so i have read alot about vampires and werewolves, but until now it has just dawned on me that i have not heard that children can be vampires or werewolves. if you know of any vampires/werewolves or you believe in them. are they born the supernatural or does it come at a certain age?
I think that it probably does come at a certain age especially if when a vampire you dont age, it would suck to be 20 years old in a kids body.
In the Anne Rice novel 'Interview With a Vampire", Claudia was made into a young vampire. It was looked down on by other vampires. There were a lot of problems that were generated by hen inablility to physicaly age. This is the only case fiction or otherwise that I am aware of.
I personally believe that one is born with vampirism or...werewolf...ism...and then "come into their own" when they realize what they are or what they potentially are, and when they attain the lifestyle that best fits their extra side AND their regular side, then they have become better at life then they were before
I think most children are vampires, they drain all the energy out of their parents... Ok so that was a joke...
But in reality I believe my son probably is one, his energy levels are crazy and very imbalanced. Not to mention is moods... and sleeping pattern, which I have tried to sway.
I am not about to call him a vampire or place labels on him but I try my hardest to help him keep himself balanced.
vampires come out at the age of 21, but then it gets harder
I don't believe we can put an exact age on what time vampires come out but me being 21 (turning 22) have come out around that age (recently).
I heard puberty is a very popular time to turn (awaken)....
I believe that they can be born as vampires. But if someone is being turned, then a child is not the best because of having the strength to handle the initial change.
I do not think youngster already know or are aware of it yet, but I would say in the teenage year it starts to surface then as gets adult thats when it is clear
i believe that a child can become a vampire if sired or even if both parents were vampires
If one is born as a vampire I think it would start showing around puberty.
i don't belive very young chiildern 10 or younger know they are vampires. or werewolves. i think it takes time to come into their own. i have known some16 or older. but they really are older than their ages.
Well as someone above mentioned there is the Interview With The Vampire version of a vampire child, but as far as natural born vampires go I'd think that they would begin the "turning" process little by little as their hormones kick in during adolescence.
I believe that age would be a factor, as most Vampires or Weres would not intentionly turn a child and this is even frowned upon.
If any child was to become a vampire then it would most likely happen when the hypothalamus releases hormones into the blood of the pituitary portal system...this is puberty but on a larger scale puberty falls within the parameters of adolescence and there are psychosocial and cultural factors that contribute to the development of a child during this time...
We are neither wholly born nor wholly made what we are. The choice for us to become was made long ago. From that time onward, we have been reborn again and again, carrying within us in every lifetime the seed of what we are.
Sometimes we forget ourselves, and wander our lives like sleepwalkers, only half-aware of our true natures. Yet sleeping or awakened, we are born with the potential for transformation.
Awakening is a process of expanded awareness. Anyone with gifts and talents of a subtle nature undergoes an awakening in their life. This is when they come into their own, finally accepting what has been latent within them since birth. For us, the process can be traumatic, as the existence we awaken to opens us up to a host of strange thoughts, sensations, and experiences which lie outside the limits accepted even by other Awakened.
Awakening is the alchemical forge in which we are transformed from dross to spiritual gold. It is the recalling of a part of our Selves that has become clouded over time. It is becoming more than the little self of this lifetime, grasping the totality of who we were and who we are to be -- our Essential Self.
Some of us have greater potential than others. Some are born with an instinctive understanding of their potential and they may gradually come to realize that potential on their own. They recall without prompting and their power is great.
The bulk of our number are born ignorant to what they are. As they grow and mature, there are subtle hints of the latent power, but fear and self-doubt generally keep these from being acknowledged and accepted. Such as these must be awakened to their true selves by another of our number already familiar to our ways.
There are two rituals of initiation. The Lesser Initiation is an exchange of feeding which occurs between the teacher and the initiate. The initiate is drained deeply, often for the first time. This heightens his awareness of his energy body and will often catalyze him into realizing his potential in the next few days. The sensations that this process inspires are usually too intense to ignore or explain away. If fed from deeply enough, his instincts will overcome him and he will feed from others in order to replenish his depleted system.
The Greater Initiation involves a ritual death and rebirth which occurs on both the physical and spiritual levels for the initiate. It is visionary and shamanic in nature and forces the initiate to face himself and all that he has been within the boundaries of his own soul. Like all deaths and rebirths, this ritual strips away old identities and assumptions. The little self of this lifetime is subsumed into the greater Self, and the initiate is irrevocably changed. This rite is reserved for only the strongest minds, for any who are weak or filled with fear may not survive the initiation. Their minds can be blown away like dry autumn leaves in the face of the totality of who they are.

I can accept the possibility that children may be born with the inherent abilities of a vampire or were but after that it gets a bit murky. Puberty could bring it on or perhaps even an act of violence or danger. Something to shake the foundation of the childs beliefs could start an awakening situation.
I know it would have to suck to be stuck in a childs body
I read once about a boy about the age of eight who was a Vampire. And of course he never aged. So in his case he was bounced from foster home to foster home due to the fact his parents were dead back in like the 18th centurie or something
Wouldn't that be an interesting first dinner conversation: "Tommy, how long have your parents been deceased?", "75 years, can you pass the blood please..."
I have read only a little bit that deals with mythological vampires involving kids. As others have pointed out in Ann Rices book, it is frowned upon to turn a child.
As far as modern day, i have some response on VR of individuals stating that they have been drinking blood since they were 5 or so. I truly doubt their claims, but many state that they were aware of themselves being psy or sang before they were even 18...
I dont believe they r born that way but i do believe that children can be turned into vampires or werewolves
I can only speak for myself here.....
I knew about being different as early as 5-8 years old...between 4-6th grades, I began to have alot of bloodlust, bloodlust dreams, spiritual guides in greams that were vamp, and when tasting blood (by that point it was my own) it definately turned something on in me.....but when puberty hit, alot of 'doors' opened, psychic, vampiris, and more. It was by the age of 13 that I fully knew what I was, but then that means I accepted it (tho yes it was VERY hard to deal with at times).
I did not talk about it openly unless with close friends, few of which left because of that, and in my 20's when I talked about it openly and regularly. I am in my 30's now.
It's already been said, but yes, Anne Rice touched on that subject rather interestingly. She stated something to the effect that a child vampire would remain so for a very very very long time (I believe vampires do age, albeit slowly). I believe in the vampire culture it is shunned upon to turn immature or pre-pubescent humans.
as a child a vampire or warewolf might not know about it until a certain age then it starts to develope just like a human would
In my view, I dont think there is a set age, not puberty, or at the age of 21.
I think it totally comes down to the individual, people mature at different ages...It could take someone very young to realise they are different & figure out why there different. But another, they know they are different, but they haven't found out -why- they are different.
Me, I was a little slow myself...I knew I was always different from everyone else but I didn't know -why- until this past two years, I found out were I belong out of people.
I think also that it depends were you are from & you're background...I am from a place were things such as VR, vampires etc are bullshit, Im also from a strong catholic family...It's hard to spread you're wings in that enviroment when people are against it..
For me it was puberty, and from then on it always grows stronger as time passes, but it depends on the person,at least this has been the case in all ive interviewed
First, I would like to say GRRRR @ my mobile as I tried to reply to several forum posts yesterday via Mini Opera and it wouldn't post them. Stupid P.o.S.
Second, I will address fictional vampires:
Young vampires have been created by several different authors, Anne Rice and Laurell K Hamilton to name two. They generally create a story in the background that makes the reader frown upon children as vampires, but the character is fictional so it's all up to the author. Creative license and all that. And young doesn't necessarily denote child; to some it could mean someone turned between 18 and 21. Even by our standards this person would be an adult, but still young. When dealing with fiction, it all boils down to how the character fits into the story and how the author wants the reader to relate to that character.
Third, and last, I will address real vampires:
It is my belief that while many people might start their awakening process around puberty, they don't come to an awareness of it until they are able to come to grips with it. We all know that hindsight is 20/20 so looking back, I recognize what was part of my awakening during my teens, but I wasn't aware until my 20's.
And as far as young REAL vampires, it is my belief that we are born this way but it lays dormant in us; perhaps in some the process starts earlier than others. As our civilization has aged, we have pushed back the age of acceptance for many things (marriage, sex, etc) - mostly due to the longevity of today vs the longevity of yesterday. Perhaps vampirism refuses to be pushed back to a later age?
Plus, I know many people online who are vampires themselves and parents - they recognize many of the accepted vampiric traits (better worded as, they see their vampiric selves) in their children. I think they're in positions to know.
It is my belief that one is born a vampire.and so yes, it is possible for a child to be aware at a young age. although am aware myself of very few.most just have dim memories of feeling different that other play mates, but no real piecing together of things until much older.
If your born that way I imagine your born a vamp or wolf.
It would suck to be going through puberty for 1000 years. I'd go absolutly insane.
I beleive its when you reach an age.
No younger than perhaps 16.
Yeah, it should be after puberty because an eternity of it is worse than death...
That, but then again those children do suck your life little by little...
i believe that it comes when you reach a certain age. that is what they call the awakening process
There are a number of types of Vampires, I believe, from the simple role-players to the real thing. Those born may at once know they are a Vampire and others it may take a type of awakening. Children are no less affected by genetics or peer and social pressures than anyone else.
yes, most vampires are adults. i dunno why, we just like our blood not... jail bait :)
I believe that vampires are born vampires. How they are brought up influences when they will be awakened. I believe if a child has two vampyric parents they will be more open to their awakening than a child who has parents that aren't vampires.
I believe myself to be a vampire or at least have some such characteristics. I didn't notice that I was different untill about twelve. I don't think that vampirism is as much a part of our childhood. I don't however know anything about werewolves.
Personally- I believe you are born that way. And that until you reach a certain age it doesn't really present itself.
Fetish25 are you wanting to know about "real" vampires or fictional/mythical vampires?
I don't think the ability to be born a vampire is possible either...of course I may be wrong, but I really doubt it. I would think that it would only be possible to be a vampire if given birth to one, or taken by one. And if your mother/father were a vampire..you would think it would take time for the vampire in you to mature.
One is born the way they are, we are humans, we age, diseases can touch and kill us. I think some awaken to their vampire side early or later in life, some I don't think ever get awakened. Then there are those that live in denial.
Well, not always, your parents may have been latent and you show the tendencies that they don't exhibit....
I completly agree that in many cases it is handed down from the parents. In a since dominant and dormant genetics.
I think for young ones it would be inherited. I believe it would be a ressesive trait but a young one would still have the signs and would spend it's childhood learning to deal with what would be coming.
But, it's hard to. As adults, I'm sure it's a challenge for the rest of you as well, correct. Now imagine puberty PLUS figuring out that you were born to be something that was previously concieved as only a myth. It's hard....but genetics is always fun, not quite sure if my parents are, but most of the females in my family are psychic like I am....
Psychic abilities almost always follow the blood line either 1st geberation or 2nd. In the case of born Vampires it may skip many generations at once. Children going through these issues do indeed have a unique problem and parents rarely know what to do about it and in most cases the child either ends up in therapy or a complete outcast. Thankfuly there are people out there who can help in these situtions.
I wish other people like ourselves were around a few years ago to help explain things to me...But yes, that is true, in my case, and many of the other friends I have who've been basically driven out of society for being "different"
That is a shame, Im glad to see you have worked it out. On a personal note should you ever wish to talk let me know.
Yes this is what im saying, for YOUNGER vampires i think it would be an inherited trait passed down from one or both of the parents, and I don't really feel its possible to otherwise awaken and bloom at an early age. However I do feel that older people inherit this ability through self conciousness and awareness of their surroundings over a period of time.
who really knows the answer to this ? We can only sit back and wonder on all of the what ifs these ?s bring us.
I think its a mystery still but in my opinion i think its supernatural.
See, but I DID awaken starting at an early age....and yeah, both my parents have latent vampiric traits (also have very active psychic traits too!!), my mom is an energy vamp in denial who has depression issues (aka she should just feed already, dang), and my dad, well he's much better at it, but he has other issues (aka drinking). However you should see the set of chompers on that man!!! they do a daughter proud!
When I was outed to my immeadiate family about 7 years ago, by my ex-husband, I figured I was about to be shunned.....and instead both my mom and dad said, "Hmm, yeah add 2+2, and how you were growinng up, and it ALL makes sense, just be careful about dieases and cleanliness, we love you anyhow"...I was floored!!
When my awakening hit, starting around 12....I was alone, it was a little hard, but I knew who I was, what I was, and why...and I searched for others...oddly, at special periods in time those years, others found me, and helped, but only for short spans. There was no internet yet...there were no sites of forums. I can't say it was as hard as some might think it is, but there were rough patches. Getting older, I've made it a point to help others who are awakening (until 2006, I was VERY visible online thru Shadowlore and other sites- but having a baby to take all my time ended that). Shoot, I even put myself 'out there' by appearing on a vampire Tv show...which I have funnily found out people actually did watch, mostly co-workers, or old friends, and that outs me too....I'm ok with it.
i agree with meeper, im sorry i did start drinking blood around age 15 but not at age six when i did try, every time i tried my mom busted my bottom
Hmm... well, I have trouble conclusively saying that there are some born vampires because vampires don't age, so if they were born vampires they would still be babies at puberty and through adulthood. However, it is possible that people born vampires start showing signs of it around puberty and until then seem like normal humans. That seems the most likely answer if indeed some vampires are born. I don't know about you, but I haven't seen many vampires in baby bodies.
You mean, that it's a result of the vampire in question's personality, when s/he comes into his/her vampirism?
Makes sense.
Kind of (but not really?) like how in those Looney Tunes and other cartoons, how the guy would not fall until he reazlied he'd stepped over the cliff.
well my lill girl is only 7 and calls herself a witch ,so i dont think age matters in wot you belive you are ,or can be
age has no control over it you do have to be awear of what you are for some that comes latter in life
Based on what I've seen thus far with real life vampires, I'd say they were born with it, and some know what they are right off the bat. However, they go through a version of puberty where they start discovering more about this side, their powers, their favorite modes of feeding etc.... They don't necessarily have to be young to go through this process. Many adults seem to go through it once they discover who they are.
I dont know i think they can be born into young vampires/werewolves thru their parents but like i said i am just thinking not saying on fact
I think a lot more young ppl became "vampires" after progs like buffy and angel
As somebody else already pointed out, in the Anne Rice books, it is possible for vampires to be children. There has also been vampiric children in the Anita Blake Vampire Huntress series of books. In both cases though, the children were a little insecure. In the books by Laurell K. Hamilton, they had a tendency to be more sadistic than most vampires since they never reached sexual recognition during physical maturity.
I have never seen cases however where a child has been a werewolf other than having it mentioned in the Harry Potter books. If it is, as some say, a disease that's transmitted through bite, then I see no reason that I child couldn't become one.
Genetic vampirism? I suppose it's a possibility, but I've never heard of it before. Any other thoughts on that?
I believe it is not the physical "age" that matters with a vampire coming out I think it is the mental "age" when you can actually grasp the understanding of who and what you are.
It can be either. from the time i was a child i wanted blood. raw meat etc..so are there children yes. my son is a vampyre also.
I was born the way I am even as a child had gifts. I think for the most part vampyres are born.
hey thats a thought kytryn i have 2 sons. my eldest that will ONLY eat meat and literally nothing else (other than sweets) lol, and my youngest im sure will become a vegertarian he eats all vegs and very little meat.
MMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmm!
I've had a thing for blood since before I can remember. Which is why "scary" and gorey movies never bothered me. I enjoyed watching things bleed. I was born a vampyre.
there is a book series by Darren Shan it's called Cirque Du Freak there is a young vampire in the book but he is only half it is a very interesting series
They can be born into it, Although it will be rough on them. They can be turned when they are young but its not permited. there bodys can not always handle the stran.
i agree with Nicolae to some degree. they are born some time but it takes affect at a certine age or they can be turned and with that there a risks involed.
I think it's a good point that it could skip a generation, there are lots of traits that skip generations, just an example, having twins sometimes skips more than one generation
I think that you sort of are born then awaken. I'm not a vampire myself, but I've done a lot of research.
I think it's a totally different case for every different vampire. One might know about it since 5th grade while others awaken or aware in their late 20's. It's like puberty itself. I started when I was like 11 or 12 and my mom was 16. I think the same thing happens to vampires.
In my story that I'm writing, I'm making the rules myself. In my story people CAN be born a vampire. They grow like a normal human until puberty and then they start to grow VERY slowly. But that's just my imagination...not real.
Like I said, I think it depends on the vampire.
Oh and yeah, going through puberty for an eternity would totally suck.
that is a good ? i was introduced to vampirism when i was 12 i went to a vamp party with a friend who was female and much older than me that is were i truly found myself enjoying the pleasures of vampireism i new i found my true being i love to be bit and i love to bite my first taste of blood was so energizing when i was up and comming when i would see blood i had to ask" may i have a taste" usually i got strange looks but i always got a taste lol now if look drained i am offerd i still rememer my first victim i mean friend
i think its by been bitten at w.e age
or wen they mate
n hav offspring
I would say at birth , a trueblood .. but I am not sure if there powers evolve around there teenage yrs or not .. just an opinion
I think it comes at a certain age, but some children can have special gifts at an early age, meaning that maybe later they may become a vampire.
if your born with it i dont think so... i think you have your "powers" if you will or ablities... from birth .. but your body must age a certin amount.
I agree with xratedvampirex, in that a person must age a bit even if they are born with it. I was born with it and I had my first taste of my own blood when I was 3. My mother testifies that every night my bedding was bloodied up. that I would bite people till I got blood. I think that the vampiric traits leak into the person as they grow up. Just like no one's breasts grow the same rate, same time, or same size, the rate that vampirism grows in individual or the time that it starts would be different in all.
I think you are born with it ..only it takes time for you to realize it and except it and be comfortable
my human aunt n uncle gav birth to a demon grl.. i can feel the vibe.. i think shes a cat demon but i dnt wanna hurt her trying to find out.. well ne way i believe that it has to do with the persons soul..
Perhaps as one matures and grows into adult hood then need grows with it and one fully becomes what one is meant to be. The mind of a child may not be ready to understand or accept these changes.
I do beleive in vampires and werewolves, and I may be the only one in my family. I think that we are born vampires and such, but at a certain age we "awaken" to it, and realize that we are more than just human
Yes the awakening starts at a certain age just like puberty does usually somewhere in the teens
I think that it is puberty that triggers the awakening of the vampire inside of a child but before that they are not able to handle things
You never really hear of young vampires. That is really weird. I didnt even think of that till you had mentioned it. I think its of a certain age type of thing..but..definately will have to look more into that. Thanks for the idea!
i am not quite sure, but i think that when a child is born between two vampires, they are born a vamp, but they grow normally. but at a certain age, like 18, they stop changing. --or-- the parents have to bite the child at the appropriate time, so that they may grow and change, until they are ready.
I think it would be like puberty you hit a certain age you become a man or with vampires you hit a certain age you become a vampire if you were born one.
Age I belive has nothing to do with it. If you were born you know your a vampire when your willing to accept it. With a werewolf it would be harder to not eccept.
