Not to mention, they can predict when the world will end but, they couldn't predict their own demise.

To me, this whole 2012 thing is just another false pile of lies just like all the times Nostradamus predicted the world would end on such and such dates.

Look at how so many freaked out over Y2K. People actually stayed home December 31st 2000 waiting for the power to go out in the entire universe.
I will believe it if / when I see it. I'm not saying it won't happen. It very well could. But, I won't live in fear like some already are.

I for one believe that everyone will be getting ready for Christmas and people will be traveling around the world to meet up with family and friends. On December 21, everyone will be at or soon be at where they will want to be for Christmas and will be partying and celebrating an end to yet another year and looking forward to the beginning of a new year. I do not believe that the world will come to an abrupt end. There is no way of predicting that in my eyes. There have been so many dates and stories set for the end of time already over the past many many years and we are still here. We will be here for many many years to come.

Actually nothing but a new beginning of cycles will occur.. Its the end of the Myan cycles and they begin all over again.. If anyone believes the critical hype of the so called "end of times" then you should really do more reseach on the culture. In 2009, a History Channel presentation of "Decoding the Past", discussed the last page of the Dresden Codex.




The last page of the Dresden Codex shows the destruction of the world by water. Waves gush from the mouth of a dragon. More flood waters pour from sun and moon symbols on the underside of the monster's body. An aged goddess also pours flood water onto the Earth. At the bottom of the picture crouches a ruler of the underworld. Above the picture, about half of the 15 glyphs have been destroyed, but a few of the remaining ones consistently refer to "Black Earth" or "Black on High."

Now since half of the glyphs have been destroyed many can come up with several conclusions. As stated in the History Channels theories. Honestly I believe it is more of a washing of the land a clean slate or starting over as I stated above. The beginning of a New Codex. Since many of the writings have been destroyed by Spanish Christians thinking it was the works of the Devil "LMAO"

here we go I've been waiting for one of these threads for a long time.....

2012 is not the end it is part of it thought as we have all noticed there are a lot of weird occurances happening around the world. weather is one thing that is just the tip of the ice burge. take montana i grew up there and tornatoes were unheard of but one just whipped through downtown billings in mid june!!! that is just not possible in that climate and topography but the climate has been changing everywhere. mountains with tornados it sounds like sci-fi but it's true. hurricanes are more powerful and earthquakes are getting more numerous. the gravitational pull of the universe holds us in place every thing in the universe is effected by gravity. and what the myans discibe in their calander is not an end to the world but a naturally occuring phenominom, where all the planets in the solar system as well as our sun aline with the center of the galaxy. and no one knows what happens at that time but there is evidance to indicate a mass extinction, because it happen every time right around the time of the alinement. which could be cause by a gravitational phenominom. it happens aproximetly once every 25,800 years. but as i said before no one knows what will acctually happen but i think that if there is a weather pattern shift that happens "which is happening" then humans will survive because we are very adaptive creatures but there will be many casualties, because of starvation brought on by crop failures and mass extinctions. but that only if we don't kill each other over the last bit of food. which with nukes and A bombs we could easily turn on each other and destroy the last of the world that is furtile. places like the african dessert might become furtile and american could very well turn into a wasteland. if that happens you cane bet you abbs that we will come in guns a blazing to conqure the land. that's just the way most americans are as a whole.


now with nostradamus' predictions he never said the world would end around this time he said that the country of "libertus" would have the third and final "anti-christ" and that he would be thrusted into power in a time of natural disasters that distroy the country economically and make poor choices regarding it, that will cost more lives then even "hister" did. this "anti-christ is identified as a man of "false peace" that is marked as a "man of black" you can look this up! at the bottom of my comment are just a few of nostradamus' predictions.
remember these have been translated and retranslated and are not completely accurate. some took the liberty to change words like libertus and turn them into liberty when the nation of libertus is what he says the third anti-christ will come from.

I really just wanted a thread to discuss the many scenarios surrounding this date... for example...

I'm not sure if anyone read in the news earlier this month, about people usually not able to view the aurora borealis, were going to get a chance to see it, much farther south than normal, it is very interesting and ties in with this NASA scenario. I will add the link to the article below.

IT IS midnight on 22 September 2012 and the skies
above Manhattan are filled with a flickering curtain of
colourful light. Few New Yorkers have seen the aurora
this far south but their fascination is short-lived. Within a
few seconds, electric bulbs dim and flicker, then become
unusually bright for a fleeting moment. Then all the lights
in the state go out. Within 90 seconds, the entire eastern
half of the US is without power.

A year later and millions of Americans are dead and the
nation's infrastructure lies in tatters. The World Bank
declares America a developing nation. Europe,
Scandinavia, China and Japan are also struggling to
recover from the same fateful event - a violent storm, 150
million kilometres away on the surface of the sun.

It sounds ridiculous. Surely the sun couldn't create so
profound a disaster on Earth. Yet an extraordinary report
funded by NASA and issued by the US National Academy
of Sciences (NAS) in January this year claims it could do
just that.

Over the last few decades, western civilisations have busily sown the seeds of their own destruction. Our modern way of life, with its reliance
on technology, has unwittingly exposed us to an extraordinary danger: plasma balls spewed from the surface of the sun could wipe out our
power grids, with catastrophic consequences.

The projections of just how catastrophic make chilling reading. "We're moving closer and closer to the edge of a possible disaster," says
Daniel Baker, a space weather expert based at the University of Colorado in Boulder, and chair of the NAS committee responsible for the
report.

It is hard to conceive of the sun wiping out a large amount of our hard-earned progress. Nevertheless, it is possible. The surface of the sun
is a roiling mass of plasma - charged high-energy particles - some of which escape the surface and travel through space as the solar wind.
From time to time, that wind carries a billion-tonne glob of plasma, a fireball known as a coronal mass ejection (see "When hell comes to
Earth"). If one should hit the Earth's magnetic shield, the result could be truly devastating.

The incursion of the plasma into our atmosphere causes rapid changes in the configuration of Earth's magnetic field which, in turn, induce
currents in the long wires of the power grids. The grids were not built to handle this sort of direct current electricity. The greatest danger is at
the step-up and step-down transformers used to convert power from its transport voltage to domestically useful voltage. The increased DC
current creates strong magnetic fields that saturate a transformer's magnetic core. The result is runaway current in the transformer's copper
wiring, which rapidly heats up and melts. This is exactly what happened in the Canadian province of Quebec in March 1989, and six million
people spent 9 hours without electricity. But things could get much, much worse than that.
Worse than Katrina

The most serious space weather event in history happened in 1859. It is known as the Carrington event, after the British amateur
astronomer Richard Carrington, who was the first to note its cause: "two patches of intensely bright and white light" emanating from a large
group of sunspots. The Carrington event comprised eight days of severe space weather.

There were eyewitness accounts of stunning auroras, even at equatorial latitudes. The world's telegraph networks experienced severe
disruptions, and Victorian magnetometers were driven off the scale.

Though a solar outburst could conceivably be more powerful, "we haven't found an example of anything worse than a Carrington event", says
James Green, head of NASA's planetary division and an expert on the events of 1859. "From a scientific perspective, that would be the one
that we'd want to survive." However, the prognosis from the NAS analysis is that, thanks to our technological prowess, many of us may not.

There are two problems to face. The first is the modern electricity grid, which is designed to operate at ever higher voltages over ever larger
areas. Though this provides a more efficient way to run the electricity networks, minimising power losses and wastage through
overproduction, it has made them much more vulnerable to space weather. The high-power grids act as particularly efficient antennas,
channelling enormous direct currents into the power transformers.

The second problem is the grid's interdependence with the systems that support our lives: water and sewage treatment, supermarket
delivery infrastructures, power station controls, financial markets and many others all rely on electricity. Put the two together, and it is clear
that a repeat of the Carrington event could produce a catastrophe the likes of which the world has never seen. "It's just the opposite of how
we usually think of natural disasters," says John Kappenman, a power industry analyst with the Metatech Corporation of Goleta, California,
and an advisor to the NAS committee that produced the report. "Usually the less developed regions of the world are most vulnerable, not the
highly sophisticated technological regions."

According to the NAS report, a severe space weather event in the US could induce ground currents that would knock out 300 key
transformers within about 90 seconds, cutting off the power for more than 130 million people (see map). From that moment, the clock is
ticking for America.

First to go - immediately for some people - is drinkable water. Anyone living in a high-rise apartment, where water has to be pumped to
reach them, would be cut off straight away. For the rest, drinking water will still come through the taps for maybe half a day. With no electricity
to pump water from reservoirs, there is no more after that.

There is simply no electrically powered transport: no trains, underground or overground. Our just-in-time culture for delivery networks may
represent the pinnacle of efficiency, but it means that supermarket shelves would empty very quickly - delivery trucks could only keep running
until their tanks ran out of fuel, and there is no electricity to pump any more from the underground tanks at filling stations.

Back-up generators would run at pivotal sites - but only until their fuel ran out. For hospitals, that would mean about 72 hours of running a
bare-bones, essential care only, service. After that, no more modern healthcare.

In part though,when planets and the Sun Align, diallel lines between the sun and its aligned planets provide a flow channel for electrons and photons along with other atomic particles causing changes in our magnetic field.
During solar max,the changes in the magnetic field coupling the earth to the sun are at their max peak .It is these changes in the magnetic field that induce changes in solar emissions from the sun, which in turn, affects many things on Earth, such as communication systems, weather systems along with the probability of earthquakes, volcanic activity, and the intensity of our own magnetic field.
We see evidence of this daily.Ever notice that at during certain times of the year ora certain time of day you might experience some trouble with televison or radio broadcasts?

I don't know, I don't want to make any assumptions, all I know is that the Mayan calender ends on 21st December 2012 on the winter solstice when the Sun reaches the lowest point in the sky, and enligns with the centre of the Milky way galaxy. There is a blackhole in the centre of our galaxy. We will just have to wait and see.

Pisese being the last age. and yes the ages move in the oposit dirrection as the 13 signs and yes there are 13. one just isn't recognized. I think that if anything there will be a few high tides some sever weather and possibly a nice light show in the sky that may or may not cause a few short black outs but nothing else. but speculating about it does nothing to help it as for me who knows i might be at home chillin' or i might go out and party there are bound to be some once in a lifetime parties out there. But if you were to do anything to prepare for it I'd say do what people were suposed to do during Katrina get away from the costs and the fault lines or active volcanos and buy a lot of non-parishable food. Fill up all your containers with water, just in case. And that is the most practical advice I can give on this impractical subject.

It's just a guess but those who know me fear them.

like I said weather and failing crops can be explained by astronomical events and children have been menstrating for a very long time if you only live to be 35 and that's really old then you are bound to menstrate sooner. and there are still children that do my sister was one of them and they said though it was unusual and somewhat rare it was normal. those are natural occurances and have been happening for 1000s of years. The weather changing that is also a natural cycle that is in overdrive due to polution, but still a natural part of the cycle of the planet.

For me personally, I don't care what happens. I don't take things doomsayers say to heart because most of the time, they have always been off the mark in their so called prophecies. As for the Mayans, if we don't know what exactly happened to the culture, or why they left the place, it doesn't mean an unfinished calendar equals the end of times. It just means, they never finished what they started.
I don't believe the world is going to die, i don't believe life will ever end. I think we'll still be here, and we'll always keep coming back for as long as there's energy and a hint of life in the universe, the odds look pretty good from here.

Armageddon day was supposed to happen in 1999, but it did'nt happen. I don't see 2012 as fact, because there is no evidence that the world will end in 2012. Anybody could write a book on 2012, and somebody would beleive what they read in that book. They would develop beleifs and claim those beleifs out as facts to convince other people.

Nobody can say how the world is going to end. Scientists say that the sun will eventually expand into a red giant, and engulf the inner planets in the solar system. All the predicted dates for Armageddon have never been accurate, and there has been so many prophecies.

Even if the world is going to end, there is nothing we can do about, I don't think about it, I just live my normal life.

the reason the black hole in the center is "slumbering" as you put it is because it has no objects in the immediate vicinity to feed off of, having eaten everything near by already. everything close though is moving closer but it wouldn't just skip over all the rest of the galaxy just for us. Physics don't work that way. so relax. Remember we are on the outer rim of the Milky Way and it would have to eat everything else in between before it ate us. Which is a very long way away, I agree with everything else you said both posts. The world will still turn and the idea a black hole is about to gobble is amusing. No, far too much time an effort has been utilized in this particular cosmic mix. However the sign on the wall is obvious, if mankind has failed to comprehend it's minute contribution in the scale of things then that is just "Hubris".

This topic has been discussed here a few times. I don't think the calendar has to do with anything really and the Mayans were not the only ones using it. I see no mass migrations. Aztecs are still alive and Mayans mixed into society a long time ago. I have seen documentaries on that one. I think because the society fell apart, they just didn't create a new calendar. Time marches on and things of the west got assimilated.

Anyway I wrote an article on this a few years ago and I won't even go into the pros and cons of the calendar but NASA has been and other countries worried about the space dust and storms and a number of things in outer space. Some of them fall in the time frame but not exactly even though some have a penchant for wanting to predict. Here is some information I wrote about that I collected. These are only excerpts from a very long article I have been wanting to update.

March of 2006, brought this revelation: “This week researchers announced that a storm is coming--the most intense solar maximum in fifty years. The prediction comes from a team led by Mausumi Dikpati of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR). "The next sunspot cycle will be 30% to 50% stronger than the previous one," she says. If correct, the years ahead could produce a burst of solar activity second only to the historic Solar Max of 1958.”
Mausumi Dikpati is predicting the solar max will occur in that magic year, 2012. Solar physicist David Hathaway of the National Space Science & Technology Center feels it will be much sooner. He states it will start from somewhere around 2010 to 2012. What are the ramifications of a solar max? According to John Roach in an article for National Geographic News, “solar storms are linked to twisted magnetic fields in the sun that suddenly snap and release tremendous amounts of energy. The storms can disrupt satellite communications, cause power outages, and expose astronauts to high amounts of radiation.” This is not a good scenario and this is scientific fact but the exact timeframe is what is being debated upon.

What is helpful with all of the solar storm worries is this project that was announced in March 2007.

“For the first time, scientists can track solar storms from the sun to Earth using the latest images from NASA's twin Solar TErrestrial RElations Observatory (STEREO) spacecraft. The new view from STEREO will greatly improve our ability to forecast the arrival time of severe space weather. Until now, imaging capability did not show the front of a solar disturbance as it traveled all the way from the sun to Earth, so scientists had to make estimates of when the storm would arrive. These estimates were uncertain by a half day or so. With STEREO, scientists can track the storm front from the sun all the way to Earth, and forecast its arrival within a couple hours” (NASA).

It is apparent that the solar flare activity being predicted by scientists is clearly a serious matter if it does indeed happen. According to NASA there will be eleven years of increased sunspot activity and solar flares which will peak in the year…yes, 2012 again. What is the scientific basis to all of this? What NASA has announced specifically is a solar-shift but also a magnetic shift. They say there are direct correlations between these shifts on the sun and our freak weather here on Earth. This is not anything new as far as solar shift cycles. They have been seen to come and go but this time they are saying, “Recent solar flares have gone off the scale, ten times greater than anything previously recorded.”(Carl Peterson)

Dan Eden had this explanation on the Mayan prophecy.

“Our solar system is part of a huge disc shaped collection of stars and planets called the Milky Way. We're located somewhere on the edge of the disc, slightly on top of the narrow disc. I think presonally that things cannot be predicted to such a precise timeframe, but I do think that they are worried. I don't think it has anything to do with a calendar. We have been having freak weather around the planet for a few years. I think it was just the beginning. We are having occasional tornados in California as well and when it does rain, it is hurricane-like at times.

So you could "in theory" state that...

Ignorance from the human population which has resulted in planetary damage (polution, ozone depletion, global warming) compiled with unique galactic allignment we have yet to experience could possibly lead to a chaotic events timed remarkably close to the end of the Myan calander.

There is literally no room for objection to the above statemnet, it is all factual and backed by science. We have been destroying this planet on levels there may be no reversal from. Scientists are tracking the alligment and gravetaional pulls, and 2012 is a monumental year. What will happen remains to be seen, my only question is ....

What is happening is what is called the Procession of the "zodiac cycle": basically that we are aligning with the galactic center of our residing Galaxy. Zil, what is this galactic alignment you speak of? Planets, or other solar systems? Galaxies are very large entities and, as such, the alignment of the things inside them cannot be ascertained with a precision measured by days or years, even by astrobiologists at NASA. Mayans made no such predictions, and the planets in our solar system won't be in any kind of alignment.

There are no warnings or real prophecies by the Mayans that the world will end, merely that the calender wasn't finished. Which could be due to many things, death of the teller, lost their knowledge, decided to stop because they figured someone else would keep doing it when need be.
It could have even been aliens who were trying to teach the Mayans how to do it...and they just didn't get it. The aliens decided to leave and that was it.

I don't believe that the Mayan Calender is anything to worry about.

The clandre does end so we do not know if it continues or just ends. This is the speculation in which humanity looks for answers. If not than they make up a myth or realism in their minds in which they see the end. If the world is too end would we see the signs of destruction before it is to come.

Well Nostradamus predicted that in 2012 the end of the world as we know it will be gone, maybe so as there are too many things happening around the world, floods, tidal waves, droughts, famine and disease and also the threat of the comet hitting the planet, Nature always takes its revenge on those who destroy it, people destroy it.

Nostradamus made thousands of predictions and only a few hundred have been proven I wouldn't take him too seriously. People on the weather channel predict things every day and we know how wrong they can be, especially if you live in Texas. 3) This thread isn't about Mayan predictions... I do not believe they predicted anything. Insight as I said may have been a contributing factor to the end of their calander, it may not have been. Most likely it was the end of the cycle, that is currently closely matching up with science, I would never had come up with in that date and time.

11:11 2012 Investigated.

Some years ago amidst my explorations of occult subjects, I discovered
there was a cult of interest surrounding the specific time 11:11. This
had it seemed come about due to peoples peculiar experiences with
this time, or with the number 1111. Generally speaking this was
explained in the context of synchronicity, meaningful coincidence.

The 11:11 phenomena’s participants would find that most every day they would happen to look at a clock at exactly 11:11
or perhaps 23:11. In time people tried to explain why this was happening, the most popular explanation was that a group of
higher being, or angels, were using it to bring themselves into human awareness. This explanation became very popular
and has spawned numerous groups and indeed books centred around it. This interpretation of 11:11 phenomena is
however not of great interest to most 2012 researchers.

The number 11 in both singular and duplicate form has great importance for 2012 related astrology, prophecy, numerology
and history. Lets just start by making everyone aware that if we take the Mayan symbol for 11 and then duplicate it, flip its
duplicate, shift them both ninety degrees, we have the image of 11:11.

such I rarely brave explaining the role magnetospheric dynamics or other in depth Solar process have to play in respect to
the subject of 21-12-2012. Even respected ‘experts’ on the science behind the workings of our nearest star admit that they
do not have complete models. New understandings are always being reached in this area of astrophysics.

There is no doubt however that the Sun’s often erratic behaviour does have massive effects on our Earth’s biosphere. We
sometimes forget that we do not merely orbit the sun but rather reside deep within its magnetosphere, the invisible part of
the sun that extends out as a spherical bubble enclosing the inner planets. Many experts have contended that changes in
atmospheric ion count, for example, effect human and animal behaviour as well as our bio-clocks. Even influencing
biological, physiological and behavioural patterns of all living things. Certainly we know that some frequencies of radiation
from the sun can effect cell division, or indeed even brain functions. Excess or lack of certain frequencies, and types of
solar radiation have been observed to have radical effects on human beings under laboratory conditions.

The reason why the Sun becomes important in the 11:11 subject is not simply that it is of course central to a solstice point
in our calendar. It also happens to be that the sun’s magnetic field operates a cycle of polarity reversals averaging 11.11
years in length. The next peak of this cycle happens to be in the year 2012 and has been predicted by astrophysicists to
be a very active maximum, possibly the most active since the end of the last ice-age.

Nikola Tesla, the unsung hero of science whom gave us such wonders as alternating current (imagine not having that!),

Quantum theory is odd, not just because its weird predictions are a source of consternation for physicists and philosophers, but because its mathematical structures bear no obvious connection to the real world, as far as we can see. Now Brukner and a small band of physicists want to change that. Their efforts may lead to a better understanding of quantum reality, or expose weaknesses in the theory that will teach us a new and potentially weirder language with which to describe the world. Either way, it is an ambitious quest.

If you want to devise a physical theory, there is a traditional recipe to follow. First, you make observations about how the world works. Next you sieve the data to pick out any patterns. If anything catches your eye, you dress it up in mathematical language. The proof of the theory is in its predictions. If it can tell us further details of how the world works, you have a winning formula.
