Despite the obvious flaws in the original question it is a useful one to answer.

For myself. Yes, I have a soul, if you can define a soul as the animating body that survives after death that is the vehicle of my mental focus/will.

Am I evil. Well that depends on who you ask. Some will tell you yes, that i am a miserable, self centered sob that has no business being alive, and to others, im a good and loyal friend, who is known to do anything for those i consider family or friends. So it is a perspective on what the situation requires. I am no more one then the other, as I do not care if I reincarnate as a Dung beetle. I am in human form, and a human i will be.

I have no soul. My heart is black as nite. I love the tast of blood. I sleep in a coffin and i can not go out side in the sun lite. So i am the undied. So i am a vampire.

I still respect life,and humanity,yes sunlight proves a problem,the thiorst i try to control,i can see my reflection in a mirror.night time is my dominion,when i feel most alive.But we are the childeren of the night.But evil is something i fight not to be.I personally try to retain the qualitys that i had when i was human.

Lavisbre, in many a debate can be a clad response to an answer. You ask two questions to start with that ask for a debate. Then now you ask something I really do not know what you mean. I do not understand what you mean by –the murder- part of being a Vampire. Could you clarify that please.

How do you distinguish or tell the difference between the different vampire races?

I say some can be good and some can be evil.

This also depends on the type of vampire you are not all vampires need blood and it is not necessary to kill the victim when there are so many humans willing to be donors. Being a real vampire does not mean there is no soul or that one is undead and evil it just means they are a different type of person that is out there.

It is possible that some may possess a soul or by doing good deads could possibly earn one. It is possible they could steal human souls as well.

In regards to your comment about serial killers and mass murderers....I have had the misfortune of meeting many in my life. Some of which have tried to infact kill me. They are not pleasent people, but the serve their purpose. However I would much rather that they go and visit you if you think it would be a better waist of their time, as well as seeing how useful they are.

Murder does nothing. It does not teach lessons, does not raise the spirit beyond its flesh, it is ignorant, and waist ful. There are some times when death is warrented by corrupt actions, generally good death does not happen by the hands of men, even if they hold to it by god.

Well they way I see it. I was born and razed wiccan. I become a vampire when i was in middle school. I do not go by the wiccan law and I dont believe in good and evil. I believe everyone goes by there way of doing stuff. I mean you mite think it is wrong when in the other person eyes it is right. It is just nature of everyone and everything.

Once again I can only say I believe all humans to be vampiric in nature, as for souls, yep I think we all have one of those as well....good or evil....we are all works in progress.

i agree with that guy above me, there are numerous definitions that fit vampire or vampirism...personally my view conflict with the author of this thread.

but here is the thing that most forget. u cannot be good with out a small part that is evil and u can not be evil with out a small part in u that is good. so u see what is evil and what is good. as far as being undead. what is death. that is a matter of what the person thinks what his or her beliefs are. for i know that i have had a past life. but as far as that i am quite alive......


but what the person up above some where said what is real to one person may not be real to another. so in the end it is all a matter of the mind and what that person can grasp with his or her minds.

Soul, by my definition, is that energy force that is capable of existing beyon the material; yes I have one.

Am I evil, yes. I regularily break commandments I believe in, however i also recognize that these are faults of my character and make half assed attempts at improving myself occasionaly. I have some regrets but no guilt, I am only mildly evil by my own accounting.

Like I mentioned im in talks with a very convincing individuals, they confirmed there blood drinkers and that means the death of the person they drink from so murder is topic.

I will try to give a serious answer but this really is complicated to do in a forum posting and obviously everyone here has their different perspective which is correct for them and should not be subject to criticism or ridicule.

I am Vampyre and I do consider myself undead. But for me to give a simple answer like that does not illustrate the myth and legend from reality.

Most people draw their conclusions about vampires from popular culture, stories, movies, books, etc. With rare exceptions these ideas are far from what I view as reality.

I drink blood of others but never prey on others. I drink only consentually. Blood is a powerful life force and I derive sustanance from it, of course this would be true even unconsentually. However, the act of drinking consentually also creates a deep bonding of souls, me with them and them with me forever, that is at least as important to me as the sustanance.

I say I am undead but does this mean the shell that I currently occupy cannot be harmed? Of course not, my body shell only allows me to take human form, it can be destroyed in an instant by any normal means, no elaborate ritual is required to kill this shell. A vampire is a spirit being and is not subject to death just because the shell he/she has chosen to occupy at the moment ceases to exist.

When this shell is gone I will choose another. It is not like an act of reincarnation, it is rather more like finding one that meshes well with your spirit and then bonding with that particular life form for the duration of its existance.

As to the question of good and evil, I don't believe that vampires are inherently either. Just like humans some can be very good and some can be very evil. One is not made good or evil just because they are Vampyre!

For me ,the light sensitivity, the ache and tired feeling when I don't feed.I am a hy hybrid from lack of sang. donors.And so since I moved to the U.S. I have not fed from blood only energy.
I also feel more energized at night, food tastes have changed since my awakening, sleep patterns, etc.My empathic ability and psychic ability have increased a lot.

what trite garbage...of course you can, you find a willing donor, I have drank blood, but don't feel the distinct need...and I have never killed anyone.On the point of undead only though...if I cut you, you would bleed, if I take you into the sun, you would NOT burst into flame, and if I poured holy water on you, likely it would simply wash off some skin oils....I have met many people who could do strange and interesting things, but NONE would have rated as undead...and by saying that you don't care if you thread questions are poorly stated, you are torpedoing your whole debate right at the start.

Yes, alot of the disagreement on what defines a vampire comes from the association of undead.

I think to most of us it would imply at least a NDE; if not having fully died and come back into an animated corpse or simalacrum.

Is Undying a better term, if so, then anyone who believes in reincarnation and can remember their past lives might be concidered undying.

I should think that any arguement for immoetal soul can be immediately disregarded as it is nessesary to apply the term death to the physical world and not to the imaterial (unless of course you believe hell/heaven and the return to earth is litteral.)

I daresay that any true undead spirit would be on the internet. They would be attached to their source of power, those they energetically attached to in life.

Kglitterous, another point you made is about 'undying' rather than undead. In that case, would it simply be the body, or the soul that we'd refer to? Because yes, reincarnation would imply the soul is undying. But undead implies a re-animated corpse - the traditional view of vampires.

Yes I am a vampire. There is no one characteristic that defines anyone. As such, no one can possibly debate that without a headache.

Yes I have a soul. Everyone at one time or another, (before the vampire bit you) has had a soul. Now whether you choose to believe that it's still there is entirely up to the vampire in general. Personally though the soul is your personailty, your animation. Everyone is different, even vampires.

Am I evil? Yes and no. Yes because I kill my victims every once in a while. That might be bad to some. Again it's a state of mind on what's right or wrong. No I'm not evil to me and my state of mind is the one that matter's right?

I am almost tire of the systematic responses not answering the question, so in my point of view, I will give one to you.

I work graveyard at an undisclosed location in the French Quarter, New Orleans. Does not mean the light of day does not bother me, although it is very irritating to squint the eyes every time I step into the light, whether it is a street light, or the daylight.

My hearing is slightly atuned, ringing is an almost constant with the flow of traffic, loud voices, people talking all at once gets very overwhelming to where I have to either walk away, or into another room.

Touch has its pleasant side, during specific natures, it gets very sensual.

Sight, well...Lets just say my doctor gave me a 25/25 per eye on the exam. Or was it 15/15, I can't remember, the only thing I know is sometimes I can see further than the eye can see. That is a fact. No jokes.

Strength is not a matter. Just human. Bodybuilding is an exercise. Even though I am only about 5'4" 120 pnds, and can bench an astonishing 170 on a good day. Fact.

Yes I have a soul, but as to those movie myths of being swayed by garlic or crosses is yet what it is a myth. I have no fear of garlic or of crosses. I do not concider myself to be an evil person. I do not need to drink blood all the time, most the time I feed off the energy one puts out.

As for sunlight, I can be out in the sun but only for short periods of time or I do burn, but not into an inferno mind you. That is highly again over exaggerated by hollywood myths.

As for the aging process, being mortal and immortal makes no differance. As I am who I am, my aging process is extremely slower. As the paperwork in my possession states, I am technically 5 years behind on my aging process, physically speaking, I have looked the same since I was 8 years old, save for the facial hair, and longer face. I have a higher metabolism than most, and digest quicker. my fingernails do grow at an extended length when I do not cut them, a bit faster at the growth process in some areas. When the sun does hit me for a period of time, I burn and blister, I never tan. I could write down the diagnosis from the younger exams, but I do not see the point...Moving on.

I lay no claim to being true undead, I would just like to answer the post from personal perspective, A Vampire is defined by their own perception of themselves, they are by nature creatures of the night, but are also creatures of variety, therefore no two are able to be defined in the same way, much like humans are, I feel that if a vampire had a soul it would be a truely sad creature to behold, knowing your fate and not being able to do anything about it, to change it to reverse it if you wanted to, would tear anyone apart, I have heard that many lose themselves completely and just let all of the primal instincts take over, becoming nothing more than another animal, it is not something pleasant, by the same token, It would give the vampire a form of control, a reserve a knowledge of when is too much and what is not acceptable, And as others have said, I do not believe any one is absolutely evil unless it is by choice, you can be a vampire and choose not to be Evil, everything in that life I believe is a choice, you choose how you want to define yourself and the rest will follow suit, that is what I think.

to me a vampire is a person who is either dead or is living among the people that he or she preys on and either takes from them blood or energy from as not all vampire are the bloodsucking type. They do have a soul but it is always trapped undernenth the thirst for whatever they crave in the middle of the night.

I was all set to respond to this question until I saw that it was "undead only." I know LOTS of "rel vampires" who are NOT "just role players", but have yet to meet anyone who would qualify as undead. Vampires, as far as I'm concerned, have something in them that makes them crave the life energies of others, be it in the form of blood or emotion or just straight up.

Again, it comes down to how you'd define a 'true' vampire. If by that, you mean a hollywood-myth, Vlad Dracul type who can't go out in the sun and is scared of crosses, you'll be disappointed.

Nowadays, a 'true' or 'real' vampire is someone who takes energy from another being, whether by blood, or siphoning the energy directly, or by other means. There are plenty of this kind on VR. I should know, i'm one of them.

Ok! I'm trying to follow this whole conversation so bear with me.
Yes I consider myself a vampire. The thirst is bothersome but I have found ways to control it. The sunlight is a HUGE problem for me, but also I have found ways to deal with that until I can get better suited in a position that I can deal with. (job wise) It does not matter how tired I am during the day, as soon as the sun is down I am alive again. (by alive i mean awake).

I do not know where the murder comment came into play, but I did see that to drink blood you have to kill (if I read it right). I do not agree with that. I for one have killed no one and as mentioned above I do drink blood.

What defines you as a vampire? Strange question, it's like being in love I suppose, you just know that you are, balls to bones, it's always there in your mind, it affects everything you do and say right down to the way you think and live.
As to soul and evil, for me soul - yes I suppose so, but not in a religious sense. Evil, well thats just a name others give you depending on there view on your actions and beliefs.

That's true but most of us share at least similar perspectives on where the line becomes pretty clear in the evil aspect at least. There may be a lot of grey before that point but most of us have long since come to an agreement on the evil in questions like murder, rape, torture, etc.

I have the same view with the king arther stories, why when you have the power of the land England due to the sword would you go after a dinner set (grail) from a religion that was doing what it was doing to the population and not even mentioned in the supposed time when a king arther could of lived in the first testament.

It’s an extension from menstrual blood and semen.
I also use it to write sigils, the reasoning is writing in blood seems historically to form a bond with user and spell.

I only feed from energy and i do consider myself vamp. however, i dont mind sunlight. I do love the night. but i love the colors of the day as well. I feel things within energy and i sense bad things when they are coming. I always felt ive had a soul. I dont consider myself any more evil than any other person on this earth. But to many im probably just another average person. Not to myself though.

Evil is a term that others use on you depending the rules and ideas that they live by, one mans evil is another's slightly strange.

To be fair you cant say you are a vampire beacuse every 1 thinks different things you can say it to yourself but say it to pritty much anyone else and they more than likely wont beleave you. Im not sure if i beleave in the kind of vampires in book and films but no one can answer what a real vampire is coz no one can prove what one is.

the dark x brings up a good point. i guess without true definition of souls (or even a true one on vamps) there never really will be an answer. To me a soul always was what was inside of us and lives forever even after death. but thats the catholic view. souls are put in by god at conception yadda yadda. but i have never really looked up any other definitions for a soul to even begin on deciding what it means.

am i evil? no more so then the next person. vampires are evil only based on their actions, not their nature. they must behave badly.

do i do questionable things? sometimes.

but i practice some minor magic to just keep my natural darkness in control. so i think that makes me not evil.

As for the original post I don't believe anybody, vampire or non, can have a lack of a soul. I think the soul is what makes us all alive, makes us walk around.
And evil, simply depends on the person, once again, vampire or non.
