I know it’s a broad topic with endless possibilities and answers but for each person it varies. Which means more to you life? With all of its mistakes and flaws that people make. Yet with life we’re able to make new friends and people whom we’ll carry with well into age. Or is it death in your case? Death is the inevitable. The thing that happens to everyone, for with death you’re released from the pains and sorrows of life and you’re able to spend time with those who were deceased.
Sorry if this seems a bit borderline of suicide, but I’ve been thinking about the two things constantly for about a week after a couple of deaths in my family. And now I wish to know how others feel about it.
death seems to be the quickest way to true peace and happiness, so embrace it with you life and just wait for that enevitable day.
Life means the most to me.
Yes, death has a certain seductiveness to it; the unknown, the mystery. Though life contains these things also, some just dont see things this way.
Am unsure cause there is not a guarantee that Death is better than life.
In most cases I reply Death cause I imagine it the end of pain but at the moment am undecided.
Life sucks plain and simple.. it has more disadvantages then advantages...
I love Death Its very piecefull but the only problem its you can only do it once... and you'll never know if thers that one hottie out there thats at your funral thinking to her self (I should have givin him a chance) or on the lines of that ....
I think the best way is to to be Undead not living and not dead
id have to say both are...in my faith..we cherish and enjoy the life we have yet prepare for the death that is to come...
Ha! Depends on my mood. Right now I'm not a total wreck and depressed, so I'll say life... just for the heck of it, and the lack of knowledge of the other side.
Everything is meaningless because of Death. I hate it. I know life has no more sense but to live....itself.... this very moment means your whole life...this very instant is all you get...all you know
We are eternally damned because we're mortals.... I wouldn't kill myself ever and I don't think death means any'release" from pain but our most dreadful curse.
Life at the moment is more important to me then death... I will live my life and then when it's my time to die so be it...but until then I will live life to it's fullest.
Death is the ultimate freedom we all long for during life. Thats the way i see it.
Theres an article submitted by Cancer that has some interesting ideas on this subject, well worth a read!
I believe the two are inseperable really but i would say death if i had to choose, i find comfort in the prospect of an end to the trials and pain of life, however who is to say death is any better!
Death is a deep sleep where there is no more pain and suffering, for the one who die, its rude to say but be happy for that person, since there is no more pain for him or her.
even though death is inevetible and is considered a release from pain life still should be more valued and cherished considering we dont have long to live in perspective of forever.
death! death embraces us and makes us free. life impowers us and takes us over to a painful side..a side that makes us want death
Right now, live life to the fullest. Death only comes once.
Life means most to me now. I have people around me whom I love and care for. At this present moment I would not wanna be taken away from them, nor the other way around.
To me both are equal, both are connected...It's too easy to attain death, life is harder. To me easy things are ususally not worth it, tho at times I pray for death, I don't truely know what it is, I don't know if my thoughts about it are right or even close (thats why many people fear it). I dont fear it, but I have so many plans for myself that I want to finish in life. Oh, I'm a little longwinded...sorry.
It is natural for us all to cling to whatever life we have even if it sucks...
I do not fear death ..being a nurse ive watched its process in its entirety many a time! My life being the rollar coaster it is Has had its moments but either way i could careless wether i have one more day or 50 years when its time its time! I do look forward to seeing those that have passed on before me.. and Life with its issues i have to think Death does sound quite inviting! We can move away from our problems and not have to face them ever again! But a Challenge always makes me want to strive on! I can make myself a better person! and if someone else has an issue with me i truely do not care if they do they have their own issues so i think ill stick with life! My time to pass on will come when it comes!
I don't fear death, it is a freedom. This is just a shell that we possess now, and what comes after I believe to be the ultimate. Make the most out of this life. But never fear death, embrace it. Accept it for that is the only thing we are guaranteed in life..hehe
I simply just live for today. I love being alive, so I embrace it and take it for all I can. I don't know what death is, so I won't worry about it until it takes me away. Until then, I'm going to enjoy my life.
Life is very complicated...death is so much simpler! But, I`ve seen death and I`d rather be alive in this complex world than dead.
"If you're fascinated by Death, make the most of it while you're alive. Because when you are truly dead..it won't interest you at all." - Anton LaVey
Generally, life sucks all together, and if someone asked this question to me a couple of years ago, I would have answered DEATH. Now, however, I've found someone worth suffering for, and life has such a more valueable meaning to me...
In my case, love conquors all.
At this point, life is important to me simply because I feel I haven't completed my task here on earth. And since I believe in reincarnation, I do not fear death when it is time for me to leave this plane again...
Even it was said before, I must say that I find very interesting the next quote: "Life is just a dream of death"...It makes you wonder...
i would have to say
"Death is but a dream, do you dream?
I do"
I have to say that it's hard to choose between them. Life, though flawed, is full of important lessons and adventures that the soul must go through in order to be better prepared for the trials to come. However...death itself if a time of beginning. And if you believe in such Death only signifies the beginning of your chance at your next lifetime. Death is the borderline between these phases so that the soul can be rested and replenished in order to be ready for the trials ahead in the next life. Either way you look at it...they're both beginnings and equally important.
death, to me, just seems to be a way to reflect on what happened in the life you just came out of. to see what you did or didn't do to help you make choices for the next life you lead.

Life means more to me- pain, flaws, disappointments and all. Death is going to happen, I am not dwelling on it, at least not in the waking hours- but that kind of change is scary. My dreams are usually always plagued with deaths. My death, the deaths of other people. I think the worst part of death is the separation from loved ones- rather its their leaving me, or me leaving them.
I just have to live, live, live- journal, journal, journal~ and that way I can remain behind for those who are left (the ones who care). In a movie, Sandra Bullock said something to the effect of 'Worrying about the next life is no way to live in this one.'- I believe that, with the next life and the transition getting there. Don't dwell- have a personality in this life. Be something.
death means more to me. it is the only way to find happiness and peace. death is so seductive
Death is what you wait for all your life its your destiny. So embrace and cherish the only thing that is really yours.
Yes death is something that you wait for all of your life. And when it comes you need to embraace it and except it. Everyone at some ppooint is going to have to die.
Death is a total end. I don't believe that we are reborn or come back so life means so much more.Even though it has it's faults, that's what makes it so fulifilling. Never knowing what will happen for sure tomorrow. Never nowing who you will meet or how you will affect their life. I think the possiblities in life are way more fasinating than death.
I choose life and will try to make the best of it . ... well said Imagesinwords... When it is time for death, I will step forward into that realm willingly, but for now, there is life and so much to explore ahead of me.
Death comes to all of us...it just depends on how and why...but life is a different thing all together...people are born in this world but not alot of people actually live!! Some people say that the lucky ones are taken before they live a life of pain and sorrow and those that aren't taken are punished through pain and torture, suffering and uncertainty....how we live and how we die isnt always upto us..as we know!
I would have to say death.Because life isn't a certanty, There is an ever growing chance that i might not wake up after sleep.Actually, I would have to say life, because death is a certainty, and life is not. Hard question.
Life is important, i dont care what anyone else says, life is the reason we are here, in order for us to live it, and if not for ourselves then just to help others and though death is always there at the end, even though we know that is waiting for us, life should still the most important thing.
Death seems to make everything meaningless and that there is no hope. But then on the other hand if you look at a new life, then you can see all the new possiblities that life has to offer.
I am sorry to hear about the deaths in your family, but that is about as sensitive as I am going to be, if you want honesty that is.
For as long as I can remember, I have always loved death, at funerals I try not to laugh, even when it's a family member, I, well, just can't help myself.
I remember being in primary school, I was about 8 or 9, my best friends sister had died from cancer, which is not funny, but just looking around at all those upset, crying, mourning people, I just had to chuckle. Same thing happened years later when when my best friend died, and same when my grandmother died.
Twisted fuck you might say, to that I might say.............your right, crucify me for my honesty and openess, from me you should expect nothing less.
Therefore I would have to say that I enjoy life more because it gives me the opportunity to experience death in all it's forms.
The pain and sorrow of others seems to brighten up my life, all I have to do is get a dose of death in my system and I'm flying again.
I choose both, I am greedy,
Life is one hell of a way to enjoy death!!!
well i hate my life i guess i got back luck...so i m not intersted what keeps me curious is how does death ...maybe death is what we really want know one knows i f death is the hapiness were are looking for!
Death seems easier cuz once you're gone..u no longer have to deal with the pain and sorrow that is life.
I think that we all should make the best with what we got and if die'n is all we have to worry about then we are getting off easy cause there are way worse things to be worring about then that...... when you die everything is pretty much done and over but being alive you should focas on things to better a bad situation........ But that is just my lowly oppinion.
i think life can suck sometimes ,but you do get odd moments of happiness, wot do you get in death?not a fat lot in my oppinon
its not a matter of upholding to a fascination, it is more a reality of fate. With each breath we take in our lifeforce is withdrawn..and closer to death we become. Dwelling on either aspect deems the person a narscicist.. with which they would have no life either way. I say dont dwell on the inevitabel.. obviously now we are alive at this very moment, and at some point later on "we will die"!
in many religion life is not inportand. Sins are the part of life and on the doom days people will suffer about it.
In my life "now" is the inportant. Life for now die in a day..
well to me death is sweet, death is a way out of this hell whole, but then again pain to me is my life so i guess i can say life... if what i have is a life... but everyone that actualy likes life should live it to the fullest and well for those who dont shouldnt try and speed up the dying process cause it's not their time unless it is done naturaly then w/e it cant be stopped, death will be more of a sweat release after a hard long life of torment and pain :)
I guess I cant answer that untill I experience both. I'll email you from the other side!:)
I choose life, we were made to live life, to have fun, to make mistakes, and learn from them. We were meant to fall in love, but I don't beleive we were meant to get broken hearts or cry. We were meant to laugh and smile....coming from me thats alot my life has been horrible, and had many tears, but now I think I'm in love and I have been for the past 5 months, and...well you get the picture...I choose life, and I also beleive in after life ((I am an athiest I'm not some religious crack head))
As a believer in reincarnation, I see them as one of the same whole. In dying, we are given life. Yet as soon as life begins, we start to die. How can you separate the two?
well life and death mean the same to me because i believe whatever i do in life will reflect what happens after death. will i be rencarnated or a lost soul? will i be able to start anew or end up in a forever hell? it makes you think and wonder but to thiunk of neither is messed up. yes death comes to all (in dif ways) be either you r immortal and r delt a killing blow or sucked dry, or be it you and mortal and die because of nature, we all die but what really happens after all of it
i like to think of it as balance. when one cycle ends, the other takes hold, and then it begins all over again, in a neverending circle.
Its true that when you die you get to spend time with those you loved that died but what about people you love that are still aliveWould you rather be with those that are dead or those that are alive?
death....... life is 2 hard 2 live so why live it it doesn't matter who u meet because they all screw u over anyways
I understand how you feel EmpresZoey, but one could also feel that even though death is a release from this place it is still the unknown.... Life is what we understand not death and as long as you have life regardless of how crappy it is you have the chance to right yourself...In closing I'll say that in my opinion death can wait it's turn...
I see it this way, your born knowing that some day your going to die. So, why not embrace each day like it where your last. I guess what I'm trying to say is that you shouldn't be afraid of death you should look forward to it. Does that sound right??
I dont fear death, it is a departure from this earthly body unto another plain..I believe in re-incarnation, so the thought of going somewhere else pleases me. I think when we have accomplished on this plain what we needed to do, our death takes us..Every life we lead teaches us different lessons..We choose the life we have..for many possible reasons.
death is a reality in life and there is no excaping it. There for i do not feel it but i do cherrish the time i have one earth
i care nothing for life only death and i would embrace it with open arms. i don't care what happens to me when i die just the sooner it comes the better. life sucks there is nothing good that comes from it.
Life and death to me, are very similar. They always say that you learn from the mistakes of the past. So when you die, would you perfect those mistakes and flaws? I don't know. Interesting thing to elaborate on, but I can't. : P But yeah, Life and death I guess could relate to how well you live life. Kind of like the hindu religion. If you live a good life, have good kharma, then you'll live a good afterlife and reincarnate to something good in your next life. If you live a crappy life though, your next life will be worse than what you lived before. All deals with how you live. So treat everyone with respect and kindness, and maybe something good will come out of death.
Life means more to me than death, probably because of the suffering and pain and death I've seen around me and experienced. The only thing that ever stopped me from taking my own life was the pain it would cause for others around me, and I didn't want to be a reason that people were hurt. Now, I don't even cut myself, because last time I did it destroyed my mum when she found out. So now, I just think about that when I feel really down and like there's no where to turn, and it stops me doing anything I'd regret. Life is way too precious to throw away.
Life is what you make of it, you can make your own heaven or hell right here, it all depends on your perception of everything. I'd rather live life to its fullest while I'm here, simple fact is, we're all going to live and we're all going to die, you can live good and die happy, or you can take the other road, and I think we all know we don't want that, unless you enjoy being poor and hungry, bored and insecure all the time, me I don't give a fuck for nothing, whats mine is mine, I earned it and feel good about it, I made my life a living hell once, would you like to die like that? Not me !!!
I think death does bring peace, not being able to hear to see to breath to talk to think absolute peace within the ground. not worrying about what your peers think not worrying about loved ones of standards of being accepted of letting people down not worrying about health wealth of dying Absolute nothingness absolute peace
i think the answer for the majority of people is - life. after all is said and done each of us still has the choice to make, will we live or will we die? most may enjoy/entertain the thought of death but they have yet to make the journey complete.
I have to lean to the side of life, I enjoy the things and people around me to much to want to surrender them to an unknown.
my thoughts on the subject of life and death is that ur born knowing that ur gonna die and there isnt anything u can do about it. there is some that choose to up their death date. even i have thought about it, hell ive tried to kill myself before but i was caught and stopped and grapped at for even thinking about killing myself. u suffer in life and in death u are relieved of that suffering. i dont know which is better life or death. i dont understand life but i do understand death. and there are times when i wish i were dead but then something good happens and my mind is changed. its a never ending cycle, life and death.
the only thing that matters is life. in death there is only loniness.
you cant touch any body
you cant talk to anybody because they cant hear you
the only thing you can do drift and follow the living.
mabey you might get lucky and find someone who can hear you on an elemetry level........but only if your lucky.
hang onto life as long as you can........you wont like being dead usess you can move on.
I think yours is an amazing question. I know on a daily basis at times, I wonder what the he ll am I doing here. I also know when I go this time, I sure don't want to come back. Somehow at the same time though I feel I must have agreed to come back to share something. This knowing bothers me though cause I get so tired at times. But it is this knowing, that I haven't finished yet, that helps me pull up my boots and keep going. But I still swear when I go this time, I'm not coming back and if I agree to it behind my own back....Im gonna kick my own arse for it....lol
Both are most important in my life. For without giving regards to one, the other is too, over looked.
I love my life, I have done much in it. Yes there are mistakes I wish I never did, but they lead me to this point in my life. Death has also been a factor in my life, I have seen death, seen it touch many loved ones, it hurts alot, yet in death comes the possibility of this, peace. Something we in the world never really feel or experience.
- Sin
Life matters more until you die than you have no chance of ever returning well you have some chance but that's not the subject. Life means more to me now because of my friends and family I think I would go on a mass murder if I didn't have them.
I know the feeling of suicide all to well I think everyone has a fascination with death at some point....sure Life has flaws and pains etc....Death? who's to say it could be the start of a new life, there might be a heaven, or we might just be dead end of story.... I miss my relatives that have died but so far only a couple that I was real close to more are still living so I choose life for their sake...not mine...
I think they are equally important to me...I love having friends...people I know I can all ways count on through thick or thin, but death would ease all my pain and suffering that my friends help me through.
I think life is the beginning and then death is what comes after fulflling everything you wanted to in life. if a soul hasnt fulfilled everything they re-incarnate as something else.
After Death, simply another life to be asked, what had you done in your life!
Thanks for that !
I only have a quote for this thread....
"Get busy livin', or get busy dyin'"
I beileve that death, for people like me, is simply a way out.
Before I had my son, death was it... now life is best for me.
Before I met Audrey, death was all I thought about. Death is the release from pains and sorrows, but it might not mean seeing the people who died before you. Death is indeed inevitable, but no one knows what happens when they die, so, yeah...
Exactly, no one knows what happens in death. We only see through the eyes of the living, looking at the death around us as it appears to be the end, peaceful. We wont know until we experience it for ourselves, then we cant really tell anyone. Eh, stick with what u know ;)
Enjoy this life you have and when you die, it's the shell of this body..the spirit, entity or whatever term one uses..goes on..
Also depends on what you believe on where that spirit goes.
I guess I'd rather die happy than continue living in hell
I personally think that suicide is just giving up, and that shows weakness. I think that by commiting suicide people show that they just couldn't handle life any more and they took the easy way out. But why be like that? Why show how easily you can be defeated? Isn't better to try and show life up, how no matter what it throws at you, you can fight it and stay on top at the end? Why just waste away all the time you are given on earth to be unhappy and try and end your life when you could be living out your dreams? I say enjoy life while it lasts and when it's time, it's time. Don't rush things, don't worry, you won't miss your turn. Also no one knows for sure what waits us after life. People have assumptions and beliefs, but no one can truly back it up and prove it. Once again, I say just enjoy it while it lasts and don't worry about dying for now. It is not that hard to fight back at life's surprises. We all do it every day. Some are harder to get through than others, but why give up without a fight?
you never know what awaits on the other side, it could be worse than the life you already have. catholics believe in purgatory where your trapped until your soul can find peace.i guess it all depends on what u believe and keep in mind the GRass is not always greener on the other side.
mmm life and death what topic but yet very interesting indeed, life is taken forgranted by the human race to an needless extream where they mourn for human life when it taken away from them how interesting indeed.
There are many faces of death there is the death caused by society and there is the death of life. A society death is the worse you die inside and conform to the world and you inner self dies. Death of life should be celebrated because it is natural as life should be celebrated man needs both to survive.
i am for life.
it is the perfect oppunity to share my knownledge to my daughter and let it become eternal.
Death for me is part of my job, so its a huge employer for me, like cancer or heart attacks
I used to be for death, I still think about it, but I am for Life. I generally enjoy being here and I think that I'm more mature enough now to be able to handle the punches better.
Through life can we only know peace at death. We carry our life experiences on with us so we may know what it is like to truely be at peace once again.
to trulely live life and love and enjoy it you have to embrace death cause it is going to happen no matter what you do...
i think my views for life and death are about the same, i mean i value life because it has its ups and down, to live i think is to love, and to love life is to live... As far as death goes, death as well has its ups and downs, yes it takes away the pain and the sorrow of this world, a death hurt more ppl than we would like to think.... i like both...
this is the way i think of it. change is scary, but it's better than everything always staying the same. if your dead, then for you nothing is going to change again. if your alive things might suck, but that can change at any moment. big difference as far as i'm concerned.
you only get one shot at life, make it count have fun with life.....when your time comes dont fear death, let it free you
you olny live life once so you might as well make it good . but some seen to make wrond turns and they get scared and take the easy way out suicide.. me i am one of those people that got scared , but i was more scared and didnt forfill the killing of myself.. i donno it is a good topic not boaring at all
My focus is LIFE. Death comes to all and everything. I don't need to be concerned about it, but LIFE. LIFE is to be lived, not survived. I will not be a hollow man, I will fill my life with new and exciting things. I have no wish to just exist, I would rather spend every waking moment relishing this thing called life, so when death comes for me I'll be ready. I'll be able to say " I LIVED"
Well.. most often I would answer death myself.. but there are those little pieces in life.. no matter how few and far between.. the little bright spots in life that can make it worth while to stick it out..
I don't see life as a start or death as an end.
Death could be an end to something but the start of something else. Maybe something worst than life. I don't know but I'm ready to live my life and die for death.
you would think death will make all the pain go away but you dont know unless youve died and what happens if its hell worse than life, and you cant turn back? the way i see it is there is fun living, your not sad or depressed all the time somthing is good. would you rather risk throwing the least bit of happiness away?
Well to me life is the most precious of gifts. I too have lost many people , friends, family what have ya.. But so has many on this site i`m sure...
But you must remember the body is just a shell In what ever your belief is life still goes on ...
Take everyday and treat it like it's your last. Enjoy the people you want, discard the crap. Life is certainly to short to waste it on people, things of non value.
It depends on my mood at the moment. Sometimes I think that I might be dead and in hell and just not know it. Other times life is sweet. Other than paying taxes, death is the only thing that is inevitable.
i think death is more of a thought then an escape for if you can find those true enough death and life blur and all that matters is them
Death is a release from this world to hopefully, one that is better...
Life is what we make of it. We can choose to make it positive or negative. We are in control.
Death to me is another beginning. We learn while on earth, and once we die, we hopefully move to a higher plane of existence.
Just my own thoughts...
Live everyday as if it maybe your last for who knows what tomorrow may bring.
Love everyday for you never know when that love you hold so dear may dry up.
Never take anything for granted, not even life, life is a gift, but is also a doorway to far more other realms than this one. Life prepares for our journey into the next life.
I am not afraid of death. I already know when I am going to die. It is just what I do from now till then that will make all the difference on those whom I love...
Death is much closer to me then life
It is something you know that it is there, but you can't see it, it is always around you
"Death is only the begining" The Mummy. It fits perfectly I believe as it is the beginning of a whole new pathway
Life seems to be only the maze that you have to go through to get the prize..
We're kinda like mice in a scientist's experiment. Trying to get to the cheese.
Only, the cheese we want is Death. The ulitmate prize.. No more sorrow/pain/perils..
And since we all live to die.. Apparently, there is something better in death, than what we are fed here..
Life means more to me only because I know it and not death.Im not sure there are any guarantees that death will be any better..we would all hope it is would we not..Despite the numerous "conversations" and experiences Ive had with "spirit" Im not anywhere near closer to really understanding what life after death is really like..and wont be until Im there.
Hope theres a place like Vampire Rave we can seek refuge in if the going gets tough there..:)hugs and love to you.
I recently lost my father in recent months, so I understand the need to dwell on the two polarities.... but I choose Life....
Life is the vibrant, rich, sustaining force of the world. It is in all things, whether the wind, the grass, the animals, or ourselves. Life is the truth of Gaia, and is her vision in all things. Death, while a natural cycle of antithesis to Life, is just that, natural. Much as a leaf falls from a tree uncaring, so all life must come full circle. To do otherwise would be unnatural.
If you all ever read my
Quote: Life causes pain and death sets us free.
But then again i believe in re-incarnation so different subject all together.
life is a gift that was given to us and can be taken away in a matter of seconds...if i had to choose weither to life or die I would choose life because life is worth living and yes there maybe some bumps in a persons life that there will always be bumps to learn from...Death isnt an answer to solve all problems it just makes it worse...I have learned that through many expierences...If you choose death then you'll be missing out on alot of things such as being a mother or a father, having kids and watching them grow up...Killing yourself may make you happy but what about all the other people who would have wanted you to live...You never really know who your true friends are until you decide to kill yourself and then find out just how many cared about you
Life means more to me. I try to do and accomplish as much as possible, that way when death comes, there are no regrets.
life can be grand, but do i cherish it more than death, yes ; ,if u have been reborn as many times as i have, then it does not matter,we all die,we live a great life for a bit, then are born anew,so yes i cherish life more, life is vibrant, seductive, evil, happiness, sad, hate, fear, jealousy,it is pleasant, death is a black nothingness, when u die u are dead untilyour soul finds it's way back to this ethereal existance
