Iv had a couple of near death experiences, I can testify that the tunnel leading to the white light is real.
I had a dilemma when faced with this event, I don’t believe in heaven and find the promotion of this concept wrong based on the promoters and concept.
What is your opinion on the white light?
I never saw a white light but I did witness bits and pieces of my life go by like a high speed slide show...
hence the life flashing before your eyes story.
That I can attest to, but no white light.
Any white light I have ever noticed or seen has been apart of the "Spiral" of incarnations.
I lack any other term to describe it, but its like a cosmic funnel which siphons off souls into different planes according to their want of incarnation.
Yes I did the life thing on the second one much better than the first.
I was like in the back seat watching me live my life and shouting out as I knew the answers on what to do… but still made the same mistakes … sort of judged myself .. so now I only do what I can live with.. justify my crimes if you will … knowing im going to judge myself again or I am right now and about to die…. *looks over shoulder for white light n tunnel* lol
You got me interested Infernalmage, do tell me more…. I agree you know the same event as iv seen it… I didn’t go in as I don’t believe… it was there I just stayed.
Well I am hoping that is what there is to go through, in addition to my passed loved ones. I sure hope we live on and have believed that my whole life. With my Mom's passing in November, it's hard to keep that thought, because we always said whoever went first had to come back and tell the other that we were right and we exist on past the physical body. I am still waiting for her to manifest herself.
I saw a documentary along time ago about the "white light and the blissful feelings that go with it."
If I remember correctly they discovered that it was the bodies natural reaction before it dies, also the life flashing before your eyes!
Something to do with the shutting down of the brain and sences.
You may want to Internet it to get the details as I can't remember them! :)
Well I got the life flash and the tunnel … I then floated the other way and woke in a rather broken body… apparently I bounced after falling two flights backwards … makes me giggle
i have had a lot of near death exparens and i never saw a white light
The white light is probably your brain rebooting. The human brain is full of electrical energy.
I never saw a "white light" nor did I experience the "life before my eyes" moment which to me means that I was either on my way to hell (a possibility) lol or that there is no heaven or hell. In turn that experience or lack thereof, helped to push me over to Agnostic from being a previous Christian.
Well, to describe the white light as a spiral, I would have to contemplate the unicorn theory. Since the unicorns horn is speculated to be the Universal spiral of the energy waves from the Universe itself IE the unicorn, then the white light or spiral the individual would be seeing would be that of the Universal energies manifested from your "higher self" as it pertains to the Sacred Geometries of the Universe.
Long story short, I believe the almighty "white light" to be the creative conscience one manifests from themselves once they pass beyond the veil of conscious thought. This spiral unihorn, the individual creates for themselves in aspect, are the collective energies which the universe has given them...They are just conscious of this energy after the passing, not before.
Science tells us that this white light is something which our brains manufacture as it shuts down.
As a way of taking the sting out of death as it were.
I can believe that, but I also believe it enables us to straddle two worlds for a short time.
Those who have had near death experiences fall into three groups.
1. Can't remember a darn thing.
2. Have confused images and out of body memories.
3. Have very clear images and or memories which seem
to include such things as: family members talking to
them to either pass on a message or put them at
ease.
Alot of people also come back with the knowledge
they do indeed judge themselves, and resolve to
try harder to be a 'better' person.
Well i kinda belive it can be the passage to next life reincarnation. but i also have a belive nothing happen and the ultimate rest in nothing starts.
I don't doubt it, so many people have claimed to see a white light, I dont think it's possible that they'd all be lying
I have never seen the white light that some claim to have seen. But I think it is just your brain doing things that make people think they are seeing it.
I never saw a white light but I did see my late brother who told me I should go home because it was not time for me yet.
I have never seen the light at the end of the tunnel - only family telling me to turn around and go back or wake up.
I was so out of it with all the pills I swallowed that I don't remember seeing a white light. The doctors wiped out my memory of this event with shock treatments.
There are theories that there are biological reasons for NDE's.
They found that the people who had had a near death experience had less clearly separated boundaries between periods of sleep and wakefulness. The near death experience people reported looking down at themselves in the operating theatre or being bathed in a bright, white light. When a person is in a REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep stage, similar sensations also happen.
There are also neurobiological mechanisms, related to such factors as anomalous temporal-lobe functioning, epilepsy, compression of the optic nerve (one possible cause of the tunnel sensation), chemical changes in the brain related to serotonin and endorphins, and general changes in brain functioning.
I've never heard that the white light only leads to Heaven......many times it says that it is just a guiding light that leads you over to the other side. What the "other side" means to you is a personal interpretation that would depend on your religious and/or cultural beliefs.
More recent ideas suggest that life might continue in another dimension or plane of existence - perhaps even on another planet.
I seen my Gma, Gpa and my brother, with a brightness around them and it was very serene I wanted to be with my brother yet he and my Gparents kept telling me I was not done here that I had to go back and not to come yet, ironically I wanted to stay cause I felt so much at pece and just Wow!
of course when you die and are resessitated they have you talk to a Dr. about what was your experience etc.. I told him well die and then you willknow and can not sit here and think I am nuts LOL
I had that happen 3 times and well if it was to happen again I am not sure i could turn back ... cause my mom has since passed and well I would not want to leave her.. hope that makes sense.
I do believe in the white light / brightness calling you to cross over to eternity. so just my experience and 2 cents on it.
Many I know before death they talk to their loved ones that are on the other side. One man before he died was holding his hand up in the air saying his Sister Emma was taking him into a white light. Then he passed.
A friend told me as she was taking care of her dying Mother....she seen her baby. yes my friend said for the pictures of all of her living children were on the fireplace mantel. Not that baby she told my friend...the baby I lost is in the white light waiting on me.
I do believe it is part of after we pass.
I remember watching a show about this ages ago. One man said that people see a white light because that's what they expect to see. Another scientist had a good explanation for it, but I'm sorry I can't remember what it was -_____-;
Actually CherryAdvocaat, I would have to agree with the one who said "They see it because that's what they expect to see". Because it seems like some people see their lives flash before their eyes, and others see the white light...maybe it does all depend on what you think you're going to see. I don't know the scientific explanation for it, but something else I saw in the thread that seemed probable was the fact that that's what the brain manifests as it's shutting down.
it could be just you seeing yoru spirit. and all its splendor. . .
I never saw a white light when I had a close call with death. I would like to believe that we do travel into the light at the end of our time on earth. It seems comforting. There are so many theories, and who knows what the truth is until we pass.
i have never had an experince close enough to see anything but last fall when my husband flat lined all he claimed is that it was like he was in a dream state and could see everything going on just could not do nothing about it
When I was in my comma … it felt like about two minutes had passed and I was in a void of darkness yet enclosed I had no body but sensed I was seeing from my mouth…..
I told a couple of jokes to myself and realized I was in trouble as I thought about my life flash and then the fall… I felt disjointed from it all … like it didn’t matter now.
Then the tunnel started and the light at the end was more than bright n sparkly like being punched out cold sparkle.
I turned and said screw that… I then shot forward sot of out of the back of my head by the base of my neck to fill my body and the lights got dim and it was then me growing n looking out of my eyes… then I felt the pain of my broken body n passed out again as the nurses rushed in. … two week comma was over for me in two minutes
I don't thinkt he whitelight necessarily means heaven, I think its just signifies the end.
Every time I have been near death I have been on a bridge and the river under me must have been the rivers sticks, there was no light no darkness just the bridge and the river.
When I died,I saw no light.Or tunnel. I have heard several theories as to why it happens tho.
I can't say i've ever had any NDE's myself, but I do think that the white light comes from a moment of pure clarity, where there is nothing in the universe you have to think or worry about...
Looking back over the post I also watched a documentary on “science” latest attempt at explaining NDE.
It said the white light is brain death like a chemical lightning storm….. I guess if that’s the angle your after, then that will be your assumption.
Personally I was not in brain death yet seen it… in fact loads have and we all were not in brain death ….
I must say though the first time when I was drowning after I passed the point of my lungs bursting to take in air and I just got over ridden by my body and breathed water. I remember the sunlight shining through the water in sheets of light and floating down again and felt at one with it all….
I Think The White Light is Rebirth.
If you Enter Then You are Born In Another Life And As You Enter Through You Forget What Has Happened And You Start All Over Again.
I flat lined for 14 minutes. Yes the tunnel and the bright light was there but for me it was strange, there was a really tall man that told me to go back little peanut, never knew this man and wasnt ever called that before.
After I came back and was home i was telling my mom of my experience and what the man looked like. She went pale and showed me a pic of my grandfather who died when i was 6 months old. It was him and my mom said he called me little peanut as when she was a kid he called her peanut. So there is something there and I am not scared to die anymore.
My near death experience I never saw a white light, I ending up in what felt like being in the ocean. I was surrounded by blue waves it was warm and nice I wanted to stay there forever but I knew I could not. My adopted mother who is Native American says it's called entering the void. She told me that sometimes shaman or those who are born to be shaman have this same state of consciousness during a spirit walk. It differs from person to person which color the void waves are.
the brain freaks out if its deprived of the essentials. it could very well be hallucinations due to lack of oxygen mixed with fear.
I don't believe there is a white light. Unless, ya' know, you get hit my a car at night. It's silly in my opinion.
well i heard this fron other peoipl the concept that u see a white light means the possiblities of some thing more better and not neccesairly meaning that their is a heaven
Well for me when i got in my car accident the only thing i clearly remember is seeing my grandfather who had passed the previous summer, and him guarding me. Telling me I had greater things to accomplish
I believe that there is a white light but I did not see it due to what I did in my past
I have personally never had this experience but I have had some of my family say that they have seen the white light. I have often wondered though if the light was there to guide us to a place that we deemed as our own heaven or if it was actually to another place.
to be honest i dont know lol
i kind of think that its one of those reflection periods. you reflect on your life, if the light consumes you your dead, if not your given a second chance
When I was in a coma, I didnt see a white light...but I did have flashbacks or what ever you want to call them of my life. Even though I was told that I was never close to death at anytime during the coma. I just dont understand why I would have those scenes come back to me if I wasnt close to death. I also could see above my body and see everyone that was there with me and hear the things they were saying.

How would someone remember something that happened while in comatose? As far as I'm aware, when one is in a coma, they don't really have much higher brain function.
i believe also in the white light though i think its not always a entance to heaven i feel that it is just a way to the otherside i think it is like a magnet and can draw one into it when they have such a experience of death.
Exactly … I was in one for two weeks and I felt like I was in it for two minutes.
It's the same with dreaming in my opinion. While unconscious we have no knowledge of the time of the outside world. Everything passes quickly and we hardly ever remember these moments.
I think that the white light is what your brain fills in the missing gaps in your visual correspondence with. As you die, everything slowly stops functioning, when you lose connectivity with your eyes, there is nothing to see.
White is the absence in pigment, but where everything is at with light.
Maybe it is easier for your brain to produce a white light than a black one.
On that notion, which is more perceivably nothingness: black or white?
Well before I hit the ground I remember a black blanket of voidness envelope me. no pain just blackness… after a while I got board n started to tell jokes… I thought it was funny but the feeling of being on my own was too much… then shit happened.
We can be logic and try to fill gaps… however we all have the same experience, were not brain dead… so I guess it is still out to lunch on what happens… maybe you will one day understand
No need to understand … it just is
personaly i didnt trust so i stayed
like i said earlier i do believe in white light butthere was a time when i thought the white light was only a myth.
i have heard that for the jewish the light is like a light blue color instead of white, but i don't know if that is true or not, least not to my knowledge currently.
how is it a dellima.....in death all is foreseen....so what was in the light......what most ppl say is Jesus i say is what they wished to see at that dieing moment......they wanted to beleive so they saw......so what did you want to see in that light
well from my experience i had this last December. i was at a concert with some friends of mine i had blacked out just as the main band came on to play. i was out for about 2 1/2 hours. I saw a dim white light i will never forget it because after that incident i have never felt like i have been the same as i was before this had happened.
I think that it's just a light to lead you to wherever you are going. I didn't have the white light but i did have my life flashing.. I belive that is one of the things that helped me to wake up.. I kept seeing my children and knew i had to be here for them.
I had a near death experience but did not see a white light nor did I see my life flash before me.
I too have seen the shows of how scientists explain the reason for people seeing the light. They say it is caused by the electrical impulses shutting down similar to what you see on your tv screen when you turn it off.
I believe that there are whitelights out there but there wasnt one for me when I was close to death because of what I had done in my past
Yeh I also believe we judge ourselves as we have a life flash while in our death moments.
That’s why now I justifies everything I do and if I cant live with it I know it will affect me when I have my last life flash.
Countessofshadows2 you’re a kind soul and once you except what you did was part of way things were or the choices you made, make peace with the past, and those daemons tearing at your flesh are really just angels setting your soul free
white usually means purity. it may have meant that when entering that light your soul would have been purified therefore allowing it to pass on to paradise, not heaven. I dont believe in heaven either.
I have never had a near death experience. But I believe that the white light exists
Countessofshadows2 -
Why would what you've done in the past have any effect on your ability to see the white light?
I don't believe in an afterlife or heaven nor hell. I would hypothesize that this white light and tunnel is merely the eyes sending the last bits of information to the brain before they shut down as the life-energy drains away. The mind continues for a brief moment after death and thus, I theorize, is the reason for those who don't quite pass on completely to experience this "shut-down" procedure.
I never saw a white light, I entered a dark tunnel myself, to a wasteland of despair and pain, I wasn't a nice person back then, but I think if the place I visited is real there must be a white light as well.
I think what we may see during those moments of death will all depend on what our belief system may be at the time.
Some say they see the white light...others have mentioned tunnels...while others have mentioned seeing loved ones who have already passed.
I do believe there is an afterlife but not sure if it is heaven, hell or something totally different.
I do believe in the afterlife and do believe you see a white light.
Hi Jens
Comforting as it may be to say nothing after death happens and involves no need to prove.
Your hypothesis lacks strength for you state death gives this effect to the brain, however only living report this event, to make the gap jump you try to cover it with a statement as strong as your belief nothing happens, you think we were close…. So do you see you have gone from two extremes to say life n death and somewhere in between.
Any more defined thoughts on your cover all aspects? Lol
I didn't actually die but came close and saw no such light. I have to wonder if one has to be flat lined before such an occurrence is possible.
I don't know what the tunnel is exactly, however i do know that Shamans use a tunnel during healing. I was taught that everyone has this tunnel in front of them and sometimes people stare at it and doesn't realize it. He also said that if you held out your hand, you can feel a difference in the energies in front of you. He believes that this could be the tunnel of which people see when they die. However he also said that the person's soul doesn't leave the body for a couple days.
I have always seen the tunnel as the consciousness detaching from the body. The white light to me is the universal consciousness, our entering the outer sphere that some call the ether. From there we join with others and then summarise or share our experiences from the life we had just partaken in. Then decide what we will do next, return and start a new life or remain for a time in the universal conscious.
I had 7 near death experience, was clinicly consider dead 1 time also.
I saw a light but it was neither heaven or anything like that, it was simply the brain releasing hormons creating this effect on the cerbral cortex which lead to beleive ina tunel.
It is also the cause of the memory flash back, since the chemical in the brain is having short curcuit du to inactivity or low activity, resulting in a series of divers illusions to memory flash.
"Any white light I have ever noticed or seen has been apart of the "Spiral" of incarnations.
I lack any other term to describe it, but its like a cosmic funnel which siphons off souls into different planes according to their want of incarnation. "
I have...NEVER thought of it that way O.o which is great because now i have something to think about while i'm at work lol
Thats such an excellent theory, that people dont just end up in one place. haha! its logical!

I think that's generally the case. When the heart stops is when the spirit is supposed to leave the body which would be the perfect time for the white light to appear.
I had a white light experience!! But it was for like just a sec...
It was like the brighest thing I have ever seen!!
Like fo real!

I should have opinions one would think, but like a different thread. I cannot really know for sure until I am dead and have experienced this. I liked the movie flat liners.
I have never had a chance to experience the white light myself but have heard and read many stories. Family members who talked about seeing their loved ones on the other side. Or waiting for them to go into it.
Personally I believe in the white light that it is leading us somewhere but to where I don't know?
I have been around loved ones where they experience the white light just before death. no one really knows what the white light is until they reach death is my opinion.
Because those of us near death have seen it yet came back and the experience is very real unlike cortex death where I should imagine it would be very scrambled and much more
The white light may not be possible for everyone which is why I asked the question.
I believe that the white light is the path a soul takes before crossing to the other side. I don't believe in heaven either...but I do believe in an afterlife. (I believe they are two seperate realms)
Hi Distortion
I have a bad past and im far from religions good ideals.
I practice all arts including the darkest, from Solomon’s gates to chaos blackness.
I seen the light and kept away because im so dark, I didn’t trust, I don’t belive…. Yet it came. i stayed away in the shadows of coma reality
I don't believe in heaven myself either. I think the white light is just am image your mind programs as your organs fail. Kinda like how you lose hearing, taste, ect... that must be what losing site is?
One possibility is DMT..I dont see why not, after all,the Pineal gland is known as the "Seat of the soul."

I've never had the White Light experience, but near death experiences, yes. My head started spinning, and everything went black, but then i snapped back to reality. However, I don't doubt the White Light.
Interresting. I've also live a white light experience. It's like the time stop but not completly and I've see maybe hallucinated things I don't know exactly. But I am sure that it's not like astral travel.
well i think that maybe it is just the path to the next life, where or what every that may be
i think the white light is just the oppisite of the darkness whaen you close your eyes if your alive.

That's not what I meant on some people may not be able to see it.
I think it's a thing like people with TRUE psychic abilities although a bit more spread out. Few people have them, but those who do were chosen to have them.
I've had dreams of nearly death situations and they've all end with me like falling into a dark hole, and then i'd wake up. But about the white light thing. I've never personally had anything about the light. buttt maybe the light is trying to tell you something or not. :)

Just a quick question.
Do you think D.'s grandma saw the light before she passed?
The white light could simply be a collection of spirits come to help the newly deceased soul along to the afterworld, too.
I think I saw the same documentary as Veela, something about the white light being the body's natural reaction to the brain shutting down. I can't remember many of the details, though. If you go with Jung's belief of the collective conciousness that we all share, maybe this was something that a few experienced and the rest of us just inherited the memory?
Also, in reference to near-death dreams, I actually had a dream once where I shot myself in the head, but I didn't wake up right then. It was like I could actually feel the bullet passing through, and then everything went grey. Anyone else have a dream that didn't stop at that crucial moment?
well I haven't the time to read through this whole thing, BUT I can relate my own experience, after dropping myself into a serious coma with a fuckpile of voltage, I concluded that as you awaken from a comatose state, you have acute tunnel vision, which slowly widens out, after doing a little research and asking a few doctors this effect was confirmed to me, so myself...I think this particular one has less to do with spirituality and more to do with biochemistry.....
but I have been wrong before
hmm I have died three times according to some and always seen people I have loved before the light thing never occured. Nothing like white but more of a movie thing for me.
I woke up and then saw light but nothing bright and such.
So to each his or her own.
I only have technically died once for 3 minutes. I t was straight out of the womb and my heart failed. Since I was a newborn, I don't remember, but I've had a few out of body experiences and I didn't get a white light. I wonder if thats a bad thing...
I don't think out of body experiences and near death experiences are the same thing, exactly.
