Many Sidh and other mythic creatures - including Vampires - are said to have the ability to cast a glamour (a sort of hypnotic spell) upon their victims. A lot of people here claim to be real Vampires, Witches, Werewolves etc, so i was wondering if any of you are able to cast a glamour on your victims. Most Vampires here say their donors are willing and compliant, but if they are under a glamour, could it be truly said that they are consensual?

Any act of deceiving the will does in fact probit the recipient from being willing. As far as being able to do this. No. Not as you would think.

if someone seems under a spell by you in such a way,id say it could just be attraction,a lust.im sure everyone has experienced the feeling in the presence of a certian someone-or them to u.it does almost feel magical, that doesnt make it a glamour spell.

Well, in my opinion, it is quite easy to cast this "Glamour" spell.

I would simply do it with my eyes.

hypnotism is very real - and people have been taken to court for using hypnotism to get people to give them their money, or to take advantage of them sexually. this is very different from a woman wearing lipstick and perfume - it is more like getting someone drunk or using a "date-rape" drug.

maybe a spell, maybe something else. what i am saying is, if you could get what you want by using your will power to temporarily rob a person of their free will, to bend their will to yours - would you do it? i have to admit that i would sometimes be very tempted. when i was younger i would certainly have used it - if i had that power.

now though - i would like to think i would resist using it. i guess the real question is, if i started to use it, would i be able to stop?

I definitely need to study more about this topic because im a real ignorant.

I work in sales, so sometimes we create some specific needs inside the customers mind through psichology. We speak words in a certain way that will make the customers feel that they really have the NEED to buy whatever it is im selling. I can elaborate more on this but if you want to start on the research i recommend you to study the mechanisms of conditioned response by Ivan Pavlov.

Now, Pavlov was a freaking vampire.. HAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!

the Glamour is real. i have had people try to use it on me. i almost succumbed but i suddenly realised what they were doing and i was able to fight back. afterwards someone told me the people i had been talking to were dangerous and powerful black magicians. when i first started talking to them i just thought they were friendly.

I am not any of those things, vampire, were wolf, or any thing like that, but I have heard of glamour. I thought it was when some mythical creature casts a spell on something to make it take on a different appearance, but I have also heard of the thing that you mentioned. A vampires victim going into a hypnotic trance. So yeah I would say that it is real, but it would be hard to tell wether or not the donor was really consentual if it was under a glamour..

I would say yes. ordinary hypnotism is just a form of social compliance, but the Glamour is a form of telepathic hypnotism. whilst the predator distracts the victims mind, he / she plants suggestions telepathically.

Phillip Dick once theorised that just as some people have a higher psychic ability to others, there could be some people who have negative ability - they not only have no psychic ability themselves, but actually act as a dampener to negate the ability of others. there have been ESP testees who have scored well below what would be expected by chance.

there are even rumours that such people have been recruited by government security forces to prevent "remote veiwers" from seeing into secret bases.

of course, rumours and theories are far from proven fact.

that is true. as i said, the more common form of hypnotism is merely an exploitation of social compliance. we see stage hypnotists on TV a lot. but a lot of it is fake - set up. if it were possible for anybody to get anyone to do anything they wanted them to, simply by talking to them for a few minutes, advertising would actually work, and muggers wouldnt need guns and knives. a psychic hypnotist merely uses words to distract you. the real message is planted in the mind subliminally.

That is interesting.... are voids shunned by spiritual entities then... such that they can never experience psychic phenomenon or are they so very powerful in their defences that they cannot be affected by spiritual attack... I ask this because I stayed in a 15th century cottage in Devon overnight... several times that night I was awoken to feel an oppressive pressure pinning me to the bed... as I fought the pressure (in a half-sleep state of awareness yet not "wakedness") I was violently shaken and thrown across the bed... the next morning I was told matter of factedly that the room affected people who stayed there... mostly adversely, but not in any tangible way... she expressed surprise that I did not seem to have become more aggressive or negative towards her after staying there... my good wicca friend told me that I had resisted an attempt at possession without realising it...she told me that I had the gift to resist adverse magic but that this was not a power I could summon... it just was...

some of us have the power to resist or repel such attacks. this is not the same as voids or negative psi - they do not experience such things at all. in our case, i think it is just a natural inbuilt strength. Maybe we are protected, or maybe we were spirit warriors / mages in a former incarnation.this sort of defense can be taught or learned.

I won't say I know a lot about Glamours, but if it is indeed a form of hypnotism, surely the subject couldn't be made to do something that they wouldn't normally do? I know when you're hypnotised you are still aware of what you're saying and doing, and able to refuse to do something you don't want to. Wouldn't it be the same being under a glamour?

¨ whilst the predator distracts the victims mind, he / she plants suggestions telepathically ¨

Thats deep. What i have got to say is that if this power can be used to help the society and the individual then it should be used for that purpose only. The important part for me is the benefit of society and self.

Now, the definition of that benefit must be a very high and undisputable truth.

I can tell you this...

Last three times I have gone out with someone, I had met them at the local dark bar called...The Dungeon. You could percieve it as a glamour spell of such as I am some what like Vampire in blooklyn and Bram stokers Dracula's Dancing scenes.

You see, there is a second floor in the Dungeon, a dance floor. I always dance to a somewhat fast paced song with who I wish to engage with. Always spinning and catching them off guard. Afterwards, we talk for a bit, with an air of mystery surrounding me at all times.

You may consider this to be a sort of glamour working...As the last three, I ended up dating for a year each...The third is my wife.

Draw your own conclusions...If it is a glamour spell, then I use it on my wife all the time. Works every time. We are still very much in love as well.

Speaking of casting a glamour with words. Some skillful practitioners are elected officials that use it to gain your vote. :)

Glamour. I don't think so. Maybe a form of lust. But can't that be done by anyone. It's all in the way you handle yourself or speak to someone. Are you enticing to them? Can you become enticing? Some people have a natural way of intriguing others. I can be very intriguing when I wish to be. But, to say that it would be deemed as nonconsensual is absurd. It's like meeting someone and having sex with them and then wondering if it was consensual. Did anyone say no? Then it's consensual. That's just my personal opinion though.

I don't believe it to be so much of a glamour- but rather a state of mind. People don't realize how powerful their minds are, and the energy they give out can in itself, be pretty powerful stuff. I wouldn't say ones physical appearance changes, rather the energy that surrounds them that would make someone be a more willing participant

The glamour of which you speak is not a spell. It is a trance that happens when the victim looks into the eyes of the one after them, in whatever way they may be. I have had this happen to me several times without intention and it does become a nuisance sometimes.

I always thought glamour was when you changed ur physical appearance to look like someone else. i should read up on it i suppose.

I think that if it is anything similar to hypnotism (like someone, and i apologize for forgetting the user name, mentioned above me) then it is very real. some hypnotists can do some very bad things if they really wanted. most that ive ever come in contact with were very leary about how and when they do it.

Glamour is probably not the word I would have used but it is possible to alter how others view or perceive you. I have never found it particularly hard to do when needed.

glamour is the old word for it. it is not quite the same as the modern use of the word - though it may well be where the word originates. the "rule" about not using magic for personal gain is a quite modern concept too. in older times, the witch depended on magic for a livelihood as well as protection. whether you are casting a spell on someone you want, or casting a spell for someone else for payment, it is still personal gain. it isn't a rule so much as a moral code. even today, there are many who regard this as nothing more than affectation, or fluffy witchcraft.

this really depends on if its just a give and rechieve relationship or if its a mutual trade, i would prefer to have a donor that accepted blood back from me....so there is equality in the matter, i think just getting from someone isnt as good, so i would say if there is a spell affect on donors its cause they arent ready to be vampiric themselves.

Well, the way I'm hearing glamor defined is basically anybody can do glamor if they can be convincing and charming enough. I think that's just being charming, but supernatural powers that enhance that could be considered glamor...

See my post above...

If you really wish to get technical on the subject... anyone can cast a glamour....

The average everyday Joe can do it... Ex: Male or female walks up to another of the opposite sex.... pretends to be everything they are not just with the sole purpose to impress the other individual.... If that person is convincing enough..... then they have indeed just made a glamour.

Seems easy enough to me.

Glamour? mmm would be nice lol. But I think most of the reason people that donate to us do so for reasons of their own. Yes of course there are idiots in this as there are in all human relations. After all modern vamps are in fact human so we tend to have the full range of personalities.

Nw yes donating can be forced and if it is.. its called assult and should be reported to the local police at once.

But I have never had to even resort to pleading lol. Once those close to me find out I need blood as a rule tis hem reaching for a way to draw it for me. I do not believe I have had to ask one of the 4 that donate to me to do so in.. years.

Do I have glamour? or am I simply offering something they wish to do in a way that is.. acceptable to them?

Predators look for the easy mark --- the old, the young, the injured.

A vampire might seek an injured spirit who is easily persuaded.

Yesterday, a friend was telling me about her father --- a shrink --- who had many sexual relationships with his female clients.

An extreme example, but I see similar instances in many relationships. Don't want to excuse the victimizer, but is the glamour in them or in the eyes of the beholder.

Using any kind of power over someone make it non consensual. It just isn't fair. To consent it has to be of your own free will!

Good point. I too am very good at getting people to do what I want. When I worked in sales I was told I could sell a ketchup popsicle to an eskimo in a white fur coat. Lol. I am good at metally getting to people too. I once made a guy choke just my looking at him and saying I wanted him to over and over. Oops.

If you use alcohol to obtain what you want is it consenual? I would think that glamour would be much stronger, another way of intoxicating to get what you want. I would like to say I wouldn't but honestly, I would be sorely tempted at times.

I can say I don't have any knowledge of glamour.. a quick look will tell anyone that.
However.. looks aren't all that I think makes up the power of glamour.
I tend to side with those who think it's the mind and the power and energy transmitted between you and the "intendee". Whether it is right or wrong probably depends on what the intentions and the outcome are to be.
Much is left to chance even when we try so hard not to.

Excellent point. It doesn't take great beauty to create glamour. It is something much deeper. How many times have you looked at two people together who seemed so different and asked yourself, "how the hell?"

As for vampires, I have no idea. For witches yes there is a glamor spell. but if you use it against the other persons will it will come back to you three fold in a bad way, so just don't mess with it.

Glamour

Originally, a "glamour" was a spell cast over someone, particularly to change how things appeared to them.[1] The primary modern meaning of the word relates to fascination, charisma, beauty, or sexual attraction. People, or their lifestyles, can be described as glamourous. Although most words which end in -our in British English are spelled with -or in American English, "glamour" is an exception with the "u" usually being retained. This may be due to its original being Scottish rather than French or Latin. The alternative spelling "glamor" is sometimes used in American English, but not as frequently. (see American and British English spelling differences).

[edit] In fiction
In Christopher Priest's 1984 fantasy novel, The Glamour, the innate ability to turn oneself invisible is to possess the glamour.

In his book It, Stephen King uses the word "glamour" in reference to the creature known as "It" or "Pennywise", saying that it means a creature able either truly to change its shape and/or physical appearance at will, or to be seen as different things by different people.

In Laurel K. Hamilton's Merry Gentry series, glamour is a type of magic used by the fey, and something that the main character Merideth Gentry herself can use quite adeptly, even more so than most pure-blooded sidhe.

In the supernatural television drama Charmed the glamour is a power that enables the wielder to turn into another's physical appearance

Hypnotism is simply a stagey name for hypnosis. One is real, the other a parlor trick. And it has been shown that nobody can be put under a hypnotic spell if they don't wish to be. You can't make a person bark like a dog if they refuse to do so. And you can't make a woman, (or a man) fall for your charms if they aren't open to it in the first place.

Hypnotism could be considered Glamour, but I think many are missing the subtle science of it. In order for hypnotism to be effective, the subject has to initially be consensual. It comes down to suggestion and repetition. (By the way Karnstein - advertising does work and in this same fashion)

Once you have successfully brought the subconcious to the surface, you may begin to introduce suggestions which build on each other to eventually induce the actions you desire from the subject. It is not immediate and most likely would require several sessions. It can be done without the "knowledge" of the subject as long as the initial session was consensual and appealing to their subconcious.

I think that vampires, werewolves, etc.... perhaps excrete a stronger pheromone than humans do. Maybe that is why humans get the feeling that they are under a spell.

I was just curious if anyone considered we all use a "glamour" of some dort? we all try to impree the one we are attracted to. Somettimes some people go a bit overboard. Maybe they are even syccessful -- is this not a glamou? Like being witty? Or miscle-toned?

I believe we all possess "Glamour", but our glamour does not effect all beings the same (i.e., one person may be physically attracted to you, but the one next to them may not be attracted to you) Glamour to my understanding is pleasure from the five sences and is thereby drawing your attention to a specific person, animal or object.
