If that were true, then it being DNA or Soul based would simply be one in the same.
I'm not going to pretend I know, but if I had to guess, it would depend on the nature of the person.
For instance, the people who live the lifestyle. They chose that path, just as much as people who choose their religion. (This includes people who were brought up vampire) It is in their souls, because of who they are, how they were brought up. But as with all things, I believe they have the ability to choose to be what they were brought up for.
As far as genetics, just because there is no proof so far, doesn't mean they don't exist. If it was me, I would be too afraid to come forward if I was one. Likely the government and scientists would want to capture you and study you for "advancements" in science. So maybe there's no proof since no one true has come forth?
Personally, I believe anything is possible until proven otherwise.
There are many disorders both mental and physical where a human craves one thing or another. Some eat dirt because their body is difficient in some minerals, some crave raw meat, for similar conditions. There are also mental disorders where a human craves one thing or another...blood is one of them. Having been in the medical field for a while, nothing surprises me anymore.
well there is a reason why u dont see vampires today in blood tests.. probly bcuz there are none.. just bcuz sum ppl are gothic or have fettishes...like myself.. and wish they were vampires.. also like myself... does not mean they are and shich is why they are not on blood tests.
a vampyre is not determined by DNA nor soul, it is a knowing. like when a mother looks inside of a nursing room for her new child and instantly spot him/her/
Personally I would think it would depend on the kind of vampire as in Psi or Sang.
I would think that with a Sang vampire it is more soul/spirit based and a Sang vampire it is based more on genetics, of course i don't pretend to be an expert at this:)
well in my logic, its both...
Now I tell you how. this is the esteblishment of the opinion on the basis.
the world this Gigantic Creation created from teh zero point...
that time matter were not available... when the first universe organ/ cell/ particle created, it was created with the formulation of the universe on it. later it expanded, split, merged, exploded, and become the mass of the matter the whole this Gigantic Creation.
in this Universe each thing have its own formualtion and it changes according to prior formulation and this will carry on till again the creation end with vanishing into the point zero again.
Now Soul Aspect...:
Soul when take birth into any bio organ its cause done in the last life it lived and from there it carried the resolve the nature with it and according to that matter to the convenience soul take birth in that type of being... hence soul is come to know that it is taking birth in the vampire body, the body is fixed at the time of birth of the univese... before taking birth in vampire genetics, it had option to choose any form many wombs or organ births. But the soul is taken birth accroding to its own choice according to its own karma which become its nature.
Hence here the logic is esteblished that both matters are responsible for the vampire take birth and carries the generation...
I actually think it's really in the mind.
If we're speaking of super-strength, enhanced senses, extra gifts, etc...Maybe vampires just use more of their mind. That would make them basically super-humans; a superior human race.
dragontears answer caught my eye n id have to say i agree
I'm not sure if its either. It is entirely possible, yes. But often-times I think its more of a lifestyle choice, being a "self-styled" vampire. Its what they beleive in, and want to do with their lives that helps influence these decisions and causes them to live this way. Most of the time.
I'm sure there -are- those out there that feel they must act this way, even if they really don't want to. Rather that is dna, their soul telling them, hey, this is who you are, or a psychological matter is something that we really can't determine. Or at least thats how I feel.
either or acutally there is maneys ways to be a vampire and people cant seem to wrapped around that concept. fact is you can be born a vampire or altered into one by gene splicing, dna transplant or even bitten and transformed into one there is no 100% one way only answer.
DNA or genetics could cover a lot of things such as having a blood related disorder such as the need to feed on blood. But I doubt that vampires exist.
Test have been taken on living vampires like don henrie? something like that and the tests show normal on all accounts, so it is within the person i think the vampiric lifestyle dwells.
I personally dont think that it is either DNA nor the soul per se. I dont recall anything in all my vampire enthusiasm remember reading anything that states that vampires are born through DNA.
As far as the soul goes. I don't think that our newer vampires are old vampires reborn. I think that it is more or less spiritual and that depended upon one's spiritual make up a kindred sort of speak is what draws certain people into vamprisim. I believe that your soul and spiritual make up is of two different things.
For example witches & wizards run deep in my family history on my fathers side. We have many "gifted" people still yet in the family, myself included. Now in my mother's family we have more or less a high turn out of christian based individuals.
I was not raised around my father or his people. SO I grew up an outcast from my mothers people who thought there was something medically wrong with me. It wasnt until I was in my late teens that I found out about my fathers people. But my gifts are real all the same.
Now I have a best friend that is also gifted. I know it to be a fact. And he has NO family history of majik users, or religious fanatics. So how is it you think he obtained his gifts?
I think it is spiritually based.
LadyMajik
The explaination that I most accept is that it is a soul based occurance. The soul is vampiric, and the body happens to follow. You cannot be turned. Vampiric souls are reincarnated, but remember fully every past life they had.
If you're looking for the most likely scenario that results in an answer, I would suggest researching porphyria and the threatments regarding the condition before the advent of better medical practices and knowledge. Unless that is the basis for the "condition", the next to most likely answer would be a fantasy more than anything.
inb4 Furstorm.
i read somewhere that a parasite called the Xenopsylla cheopsis was the cause of the bubonic plague.
this parasite also lived on bats. once bats were bitten, they became vampire bats.
now that the plague has "died out" there is a possibility that the Human Vampiric Virus (HVV) still remains.
the chances of surviving the Virus are slim.
it could be DNA based
There is much controversy among those who identify themselves as Vampyres as to their condition.
However most agree that they are born with the condition, some claim they inherited it from their family and others claim they have been Vampyres through many incarnations.
Those who inherit it from their parents describe either one or both are Vampyres, that is they were raised as Vampyres and learned their ways from familial association. This would support the existence of a Vampyre gene. However at this time there is no scientific support of such a gene; there has been no investigation however into genetic testing of Vampyres in order to isolate such a genetic link. Such research is expensive and there are no indications that such an investigation would be forthcoming in the foreseeable future.
There are however some physical conditions reported by many of those who claim to be Vampyres, notably fair skin, photo-phobia, heightened senses, and heightened empathetic ability. Some claim to have clairavoyance and, the ability to use "glamour" to persuade donors to provide for them. Some also claim to have innate magickal ability similar to Wytches.
Then there are those who claim they are Vampyres who have spiritually evolved through thousands of years of incarnation, usually from the predynastic period of Kem, as Egypt was called during that period, by association with chthonic deity or originating as deity. There is anthropological data which suggests that these deities began as human and practiced Vampyrism either as a religious observance or as part of an act of warfare. This type of Vampyre was deified by their followers and evolved later as the Pharaoh in later years. There is paleoanthropological data which supports this theory, not only in Egypt but in Sumer and Babylon.
Personally I support the spiritual evolution, through reincarnation, of Vampyres. This is based on the belief in an immortal spirit which is incorporated into us and provides us with a spark of the divine. And also that this spirit is what makes us what we are, children of the night, because we inherit a dark spirit and therefore we turn away from the light.
Unless people who take on the term "vampire" or "vampiric" or "sanguinarian" allow themselves to be seriously studied in controlled, scientific groups, there is not going to be a definitive answer.
But I believe, untill that time comes, all the uneducated or even educated guesses at Genetics,(RNA/DNA)medical and spritual are just that.No one can say what a Vampire is,and the opinions are really varied.So..I will stick to a chosen lifestyle for now.
im sure its a soul based thing. this isnt a disease, its so much more. i think that one of the ways the "classic" vampire legends started was perhaps the ghost...that is the soul...of a vampire returning to feed rather than moving on to its next life. if people started to feel weak, and a dead person was sighted there, its time to go dig them up.
but
they are buried in a box under the ground, and the box hasnt been disturbed....ergo, what they are seeing is just spirit.
anyway, just my dos centavos
LordWolf, would you mind elaborating a little on the reasoning behind your thinking please? I am genuinely interested in what would make one think this way.
Thanks for your time.:)
I do believe it is DNA, somewhere darkness got in and we express it in our lifestyle.
If the soul is true then I will move past the grave to find my love
oceanne:
when i read of the actual accounts of vampirism, it isnt like the movies where there is a nice coffin in the basement to sleep in....
they are in an actual grave with thousands of pounds of earth on top of them. the vampire would appear, and drink blood (or perhaps just energy), and then vanish.
those accounts sound much more like a ghost story than what we have come to think of as a vampire.
so...my theory (and its only a theory ofcoarse) is that when one that we think of as a vampire dies, and if their soul is earthbound and unable to go to another body, then they might still feel the need to feed (or be in the habit of feeding).
they would "escape" their coffin easily enough being of spirit.
whether or not driving a stake into them might keep them down is another subject. i would suspect that it might be every bit as effective as garlic or a crucifix. lol
Vampyres believe themselves to be hightened on an astral level, so I will say soul based. Though, through (for lack of a better word) breeding, genetics do come into play. I was not the one who wrote this, I just came across it.
Family Trees
basic Vampire geneticsVampires, on the whole, despite their erotic or romantic image, do not have much of a sexual urge.
There are of course exceptions just as there are variations in the sex drives of humans. But on the whole most Vampires aren't much interested in sex. However, this does not mean that they cannot produce children if they so wish.
Some Vampires, particularly those of the wampyrus sauria type, choose to marry and have children. Vampires can breed with other Vampires and with humans. Cross breeding with other types of Vampires almost invariably produces the 'default' type, wampyrus draco, even if neither parent is themselves a Draco Vampire.
Cross breeding a Vampire with a human produces an individual who is fully human, will never develop any vampiric traits or tendencies but carries the genes for vampirism.
Please note that this information has been highly simplified to Mendalian basics to illustrate the point.
Vampire + Human
All of the offspring are Human but carry the dormant recessive Vampire genes. The individuals will never become Vampires and most will not even have any signs of Vampire traits such as sensitivity to light or unusually high disease resistance.
Carrier + Human
The offspring have a 50/50 chance of being either Human carriers of the dormant recessive Vampire gene or of being pure Human.
Carrier + Carrier
The offspring have a 25% chance of being a Human, a 50% chance of being a carrier of the dormant recessive Vampire gene and a 25% chance of manifesting Vampirism at puberty.
Vampire + Vampire
The offspring will all develop into Vampires, which kind of Vampire depends on ancestry & environment.
Carrier + Vampire
The offspring have a 50/50 chance of being either Human carriers of the dormant recessive Vampire gene or of being Vampires
While I do understand X what you are trying to say, there is no indications that Genes have anything to do with it.Granted genes do play a role in determining certain traits and behaviours,Im not so sure, from what I know of genetics, that there is a true Vampire gene. And to state this as fact, jsut doesnt really cut it.A proposal perhaps, but it isnt fact.
Unless Of course you are referring to the Plasminogen Activator gene..but There would be many hurdles for this to cross in order for it to be any kind of catalyst for turning anyone into a human Vampire beyond a meer cravingAnd even so,I highly doubt there will ever be an human that would be able to survive on Blood alone.
I have been imagining a nano type vampire, and the need for blood being replaced by a specific gland fluid. The Condition starting from an attempt to cure cancer gone wrong.
As vampires DO NOT exist, the point is moot.
Wanna get uppity?
Show me some evidence. ONE scrap of proof that vampires as presented as othernatural beings are real, and I will gleefully recant.
But wondering if something that isn't real is soul based or dna based...seems kinda silly.
And for those saying you have followed and watched vampires...no you havn't. Goths, maybe, sanguinariests, possibly...but you havn't seen anything truely vampiric, stop hiding attention getting devices in well written posts.
For the record, though, as no one is born a vampire, I would have to ay that, WERE IT REAL, it would likely be transmitted via the traditional methods.
Cuz two vampires COULDN'T HAVE A BABY, on account that DEAD THINGS CAN'T GET KNOCKED UP.
Let the hate mail begin!
A soul can't make you a blood drinker or make you sprout fangs. Genetically mutated DNA might, however.
I have been pondering your question for quite a while now and think it deserves to be challenged.
Most will argue the fact that the DNA of the human cannot proceed into a genetic mutative state, IE evolution. But, with new birth does come that evolution. This is fact, which is not argueable in my opinion, depending on what the evolution is based on.
Of course, sprouting wings may be a little far fetched, but so is the concept of the vampire being somewhat of a concept in the evolution of the human.
That would be a brief summery into the DNA aspect of the discussion. Now onto the Soul Based application.
Since theoretically, the soul is a faith based aspiration, and not entirely proven to exist, it would be mere speculation out of said faith. Following certain theological context such as the Buddist way, the soul does have a plan for reincarnation.
But, with other minor religions such as "Satanism", the body technically does not have a soul per say, which is why the followers of such live every day to its fullest since they think there is no return to the earth after death...IE reincarnation.
So, if that "Satanist" believes themselves to be vampire, then it would make them somewhat of a hypocrite...Since the Soul Based aspect would justify reincarnation.
Still, the human vs vampire with the genetic coding which cannot be proven since there truly is no real evidence of a vampire in the world, there really is no way of comparing any sort of DNA save for maybe the mammal known as the vampire bat.
Which lay the arguement up for discussion I guess. Personally, I would say it is both in the long run. Which adds the myth of the "mara" where the term "nightmare" came from...IE the spirit of the vampire.
Now, herein lies my idea, that the soul knows where it is if it is as aware as the vampire...To be able to chose its existance within the ethereal. To either be reincarnated, or to live on as spirit to travel. Choice is quite the idea.
DNA based whilst living, Soul Based when passing over.
I think that the blood drinking and turning into a vampire is DNA and the idea of not having a soul once your a vampire is the soul part.
I disagree, if that was the case then the psi-vampires would have no merit of their souls feeding off the energies of others.
If you like my thoughts of subjects its like this.
Since there is no prof of vampire at this day, I think vampire is a state of mind. It has nothing to do with either soul or dna
In a time where you cant keep anything secret why would it be possible to keep a big secret like a whole rase of vampires. It has to be a state of mind if you ask me.
Is it so hard to conceive a notion of vampires? I mean come now, we have african, spanish, persian, oriental races...Why not a vampiric? Just because one part of society does not recognize race...Or class for that matter, does not mean it does not exist.
I’ve seen many great responses on here and all most pleased with the information and opinions. I do suggest I should have been more elaborate on one specific of my question. Vampyre is defined by ones own definition of them as per science nor medical research can explain the phenomenon. When I sate that I have followed these creatures for some time, I simply mean I have followed those I have met that seem to set outside the box of the usual encountered vampyre type. Certain things and actions set these people apart and give me reason to believe they are vampyre or at least closer to what I would consider one to be. I was also wondering if anyone has any links to info on the dragon clan, I would love to read more about the different DNA noted amongst them. Thanks everyone for the continued posts, the information is most enticing to read.
Some myths believe the first Vampire was Cain, he was cursed by God for the slaying of his brother.. others say Dracula was the first vampire, I believe however its a life style and choice of those who desire the dark gift.
Is this what you're looking for UTAH? If you give me a little more,I ll find them..or try anyway.

i believe that being a vampire is purely a choice and a way of life, that may be influenced by who your parents are and what you grew up with.
That's because Don Henrie is a lifestyler. The community is complex. I wish I could find the information I collected on the two genes. If they are not vampires through descent they will show nothing at all. For some they are drawn in and misconstrue what they are. Some are very into modern standards of look, dress and action, which has nothing to do with a state of being however it is arrived at. It has to do with how someone wishes to present themselves and their state. His is to have that otherworldly effect. Just because someone is in the limelight doesn't mean they are what they say and it doesn't mean they are not. Living a lifestyle is one thing and drinking blood is only one part and one segment of all who are among the community. A low percentage. There is a reason for it but not going to say.
As far as a soul, if anyone can say vampires are not real, what makes you think the soul is real? There is just as much anecdotal evidence for vampirism being real as a soul. You can't see it or touch it, it is a belief attached to religion. Even some who have no religion believe in a soul but regardless it is a belief that remains to have been unequivocally proven. My understanding is he is not speaking about the historical revenant or the fictional. Therefore some things brought up don't apply to this topic. If I have misunderstood I apologize but on the other hand if you are not a vampyric, how would you know?
"if you are not a vampyric, how would you know?"
I dont think that peeps are given enough credit when it comes to being able to obtain this knowledge.Anyone can learn about anything and learn to recognise it.It is a matter of obtaining the right info, thats all...Vampires are not the only ones privy to this .In all honesty? This "Only a Vampire can know another Vampire ' With all due respect,I dont buy it one bit.
And the gene info..seems to me that that is one bit of info that one would not loose. As it is about the only real physical evidence one would have to proove the exsistance of Vampires.
I think some are causes but some are just conditions.
In my opinion the soul origin of a vampire can be the cause and the genetic matrix just a condition.
I've been wondering the same thing lately... being pregnant and all. I've been wondering if the baby my fiance and I, who are both pranic vampires, created will be able to take energy through some sort of genetic transfer. Will she be the same wonderful creature that we are? It would seem odd for her to be human, seeing as how neither of us are.
I have two responses...
The first is for the webpage that ~Oceanne~ posted. It looks like a shotty 5 minute job for someone who really wanted to be seen. There is no Dragon Clan. Never was. Seems as though the individual who created the site actually roleplays alot, and just wished to create the site for the sake of creating it.
If and I mean a big IF, the Clan was real, would they not have a "myspace" page, or a less shotty actual professional page like all the other "real vampire" pages I have seen?
Secondly: All individuals on this earth are human. We live, we breath, we eat, we drink. Just becuase some of us are vampire, does not mean we are not still humanoid. We are merely not like the rest of the populous. So don't give me that crap saying "we are not vampires, having a human child." To me, this statement is utterly obsurd in every way. Like the statement "two dogs having a cat." Think before you speak people.
(My apologies once again to the Dominars.)
i believe true vampires exist purely because of their soul and of the personal experiences they have had in many of their past lives,i believe this because in a family there can be only one of a sibling that is vampire,so in that sence that not all siblings become turned.
i feel it is not genetically passed on but souly passed on through the vampires souls immortality to live.
All vampyres I believe started out human then the species evolved into one of super human genetics. During the evolution it was obvious vampyres were separating from the human race. The base genetic structure might not be conclusive upon testing, as it is so advanced humans through testing it, may not even recognize the advanced genetic structure. Humans may not even be able to test for it. In truth, the base of the genetic structure is the same(as humans), its evolution overtime has however put it on a whole nother plain. That is why vampyres have a need for red blood to survive. Vampyres advanced genetic structure requires it. No longer any other food is required other than blood. That is also why vampyres can't see as well in bright light, but have extraordinary night vision. Evolution of the vampyre species and genetics as given it that superior night vision. It also explains why through the evolution of the species vampyres became immortal.
i think you are onto something. i believe that it may be one of those things you choose to embrace before incarnation, and that aspect would be carried across planes when you travel as it is an aspect of you.
soul based!
well, your DNA determines your species. and seeing as a vampire takes the form of a human being, i say it has nothing to do with DNA
