But I get the feeling the admins are not the only ones getting nasty messages over ratings.

Oh I don’t take these messages seriously, Ive gotten a few in the time since ive become an admin. However tonight I was just not in the mood to simply delete the message and suspend the user, I thought I would share the messages I get with the rest of the people in here so they can see what an admin has to put up with behind the scenes.

Thank you for sharing and I gave that person a piece of my mind. It was inappropriate and this person is just too immature! There should be a place called "hell" to place people like that where we can throw virtual stones and spears and fireballs at them while laughing. Like a penalty box or something. lol

on a previous forum (coupled with a game) people would give out revenge ratings... which did actually do a bit of damage to whatever they rated.

cancers system takes in the raters status level which i believe eliminates that problem ever so slightly. obviously cancer can't go around checking every rating for the bad ones. but premium members can see who voted for them and what they voted.. meaning they could report the bad ones. but i'm not sure if cancer would have the time to go around deleting them. especially if they have such a small impact on the position...

it's sad that such people exist... who just come on sites to cause trouble. i've seen it myself on my other forum where i was an admin and that kinda stuff happens nearly all the time. it's best to just get used to it and ignore them

i think that the message was inappropriate and totaly immature...and no one should have to put up with that kind of abuse. I definitely am going to give them a piece of my mind.^^v^^

i more or less wished the person well, and said that, that attitude wouldn't get her much.

It is amusing tho to see who has rated you what ... and then all of a sudden they notice you got a premium membership and they run along and re-rate you in hopes ya don't notice. I personally don't care what I've been rated .. it's just nice people take the tyme to look at the pictures .. I have nothing spectacular so I dont expect anything!

Some people just have nothing better to do with their time then harass the Mods and other people. If a person’s got a problem with your rating score then they are just jealous that they aren't as creative , if they had really read your profile and looked at your portfolio they would see that you have a lot of talent and that you're actually pretty funny. I mean how many people didn't crack up when they read ...

i have a bit different opinon about this issue:
All the people are stupid (including me)! To work with people is the most annoying job that someone can have, in this case it's the job of an admin., but I am sure that they are aware that this kind of stuff will happen. Power without control is nothing! I think that this display of power you showed us is not a good idea because by doing this you moved a step lower closer to tepes' way of thinking. I think that every enemy (even the stupid and the weak ones) has the right to die honorably! What you did here is this:"I catched a sparrow, i can kill him with a slap, but no i will tie him down and let my worms eat him to death, bit by bit!", which you must admit is not a very honorable way that someone should die. :)
Ofcouse I veiwed the profile after reading the thread and like all the others I rated it bad, but not because of revenge for what she said to you (it's between you and her, it should not be my area of interest), but because it is not a profile at all, and because she reacted so stupid (but you must admit that she is VERY brave! :) )
I'm not saying that what she did is right thing, ofcourse not! But I think that only members that are much higher levels then a whelp, whose words and ratings have some weight, deserve this kind of humiliation if they do something stupid like this.

1. On ya Daire, you got the whole site behind you, showing that all of us at VR support our MODs.
2. I find this very interesting, because a friend of mine actually recieved an aggrovated(not quite abusive) message from a premium member, over the fact that she(my friend) had only given her a low profile or portfolio rating.

Well my message was not related to ratings, i wanted to draw everyone’s attention to the fact that i received a message worded in such a way for no reason, this behaviour is unacceptable. For regular users, premium members or admins. No one should send or receive a message like that on this site.

No, the best thing to do is to block that person and ignore them. I just posted this to show people what admins have to deal with.

I do think a lot of us do have to deal with ignorance regardless of being an admin or not, although I am sure you must be weary of it what with so many members joining up here and I empathise with you.

The block is one of the handiest features on here and I know several people who have had to use it before. Its a shame everywhere you go on the internet you come across this kind of ignorance but these are just the sort of things we have to deal with, and in an adult way.

I think people don't realize that when someone has a high rating, they might have EARNED it...

No matter how much you are loved and respected or how high you're ranked or rated....they is always going to be the few out there who have nothing more productively with their time than try to tie a nice big rope around people's necks and try drag them down to their level..which I would consider having less purpose than pond scum...

Nevertheless, it's up to us, that if we are decent, to not allow it, and to sit and have a nice big laugh at their expense. The only person they are embarassing are themselves...I suppose they are too busy gloating over the "damage" they think they caused to realize this.
