Does anyone live near any well-known haunted locations? Have you experienced anything there yourself?

I live near Plas Teg, known as one of the most haunted houses in Wales. I've never picked anything up in the house itself, but the road in front of it, known as the corpse road, is teeming with activity day and night.

I live near the Chickamauga Battlefield in Ga. There are tons of haunted places around here but that may be the one most known. You can indeed tell there are spirits about. It is a very cool place to go at night but easy to get lost in. Its a huge park.

I found this:

'Mentone - Desoto Falls - Story goes that a lady named Nancy Dollar lived near the falls in a little old house that can still be found today. After her death thieves broke into her home, killed her faithful dog and stole all of her money, which she had been saving to buy her own tombstone. Mrs. Dollar was buried without any kind of marker, and shortly thereafter the apparition of an old lady was seen walking near the falls. So many sightings were reported that a collection was taken up to pay for her tombstone. After the marker was erected the sightings decreased, but its said that you can still see a phantom black dog running around her cabin.'

on this site

I don't know if its the same place though...

I live in the Maine and the particular area in which I live is notorious for having hauntings and apparitions. I have only experienced a few events when I first moved into the house. I saw red eyes staring back at me from the window of the outbuilding and upon investigation had a sickle fly at me from the other side of the room. I don't really go into the outbuilding after dark anymore.

As far as the rest of the area there are certain stories that I have heard; however, I don't believe them until I am witness to them.

Hm. I live 3 minutes from Lambertville High School (it has long since been evacuated and has been condemmed over 50 years now) which is supposedly haunted by a boy who had his head snapped in a football game. Eerie place, but I don't think its haunted at all because they dont have a football field on the school grounds.

This might sound strange, but we have a cat spirit in our basement. All 4 of my children have witnessed it at some time. A cat was hit by a car, and looked identical to my familiar, Bart. Bart was the perfect black cat. Bart has died, and I miss him so much. He was my little black coumudgin! We actually had language. Well, I brought the cat home, and had to put him in the freezer, as it was summer. The freezer is in the basement. We found out it wasn't Bart, but this poor kitty in the freezer had no closure. He is still in my basement spiritually.

this town isnt famous. not at all. but in the 1900's there were 3 salt mines. one caved in just before quiting time. all the men were lost. they closed the other two just after and reopened the mines near the lake. some say the souls walk to streets. Ive seen them, it enough to raise the hair on the back of my neck. i saw three of them walk down my street this past summer and then i blinked and they were gone. half way down the street they dissappeared. and we used to have this young woman in our house, who would sing at night, noone else would hear her, but me, the first time i heared her, i though my parents radio had turnt on, like the alarm was set wrong, but i checked theyre room and it wasnt there, but the tiny room at the very end of the hall had a light turnt on, and when i asked who was there it stopped, and when I went back to my room she started to sing agian.

We live close to a Old Mens Home and it is shut down now... But it was mainly a assisted living facility for old men that were in the war and such... At night you can see movement in the windows and looks like someone is standing looking out the doors and you can see things like walking around in the yard kinda like pacing.

we have the Orego Vortex here ... i have been there manytimes.....The Oregon Vortex is a spherical area measuring about 3/4 of an acre, and is located in southern Oregon. Tests have suggested that the vortex itself contracts and expands many times daily by as much as 19 inches. A vortex is essentially a spherical force field, much like a tornado, that is partially underground and partially above ground. It can be magnetic, electrical, or both. The effects of the vortex cause altered perception that can be visual, physical, or spiritual. Theories abound as to what causes these effects, but science has really not offered a convincing answer so far.

The Oregon site is relatively minor compared to other vortex sites, such as the Great Pyramid or Sedona, but that doesn't make it any less fascinating. The Indians knew about this area and considered it "forbidden" ground". Unlike Sedona, where they went for spiritual guidance, the Indians feared and avoided the Oregon Vortex, suggesting that the mechanics at work here are somehow different than at Sedona.

There is a noticeable lack of wildlife in the area of the vortex, and many report that pet dogs will not enter the area. The trees are twisted strangely here, and the woods are eerily silent. The little run-down shack with all the neat anti-gravitational stuff in it is advertised as being the center of the vortex, but the center actually appears to be right behind the shack.

Nobody really knows what causes the phenomena at the Oregon Vortex, or any other vortex for that matter. Science describes these places as "geophysical abnormalities" and explanations offered include theories that the vortex alters light, thereby altering our perceptions, or that gravity is affected, causing changes in mass or molecular structure as one moves toward or away from magnetic north.Vortexes are also known for being magnets for supernatural activity of all types, and the Oregon Vortex is no exception to this rule, with many reported feelings of uneasiness and disorientation by visitors here.

There is a college here and I was night security guard for about a year. There is an old women's dormatory that is all boarded up now. At night I could hear sounds like someone was clanging on the pipes, etc. When I drove over to it, it would stop. Then when I would sit at a distance, I could hear it again. It was coming from the basement. The story goes that when it was open, a girl jumped out the second story and died. There have been 'ghost hunters' come and tour it, and they picked up on a lot of reading in there. This is in Enid, OK.

Grew up in San Diego, home of several haunted places that have been on TV and in books.

The Whaley House in Old Town - my second paranormal experience was there when I was around 10

The Hotel Del Coronado and The Horton Grand Hotel are excellent examples.. and myself and others have experienced activity in all of them on many different occasions.

Here are a couple that are close to me.

Westchester - Buckhout Road - On the border of White Plains, NY and possibly New Castle, NY, there is a road tucked away in the woods. Buckhout road evidently dates way back to the early days of the country, 1600's. the local magistrate or some such, (an influential person in the area nonetheless) by the name of Isaac Buckhout suspected that his wife was cheating on him with a friend of his. He invited the friend and his son over to dinner one night where he proceeded to take a shotgun and kill the two of them as well as his wife. Afterward he walked a good 12-15 miles to Tarrytown and sat in a pub until the police picked him up a few hours later. The jury that tried him deliberated for days over his sentence but as the story goes he was the last man hung in White Plains, NY. Now apparently off the main road there are several side roads wherein if you walk into the woods you will see houses that have been abandoned. Further legend has it that back in the 1600's three women were burned at the stake supposedly for witchcraft where the road now lies. There have been reports of their spirits supposedly roaming the area around the road and rumors tell a story of three X's being painted on the road to mark the spot where the woman died. As legend goes, if you drive over these X's and stop, your car will stall and "strange things will happen." Exactly what is not known. Additionally there is also an old Zionist cemetery in the area which is supposedly comprised mostly of slaves who died during the 1600's.
Manhattan - Chelsea Hotel - The hallways are haunted and it feels like someone is either watching or behind you. This hotel has a bad reputation in the past for drug dealers, addicts, pimps / prostitutes who were murdered or hurt. You can feel the pain and sadness.

Manhattan - New York University - Brittany Residence Hall - Corner of East 10th and Broadway, Phantom music and lights, people hearing unknown footsteps in the rooms and feeling presences "watching" them. Reports of the basement being rather labyrinth like.

Manhattan - World Trade Center - Ground Zero Site - people reported seeing The victims spirits - workers and rescuers - & apparitions of the buildings still standing. Several Ghosts have been reported to be crying for help after 9/11.

Lucan Ontario
The 'Black' Donnelly's Homestead

Stratford Ontario
In 1876, the headless body of middle aged Henry Derry was found floating in a casket in the Avon river. This was not a murder but a good old fashioned "body snatching".

A fairly well-known fact is that in the good ol' days, bodies were not readily available to anatomists for dissection in medical schools and bodies were often dug up soon after burial (illegally of course,) for students. This was the case as a local student admitted the crime and had removed the head for further study.

Thereafter, the River Avon is said to be haunted by the ghost of Henry Derry, his headless torso in search of his lost body part.

I live by a haunted site. People refer to it as Lick Road. A woman with child was by the soon to be father and thrown over a bridge that is hidden in the woods, but can be acessed by that road. It is said that she haunts the stream under the bridge. I went there with a paranomal investigation team and I experienced cold spots, we caught orbs in multiple pictures, the tape recorder caught voices, etc. It was a real frightening experience.

Near Foreman Arkansas, there was a nun years ago who was raped and tied to a tree and murdered. They say on that particular night (Guess when-Halloween!!!) that the tree bleeds. I have never seen that, but this I do know is true. You can park your car on the very low grade hill right by the tree and put it in neutral and your car will roll UPHILL. There have been scientists out there to figure out why and the best they can come up with is some sort of magnetic pull from the earth.

The old New Mexico State Prison is nearby... it's actually nearer to Santa Fe than where I am. But in the late 70's a major prison riot ensued. There is a book about the things that they did to people. Many people were tortured cruelly, boiled alive, and torn apart, impaled on broomsticks, you name it... There are only a handful of prison guards who survived by hiding in the ceiling for the several days (9?) of the prison riots before the feds arrived.

Every year, they host an NM Ghost Hunter tour for Halloween to check out the old state prison. It is rumored to be *very* haunted. I get too freaked out to actually go every year. Maybe I'll go one year to just convince myself of the phenomenon of ghosts.

Ever since I was a small child my grandmother used to tell us there was a Spirit that was with us everywhere we went... And that if we saw a ball of white light floating around something good was gonna happen.... And if we saw the black shadow something bad would happen...When I was about 15 I had just got home and went to bed... the whole house was locked and I had the radio on laying on the bed with my eyes closed...I felt something touch my leg and looked up and a man with a german shephard was standing at the end of my bed and he told me to be quite.... I could not see his face... just the dog and a shadow and the mans shoes.. I screamed loudly and my mom searched the whole house... all doors and windows were locked... how wierd is that.

I used to work at an inner city outreach center where i used to live in sallisaw... In the back of the building was a sanctuary and a big kitchen area... then there were the men dorms and the woman and children... In the front of the building was the resident managers apartment( i stayed there) we housed transients and abused woman and children.... the back hall between the sanctuary and the womans hall was always cold and you could hear someone walking the hall at night loud stomps.... so we had the preacher come in and do a blessing on the building... Their was a storage room on that hall and it was always eery feeling right by that.... My daughter saw a man with blood on his hands... and he ask her if she wanted to play... 2 weeks later we found out that a man had been hitchhiking with his small daughter and the man that picked them up killed them and buried their bodies under the floor of that building we were in....FBI tore up the floor and found the bones... ANd after that it was calm again...I guess they were trying to let someone know.

we also have the tunnels in portland oregon wich is anouther tourist attraction sight andhave said many hontings go on down there.this one is closer to us then the vortex.

The "Portland Underground" tunnels, more popularly known as the "Shanghai Tunnels", were basements of buildings that connected to other buildings through brick and stone archways that were intersected with tunnels that connected under the streets, linking block to block. These "catacombs" or "tombs", as they were sometimes called, created a unique network of passages and thoroughfares that were used by unscrupulous individuals called "shanghaiiers" or "crimps", in addition to "white slavers" who grabbed women and sold them into prostitution.

the tour is by appointment only now and cost $12 for adults. Children under 12 are $7 . but it is well worth the money and the tour last about an hour an a half. The three main tours currently offered are the "Shanghai Tunnels Heritage Tour", the "Shanghai Tunnels Ghost Tours", and the "Shanghai Tunnel Ethnic History Tour". i have seen all three and they are very fasinating....These are educational tours of the infamous "Portland Underground" that focuses on the shanghai trade in the City of Portland that survived from 1850-1941, as well as "white slavery", prohibition, and even the turn-of-the-century history of the Industrial Workers of the World (I.W.W.) labor movement in the Northwest. In addition, the early history of the Chinese is covered, along with the Japanese and the Gypsies. These tours are operated by the Cascade Geographic Society (CGS) and provide a unique glimpse back into the hidden (or buried) past of the "City of Roses".

I once knew of an old industrial cement building in Dallas, couldn't tell you where anymore, but I used to take my friends there. Still had old chains and tools, you could easily stay amused. If you went all the way to the top.. and looked over a cement wall, you could see all the way down to the first floor. I remember there were footprints on the ledge, and I recently heard someone's mother fell from it. On the first floor, she laid there, with her neck caught in a lever.. decapitating her.. and her head laid 3 feet away.

Ever since, her spirit pushes people off the ledge.

I asked someone if it was still there, and they said yes.

Wish I could tell you where, but its been 10 years since I've even lived there.

I know that aside from my previous posting that there are many stories of haunting in the New England area. The lighthouse on the base that I work at was actually documented on the discovery channel as one of the most haunted sites in the New England area. However, I can tell you for fact that this is not an actual haunted site. I have been working on this base for over a year and was exposed to the stories and assisted in creating a few which give them credence. We put 2 way radios in locked closets to make noises at random. Then we would go in the Lighthouse and turn around statues in the house on occassion. This just helps to egg the rumors on. This is why I usually don't believe something until I can see the unexplained for myself.

is anyone familiar with EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena)? Basically its where researchers use recording devices and then studying it afterwards are able to hear voices and noises.

I was reading about the technic while trying to remember more about the old Willard Library Haunting. It is interesting how hauntings and spirits can linger and not be physically known other than through enhanced recordings... what do you guys think?

There is one restaurant that I live near, it's said to be very haunted. My friend had an experience there when her brother worked there, and she refuses to apply there now. A previous owner is said to walk around and cause trouble in the basement area. Also the local fire department has some reports of "bodies" being seen in the hall. However, I've never seen any of these "bodies"....but I'm open to the possibility of it being haunted.

I did go to a cafe that was supposedly haunted but i didnt sense anything. An old man died in our house and was not sold through a real estate place and then we bought it. I can not go near the shed for very long because I feel a great sensation of hosility and at nights in my room I can sometimes feel the room getting very cold and feel myself being watched. Also the lights stuff up

i live in salem,ma, and yes i have seen my fair share of ghosts if thats what you want to call them, infact when i first moved into my appartment here in salem,ma that night roughly between 1 am and 4 am, i was just relzing on my bed with all of my appartments lights off, when my bedroom got extremely cold to the point you can see your breath cold and outta the corner of my eye i caught a glimpse of a tall shadowy figure pass by my bedroom door in the kitchen which is where my bedroom leads into, another time i was driveing though a cemetary that borders two cities which are Salem,ma and Peabody,ma, anyways it was snowing and i caught a glimpse of a girl with a light blue jacket standing in the snow next to a grave, when i did a double take look she was gone, when i drove up to the spot she was standing there were no footprints and the snow was around 1-2 feet deep, so that made me look at the grave where she was standing when i noticed her in the first place, the grave read 1845 -to around 1855 , ive seen all kinds of ghosts so to speak then again i also live in a haunted city, seen ghosts fading in fog etc.

I grew up across the street from a cemetary that was also a stop on the underground railroad. I would look out my bedroom window every night to see many strange things. Now I live in a house that has 2 ghosts. They don't harm anybody, they're just annoying. One likes to play with the thermostat and the other likes to walk up and down the steps.

There are SEVERAL places where I live that are haunted. One place in paticular is what some of us call GHOST ROAD. It's a real road that used to be nothing but woods. Upon investigation of this place I have stumbled upon an abandoned house that was used in several rituals. There is also a lake that was home of the GENERAL ( bad dude ). When development started to take place to make room for residentual homes there were a series of unexplained events. Such as equipment would start to malfunction, workers mysteriously got ill or injuried. It wasn't to long after development started it stoped. Some of the machines are still there now.

Not to mention the graveyards, they are always active with spirits.

Lakin Mental Hospital i live 11 miles from it.

Found this:

Established in 1919 by an act of the Legislature. Opened for colored
patients in 1926 and integrated in 1954. In 1957, the Hospital acquired
the former Boys Industrial School. A rehabilitation center has since been
added to the hospital. Lakin has 3 floors, you can feel something as soon
as you enter. At times you can see a patch of a bluish fog around the
place. You can hear footsteps on the second and third floors. Doors
slamming with no explanation and even being touch by something. You
always have the feeling of something is watching you. It has many cold
spots throughout the building. The building has had many uses including
a juvenile detention center and mental institution. It was well known as
one of the worst mental institutions in the state. This property is owned by
the state of West Virginia and the new hospital is located right across the
road. The sheriff will be called and you will be arrested if you are caught
trespassing here.

It has recently been demolished in clearance for a new building...I would have loved some ghost hunters to go through it.

TNT area - 8 minutes from house.

Called T.N.T. Area because the U.S. Military used to make explosives
there during World War II. There are over 100 igloos in the area, where
they stored the T.N.T. This is the place where sightings of the Mothman
have occurred. The first sighting was here at the old North Power Plant,
now destroyed

I live in Chicago about a block from the Historic Graceland Cemetery, There are a lot ghosts rumored to be haunting it, but one is strange a green-eyed ghoul who howls at the moon near the tomb of Ludwig Wolff. The tomb is an underground vault that is built into the side of a hill and near the entrance is where this supernatural creature lurks. I believe that the most famous Ghost at Graceland is of a little girl named Inez Clarke. Apparently, Inez died in 1880 at the age of six. She was hit by lightning. Her parents, upset by her loss, had a statue of the girl placed on her grave inside of a glass box to protect it from the elements. Supposedly, the statue of Inez vanishes from the box during extremely violent thunderstorms. Not long ago during a storm a night watchman found that the glass box that held the statue was empty. He left the cemetery that night, never to return. Other guards have also reported it missing, finding it back in its place the following morning. I have spent many hours in Graceland Cemetery, its one of my favorite places in the city. If you go to my portfolio a few of the photos there I took at Graceland. I personally have not experienced anything supernatural while I was there… I just found it incredibly peaceful.

Also when I take pictures in the living room with my digital camera, the same two orbs always show up. I don't know if this is dust or what.

Not that I have personally experienced these myself, but here are two different locations here in my town and the stories are below:

Dudley road: The story behind Dudley Rd is that there was a Nunnery on the Rd and 3 Nuns were hung for practicing witch craft. And you can now see them haunting the Rd. There is a house that was built on the Rd where the witches were hung and had to be abandoned months later because the house began to sink. The house is still there and in oddly in the ground up to the second floor windows. Every year it sinks a little more.

At the high school in billerica there have been reports of dead war veterans breathing on you and looking over you and following you on the first floor near a band room. Also around 9:pm you can see a man walkings the halls of the 3rd floor in old suspenders and rags with a deformed face and glowing dark red.

I used to live on a road in NH (USA) that was considered haunted, because random things would happen that couldn't be explained and also pets had a habit of dying for no apparent reason (like mid-step, with no explanation as to why).
Here's a link to another place that I have been to, it was pretty awesome there...

I love near Hadleigh Castle, this was owned by King Henry VIII. It is said that he still haunts it, because he has unfinished business there and the castle was under much besigement & political rows. Ghost hunts are a regular thing there. I have not been to one, there yet. I have been to Ordsall Hall in Manchester. and a place in Tenby.

One night on a dare we went up to that house as we got to the door we saw something glowing .If someone or something was in there I'll never know . cause we left as fast as we could. I used to live about two blocks from a maximum-security mental institution for the criminally insane. It was closed for many years and was closed at the time I live near it. I used to hang out there. There was this one building that was really creepy. It was all red brick and old, with moss growing on it. And it had no windows, just little things that looked like heat grates. I spent a lot of time there. It was so quite and no one else would go there. A good place to be alone and write.

Now I live in NH, about an hour from Salem Mass. But there are lots of haunted places around here. If you want to know more check out this site. http://www.hollowhill.com/nh/nh.htm

Rag Doll Cemetery

It is a small, old cemetery about 5 miles from the edge of town. The legend is that a lottle girl was murdered and buried in the cemetery and she had a ragdoll with her. The rag doll was hung on the tree by her unmarked grave. It is said that if you venture into the cemetery at night strange thing will happen. Back in the 80's a group of teenagers went to the cemetery and parked their car by the wrought iron gate and ventured into the cemetery to try and find the doll. Before they could leave the cemetery their car blew up. When I was in high school an group of us went to the cemetery to see if we could find the doll or the unmarked grave. We parked our cars in the cememtery and when we tried to leave they were dead. They would not start. And while we were in the cemetery looking for the doll we saw a bunch of lights coming from the woods behind there. No sign of the doll. But very bad vibes coming from there.

I live near the Yellow river in the Panhandle of Florida. Old timers tell of a Confererate calvery patrol that crosses the river on full moons. It is a spot were they were ambushed. You can only get there by a long treck through the woods or canoe so, I have not made it there to see for myself.

I was never really sure of it, but the last house I lived in might have been haunted. It's located between both an old hospital and a church, and there's speculation to whether there was actually a graveyard where the parking lot is.
In the house there would be the sound of the front door closing even though there was nobody around it (it was a heavy one with thick carpet under it, you really had to push it to get it open.) And I swear I could hear people talking in the game room in hushed tones, audible enough to hear, but too vague to make out any words.
Basements are creepy anyways, but the one in this house was exceptionally creepy because I got the feeling I was intruding, even though the house had not been occupied for a while.

Now, in the church nearby, the pastor there once thought he heard the sound of someone splashing in the baptismal pool, but when he looked in, there was no water in it. There's also a photograph with what appears to be a gentleman in the background who just happens to be transparent. O_o

Devils Mountain. Otherwise known as Corpsewood Manor. There were two murders there and I have actually been there.... It is out in the middle of no where on a mountain.... the two men that were murdered..... the two dogs they had were killed as well... You can hear 2 dogs barking and howling at one another when you are there. You can also see and watch things move about... Its a cool place to go if you like to go ghost hunting. :) There is a website about it. :)

I live near the Peterborough lift locks but have never seen anything there it was featured on creepy canada though. I lived in a house that was scary haunted with 2 little spirits that would grab your ankles and trip you as you were going up the stairs (never down they were just playing) or would take the dishes out of the cupboard at night when everyone was sleeping. There was one spirit that would just lean against the wall and watch things going on around the house, it was neat cause I could actually see that one. But all in all the experience wasn't bad although some bad things did happen with another ghost but him I will save for later

someone told me that all places are haunted or all places have its own ghosts...

these places you have mentioned are mostly called haunted because the ghosts there are more prone to show theirselves to humans

I live in Marshalltown IA near two forests that are haunted. They are Nicholson Ford and Three Bridges. Late at night there are spirits and other things that can be seen. Three Bridges has a history of being a murder area. My friend found several bodies last fall. There is also a coyote or wolf spirit in the town cemetery.

I live close to Frankllin Castle in Cleveland Ohio.

i myself have never witnessed anything , but my sister as a friend of hers did... they say they saw a ghost of a little girl in one of the upper turret windows.... which btw is boarded up!... anyways heres a littel snippet on the castle, and a link to go to for the rest of the details on the house and it's ghostly history.

FRANKLIN CASTLE
THE MOST HAUNTED
HOUSE IN OHIO?

"For years, the gothic mansion known as "Franklin Castle" has been called the most haunted house in Ohio. During its long and strange history, the ghost stories have become an integral part of the lore. For years, tales have been told of doors that explode off their hinges, lights that spin on their own, electric circuits that behave erratically, the inexplicable sounds of a baby crying and even a woman in black who has been seen staring forlornly from a tiny window in the front tower room.

There are many ghosts here, the legends say. But what dark deeds caused this house to become so haunted? Are the stories of the murders committed here actually true, or the stuff of legend? "

Somewhere back in the 80's, I took a hike on Buckout Road, entering from the Silver Lake Side, then heading down that private road that brances off where the old farm fence was. The one that was always locked. But this time it wasn't and the gate was wide open.
So I walked along the dirt road, then made a quick right onto another one which led to a large area of old abandoned cars that were set on fire once. All that stood were rusted dark brown cars. There must have been at least 30 of them scattered all over the place as I walked another trail some ways. Since this seemed very strange and spooky, I heard from people about Buckout Road. Now what really struck me as being weird was, who burned all those cars and why? And why didn't the authorities know about it from previous people who may have walked through there? Maybe they never reported it just like me.

Charleston W.VA

Office Building
205 Capitol
Street.
Formerly
Woolworth's
Five and Dime
Seven firemen were killed in the March 4, 1949, fire at Woolworth's Five
and Dime on Capitol Street, the most firefighter deaths in one blaze in
state history. The fire began in the early morning hours in the basement
of the building. At around 5 am a policeman noticed the fire and called it
in. Firefighters from the Central Station were on scenes minutes later and
found the basement completely engulfed and the first floor nearly fifty
percent engulfed. They formed a plan of attack that included cutting a
hole in the floor to spray water on the inferno in the basement. The plan
was working well until the wooden floor supports gave way causing the
firefighters to plunge into the basement. Of those who fell seven died that
day and it is said that you can still see some of the firefighters walking the
halls of the building.
