Okay, so I was studying up on the vampiric culture, and I understand that a lot of us have chosen the Pagan/Magickal/Wiccan way. But what gods do we honor? I have no clue if this could be seen as controversial, so I guess we shall see!
Shadowgirl
Because we are Vampires, I dont see why there has to be a specific..god or Goddess..I am Wiccan and that and my belief has nothing to do w/being a Vampire. I do and am and continue to remain conscious of my feedings. I harm none..
I have not chosen a religon. Some say I am pagen because I have studied spell casting. I do not have a specific god or goddess I worship. I worship many.
Having certain beliefs (sorry if it is mispelled) doesn't mean honor certain gods.
I think its enough believing in something than to believe in someone that doesn't cover all the things in which we believe
The Pagan/Magickal/Wiccan way is NOT the vampiric religion....far from.
I agree with darkthrone, vampirism is a condition, not a cult, not a religion, we are all just human, we take whatever religion we want or we take none, like me. :)
could you tell us where you got the info about this church? and church in many cases is used not as the religious term as place of worship, more as a community based organization. :)
Lestat is right, example...www.churchofsatan.com. Not a church but an organisation, of which I belong to. Oh, and I've no religion either, I believe in mans cranla, costumed, ritualistic nature...indukgence not abstanance.
night god has a good point here, some vampires are spell casters but wouldn't this classify ( lets say) us spell casting vampires as " tremeres" i mean if you look at it we keep our selves inclosed not leting others know we do this sort of thing as well as not leting them know we are a vampire as well
Vampires are people like anyone else, therefore they need no specific religion.
Whatever religion you wish to practice and believe in,do it.
Religion is just a choice after all.
I know being a vampire is an organizational thing, but I thought yall had your own religion also. *don't ask*
Shadowgirl
i am of the most sacrid in any religion.
i am a warrior gifted to protect serve and destroy.
virtues my law ~ loyalty my master
~ knowledge my savior ~
I dont follow the any vampiric style or religion but I find the information i learn in these threads knowledgeable.
PheaR, what is it exactly that you serve? and destroy for that matter? and vampirism is in fact not an organization. it is a condition that people have and are usually outcasted for it or chose to be outcast because hollywood twists their minds so they think they need to be set apart and these outcasts see others like them and want someone to ehlp them and so they naturally come together, not an organization, a condition, not a religion, just a different step in evolution, not a gift that is given or recieved, just a thing certain people have. :)
Vampirism is a condition. However, any nutter can form a church and obtain mail order credentials. So I guess, it is possible to claim a Vampiric Religion. But, exactly who do they worship? Dracula? Lestat? Stoker? Vlad Tepes? Perhaps, a bag of A+ blood?
yes vampire religion is far from being wiccan and whatever..because that is simply witches(if i am correct)but vampirism is a condition as someone has said but is not a religion..it is a way of life.
But aren't vampires supposed to be godless are they not shunned by the holy order? Are they not an abomination of catholic and christian beliefs?
We are an abomination according to the Church. Close friend of mine would hate me if he knew the truth. Hes devout.
vampires are godless in movies and books. anne rice and bram stoker and hollywood makes them godless to make them evil and make them adored by many, not because they really are but because it brings in the money. nothing more, nothing less. the church? what churhc? your church maybe. no church I know ever banned vampirism as an official order...maybe I'm wrong but I've never heard of it.
The practice of vampyrism predates monotheism. It's obvious that they are not merely, or even partially, abominations of "god" or the "church" from that information alone.

as far as I'm aware of, vampirism wasn't anything religion-based. They're not historical people that we can study, it's more or less folklore.
The reason people associate vampires with wicca/paganism is because they both basically oppose christianity. I could go on and on but let's not dwell on that.
The idea I want to talk more about is how people still view wicca as something bad, evil, "the cool thing", etc. Most of the people who 'practice wicca' aren't even true to it, it's a fad that they fell into to feel special. I'm sure we can all agree on that as well. The majority of the world still holds wicca as something 'evil'. This will make people who want 'shock value' to flock to it.
I'm Wiccan, but I do NOT do it for the "fad" or attention, cuz that's not what kind of person I am. The people who do know are the ones who happened to look at what I was reading one day. The one person I told, is who is now my master. And I'm still confused about this whole thing, because I've gotten so many dif answers. But I am being enlightened. ^.^
Shadowgirl
your getting lots of differnt answers (even though your really not, most people have said its not a certain religion) because people get confused, dont know what their talking about, have different views on meanings and from different experiences, its point of view that seperates from the next person...:)
...or they could just worship me...
...whats up with "..."?....
...and the spaces...
...lol....
...i like that idea of worship me...
...we should make the vampiric relgion where people worship themselves...
it may sound ego statistical but i prefer the worship of self
we all got egos, might as well use em! i like me too lol
ok so help me to understand ... is what I am cultural or condition or religious? lol I've been this way my whole life and I don't recall ever thinking of it as a cultural prefrence or a religion.
you drift to places like this and live in a certain way that is liken to people like us, that makes us a culture, you were born with it, not a choice, a condition, do you worship it? pray to it? find saftey in written text from it? if so, its a religion(yeah i know, that REALLY basic lol and not completely true but still...)
My religious beliefs are Kemetic Orthodox and while alot of people equate some Egyptian symbolism with Vampires, I have never seen the connection.
I've never seen anything that has led me to believe that Vampirism has anything to do with religion and I actually keep the two well seperated.
i thought the poster was talking about real vamps, not the book/legend/myth/not real/ fake/hollywood vamp....oh well
if vampires had a religion...........they would be christian..........even those who worship Lucifer are christian.
and if you really want to get technical we are all jewish or muslim.
i am satanic in my religion, following signs and symbols, practicing in his ways but this is just a religion, not the path i chose in life, that to me is to be a vampire and keep my immortality pressed upon me forever
until very recently I always thought of my "condition" as a curse. By God or some other deity I'm not sure but it was never something I wanted or worshiped. I was never understood but feared and hated by my family. That can't be religion because you can choose a religion. I tried desperately to hide from everyone in society. So that can't be cultural because people are normally proud of thier culture. lol I think I'm nore confused now then when I started sorry~
personally i am wiccan, i'm very interested in vampirism though, i didn't think vampires had a certain religion, i thought it was just a condition but i'm all confused now!
Darling, you know I'm a Wiccan so thus being I worship the Goddess and the God. Indeed I practice Vampirism, but even so I am one with Wicca.

I had a nice long response and my school's computer decided to eat it...
Short answer for now:
Vampirism is seen more in the 'olde ways' as a superstition, such as witches were to good christians, etc.
Satanism (the un-educated version) is basic worship and devotion to a horned, fornicating, blood drinking beast.
Satanism (educated) is based solely the idea that in this life, one must indulge instead of leaving out the better things in life. No dead babies (as one satanist friend laughed), nor worshipping of the horned one-- its more of an internal worship, as it were. Treating yourself the way you feel you should be treated and taking care of yourself first.
Good basis for those just getting out of (bad relationships, methinks.)
A good reference with various paths which find their way into vampirism quite well is a book called "Embracing the Darkness". I feel bad, the writer's name escapes me again, and I've spoken with him in person.
actually i think there is a vampiric church online that i crossed that webpage once, not sure though
WOW!! We all have our own views but i see that vampires dont have a religion.People say i thought vampires cant even be holy...but they can. They are just myths people put in books to make it more interesting. I think im agnostic, but im wondering why people have other religions for vampires..like the black veil.or is that just a vampire lifestyle and this one site i went to recently has a vampire bibke and has all this stuff that vampires should do. I wonder if that is true..well what that vampire bible says.
We are our own gods. It's not so much a case of gods, but who we honour, like Buddha with Buddhists. It's a way of life. What's really important are our protection animals. This might be a witch thing, but if its not listen. You close you eyes and whatever animal you see is it, plus if you've ever seen an animal out of nowhere or in an unusual place. They come to you. The most important thing is that we see this as a religion. Not something in our closet to put behind our Witch beliefs. This is an honour, all vampires should know this.
vampires... the way we think is our own we do not have to have a religion it is not something that we are tought most of us here are this way because we were born that way. peaple place to much infasis on religion in my opinion vampires do not have a religion they belong to themselves, not able to be classified in such an old world sort of way.
Vampirism requires no religion bound only to the vampirism in itself, its rather the part that such as the pagan scene are more open-minded towards the kindred than most other religions.
Vampires are believed to exist in most religions, but not accepted by many as believers still.
Vampires are believed in most religions to be creatures of no soul, no soul gives a being with no hope, no hope, no faith, no faith, no religion so to speak.
With the pagans and their open-minded ness it is believed that every "living" creature has the right to think, thinking gives hope, hope,faith,religion...
you get my point.
I tihnk that is why most Vampires choose the more "occult" religions.
i always thought of us as what we are. such as a human being a human. i dont think its a beleife. its just what we are.
A vampire may follow any creed or religion they choose to, as they are individuals with the right to choose as any mundane (regular people, excluding Otherkin) can.
A vampire may also regard themselves as a god, because they may be aware of their own powers and strengths and use this knowledge to build themselves up into impressive beings in their minds (and around them, such as their surroundings).
Keeping in mind, regular humans do this all the time, be it the football player, actor/actress, "ladies men", etc. But, a vampire can say to themselves that they are different from others who worship themselves because they are a vampire, and the others mentioned are probably not.
Please know what I am about to express is only my own personal point of view. That I know there are those who disagree with me and I respect thier points of view as I hope they wil respect mine.
In the households which I belong to and run, we do not view vampirism as a religion but as a state we are born to. The households I am within have vamps that are everything from Christian to Satanist, Buddist to Wiccan and everything inbetween. We are taught to respect those differences and know that we are family regardless. I
The more I look into it all, the more it comes out as a religion of its own. I have always seen the aspects of the Community as a way of life, not a religion, yet, putting more aspect into it, one doesn't have to have a God to be considered a religion, for religion can represent a religious philosophy.
- Sin
in the TOV vampire temple...which is a vampiric religion they reference Tiamat...
I don't know but I always thought that was a 5 headed dragon from D & D....lol
to be honest, the people i know irl (in real life) all are christans in the sense that they believe in God. they don't tend to like him very much, but even this seems to be more because they're scared that he doesn't like them very much. that's only what i've experienced though.
tiamat was once an actual god that some people worshiped way back in the mideiva eral
to each there own . and when i say that i clearly mean that each and every worshiper is intitled to worship there own gods and view the gods there own way
to be a vampire is not a religion,it is a state of mind, body and soul,i believe in many gods and goddesses, where is it written that u can only believe in one religion, but just remember to be who you were born to be,follow ur instincts, follow your own path, not what other people think u should be,or what other people are!!
I don't really think that we should have to honor a god or goddess but I'm not entirely positive on the whole matter but there might be some out there that you may worship.
I agree that Vampires are diverse and there is no centeral religion. I identify most with Sekhmet or her more modern variation Ahandora. In addition, I also acknowledge that there are other Gods and Godesses, such as Belial and Osiris.
It would seem that Bellanger's Codex has become a religion of sorts. I'm interested in the motivation behind that. LaVey satanism has some strong survival principles and they do show a good side to selfishness (which I think is important in the right dosage). Wicca seems to have a strong pull to it but the original method of teaching Wicca was verbal and not written so it's difficult to separate the wheat from the chaf in that religion. I have no faith but I don't disapprove of it...I simply have never found it.
Yeah, there's totally a Vampiric Temple. I totally said totally. Like, wow. Like, totally freak me out. Fer sure.
Sorry.
Anyway, yes, as far as I can remember, the basic idea is that vampires are basically gods. One of the lines from the creed I remember going something like "I am Vampire, bow to me," or something close enough to it. I love that kind of narcissism.
Are we not Vampires.... supposedly souless. so do we indeed NEED to worship any God? I do not beleive so. Though i am a young one with little or no knowldge of the matter. That is my opinion.
well i'm pagon and i m guess going to say i beleave in all goddes's and gods , etc.
i am choosing religion, but i think that vampiric is a condition, not a religion or something like that
Pagans believe in what they want to believe in. There is no one diety that has to be worshiped. You can believe in a god or multiple gods. or no gods and just in what you want to believe in.
I guess it is more like a lifestyle, believe in what you do,
Wiccans/Pagans/Witches do not follow one specific God or Goddess. Some have those that they relate to on a regular basis but most will call on whichever one is appropriate at the time. Personally I don't have ones that I call regularly. They are just The Lord and The Lady to me. There are dark Gods and Goddesses that I suppose you could call upon in a Vampiric sort of tradition but none that I know of that are specific to Vampirism.
I think it really doesn't matter what religion you have. As long as you feel connected to vampireways.
uh, reading up on these posts have made me realise something...
i thought vampires worshipped no one, and seeked solitude, not to become part of an organisation... but then again thats all the stuff that was told, which doesnt mean its truth. :Q
Is it really a religion, I thought it was more of a lifestyle or just the way one is, not a religion. . .
Some people like to think of worshipping Caine or Lilth for going against God and becoming vampiric, although yes as you said it. It's debatable but to each their own of their own wishes and beliefs.
Never heard of Vampiric religion in my life. I am Pagan belief and dont say thats christian either :)
Dagda and Demeter. Dagda is the father of all gods and Demeter is the Goddess of the Harvest. Hand in hand I see them as a full circle of life and eternity
I am a satanic, but I don't worship Satan
It is not because I 'm a vampire that I've become satanic....
It is just a path ....
Could you elaborate on that please Poisoned, I don't wish to sound ignorant but I'm a little lost. Or is it that yopu are like one of these non-practicing jews or christians? I'm a tad slow this day
I do not believe that vampires worship or honor any god. This is a very interesting question.
Because to say you follow a certain religion and say you don't worship, do you mean you do not do services or you do not follow satan's path. Because if that is the case, then I don't think that is considered a satanist
My opinion is that everyone needs someone to pray to, since everyone likes the feeling that there's always someone there, to talk to and stuff. I'm writing a story on it. Some of it is posted in my journal.
Shadowgirl
rememberwhen- i believe that a number of 'satanists' out there don't believe in a physical 'satan' therefore worship would be pointless of a nonexistent diety. Instead they choose to worship themselves or their passions. All in all the principle isn't to bad in my mind...it has to do with finding what you want in life and making sure you work towards getting it. But you're right...the idea that it's called satanism can be a little misleading.
i think that vampires dont have a religion i believe tha they are they're own kind and in many different ways and shapes sizes
I never said worshiping a "Physical" Satan. People worship Christ and God with no actual Phycal being present. It's a matter of faith. And I'm not going to repeat what I meant as I thought I put the question in a very understandable form.
i believe you can take on a religion, but still have doubts and ideas that clash with some aspects of that religion.
There is no one religion I know of that Vampire must follow. He does what he must to survive and feed his/her lusts you are above the mortal kind..I do know one thing I retained what I call my soul..I think that is part of the process which we can both love beauty. We are capable of love after all, but like I said no religion I have heard of..This is one opinion out of many here in a very facinating discussion
Ok I am really gonna probably confuse you,Yet~~~ I keep reading where people say that Vampires are myths and folk lore~~ well how do you know? ~~~ I mean have you PROOF of that ~~ I have not ever met GOD or jesus or anything that people believe in so who is to say that they do not exist or that a TRUE vamp. doesn't have a following that worships whomever or whatever for that matter, I just feel that it is a way we choose to live and that is our previlege,to do so whether people believe or not it is YOUR CHOICE~~~~ just my opinon***
And here I was believing in "rememberwhen" only to find out he doesn't exist...anymore
