'Who Plays The TV Version of BLADE THE VAMPIRE SLAYER??
David Goyer (writer-director of “Blade Trinity”) is mounting the TV version of “Blade” for Spike-TV!
The new “Blade” is Kirk "Sticky Fingaz" Jones, currently seen in the FX series "Over There", which is now officially over at FX. Sticky is an amazing actor, and it came down to the wire between him and another well known action star.'
For those that don't know, Sticky Fingaz used to be a member of grimy Rap group Onyx.
What do you think?
knowing that you are in england, is it going to be shown on any uk channel?
Don't know yet... I'd guess maybe SciFi Channel might screen it, as they have screened superhero shows before, but it's early days, they haven't finished casting yet!
ok dude, i will keep an eye on this thread for updates ;) hehehe
david goyer didnt really do a good job on blade trinity
so i dont have high expectations for this
Will be something interesting to wait and see what it is like.
SCIFI 411 posted details about when to expect the series to appear:
'David S. Goyer confirmed that he's producing an hour-long television series based on the Blade movies for Spike TV, to begin airing next June.
"We're doing a Blade TV show," Goyer said at CBS' fall press preview in Beverly Hills, Calif., where he was promoting his upcoming SF series Threshold. "I'm co-writing the pilot with [comic writer] Geoff Johns, and it's going to be Spike's first dramatic show, and it's going to air next June."
Goyer also said that the network has ordered 13 episodes of the new series. "It'll be Blade, but it's different than the movies, that's all I can say," Goyer said.
Ain't It Cool News posted a script review of the pilot. The pilot is written by David Goyer & Geoff Johns. The pilot appears to pick up where Blade Trinity left off. Abigail Whistler and Hannibal King will not be in the series. A new character will be introduced - Krista. Krista, recently dishonorably discharged from the U.S. Army, is investigating the death of her twin brother.'
Wesley Snipes sued the makers of Blade 3 ....he was a the producer of the movie and had say in the directer...actors etc...he was the fight stunt corridnator and was over looked by the movie producers....thats why the movie did so poorly...Snipes didn't want the movie made the way it was...he knew it would bomb...and if you look at his acting in it(his face) you will see he hated being in it ....so I doubt a TV show will be any good
i don't even want to think about a blade tv show....i think that it will be horrible...
It's gonna go bad...sticky fingers??? I love sticky and all but...he's no vampire...he's a crack dealing Moeisha dating gun toting(thats probably the only similarity...besides him being black) thug....we'll have to wait and see.
and blade trinity sucked except for the oneliners and the cool gadgets they had.
I'll watch it, but I don't have high hopes. Although with Geoff Johns on board it could be really great.
Blade will just get a bad name (well even worse)
Blade trinity was a letdown...a big letdown
As for a tv show...big flop
i think after 2 weeks it will lose its audience
But then again all the wannabes/slayers would probably watch it to see if they get any tips
hahaha
Something that was expected to happen.
Results:Wait & see.
as good an acotr as he is i don't think he can pull off the character blade...
doesnt sound too interesting, to me. but ill have to check it out just in case its good.
I am not a vampire only a human that is highly curious about vampires I will watch it to see what characteristics it will have with all the other vampire shows that are out.
i personally think a tv series of it will just kill the whole thing. but thats just my opinion
i dont think it will last long but i have been wrong about alot of things
I don't think it will be a long running show... after all the tv shows are seldom as good as the movies they are made after... but i will try and check it out all the same... and judge for myself. :) thanks for the info .
I do not beleive it will be a very good show. Most movies made into a show usually bomb. I have been wrong before, but I would rather watch the movie. and vise versa, a show made into a movie usually don't go to well either. I guess we will just have to wait and see.
lol@deathdealer i agree with you if this vamp show lasts longer then the kindred id be majorly impressive lol
err majorly impressed i meant ,damn quick fingers hehe
Contrary to alot of opinions here, I think a TV series might be a good move for Blade.
Bear in mind Blade didn't start out as a movie, he's a comicbook character, and while the movies translated well, a TV show could really explore the character in more detail than a few 2 hour movies ever could.
And with a bit of luck, it would be shown late enough that the body count wouldn't need to be sacrificed- one of the standout aspects of the movies were the eyepopping, bone crunching ways Blade killed the bad guys.
they should ahve used the guy Keith Hamilton Cobb who plays on the sci-fi t.v. show Andromea as Tyr Anasazi should have played the part of blade
after seeing blade 2
( which was bad..it could be better )
i not going to sit around and wait on this
well I am gonna and wait till I see a couple episodes to form an opinion. that said I think that if they really go with a decent budget and good writing and devolopment of the villians and secondary characters it could sucede if they skimp on any of the above it is dooomed to miserable failure
wolf of wolfspirits
I liked Blade 1 & 2 but dont get me started on 3.. i mean it was ok but the casting was all wrong.. 1st triple H the only reason he was in it was his name. he sucked big time in the movie.. They could have cast a number of other Wrestlers to play a vampire better the Triple H. so i really dont know how it will work on TV.
hmmm i dont know how thats gonna be... hopefully it will be good. But I wont argue with having another vampire show to watch.
ok ok...in defense of the thread...think about Buffy:The Vampire Slayer...the movie was a comedy and the TV show was a drama...that lasted 8 seasons....and I like Blade...so maybe the show will last afew seasons
I did not even know it existed but I am scared to watch it as I think it might take a good movie and drag it through the mud.
well if they do not try to do it on the cheap it should be very good
I hope it makes it. I hated Blade II, but enjoyed I&III. If they keep with the storyline, it will be a good show.
I hope it will be shown in the US but i can't wait to see how they make it.
I hate the Blade TV series idea.
Especially the title actor.
I did like the Crow TV series, even though it was brought into sunlight almost all the time.
Blade TV series, it would not last longer than THE BIRDS OF PREY, did. BOP rocked :(
I have my doubts about this because it is a genre show, and they don't all ways do well. Although that's the same thing I thought about Smallville and love it or hate it Clark Kent is still on the air.
Although I think it would be handelled a lot better by the WB than Spike. Seems that all they have are realitty shows and reruns.
well, seeing how the movies were horrible, id have to say that the series would be too...i think the movies would have been better with someone else cast as blade...but i could be wrong...lol
Might be good or bad, probably will be the only ebonics speaking vampire/slayer in TV history... lol Never be as good as Wesley Snipes though. I will definately check it out when it comes on, please keep us posted.
my opion is the tv shows are never as good as the movie
This was an idea they had back when they made the 2nd BLADE movie. One that I was not too happy about hearing. Sorry to the BUFFY fans but I did'nt like BUFFY. I tend to be very picky over what I like, and dont like. I probley wont watch this show when it airs.... but this has me worried a bit now.... Will this promt other movie writes owners to think about makeing TV shows?
Right there this gives me horrable chills of a badley writen Harry Potter tv drama or cartoon.... or on the even lamer side that MATRIX TV show that was talked about after the last film.
Note - Lucus was smart enough to pull the plug on the STAR WARS TV idea.
As for the old Vampire the maskeraid TV show.... that series ended because the lead died in a motor cycle accident I seem to remember hearing....
You want a vampire TV show that was long running? Go buy the FOREVER KNIGHT dvd box sets on Amazon. There's some great low budget Canadian TV for yeah :)
I'll watch it to give it the benefit of the doubt..but i dont expect it to be that good.
dont know who the guy is and i prlly wouldnt watch it. it would ruin the movies
well i would defintly watch this but somehow i dont think the show will do that well
the series might be kinda cool but then again...blade T was not that great...so just hold my breath and wait for it to come...
I wasn't aware that there was a Blade show coming out. It could go either way. I agree with DarkWolfMan about how Buffy the movie was horrible, but the show was a hit. The show had heart and soul, with comedy in the mix though, where the movie did not. I'm hoping Blade will be able to have that edge, week after week. It's hard to get that right combination, I think.
By the way, I liked Blade Trinity a lot. It was the only one I really liked and watch everytime it's on TV now. ;)
I really dont think the tv show will last I am sorry but when ya watch blade ya expect to see wesley snipes and not to have whistler in there is really gonna suck so I dont expect this show to last more than maybe a couple weeks lol

Greg, sometimes TV shows are better than the movie... Prime example~ Buffy. I know many here didn't even like the show, I did- but either way, the TV show was so far better. Better acting, funnier, better effects, everything.
As far as this one is concerned, I would just have to see how well they do with the storyline, special effects and the passion of the actors.

ok, so we already brought up Buffy and I am a dork for skipping over that... sorry. But nonetheless, true :)
the blade films were very good but a tv series in my opinion would not be such a good idea
who knows...the movies really rocked, maybe the tv version might do just as good...i guess we'll have 2 wait and c lol
I like the movies but come on, do we really want to wear such a character out by placing him on everyday television?
it is probably going to bomb because there is only so much you can do before it starts to get hokey. I mean the first 5 episodes (if their lucky the first season) might be good. but its going to get old QUICK.
I think it will be intresting to see what they do with the show. I'd likle to see it do well there isn't much on the tube that's worth watching, except for Supernatural.
Thanks for the inf. We'll have to wait and see how it turns out. I wonder? Will they start from the beginning or pick up where the movies left off?
As long as its not cheesy (Buffy cheesy) I'm in. Dark Angel on Fox was good, I wouldn't mind some writing like that...
A late response, but truthful any way....
I think I'll cry...
I am not to entirely sure about it surviving, but if it does cool, I just beleive that even with Spike doing it, not all that many cable/sat. shows make it, not to mention it is a genre show which also reduces it's chances at survival, plus i agree on the rap "star" portraying blade, I just do not see it happening, as said before people in the Rap bussiness seldomly make good actors, but I guess it is up to John Q. Public to decide, as far as the WB doing the show, umm Did we not Learn with Kindred???
there making a tv series now?
omg the film wsa crap so why the hell make a series c'mon stop making crappy tv shows!!!!!
lol yes. it would be awesome for HBO:P i cant wait for the sin city tv show!!!!
No insult meant but surely they could have found some one a little better to play the part of Blade..
I can't help but think that the show can't carry the same punch that the movie did-that it will be a little flat comparatively speaking
I'm looking forward to checking it out when it comes on.
Sticky fingaz?!. . .he cant fight!. . .and he is cross eyed!. . .NoOoOo. . .OH WELL. . .the last movie was poop anyway. . .
Hmm.
Interesting subject indeed.
To cast relitively unknown actors would certainly make this more believeable.
Moreso than the movies, I'd hope.
The movies are really good. I can only hope that the tv show will be as good.
I think an important key to actually having any chance of enjoying the show would be to remove all thoughts of Snipes as Blade.
sweet, I'm excited
hey wasn't sticky fingaz in Def Jam Vendetta one and two?
anyone that knows please comment me, I'm too lazy to look it up
Its about time there's a new vamp series.
Buffy was ok, but we need something serious.
in my opinion Snipes was blade and no else shud play him, they shud leave it as it is and not stain the name anymore
I loved Snipes as Blade, his intensity is unbeatable. I'll check out the series if I'm home, but I was disappointed in Trinity. I had a hard time getting past all the comic relief. But no matter, I am adding to my collection.
It wasn't a bad movie series, but I have my doubts about the TV series.
I think is not even going to make it past the firts week, a t.v show out of a movie , most times end up been really suky.thats just what I have seen happend on other shows.
the movie was alright, but a T.V. show...im not so sure, but to each thier own.
I cant beleave we are still talking about this..it been here forever.. but i think it will suck.. there is only 1 man who can play Blade cause he is blade.
it would be interesting
i cant see spike doing it..they gave up raw and lost money lots of it!
as far as i know i havent watched the network since they yanked raw
they have alot of crap...bs and more bs..
if they are going to do a blade series it would be a very interesting endenvour
they probably authorised it as a last dith effort..to have somehting good on spike
it would be interesting though..i mean when they left off..all vamps had died from that virus..all but our hlaf breed blade...
either they would have to bring back a vamp like drake..or pull a lycan thing
or use blades vamp strain as the new race of the undead
either way..alot of creativity will have to go into this...it should be interesting
Yeah Blade was a great movie. The two sequels not as good. The TV show will probably last 1/2 season. Take The Nighstalker for example. A lot of potential there but it is now canceled.

Great another spin off. Everytime you turn around they want to make a damned TV show about something. The should just leave it as it is. Everyone knows that they always mess things up when they try to move to a TV show. Geeeee.
The only thing they would need just to be totally fucked up from their heads would be to make a reality show out of it. It wont pass first season if there were to be a season.
Why in the world would they do a tv version of Blade? Thats horrible, they should just bring back Angel
this will be a very intresting show... i wish i had cable to watch it.
The only good part about Blade Trinity was Ryan Reynolds come backs and banter.
I think it will be interesting to see how they work things out, will wait and see before I remark fully.
Eternally,
Heart
It's not Blade without Wesley Snipes. End of story. It won't work.

Is Marvel Comics gonna have any say? After all, they own the copyright to Blade.
It will be interesting to see a comic book character made into a TV show though. I think I'll check it out.
I'll watch it when it comes out, but I don't have very high hopes for the TV show. The movies were pretty good so I know the show will not be as good as them.
i agree, i dont have too high of hopes for the show either..it was like MIB..when they made it into a cartoon..didnt last long either
Wow, I didn't think they were actualy going to do this...I'm glad that they are.
After the terrible letdown that was the last movie... can't say I'm too excited about a TV series..
will be a good show... i think sticky sould do it... also see it as being a show to be showen on SiFi
I think I'm just going to.....hide from that stuff until I hear its incredible from someone...
Veri cool - now all I gots ta do is steal me some cable!
cant wait!!!! now all i have to do is get cable so i can get spike tv...thanks for the info though
oh dear lord no! not another silly pretend vampire tv thing :s
Well i'd check it out
but personally any series made from movies are really quite bad
I think that's pretty awesome, i loved the Blade movies, wished that they would never end, but sadly they did with Blade Trinity
Hearing that they will make a TV show is awesome!
hotness, cant wait!
like anything else, I will wait and see it, and if it stands on it's own merits.....well
I mean, I HATED the idea of a Stargate series after the movie...but look where that went..... what 10 yrs now an running.
we'll just wait and see
I don't think this is gonna pull off being a vampire/vampire slayer like Wesly snipes did and it would be better if they had snipes be the director/main character of the show but because it's already set up I don't think it's gonna be worth any of my time being it seems stupid to watch a show that might as well suck on a monkeys ass and just go down the drain
I think if they made the series into a dramatic, adult-type animation (I'm not talking for the kiddies, folks) that a lot of the intensity, and comic book flavor, could be captured.
Then again, I really want to see what direction this could be taken in. Will there be character development?
In the vein of spin-offs, there's Angel (for vampires), as well as Xena (coming from Hercules) that had a lot more depth than what anyone really expected when it was first announced.
I do agree, however, that the casting can make or break a show/ movie/ etc.
