I've seen a lot of people on here with differing opinions on vampires. I wonder...
Do you believe in vampires in the undead sense or in the living (psychic and sanguinarian) sense?
I really donno in what to believe really, i already said once, that i am a bit skeptical about this subject... i guess it is what it is called "see to believe" you know. But this doesn't mean i will have a bad judgement of someone that states he/she is a vampire, i don't have the right to do that, when i ain't sure of what to believe.
I am unsure i believe that it is perfectly reasonable to think that it is possible for evolution to create a being of this nature but powers i am uncertain if a being drinks blood would it have a certain sixth sense to hunt prey ???possible but immortality not sure
I guess I believe in both. Though the undead kind is the belief like air.... You never see it but that doesn't mean it's not there.
To answer my own question, I believe that there are no undead vampires. I've written my beliefs numerous times already, so I'll keep it short. Vampirism is a condition of the subtle body that makes one need to take energy from others to survive. It is with you from birth, and it cannot be given to someone else. I'd like to hear other people's opinions.
My opinion would be that the glands neccesary to extract and process the energy would have to come from a line
of ancient's a true bloodline with the correct gene pool now whether a bite
would convert someone i beleive could happen as the enzimes emmited could in theory create the neccesary equipemt to process the energy .... now if that was possible could the created gland apply pressure to a certain area of the brain and enhance thier sixth sense in differant ways ................................
anyway to answer no chance of a undead got a bit side tracked
My beliefs in vampirism for me is living. The sanguinarian form, Psi form, and Empath form as well... I believe that it is a condition and not everyone is subjecated (if you spell that right) to the condition. Some I believe are born into it, And some are awakened into it.
The ones that rise out of their graves and feed on blood of the living. The real undead, not Hollywood crap.
Psy and Sang, personally.
All the others are good in fairytale senses to keep frightened villagers away, and pitchforks and such-- a more romantic vampire than an.. enlightenend one, I usppose.
well, can i pick both? cuz i find things wrong with both things and yet i believe in both a bit...
real is real and myth is myth which makes sanguine (but not the mythological ones) and psys real vampyres
To me I believe in a little of column A and column B.
There have been myths for centuries about the undead kind so it has to come from somewhere. And there is alot about the PSI.
So I tend to believe in both just because I haven't in my life just seen one or the other. Well i haven't seen a undead vampire ever.
I believe in both, but since I am a psy/sang, I am more inclined to believe that my kind of vampire exists over than the mythological one, but then again I have never traipsed in the Old World much (which I plan to do in this lifetime), so you never know.
I think I am a bit divided on this one.
I know the Living Vamps to be real, I don't doubt that one... But I am still unsure of the mythological kind.
But I do know most myths have their roots firmly in fiction, so I am still making up my mind (and researching)
I've met a pcychic vamp before and an astro vamp, but none in the flesh. But I believe in actual werewolves so why not real dead vamps.
I believe, being a vampire, that there are no "undead", but the undead thoughts from our ancestors and the myths throughout history. There are real, living, and BREATHING vampires out there, but they really don't go spreading that news...discretion is everything!
I believe in the living sense of it mostly. In the undead sense yes and no very fifty fifty about it need more research.~NFA
Well I met Michelle Ballenger and after that experince I tend to believe that at the very least psychic vampires exist if there are others I haven't felt them and they haven't made themselves known to me
If you count this as making myself known....lol...but yeah, psi-vamps do exist, and I bet I'd have a lovely discussion with you if we met in person. It's nice to meet you, sort of...we haven't met.
Short ,sweet and to the point.I believe in Vampires as in the living breathing kind, who have human bodies and an appetite for blood or energy/prana.
But, who are not immortal and who do prefer dark to sunlight, but can go out in it for most parts if they choose to.
Well put!! YAY, couldn't have said it better myself...which is soo true....
Vampyric666, if you don't mind me asking, I'd be interestd in knowing what vamps youre speaking of who rise out of their graves but are not part of the hollywood film scene.
Reason I ask is because all threads like his usually devolve into two camps, those who believe in all the hype and dont know anything and those who understand what vampirism is to varying degrees.... so when you post anout the real undead and not hollywood undead it kinda intrigues me to know what you mean......
in my opinion many different types of vampires are very real yes but lets leave hollywood out of it
I believe in the tooth fairy more than i believe in the UNdead rising again. On the other hand Sanguinarism is alive and well...scuse the pun
I'm pleased to see where this thread is going, and I'm glad it hasn't turned into an all-out argument, like I was afraid of.
"vampires" in my book are individuals who possess an incredible capacity to absorb, transform and drain off energy or life force (which is commonly thought of to be as blood but it is not always the case)
Most "vampires" are sensitive to bright lights, thus avoiding sunlight, and have quite good vision in darkness. Their bodies normally hit a low during the day while at night, their energy levels hit their peak. Often, because of their extremely fluctuating levels of "prana" they exhibit dramatic mood swings ranging from moody, dramatic and overwhelming...
Now about the "immortal" vampires, I guess that tidbit of information would remain a mystery since most of us somewhat covet immortality (most of us do not fear death yet we fear growing old) and presuming immortal beings did exist, do you think they'd let their presence be known? It would cause too much chaos to think that there are individuals who do possess such "powers."
iI believe the myths were once truths that got terribly distorted over time and storytelling. I believe in vampires, yes. But there are different kinds. Those who NEED the energy and lifeforce of others to keep them sustained, and those who LUST for the blood, like a drug. A bloodlust can be strong enough to drive one to insanity, like any addiction can. Just look at some serial killers.
i beleave the same thing as the one ahead of me (one up)
I believe that living vampires exist……I know many a psy and a few bloodletters…..but due to what we were taught of vampires as children it became twisted……we got lead to believe vampires are evil bloodsuckers which is totally not true of all modern day vampires......as for do the “dead “ kind exist well I see it this way just because you can not see it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist
the awakened ones who are psy were born with it the feeling of being watched seeing someone who you swore up and down you have seen them before even though you havent is with you always
psychic vampire only make themselves known to people who are also psychic but havent been awakened yet they are only looking for them and will not make themselves known to you just because you dont see them or they dont make themselves known they are more of the secreative type you probably walk by a coulpe or more on the street everyday
i think the 'living dead' thing is more Hollywood hype....i don't KNOW, but it's my guess...but i do believe in the 'living sanguine' sense...
i believe in both but i don't have any proof to back it up
every myth has a basis to truth in it..where else would the myth originated from?
its humans who like to streath the truth, to make it more then what it origionally was...
Well, some myths are created merely to explain an event that was at the time unexplainable. Some of them have no factual basis whatsoever.
The way I like to look at it is Vampires have somewhat normal lives. They do get old and do die just a mortal would. But after they do they become reincarnated and walk the earth For another generation. I believe I have had many past lives and I have been a vampire for a very, very long time. How long remains to be seen.
The last post made me smile concidering the title of the thread
definately beleive in psy and sangs not sure about the mythological kind but to quote shakespeare there are more things on heaven and earth than are dreamt of in your philosophy horatio
wolf
I think Avolon is real as are many things we think of as myth.
Many people can't or don't want to accept the fact that they can't explain everything through scienc. Even if they can see it. face it theres a lot that humans don't know and aren't ready for.
I believe in both. Just because you do not see does not mean it is not there.
Imho both.Though i think you'd be hard pressed after so many centuries to actually see an undead Vampire til it is upon you...feeding.(Survival necessitates that they find better, more stealthy ways of hunting prey i believe)
well it is quite hard for me not to believe in the very creature that i am. i would be a very large hypocrite if i didnt believe in what i am. i don't fight what i am. i am a vampire a creature of the night and i take pride in what i am.
i apologize fotr my post being so long but it is what i think a real vampire is.
A real vampyre has a particular condition which includes but is not limited to the following characteristics: a real need for blood or life energy; heightened sensitivities; light sensitivity; a largely nocturnal sleep cycle, increased (but not supernatural) healing abilities; and a possibly lengthened or slowed lifespan. Where the need for blood or life energy is concerned, this is not expressed as a strictly erotic urge and often is sated outside of sexual situations. The heightened sensitivities are believed by many to include a number of psychic abilities, such as empathy, astral projection, clairvoyance, and energy manipulation. The sensitivity to light and the nocturnal body cycle are not so limiting that a real vampyre cannot be up and out during the day; it is simply an effort for them to do so. They are in no danger of bursting into flames at the touch of sunlight, although many report that they burn very easily and tend to suffer sun stroke and heat stroke. The slowed aging process has in no way been incontrovertibly proven, although many vampyres may maintain a youthful twenty-something look well into their thirties. Real vampyres do not shapeshift into bats or other small furry animals. They cannot fly or rise from the dead (without perhaps the help of a defibrillator!), they do not possess phenomenally super-human strength or speed, and they are in no way physically Undead or Immortal.
i believe vampires arnt walkin dead corps that drink blood its not logical but i do believe that people think they are the walking dead (vampire) as for the whole burning in the sun theory its just caused by some 'vampires' with skin conditions were direct sun light hurts the skin
I believe that undead vampires can 'exist' in spirit form, as a projection..but only as such. HLV's are capable of both physical and psychic feeding(including etheric projections).

Both. Speaking from experience of course. I wouldn't respond otherwise. Most things considered 'myth' starts with a truth and usually the truth is more simple than the whole story passed through time. I believe that everybody contains a vampiric quality simply because we are all made up of energy. We can share it, and take it so i can see where this Psi definition comes from. Drinking blood doesn't make one a vampire but i know those that enjoy it from time to time. It's not like they "attack" every night. As for the undead....I think it would be hard to keep the same body for thousands of years unless there was some type of DNA difference that allows the body to remain more intact. I don't rule anything out. Most take a more human explanation but that's where one makes their mistake too.
I agree moreorless with this last post. The telephone game is more than likely responsible for the vampire we know today.
It's a good point, and one we should kind in mind if we want to understand the nature of vampirism, that all of us are 'connected' in this way somehow. I chalk this up to more of a relation to the predatory/parasitic impulse in all people..but I believe I have also seen this in a more spiritual sense. The need to take from other things..well, that's nature.
The energy is also transferrable, as pointed out. I consider the idea that empathy may also be a subtle form of this. I have to agree as well, as I'm sure most would, that simply drinking blood does not make one a vampire.
The idea of being able not to support a single body for thousands of years is also a good reference point here, further supporting the notion that this is an energy based phenomena.
Nice thread..lot of good ideas here.

Hmmm.
Well I would have to say I definately believe in the existance of the sanguine/psi living vampires. Being one and knowing many sort of makes it rather impossible not to believe in their existance lol.
As for the mythological? While I do not believe in the "living dead," re-animated corpses rising from the grave to drink the blood of the living, I do believe that given the number and frequency of appearances in myth and legend from all corners of the globe of vampiric type beings, that there was some factual basis for the myths. Not the dead rising from the grave, but some type of persons or beings who could or did take the blood or life energies of their victims either by desire or by need to survive. Much like the living vampires of today.
If i'm not mistaken, there's proof of corpses that came out of their graves....i could be mistaken but it seems i have read about that somewhere. It was like pretty common to happen in those times.
I believe in both , hell I beleive in fairies , so why not. LOL !!
I believe in vampires in the desiring point, in other words I do not believe in them at least not in this reality, rather on the view point that I have been showned their world and in a way it has facenated me.
I must say that from what I've read it's been generally agreed that the idea that corpses arose from their graves came from misinterpretation of the condition of corpses by peasants who while uneducated, also normally only had the light of a lamp to aid them. The only people I've heard of coming out of their graves are Haitian Zombies, and coma victims..neither of which are dead at any point, just misdiagnosed by lack of present medical officials.
It's true though that many, in the rush to rid themselves of corpses during the times of the great epidemics..many people were buried alive mistakenly. The fear that one would be buried alive grew so at some point that people actually started installing warning alarms attached to bells at the top of the graves.
Some corpses did go as far as to sit up, but any Mortician can tell you it's an effect of gases and muscle constrictions. So as far as I know, no corpses have risen.

mrd, thanks for clarifying. i believe that's exactly what was said about that too.
I defiantly dont believe in corpses leaving their graves at night to feed upon living beings.
I do believe that there are sang, emp, psi, and other vampires of that sort though.
I believe that a vampire wether it being sang psy of any other form is true I myself am a vampire what most call a hybrid I can obsorb energy and drink blood to get the desired effect but the undead thing no I do not believe in that I believe that the vampire is immortal in only 1 sence and that is the soul your soul will live forever bt the body always will die one way or another
It is a higher level of existance...Not undead, beyond human...It's a higher level of Knowledge of Ones Mind, Ones Reality, Ones Energy, and Ones Power...Yes there are some physical side affects that can transform Ones appearance...These vary...
well put brother Enigma.
could not have said it better.
the living sense an enigma did say it very well.... i do not really think of vamps as undead this is not hollwood
I believe in the Sanguine sense. As for mythological i think something happened way back in 19tickkity two something happened to spawn the legend
the airbrush technique is always an advantage when you have maggots coming out your mouth, but it is the fear and subconscous of the victim that makes it real..
I believe in vampires in the living (psychic and sanguinarian) sense. ALthough the mythological ones are fun to read about too!
I believe in psi/sang vampires, no one is immortal or "undead" however ust because they are not "undead" doesnt mean they are not vampires
i'm sure some one has read about the niphilim and the fallen angels mating with human women, this crossbreed could have created mythological vampires among other divine beings
I believe in the living vampires especially since I am one. The undead vampires I'm not so sure about. Some form of that may have exsisted at one time maybe not exactly like the myth. But if they do exsist I would say their numbers would be diminishing as it would be hard for even a mythic vampire to survive embalming.
I am sang and psy vampire and I belive that what you call yourself is what you are inside and I belive that no matter what you are you ARE alive impossible yo be dead so just deal your here and you are alive.(im not trying to sound mean just pointing out the truth) ^_^
hmm i believe in both... there are mythical being out there yet there are humans with i guess you could say a sixth sense....
I believe in both and I am still not keen on the whole feeding thing yet..
I'm glad and amazed that this thread is still alive. It's interesting to see all of the different opinions.
I belive that vampires are real but not like there un dead and stuff like that.
Sanguine and Psy how can a Myth be real..
There is to much evidence out there for Sanguine and Psy not to exist...After all Human Living Vampires or HLV's are now recognised scientificaly and medically
i belive there is no such thing as an undead vampire...vampires are alive and real and live just like humans...
I believe that everyone has their own beliefs and cannot be judged for them. I know that some in this realm believe that they are vampires and have a physiological response similar to vampires. But the walking dead, I'm unsure. I can't say i don't believe, as i have been proven wrong before with other mysterious things. I await to be shown.
Well, this subject is a very age old question and I do not think it will easily be decided. I believe in PSI vampires, and Sang vampires, as an energy deficiancy, and a sun sensativity, but I find it very hard to believe in a creature such as the undead that would turn to ash in light, and were inheritly evil (spawn of devil) So I guess to sum up, I believe in the realistic sides more then the mythological sides, thou the myths make for fun and exciting tales.
It is entirely possible for both to exist. Just because it doesn’t fit into what we believe it should look and act like, doesn’t mean the possibility of it’s existence is not real.
i believe vampyres in the living sence..only thing i believe that can come back from the dead are ghosts and zombies
I believe that they are real in the sense of the living. I find them to be more like humans than anything else. Vampires to me are like humans except a few things are different. That's how I look at things, just because they drink blood or anything like psi vamps ect. Just because they are gifted and are different does not make them immortal or undead they are just like humans with minor differences.
i think every mortal who dosent beleive in mythological beings should just drop dead like my mother should.
Currently i believe none of it - Im a sceptic by heart only waiting to get proved wrong
When I see a vampire, I believe they are living in a sense altho if you search deeper you will find that the belief is that you must go thru death in order to become a vampire. But if I like to think in a sense vampires are still alive because they are just like us, talk, walk, whateva...
i believe they are the undead sense. And i also believe that the myths are more real than some of the phonies out there today. OK.
Just out of curiosity, those of you who only believe in the undead vampires, how do you explain living psy/sang vampires? Do you simply dismiss the idea? You're entitled to your opinions, I'd just like some clarification.
>living psy/sang vampires?
as far as it stands i simply dismiss the idea of them because i have no clue what they are.
I have looked on the internet and they feed of qi. Incubus came up.
erm...
In the beliefs of the Church of Satan, an energy vampire is a spiritually or emotionally weak person who drains strength from other people. Such a person does not rely on supernatural powers, but rather the ability to exploit the victim's sense of pity.
There are people out there that believe they are these things, so let them be that if thats what they want. What goes around comes around.
Now this is a very interesting topic one which l believe is great for converstaion.
I believe in both but like most l believe that it is more a disease in the real sence like a certain mind frame for people.
Can't belive in the undead type. But know the others to exist.
i really dont know what to believe because i would love to believe in the undead but i guess i have to see to believe. i dont know much about the other type.
I believe in the living types but the undead are a little to hard to believe I mean if someone gave me some solid proof then i would be more than willing to change my mind.
I don't believe in the whole 'undead' vampire deal. However the psychic or sanguinarian type are definately in existance. They have a pulse, they eat true food and drink true drink, they just have a desire for another form of energy, whether blood or emotion...etc...
In a sense there could be "undead" vampires, if you think about reincarnation and all that fun stuff. As far as the psychic vampires, yes, I definitely believe they exist and that I *may* be one of them.
i would say that i have to agree with them both. because when you think about it we are all undead in a sence. we are reincarnations of people that have lived before us.
If i have to decide, then the living. I dont really believe in immortality, unless its just your soul or spirit.
Neither really...I think that either way they are just intersting to learn about.
I'll tell you something before I write this, it may shock you, I know, I'm shocked myself, but I don't know everything!!!
But, I am still learning, at that point I will give you my opinion,How we are born is out of our control, but it stays with us till death:-who we are inside, and who we are capable of being.
I then say that if one was born with the characteristics/ capabilities of a vampire, and therefore develop into one that lives like the 'myths', then I would suggest that they could be classified as a vampire.
However to be a vampire in undead form I still have to get my head around that, if it were possible, there would be too many questions as to how it would be possible.
So, I can believe that there are those who have powers, hungers- that relate to those, I don't like to use the word myth, but lets say they have the powers compariable to the legend of the vampire, and like a new born child, being named a 'vampire' is simply the final step.
I believe in the sang, but I also believe in the undead sort of thing. I think that somehow something happened in the past that brought forth into the future. I always ask myself, did the people from ages ago have that dark of a mind to think up such vampiric tales, or did something really happened that caused all of the legends to be passed down to the present day..
I am led to feel that they are more living than undead so to speak!
I belive with out doubt in Vampires as those who consume from another (wether blood, energy or what have you).
But I'm also not so cocky as to deny the possibility of somthing more ominous out there.
Yes I do believe in Psi vamps and Sang vamps, and even the rare combination of the two. I don't believe in the traditional fictional view but since I'm not close minded, I'll say anything is remotely possible.
I tend to think there could be some of both out in the world.
definitely in the living (Psychic and Sanguinarian) sense.
Real Vampires - Sure anything is possible, as there are many unexplained occurances in the world today. As far as psy-vampires, the type that drain energy from others, I have had first hand experience dealings with them. My energy level is very high as I have learned through meditation and practicing my psychic abilities that when you are not careful you can come across those who feel the need to drain your energy. We who call ourselves psychics if powerful enough we can protect ourselves against such an attack but in the beginning I learned my lesson all too well as I had nightmares about this person drawing my energy and I could not wake up. Once I learned how to prevent this drain on my energy, I met the person face to face in a doctors office and he recognized me from his dreams. This was an interesting event as we made each other feel very uncomfortable.
