So, here's the latest versions of nonsense:

Not only are they nonsense, but they are being cut and pasted in as many threads as possible, sometimes more than once in a thread. The first one obviously says the threads haven't even been read and a post is already being made- WHY? And sometimes that comment is posted after the user has already made a post there. It can only be a post count thing- or a stupidity thing- either way, it is spamming the forum. It is annoying, and it makes for a useless scroll through.

I am trying to find these posts and the like and will be deleting them. The post count will go down- and anymore posts made after this announcement or the personal messages I have already sent to the members, will be forwarded on for further action. I do not care if it is your little brother or friend who got on your account and did all of this- if that is the case, then maybe you are not mature enough to have a Vampire Rave account anyway. Your password is supposed to be confidential.

This is belittling and disrespectful of the thought and effort put into serious relevant posts. ESPECIALLY here in this main forum.

This is a major pain, in any type of thread. If it's a fun thread it kills the momentum, in a discussion it takes away from those trying to communicate!

I agree. I havent been here that long; but I've been to other forums where such spamming is a problem and you are right. It is an annoyance.

Really I do think that it is very much annoying. They need to learn how to actually post on a forum and voice their own opinion instead of spamming everything. That's not the correct way to get post points.

Before the rumormill starts once again about me and a power trip- realize you can't and DON'T know everything. 9 times out of 10 these are actual member complaints. People want to enjoy this forum. And they bring these issues to Dominars and Admins to clean it out. I welcome it. I surely don't always see all the threads.

I've never really noticed. I bet its a pain in the ass though...

It's not harsh. I am only deleting their posts. The Admins will take it from there if they refuse to listen. If they ignore the warnings, then that shows they really don't care anyway.

i haven't been here long enough to really get annoyed with posts, but i have seen a lot that are about this problem... so i guess i'll cheer you on like everyone else. lol... i'm such a follower sometimes

Sometimes I read the thread and am impressed and I really can't of anything to reply to it, but I want to express that I found it a wonderful thread, and it was very informative. I think one has to do what one has to do, to stop the crap.

Right, people aren't reading threads at all- they are just opening threads and pasting one of these 'cookie cutter' (as Vulash calls them) posts just to either beat the system in getting a post count up, or piss people off. They'll notice slowly but surely their count going down as I am deleting them.

I don't think you're on a power tirp at all. those posts that weren't relevent to anything, yet were showing up in every thread, were getting to be a little more then just annoying. anyway, it's not much, I know, but I support you guys one hundered percent.

It may be a little harsh, but I honestly think that for stuff like this, it is definatly needed. In order for some people to get it through their heads, that ruining a post isnt okay, then this is definatly a plus. Though there are times, when i cant think of a good response, so i'll jus say thx for the post, or interesting info, or thx for posting, its really informative. but i do try to come up with a decent response for the most part

heh...sorry. I think you're absolutely right, and the deletion of such nonsense is more than justified. I think it would be good if that kind of thing were regularly enforced, and a bannable offense. You know... if you spot someone doing it repeatedly, warn them. Thereafter they are banned if they defy the rule. We should look at this the same as people using software to boost their pageviews. They are not only manipulating the system for their own petty purposes, but they're wasting space in the forum that could be utilized by a member with something substantial to say.

It may seem harsh but for those who are here and don't listen to rules or are just extremely dense in the skull (no offense to anyone and if this does offend I am utterly sorry) that need that sort of harshness to get the point through there thick skull! This is a great thing that is happening!

Yea the one that really got me was not only a copy/paste on several threads, but was a long one. And someone else had written it heh. Doesn't get any worse then that.

Simply deleting posts isn't harsh at all. Just a way to keep the thread 'clean'. It'll only get harsh if they continue to do it- and it won't be done by me, because I don't have that kind of authority. I don't have any authority here- just a few capabilities, and a good team-working relationship with Administrators.

Harsh? pffffft ....not harsh, just something necessary and sorry that it has to be done in the first place....and we appreciate the work to clean up and keep the forums an intriguing and interesting place!

i think what you're doing is a good thing. it shows that you are taking the responsbility of your position seriously and thank you for that.

I agree with this 100%. I am so tired of having to scroll through threads to find something half way intelligent in them. I know I don't reply to post that often. Simply because of the fact that I don't think in my opinion my response is considerate enough. But, I do read most of the posts.

I haven't seen this myself but must admit that I would find it to be extremely annoying to find such a random unnecessary post(s) in an otherwise intelligent ongoing thread. ImagesInWords you are doing a good thing. I don't find it harsh in the least. I applaud you for keeping the forum an enjoyable place to visit by taking the time and effort to weed out the ignorant.

A strong support system is always a good thing. This forum belongs to all of us. Some of us care more about it than others.

There are places in the forum where silliness is more accepted (but not this kind)- but up here (Threads about Vampires, Vampire Rave, or interesting parallel subjects) No, no, no. For some people- this is the only forum section they participate in. And for the outside looking in (non-VR members just looking to see what we are about here), what a poor reflection of our online community.

Thanks to all the members that care enough. That definitely includes those who bring such things to my attention trusting they will remain anonymous =)

I agree. There are some things that are very interesting in the forums and are being abused by the nonsense posts like that. I am glad I have a scroll wheel on my mouse - makes it quicker to get through them! Thank you Images...

I must admit, I had a hard time understanding the random meowing. I am glad to see someone taking a strong action to improve the quality of the general forum; so many here have good things to say...someone mentioned weeding, yes that's exactly how I see it...and harsh? whatever; if people don't take this seriously this time, I think a public reprimand from an Admin. might help people understand "harsh". To all this applies too...grow up. Good job, Images, you work hard here and I appreciate it.

the ony reason ppl do this is to waste others time in reading their nonsense and also because they are trying to level up, i think the forum monitors should delete th posts and take away the post point for all who do this.

I am glad you're doing this Images. The amount of useless posts, threads, etc.. is incredible. I've been on this site for over a year and see how very few forum threads I've posted to? My count is so low, it's as though I were a new member. This is because I don't post randomly, nor to just up my post stats. And very rarely is there anything worth posting to these days. Or if there is, it's so jacked up with all of the 'lol, i'll go look, i've rated you' etc.. or someone else in a more meaningful thread has already posted thoughts that concur with my own so therefore, there is no point other than to say 'I agree.' which is, in my opinion, pointless yet again.

Good luck with this cleaning process. I am sure it isn't easy and a lot of work will have to be done considering how many posts are like this.

This posting imagesandwords is one of the things that might be moved into the VR manual or might get a point of registration agreement not to do those things.

Most people who post such things never bother to read The Manual- and that would be their own fault. If you want to be a part of this community, you should get to know it.

I just noticed a bunch of...debatable (in terms of grey matter content) threads and attitude that displeased me, exactly because it shows no respect what so ever for the simple rules of this site.

i have not been a member all that long . but have observed such as the post you refer to and totally think that they are meaningless. and shouldnt even post at all . i read the faq on such post and things and think they are only trying to gain levels and feel it is sad considering there is so much more this sight has to offer if they would only truely read the post and understand what that person is actually saying they would gain so much knowledge . thankyou images for trying to get your words out there......

Us Admins have been trying to get rid of spamming and nonsensical threads/posts for such a long time it is ridiculous. People do not understand the concept of moderation, then they over do things and wonder why they get penalized or warned.

I dissagree sometimes one word is enough. I think flamers and people who intend to harrass the forum should be penalized. I think its up to the forum masters to decide who is doing such and give them a talking to. If it doesnt work maybe a blinding from the forum would. I doubt that will be possible. So deletion works for me if its suitable. Off with their posts! Cries the queen hehehe get rid of those suckers.

As I don't leave messages of that sort, I'm really not worried about it. My count hasn't gone down at all.... :-)

I have waited a bit to actually post on this thread. I just kind of browsed forums and a few threads.

But, first let me get to my opinion. :)

I think this is a good idea. It will cut down on a lot of nonsense that happens to be running rampid through VR lately.
I think this should be done with double postings in the mascara threads that say:
"I will go check it out"

and then a post or two down:

" I just got back and your profile looks great"

This is really uncalled for and nonsense posting. Look at the profile/portfolio then commment. It cuts down on the lack of useless postings. It is quite obvious it is being done to up the posting score.

This would be an excellent thing to do as it would cut down on many posts that are just usless and clutter.

BUT......

It will not last long with people in general. As I have said earlier I browsed throught the forum and some psts. LOW and BEHOLD! People who have posted on this forum and doing the EXACT same thing this thread is talking about. They are posting just to post. Except they are using longer sentences and changing them around so it doesn't look like the generic posts of:

" That's INTERESTING! I can't wait to see more!"

I have a feeling that if a stronger punishment is inforced for usless postings, VR will have a rather long suspended list. Which isn't such a bad thing in the end. It will teach people the benefits of following the rules and reading the FAQ.

And while they have to read the FAQ, it will also cut down on stupid questions for Question Crew.. hehe

It is hard to beleive that some members do not care about the content of this site. Please take a moment and read the forums...contribute or enjoy but dont sully the poster's attempt by putting something nonsensical to achieve status.

I agree with Mistress D...those kinds of posts never bothered me to read them, because it's something you have to expect from people, and people will either get better or they won't.
This seems to me to be a kind of witch-hunt; 'use your brain or be erased'. Harsh, funny, and in the end, really only gives us an illusion; that of looking around and saying 'hey, everyone here seems pretty intelligent and caring!'.

And it wouldn't be the truth.

It isn't about everyone being intelligent and caring, it's about people actually partaking of a discussion instead of simply copy/pasting one response to every active thread to raise a post count. Which is happening. So yes, the forums would be more fun for everyone actually using them for their purpose if much of that was eliminated. Also saying it happens anyway is a defeatest route - so does ranting, flaming, and other annoying internet habits, but less on some forums then others thanks to moderation. So while they'll never get rid of all of it - they will cut back on much of it and make it more enjoyable for most of us.

I agree with whats being said.Thats why I don't post a lot,because what I was going to say has been said,so many times and its just rhetorical,so I just don't say anything,but I believe sometimes one liners are appropriate.

These one-liners have been explained in a manner that they are obviously quite different than what would be appropriate. I think it is clear that many who are responding to this are not really reading this whole thing, or even the whole first inital post I made.

I am glad to see something being done about nonsense posts. It is annoying as can be to be reading an intelligent, thought-provoking post and the responses to it, then run across a bunch of stupid stuff. Ignorance I can deal with -- it is simply a lack of knowledge and improves as knowledge is gained. Stupidity, on the other hand, annoys me greatly. It is a deliberate refusal to learn, and thus it keeps repeating itself.

Go get 'em, Images! If I can read the FAQ and the Manual, so can they.

By the way, both are written in plain and simple English and are very easy to comprehend. All one has to do is just read what's written on the page. Just read the "black part", as someone once said about understanding a printed book.

I meow at people irl but its just a tool to get people to remember my name kat. when many people call me pat so i meow and they laugh and remember me. I think the random posts are going to be a reoccuring problem simply to gain levels in VR. i honestly debated about doing it myself but didn't think it would be appreciated and boom this thread pops up and proves my gut was right.

Well I have always been disapointed in this. It is sad to see people cheating and spaming the threads so they can gain a level. If you are going to post at least post something worth reading! It not only wastes time for those who want to post but it wastes the administrators and dominars time with having to deal with deleting your stuff!

I feel that threads are there for a reason. To educate the people and to try to help others about topics they don't now about. The ocassional I don't know...or I agree...or meow etc...is so not necessary. I think only thought out commments should be made. There are alot of adults on here trying to learn about different things and I think the stupid remarks such as ack or purrssss taks teh refletions from that. But that is just my opinion

and sorry about all my spelling. I am on meds but I truly assure you I can spell sooo good and make good sentence structurs lol

Vulash - your dead on man. It's the continuity of debate or conversation. I've seen posts that ask a question that is actually answered in the post above theirs. If they'd bothered to read through or even 'scan' the thread, they may actually be able to contribute...instead, the thread takes on a random and nonlinear form of posts like cards tacked to a corkboard...nothing acknowledging or relating to previous posts.

A brief mention of something in the main post and that's it...5 - 10 of those can really kill the path of a thread as it just pushes intelligent content further in between nonsense that must be vetted.

Images - The best thing you mentioned was that the post count will go down if their removed. I wasn't aware of that and I'm glad to see that the effect on levels or post counts isn't some permanent thing that can't be reversed. Perhaps if that is more highlighted among the boards, people will realize that their status could shift dramatically lower if they get caught in that type of 'spamming'.

Trust we are starting a grassroots movement to shut that crap down. It's not only about stopping flaming and making sure threads are in appropriate sections- this kind of thing nearly bothers me more. Find me online if you see such nonsense.

I do not think Heidi is on a power trip. I cam relate to what she is talking about. Sometimes a topic even goes completely off the topic at hand. I am here to learn and the last thing I wana read in a knowledge column is someone going MEOQ etc,,,,

I also want to add- nonsense posts can also come in the shape of a novel-sized post. Going way off into left-field can be even more irritating.

it is a great idea, and it really needed to be done.
otherwise the forum's get full of annoying posts making them very long, but when a forum post is long WITHOUT these annoying little posts it is alot more enjoyable to read.
