Hem, i was looking through everyones profiles and i noticed that people usually make vampires look deformed or extremely sick looking...why?

maybe there's a race of vampires who are pretty/handsome...

what do you guys think?

There has to be somewhere, just gotta look close enough...

Why deformed and sickly looking? Because many people love the folklore and literature. That is the nature of the old world fictional vampire of history.

or maybe its just hard to find ALOT of good SEXY vamp images lol ...

Perhaps it could have to do with a few things. Such as, maybe they just like the old style and disgust of the older vampire depictions and also, maybe the more modern decpition ...well, perhaps some people just don't want to agree with what people like Anne Rice sees a vampire....To each their own, but it is a very good question.

yeah, its very hard to find "sexy" vamps..

Actually I have seen a great many sexy, beautiful vampire pictures- granted almost all of them where female, but still....

I agree with the sentiment that most people, especially people my age, tend to lean towards the more traditional old world depictions of vampires, for personal reasons, esthetics, or tradition.

But I find more and more that vampires are being portrayed these days as young, sexy, and erotic- which is ok, but definitely not in keeping with the origins of vampires, and the fear in which they were held in the old days.

yes while i love the sexy vampire...lets not forget the one and only bela lugosi....he brought class and the accent. and the charm....i still love to watch the 1931 version....

It seems to me that the old tales of vampires have just tried to frighten everyone, thus, trying to make the image of vampires horrifying and ugly.

These days, it seems Hollywood has tried making the image of vampires beautiful and exotic, hence, Interview with the Vampire, etc.

It's the classic look for vampyres. Vampyres are monstrous creatures, and I have yet to see a monstrous creature who looks pretty/handsome unless they have the ability to shape-shift.

I think that all vampire forms are beautiful. In almost all vampire legends the true form of the vampire is hideous. This is meant to scare people. I do not know if there is a race of vampires that is not scary in the true form or not.

Yeah, many look at vampires as evil creatures. So there is more bad looking vampire images online than others. But the movies seem to play more towards the beautiful vamp;)

Most people view vampires as evil beings and depict them as creatures of the night. Therefore, being misshaped and ugly. I have always viewed them as erotic and sensual creatures. It is in the eye of the beholder how we portray them. Hollywood makes them look whatever is appealing at the time.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So saying one type of vampire is more aesthetically pleasing over another is moot. This said, there will always be some kind of vampire that really appeals to everyone -- as many as there are human fantasies to come up with them. :)

I think Vampires are beautiful but can be very horrific looking as well.
It just depends on how you see them...

There are examples where vampires are hideous and deformed just as there are strikingly handsome vampires portrayed by the Hollywood crowd.

If their are true vampires walking the earth then their will be many types, but i guess people like the folklore of vampires...

I know one that was portraited as sexy, and it was the one in the tv serie Forever Night, even when he was about to strick, the "good" vampire as well as the evil ones were sexy, not deformed, well at least from what I can remember.
Of course it is less scary and wihtout fear, the blood is deprive of adrenaline the main thing that gives essence to it.

well the deformed vampire is commonly associated with a medevil? {sp} time and that has just stuck in the minds and fears of the general population through out all time I assume that it would be possible to find sexy vampires but highly unlikely

I'm going to have to agree with those who stated that if there were an actual race of mythical/fictional vampires walking the earth, you'd find different looking vampires in that race - just as you do in the human race. We're not clones.

People choose different depictions of said mythical/fictional vampires for personal reasons...and why shouldn't they? As someone pointed out, google images should provide you with quite a few pics of "sexy" vamps (yes, mostly female). Then again, isn't that determined by YOUR definition of sexy?

generally they are following the transylvanian way of thinking...
they all believe what folk tales have told them and the base everything off of what they hear and not what they think...
frankly i think vampires look like what you think they should like like....

why would they have to be sexy and beautiful? thought it was about the appeal, the way they capture you..beauty is as beauty does..no matter if they're not sexy it is what they have that attracts you isnt it?

Truth be told most Vampires are 'good looking'; the ones who aren't are usually of a certain species or type.
I.E: Most Nosferatu Vampires are not very appealing...

Most vamps are extremely attractive, sensual, romantic, Patient.

well we all cant be beautiful some are and some are not just depends on the person that is veiwing and what they seem to veiw what a vampire is to them.

well....personally i think that some are hideous looking because they enjoy the rush of killing people for the fear and their last drop of blood which would make them look like monsters
others who are attractive and beautiful is because they only take what they need to survive and dont let the last drop currupt them like the others

True...but sometimes beauty doesn't matter to people...its whats on the inside that counts....dead or not.

I've never really seen any pictures or anything that make vampires look sickly. I've never even read or heard about it. It's always been the "flawless white skin like marble" or some crap like that.

But if that really is happening...people view things differently. It could be for effects, for diversity...or they just believe vampires are like that.

If you are ugly oh well not all are beautiful.

the thing is, depending on what you believe, the Vampyre is a human reborn into death, and depending on what the human looked like, aren't they suppposed to be the improved form? or indeed the reverse, a walking corpse refined?

I agree everyone has their own idea of what is attractive to them. Nice looking boy vampire pictures are harder to come by. Recycling the old Brad Pitt/Tom Cruise pics gets boring.

If you mean the Hollywood version of vampires.Yes, they are usually evil, demon type of creatures.Anne Rice amoung other writers ,has her creatures being beautiful.
It depends on what ya fancy I suppose.And if vampires are thought of as demons then most folks view them as ugly things.I know several vampires and think them quite attractive*grins*

Well The Vampire Attraction can be so many ways it al depnds on the person some ppl see them as beautifull creatures and some see them as ugly beings.Well to me I see them as The most wonderfull creature in the world

easy way to find sexy vampires. go to photobucket and look up anime vampires. believe me, there are tons of good looking ones that way. oh and if ya want to blame the right people for ugly looking vampires, look at nosferatu. he's not tom cruise (who makes a pretty good looking vampire i.e. Interview with the Vampire)

The generaly look like normal humans going thrugh everyday lives. some just try to fit in with the other humans. but they eventually take there true form with is basicly the same for a vampire. They all come in diffrent shapes or forms just like reguar people do.

I think like with anything else, you can find beauty in them as well as those deformed and ugly. It seems to me that in the old movies they used to make them look more horrid than good looking, for the most part, but now-a-days, it seems they are bringing out the good looking vampires out in movies. Perhaps the image that has remained on most people's minds are that of the old folklore vampires so that's why we tend to see more of those kind of vampire images rather than the handome ones.

I think vampires are beautiful creatures but sometimes it's hard to find pictures that show that....

i think vampires are portrayed in such a way as they represent the livving dead and the awakening of a vampire from being a dead person to a livving vampire..

Its interesting... but I believe that Vampires are sort of.. disformed in the way that they are so beautiful and perfectly made rather then distorted

Oddly enough, I find more sensual and visually beautiful vampire images out there lately than the more grotesque. Sure they have fangs and the ocasional blood drip from a well-painted lip, but that is part of the allure. Much of the attraction of the modern vampire image is the way vamps are different from humans. It's the forbidden fruit factor, flirting with danger. Thus, vamps still display the image of that Othernes.... And it IS beautiful in many cases. Now, as for the old schooll Nosferatu, there's not much I can say that will make that look pretty. *heh*

well is it the lore that attracts most people or the first impession.. To me looks are a part cause you need to have some sort of physical attraction.. but what really does it the total package ..

i actually think that all vampires are or were really hansom/pretty and that people made them look ugly so that people wouldnt lik them and be afraid of them

I don't know the name of the "race" but there are some pretty/handsome vamps. Mostly peoples views are romantic in makeup.... Hollywood theory if you will. other views are fictional, from books.... it is all up to the person as to what is pretty/handsome or not....

Vampires were always portrayed as beautiful and romantic. Eventually someones sick, yet creative mind suggested them to be fierce, and vile creatures.

in my opinon i think that they have been portrayed as romantic,sadistic beings but as the one above me mentioned it is a creative thought that someone decided to act on! and there u go.

I think a lot of the old world beliefs and myths protrayed vasmpires as ugly creatures to make them more terrifying so people would fear them. As time went on, the meaning was lost but the tradition continued. Now there are people who break the tradition and protray them as beautiful.

I would imagine that there is a mx of beautiful and ugly vampires in the world, just like humans.

I think alot of the reasoning behind the portraying of sexy vamps is because of the illusion that vamps create when taking a vic. Example: a vamp bite is orgasmic.

As humans we associate orgasms with sexy so therefore would portray in our minds eye anything that gives us orgasms as sexy.

I think most of us know that Vampires are not horrid looking creatures. We are everywhere, and we are just as normal or abnormal as everyone else. Hollywood started portraying vampires as demonic, ugly creatures and then ended up with the romantic, beautiful vampire. Most of the people on VR have awesome vampire pics. Some beautiful, and others powerful looking.

I believe it is because back in Romania in the old days people with a certain disease ( forgot the name) were labeled vampires. Most people who are not to familiar with vampires almost always associate vampires with romania, this is where the apademic took place. The sickly people were supposed to be lacking in iron from their disease so they would feel more content after drinking other peoples blood as it boosted their iron levels and made them better. Also almost always associate monsters with uglyness and so it still is today.

Vamps have a certain sex appeal about them, as the story has been told since they found out about the original religion that the term "vampire" came from. The real people that lived that relion, many years ago, were normal looking people. The scary, evil, and ugly part of it all came from the "normal" religions thinking that their relion was evil. History tells the story, you just have to look for it.

Well, i think that sometimes, the artists have never seen us vampires close up and imagine us as monsters. We look average, but in most books, the avergae vampire looks imhumanly beautiful and can make his/herself even more beautiful

I've seen a lot of more "sexy" Vampyre pics lately . Or the "sexy" evil vampire look . And the majority of these sexy vampyres are all women and lesbian mainly . Come peoples . There are sexy vamprye guys out there . I like to see more of them all . Old world and New world looks . There has to be a perfect balance between both .

idk, i think what ppl make of vampires is from their own cultural upbringing.

i dont think real vampires are just ugly or just beautiful. its a mix of every type. its be easier to hunt if they blended in with the human populas. after all, we are preditors.

I like to think of vampires as beautiful and perfect creatures that humans are no where near close to being alike to them. In what I draw, and write about, I imagin them as graceful creatures too, and I don't care for the drawings, pictures, and whatnot, that make them out to be evil monsters.

I think vampires are beautiful creatures and should be drawn in that fashion but it is the stories of vampires from movies and books that may caused people to paint them in a negative and sicking way.

i think that people see vampires in movies and think they look like . ithink vampires come in many different forms.

i think it depends on the type of vampire. modern ones are more human looking in my opinion. however, some ppl say there is a change when they feed. its all about perception. if u think vamps change when they feed, or jus change their look to something hideous when fighting, then thats ur opinion and it may be true.... u know what i mean? there are different races and kinds just like humans.

well most pure people think vampires think that they a sickly looking and that they have these long teeth and they normally think that vampires are evil but they won't take the time to learn about the vampires and they won't realise that vampires are really kind and friendly people (well some of them)
