My father died and once he was gone there have been strange things that happen in my home, like seeing shadows of him and then the next second he not be there. And there has even been others that came into my house and have seen him and describe him to me and they never once met him.
Well the point is: If it is indeed my father and he is in my home then why is he still here, and if he is here then is his soul trapped?
perhaps it is his choice. might he not choose to stay to watch over your family?
My friend died of cancer late last year.
There were a lot of coincidences that occured just after her death, and they all made me think.
Maybe your father is still there - if so then I believe it is nothing to be afraid of.
He is obviously trying to protect you and keep you safe.
Hope some of this helped :3
Would agree.. sometimes spirit tend to want to check on you. (for lack of a better term) There is nothing to fear just be comforted in knowing that he is around you and loves you.
I think perhaps that he just wants to let his family know he is only gone a little way ahead and he loves you all still.
Well, my friend, say thanks to your father next time that you "see" his ghost. Sit in a chair, closed your eyes, and talk to him. May be he doesn't realized that he already pass-on. Let him know that it is okay to let go and that you will see him later. Good Luck!!
i feel that our loved ones that have passed come back to let us know that they are ok and to make sure that we are as well. i lost my gram and i know she still comes to make sure im ok. i think your dad is just letting you know hes still around and that hes just checking on you.
Loved ones stay around as long as you need them. SO say hi to him, he's just letting you know he is there for you. You will notice this less as your pain is less. Go on with your life, he will go on his next journey.
Your father could still be there becasue maybe he just can not let you go or let go of the fact that he has passed on. Maybe he is trying to watch out for you or keep an eye out or that he needs to tell you something he never got to say...there could be different reasons why he is stll ther.
Maybe it is some other spirit that is taking the place of your father and just tricking you, spirits tend to do that.
I found this information to be interesting:
"The dead stay with us, that much is clear. They remain in our hearts and minds, of course, but for many people they also linger in our senses—as sights, sounds, smells, touches or presences. Grief hallucinations are a normal reaction to bereavement but are rarely discussed, because people fear they might be considered insane or mentally destabilised by their loss. As a society we tend to associate hallucinations with things like drugs and mental illness, but we now know that hallucinations are common in sober healthy people and that they are more likely during times of stress."

i'm sorry to hear that....i think your father wasn't ready to leave you and he want's you to know he is still there for you..
death is hard on us all, and sometimes the mind power can sense or image things in times of distress or hyperness.
like smells of passed away peoples pipes or colonge, strange but true facts, tormented spirits or our own imagination of thought of the mind.
no it doesnt nessicarely mean that his spirit is traped it could just mean that he is trying 2 watch over like a guardian angel my dad passed in feb of 04 and it killed me inside because i was rele close 2 my dad and it sux
sometimes the deceased lurks around close to loved ones as protectors or because they just choose to remain for some time and to help you adjust to their parting.. it has happened to many people I know as well as myself even.
My father passed away 3 years ago and we still feel his presence in the house, we know he is here watching over us all, he sometimes will vist in our dreams to comunicate with us. i highly believe your father is watching over you.
many like to stay close to their loved ones even in the here after. there could be a multitude of reasons why you sense him or feel him still with you/around you
my brother past away when i was six and he was five. after his death i had a few different occurences with him.
when i was in the 5th grade he was there watching over me while i was taking exams, and he knocked over a box of classroom supplies...and i knew it was him, cause no one was around it, and i wasn't close enough to touch it. and there was the distinct smell from his funeral there for me...
second time in our old house, we had candles you turned and were battery powered. they were on top of my moms hutch, and too high for me to reach. and they turned on by themselves, and me and my mom could never explain why...so we believe it was him.
I feel him watching over me, and i believe the spirit has the choice to either stay or go, and i think some stay to be with their loved ones for a little longer, because they were not ready to move on with their life.
Like most, I believe anything is possible.
My brother passed away May 2, 2008 and I always feel that he is here with me guiding me to be better and to help our family out in anyway that he can.
I have never seen him per say but I can feel him. If this is something that I am projecting than maybe it is because he always told me that he would be here to help when we needed it.
I would love to be able to see him again and even to have him in the same room again.
With just losing my mom, this is pretty touchy for me.
Yes I think they do linger sometimes to watch over you,and to make sure that you are ok....some people are able to see them while others can not. They may be just as grief stricken as those that they left behind so yes I would recommend talking to him.
I believe that maybe your father was just not ready to move on....or maybe he didn't think you were ready to say goodbye. he may need to hear that you are ok and he can let go now. I work in the medical field and there has been many times that a resident would be on their deathbed until the familly members .told them they were ok and they told them they could go now.
Maybe try tellling him that you are ok...and will be ok if he moves on...tell him you love him and will miss him but his time has come.
"Believe", if it comforts you! My mate died in my home after a terminal illness. I believe his spirit came to me a few weeks after he passed. He was cremated & ashes are in my memorial garden I talk to him all the time. Embrace him his spirit is always their watching over you. I feel this is so for myself!
Loved ones whichdie are only absent in body but not in spirit. Their body is gone, however they remain with us. Such as thing is truly life after death, regardless of your religious beliefs surrounding such.
DrakonusTheMalevolentOne, I totally agree with you.. I feel that our loved ones come and check on us..
Especially parents, the need to always watch over their children and protect them.
Angels or spirits, many times i had thought the death of my brother and grandfaher was unexpected. yet sometimes the vibes i feel is they are with me yet.
but rational reasoning is no, but my inner gut says yes.
my thoughts are may be he had unfinished bussiness with you or that may be he is protecting you from something...my father is terminally ill and i have went to him to tell him to watch over my 6 year old brother and make sure he lets us know he is still here...that may have been the wrong thing to say. iam a firm believer that our loved ones can and will watch over us even thoe iam 41 i feel i still need my daddy i feel threw belief that he will be there ....and may be your one of the lucky few to have that wonderful exp iam sure it is meant to be a comfort not a spook
he might find that, even in death ,he should be around you as well as your family. protection may be a reason or your father could just be there out of love for his relatives...
In any of these paranormal incidents, all we (everyone who did not experience them) can merely speculate. Many people do hold onto the belief that not only tormented souls stick around our plane of existence. Perhaps your father just wants to watch over you, or perhaps the lasting depression of losing a parent has taken a toll on your senses. It is hard to let go, and humans have a way to grasp at straws to keep their loved ones around before they can accept mortality and live with it.
ok well it could be that he has unfinished business to figure this out is he trying to make contact? is he reaching out to you? or it could be a random spirit that latched on to your stong emotions of your father and is just taking his form, if this is a pacifist spirit then its just there to cause confusion, if it was an evil or malicious spirit it would have let you know by now i'm sure you can figure out which it is since you knew you father more than anyone else.
He may be watching over you or he may still have things to do before he cross over
I can tell you what i know of family memeber's haunting one another. They are your gardian angle. They are trying to tell you of something that is to come. Or they just care and want to stay with you. They might even be attached to something that you have inherreted of his.
my grandmother died a couple of years back and after she died we had an alarm clock of hers that was broken but went off every morning at 5 am after she died it was wierd and one year after she passed it stop
i have the same problem hun. my x has been dead 3 yrs now.he haunts me when i least expect it and i don't know why he does this.
I believe that he is there by his choice of watching over you and trying to protect you.Alot of times ghosts will stay behind to protect and watch over loved ones. That is why they sometimes have unfinished business in this world.
I don't think my grandfather wanted to go. He literally wanted to live forever. His spirit stayed for awhile, perhaps to make sure everything was okay with us, especially mom.
does anyone want to go, the fear of the unknown is always in the back of our mind, for the next step we do not know what awaits.
a loss is a dreadful thing to anyone, and emotions are there, and memories which flash playing with the idea of real and day dreams.
I think it is your father's ghost and he might be staying there because he loved you too much when was alife and he doesn't want to leave you
The Death of a loved one. Difficult subject for some to talk about I would imagine.
But I'll give it a go.
In 1995 my father was forever being hospitalised. He had already been through bowel cancer and a triple heart bypass, but still suffered with Angina among other things. The last time he was hospitalised, he told me he was afraid that he would be discharged, so I gave him an amethyst crystal that I had attuned to for years prior to that. Kinda like my stone so to speak. He took it, but he was not a believer, until he saw that his heart moniter had normalised as soon as he took the gift. That calmed him down considerably. But while it worked temporarily, it was not a cure per se, only for his fears. That same night, earlier the next morning I awoke with a startle from a dream that I had and was looking at the phone next to the bed. My then husband asked what was wrong as I was also terribly upset. Just as he was just about to ask for a response, the phone rang. It was the hospital ringing me to tell me that my father had passed 10 minutes prior to them calling me.
The dream that I had, was of me snatching that same crystal back, which when I awoke was completely engulfed by guilt for when that phone rang I knew what it was about. The guilt was overwhelming and it did affect me for some 2 weeks afterwards. But then another dream was had, where he appeared to me and hugged and kissed me telling me he is alright and no longer in pain, which then lifted all that guilt from me.
But there's a slight twist too. He was the type of father, old fashioned like you wouldn't believe. lol. The first video player that he ever bought, he controlled the remote solely, no-one was to touch it. lol. But after his death, my then husband and I were laying on the couch watching a movie and then all of a sudden it began to fast forward. As hub then was a psychic rock and total athiest, he asked why I was fast forwarding the movie, and I just looked at him puzzled and then looked at the coffee table which was about 3 feet from the couch, and said "but I'm not, there's the remote". lol. And when I told him that I sensed dad, he scoffed. I said ok, then I'll prove it to you. And by simply saying, "Dad, that's rude we're watching that", it stopped fast forwarding and began to play naturally. So spirit can return to loved ones. Even now it still happens. lol. My father hated animals too, just old fashioned in the way that he hated being tied down by them. But when I became his carer and he stayed with me for a few weeks, he kinda got attached to one of my cats, an older ginger tabby. My father had a particular routine, that he did everyday without fail. And my cat used to sit quietly and watch him do this routine. Even AFTER he died, my cat would sit there and "watch" as if he could still see dad doing his thing.
With my mother, when she passed - well that is a whole new story.
But one thing that I do believe the most though, is that people DO really know or sense somehow, when their time is coming. How I do not know, but I've seen it more than a dozen times now with people that I have known in the past who have passed.
Spirit is still very much a mystery in many ways. And oh! Apologies for rambling, but tried to be as detailed, yet concise as possible.
A.
I believe it's because he wants to still be close to you. If you fear he is trapped then you should ask him if he is. He is the only one who can answer your questions.
he could be watching over you. if it bothers you have a seance'. have his spirit called upon and ask if he has unfinished business.
I don't know why it is happening in your case in particular.
When my grandfather passed away my grandparents were babysitting my newborn cousin. My grandpa had always been a funny teasing kind of person. When my grandma was trying to bring him back, with 911 on the phone telling her what to do, a neighbor was down the hallway holding my baby cousin.
My grandpa had always been a funny teasing kind of person. His favorite thing to do to babies was come up behind whoever was holding them and make them giggle(a type of peek-a-boo, if you will).
Well, my grandma on the phone with 911 was instructed to do things to try to bring my grandpa back and she was successful....but only for a second. The strange thing was that it was at that second that the baby started to giggle(he was being held facing the bedroom where our grandparents were).
The lady holding him wrote my grandma a note a few weeks later about how she knew it was my grandpa saying good-bye to our youngest cousin, who was not going to get to know grandpa.
If you knew my grandpa, that's exactly how he would leave us....making someone laugh.
I know he is still here because whenever I get the feeling he is around I always end up seeing a chevy s10, same color and everything as my grandpa drove.
When they are not prepared to go just yet, their spirit can hang on for a while just to make sure their loved ones are okay. My father wanted to make sure my hubby was doing his job, taking care of us. When they are sure their loved ones will be alright, then they are ready to move on. My ex father-in-law wanted to see his first grandson. He died when I was in my 9th month.
I lost my Mom too and it has been real hard going between finding meaning in coincidences and explaining them away. I don't want to bullshit myself, but I also don't want to rationalize away what could be a message from my Mom.
I am really into the paranormal and believe in ghosts, etc., always have, but when Mom passed and I haven't seen what I thought I would, meaning an obvious manifestation, then my faith in my faith in after life has been shaken. I am still working on it all, trying to sort it all out and see how I feel about it all now.
What was weird is that Mom and I always said that whoever went first, would come back and let the other know we were still there. Though I have dreams all the time, it's not quite the same. I know they communicate through dreams the most. But these aren't message dreams. It's more me working my feelings out in them about her leaving.
If you are actually seeing your father, then be grateful, love every sign, because some of us are still waiting on those shadows.
The dead usually stay with us because of unfinished business or because of a wrongful death .it could be that your father was just worried about you and how you would react to his death ,maybe you should talk to him and tell him that if it is him , you will be fine and that its ok for him to leave you now.
yet on that perception, is anyone ready to die, and at that moment we all have unfinished business. didn't say goodbye to someone or bills unpaid or grandkids or kids being married.
I believe your Father is still there watching over you. Possibly trying to comfort you and let you know he is ok. I would not be afraid, but take comfort in his presence.
I think that your Father just wants to make sure all his loved ones are ok.
Both my Grandads have passed away, but whenever i have a problem i can feel them with me to help me through...
Maybe yor Father wants to help you grieve by just letting you know that he's only gone in the physical, his spirit and everything that matters is still with you and your family.
Sorry for your loss.
many things could be the reason as to why he is still there but the only way to truly know this is to ask your father but that is a bit hard to do, and even then you may not get the answer you want to hear, most of the time the person who dies he or she either does not think he or she is dead or cant believe it, this is the hardest ones to help with that is just in my eyes
I think your father's watching out for you. Unless destructive things start happening talk to him nice just like normal, eventually he will move on when he sees you can make it on your own.
My mother passed 2 years ago. She's done amazing things for me since she died. She's here at my house a lot. She makes jokes in my dreams about my husband. :)
Don't worry!
maybe he hasn't moved on yet cause he senses you still need him.
Because of my upbringing I know that many who pass tend to stay near family to be sure that they are going to be alright. They will linger to check on you and are often as reluctant to leave as you were for them to go.
In the case of my grandfather, my grandmother made a special dinner for just herself and him, set the table and everything - then closed the doors for the two of them -she in dress attire and he in spirit, to have a farewell dinner together. She told him she was fine and that he could go on.
We never sensed him again after that.
I lost my best friend, 3 years ago, to a senseless gun crime. Ever since the day he died, I have felt his presence around me. At night, I can feel his arms around me, making me feel safe, warm and loved. Sometimes while driving down the road, my radio will start changing stations by itself, I will look over to the passenger seat and say with a big smile "Love you to, Pat" and than I will feel a caress on my cheek and the radio stops changing.
I know it is his way of telling me that he is alright, and that he still loves me and protects me.
I whole heartedly believe in ghosts, they are all around us, everywhere. Yes, some can be dangerous...if they are angry about something, but most of them are harmless and just want to protect those that they love.
i think that depending on wether or not he got a chance to say goodbye that may be why hes there... or like others have said that hes choses to stay inbetween worlds to watch over his family... as for seeing him that just his way of letting you know hes still there for you guys... i used to have dreams when my grandfather passed away where wed hold conversations in my sleep and i would actually talk allowed... the day before he passed i talked to him and i told him that i was coming but he said he didnt want me to see him since he was soo sick... he thought it would hurt me worse... when i got ready to leave i got a call saying he had passed... i had dreams for a whole year where wed talk and say how much we missed eachother... the strange thing was that we were always in some one elses home... finally the last dream i had he came to me and told me that he had to leave, and that it would be ok... he gave me a hug and i actually felt some one hug me in my sleep i woke up with goose bumps and never had those kinds of dreams again... maybe hes here untill you get passed your greiving period... he might want to make sure your going to be ok with out him...
I doubt that your father is trapped. I bet it's that he wants to be there to keep a watch over you and your family. My grandmother passed not that long ago and I can still feel when she's around. I think he's just trying to get your attention to tell you that he's still there watching over you.
My wife's aunt wanted to make sure her last wishes were carried out. She wanted to make sure that my wife took her antique bedroom set. She passed a few days after she knew we had it. Her spirit lingered because it felt like home.
It is quite possible he is trapped. Or he is trying to get a message to you. The mind has a funny way of doing things to you after traggedy as well. I could say try and communicate with him and maybe you can find out
I just lost my younger brother last month and my father a couple of years ago.My father stays around waiting for his love to pass we assume this is why he still walks around the house and that he keeps an eye on the twin grandaughters he never met.My younger brother how ever came only one time to me after his passing and it was to let me know he crossed over but I am not sure if he did. My mom asked him at his death bed while he slept in his coma to come and see me so that i might say good by. I really think your father is with you so like people have said say hi let him know you know he is there.
Perhaps it is what was mentioned above that he doesnt realize he is dead,or he is still here to protect you.I myself would try talking to him .Maybe he wants only to say something before he passes on.
Ghost Town ( A dark comedy) put very well, we the surviviors hold back the deceased. It is the surviviors that need to let go, not a bad movie, and a message to take pause for.
Well, it could be numerous reasons, such as:
1. He enjoyed being with you/your family so his soul decided to stay with you.
2. Something could've happened in his life, as in something tragic, or something he felt as if he could not complete in his lifetime so his spirit stays to try and complete this.
Those are just 2 commonly believed ideas of why people stick around after thier passing, and im assuming you aren't afriad since it was your father, although if you are, there really isnt a reason to be, because he is your father, and wont hurt you. I myself have a few ghosts that i've seen in my own home, that i dont have any previous knowledge of, although some of the older people in my neighborhood said that they remember the people that lived there as i described them to them, and i myself think it's neat to have the experience to have an occurance with a ghost. But, more then likely, he is probably just staying to let you know he is with you always.
I never met my Uncle Jean, he died over 30 years ago. When I went to help pack of my Mammy's (grams) house a few months my 2 year old son was with me. He has never heard us speak of Jean's name before and one morning while I was getting dressed he pointed in the corner and repeated uncle Jean three times. Of course I got freaked and hurried out of the room. (the house had a bad feel to it). I'm not sure if he was there to watch over his Mom or to maybe even see my son , his nephew (whom looks exactly as he did at that age). The point is I think our loved ones will always be connected to us even if we never met them.
I think it may have been a choice to stay, but rather than just assuming I would want to get an expert to come and maybe contact him. It may not even be a ghost, rather more of a playback, where you can see things that have happened before (sorry can't remember what it's called)
There are many reasons your father could be around still. He may not realize he has passed, he may just want to let you know he loves you and is okay, he may just not be ready to go on.
As stated in one of the first posts, it may not be your father. If something happens to make you afraid - you can be sure that is not your father and should do a cleansing immediately. I will be happy to walk you through one.
You should sit and meditate - it could allow your father to pass a message to you. Also, if you have had a very hard time accepting his death - you could be keeping him here. If this is the case, you can e-mail me personally and I can speak to you privately.
Daemona
i am sorry you lost your father dear.
i believe in my heart and soul that your father was chosen
to be your guardian angel to watch over you and protect you.so just relax do not worry dear.he has a purpose for being there still.when the time is right he will cross over.
in the mean time just talk to him.
*hugs*
My thaughts are that maybe he is choosing to be around his loved ones. He might just want to make sure your ok and just reassure you that he's still gonna be around to look after you and look down on you...
I think your father is staying around to make sure his family is well protected. A lot of times people tend to forget about the afterlife and stop thinking about the ones that they once deeply cared for. And a lot of other times you think that they aren't there for you anymore. He is just showing you all that he loves you very much and he will always be there. Make sure you talk to him and let him know what your thinking. When someone close to me died i kept a note book full of letters just to him and some days i would come home from school to find the note book opened on my bed as if someone had been reading them but no one would have been at the house and my bedroom door was locked and only i have the key. So even if you don't feel like talking out loud write him letters he will get them and he will read and cherish them.
He might be protecting and watching the household or just trying to warn you on something he might be trying to get your attention in this way..
Do you feel comfortable with the spirit?
Do you feel as there something that must be told to you..
Maybe you should built a small altar with your dad picture on it and place a bowl of water and place white flowers on a vase and other things that belong to your dad light white candle and incense. place a white table clothes.... if you would like to place a bowl of rice or fruits or cup of water in the morning and ask for guidance surely you will get an answer too what taking place.... like a butsudan ..... place a bible if that what your dad believe in or what ever beliefs your ancestor practiced..... Hope everything works out for you.....
My Mother died around four years ago and my father died at the beginning of February. I felt her around often right afterward. It was like someone who was smoking a cigarette stood right behind me. She smoked a lot in her real life but it was Alzheimers that killed her. My Father was upset a lot off and on after she died. I didn't get the feeling of her though a few months after.
When he got really sick just before passing I felt her presence. He passed and I was so upset, more so than when my Mother died and I don't know why. I didn't feel him around really but I had this dream. I dreamt one of my couches was moved over closer to the opening of the kitchen. I looked on the couch and saw a friend of one of my grandsons sleeping there. I looked away and then looked back and it was my Dad stretched out on the couch. I sort of stammered and said, "but I, I thought...." and trailed off. Then I said, " are you o'kay? He said with a big smile (he looked slightly younger as well), I'm just fine. He then disappeared. That was that and have no feelings of him being here at all. My Mom would hang around over at my oldest daughters. Her two youngest children, a boy and a girl are autistic and she would talk to her daughter who was probably three or so then. When asked who she was talking to she would say, "grandma." My maternal grandmother hung around for years and a psychic told me this and I never spoke of it to anyone really until after that happened. I can't remember his name but he was from England and well known at the time but it was in the 80s, so I have forgotten. I would hear her calling me. I also would have dreams and would not see her but her rocking chair would appear in odd spots in my dreams rocking. There is no doubt he meant her because of something he said when I asked which one. His reponse correlated to something I knew about her that only some family knew and not my daughter who was with me. The hair on my arms raised and I got goose bumps but in a way I wasn't surprised. Even with this and even though I believe in life after death I feel so very orphaned.
Sorry for your loss. This subject is very close to my heart. I have lost many over the years and the most devastating was my 19 year old son. I believe that within the weeks following his death, he did try to communicate to all of us close to him that he was okay. As a matter of fact, he came to my best friend in a dream and told her specifically to 'tell my mom it didn't hurt and i love her'. He chose to move on as much as I wanted him to stay. He accepted what happened to him and continued on his journey on the other side, it is I who finds it hard to let go. I believe if a spirit remains, it is because of unfinished business or they do not realize they have crossed. And it is up to us to communicate to them that it is alright to go. Speak to him, you don't have to meditate to do so, just talk, he'll hear you, and let him know all is well and it's okay to move on. I'm not saying he will.........may take some time to convince him. I'm just saying they do hear us and it's always comforting to speak with them, whether one sided or not. I wish you much comfort through your grief and hope I've helped a little.
I also am sorry for your loss. This reminds me of a song by: Toad the Wet Sprocket called : Begin (off the album Dulcinea)
Here are the lyrics to Begin
-
Are you given vision
Are you second sight
Are you older than your life
Eighty days of sorrow
Endless more in sight
Still you child burn bright
And you see me crying again
And you hold out your little hand
Lead me shaking to his room
I thought I'd never see again
Close the door behind you
Turning out the light
Press a flashlight up against the wall
You say this is how we knew him, in a little egg
It opened up and this is daddy now
Now you're stepping back towards me
Til the room is bathing in light
And the answer there before me
There's no ending when we die
Are you sleeping here beside me
Are you shining bright as the sky
Are you breathing now inside me
There's no ending when we die
Basically the song to me is about someone having visions of someone, in some matter of form, whether as shadows or light, of their daddy after he has passed away. I think the song is an example of maybe some of what maybe occurring in your life. As the song states in the end, There's no ending when we die. The song is chilling to listen to as are the lyrics, but they are lyrics I have learned from and has opened my mind even more to the suggestion of resurrection and how the spirit and soul don't ever die. Your father is still alive in spirit & soul and is communicating to you in ways, that only he knows how to at this point. It's the only way he can, to let you know he is still there, even if he can't be there in the flesh or actually speak to you. As the song starts out - Are you given vision
Are you second sight
You can't actually see him in the flesh, but this is his way of giving you his vision, so you will know he is present in your life still in some matter or form.
That happened to my cousins. Their father died of cancer and they could hear him waling around upstairs when they were in the basement. When they would check no kno would be there. They always figured it was him. In my opinion it could be because he is worried about you, that what we thought with my uncle. while alive he cared about his family so much that it would make sense that even after life he would want to stay and protect and watch over them.
my mom died in 2002 when i was barely 13. I've had several other family members and one or two friends die since then and have had countless things happen that I, my dad,and sister can't explain. Weird smells that we didn't smell before. We knew it was a family member or friend but never really knew who.
I'm somewhat sensitive in that I can feel when someones around i just can't pinpoint who it is i'm feeling. Sometimes i feel as if everyone in my life thats deceased is around.
It may be that your father has come back to check on you and see how you are doing. When people come back as ghosts it can be a variety of reasons. Some may have been mentioned in other posts on this thread. If he does want to check on you there's not need to be afraid or frightened. Let him check on you and even say hi to him if you feel him there.
The body is an anchor to space and time, and all things material. The soul has no concern for this world after it's ascendance; however concerns of the body/soul pair are released at the bodies seperation from soul which are no longer constrained by space and time; they are but "ghosts" of the body/soul pair and not of the soul.
I feel that both my mom and my grandfather watch over me,one of his favorite things was a dragonfly and there is always one around me.
Maybe he is there to watch over you or your mind manifests his presence in order for you to deal better with his passing.
Perhaps he feels you still need him around. Or that he needs to tell you something that he should have said before he died. Sometimes our grief can hold a loved one here until we let go of them.
You can try talking to him try to get him to give you a clue as to why he is still here. And be open for responses.
I would hope that our dead loved ones were not watching us because they would only be able to see the pain we go thru and not be able to offer any real assistance.
When my dad passed away, my mom claimed similar events occured. She could smell his cigarette smoke, or think that he had just entered the room. Over time those occurance stopped. My mom hasn't mentioned anything about them for years now.
I visit his grave several times a year. At first, soon after he died, he seemed close. Then over time, he seem more distant. It has been 15 years since he died. I don't know if I my memories of him are fading or something else. But the trips to the cemetary aren't as moving as they were years ago. I take my kids to visit his grave, but they were quite young when he died, and they barely remember him. I don't think they feel a connection at all.
Perhaps he just wants to make sure you're okay. particularly if you had a difficult time dealing with his passing.
My ex husband's Mother died of a heart attack in her sleep. A few say they saw her especially her neighbor who was close to her. She asked her to watch after her cats. Unfortunately almost immediately after she died the cats ran away. My ex felt bad about that for a long time because she loved her cats so much.
My apologies for your loss. The death of a loved one is rarely an easy thing to deal with. As to why he might still be around, I agree with what some have previously posted, that he might be hanging around to watch over the family he so loved in life.
Another, less pleasant possibility, is that these are grief induced...I hesitate to use this word...hallucinations.
The mind often deals with grief using any method it possibly can, and uses every trick in the book to maintain its sanity in times of stress.
Perhaps you need to simply take time to yourself, to allow your subconscious to rationalize what has happened.
Again, I'm sorry for your loss.
I guess your dad still feels the need to take care of his child.
He is still there to look after his family and make sure that you guys are okay.
I don't think his soul is trapped. I just think that he wants to fulfill his duty as a father and family member.
my mom died in 03 and it took me a long time to get over her death. But i never stopped kicking myself for not spending more time with her .And for my dad pulling the plug without telling me so i could say my respects.things happened for a long time afterwords at my dads house still do but not like when she first died .just give it time and it will subside .
Could be one of two things
1.) he could be watching over you
2.) he could be trapped because of some sort of relationship with someone in the house hold.
