I'm still fascinated by this. All advice would be welcomed, do I use a 'Ouija Board' or 'Medium'.
What are the dangers?
Are there others way to contact the dead?

Ouiji boards are the devil, hon. They're honestly the worst thing you could use. They're unreliable because mind of matter does effect them, and you should never use them alone. They're more dangerous than one thinks. You should check out the book "Quiji: The Most Dangerous Game" by Stoker Hunt about them.

I personally don't put too much stock into ouija boards. There are too many outside influences (such as hands moving the pointer and not realizing it). I use tarot cards and a pendulum to contact spirits when I need to. I also meditate and open my third eye chakra to make myself more open to recieving messages from spirits.

if I were to go with the Quiji Board idea I'd make sure that I had someone there knowing what they were doing.

When or before i contact any spirit I do a protection spell and ground my self first , Like anything even the ouija board . You never know what spirit u tryed to contact may be that spirit like any spirits lie and decieve u

Try automatic writing.

I Have used the ouija Board before and Oh Hell dont use it alone when i first used it i didnt believe it was real i thought It was my girlfriend playin games with my head then.. the demon in the Board prooved itself to me and it scared the hell outta me and i made my girlfriend burn the thing never again to have touched one since... Find a different way to contact the Dead the Board is not Healthy or Safe by any means You have no idea who Your dealling with and its not good.. Be SAFE..

You could try using a The Black Mirror and find someone who is skilled in the art of scrying. Personally though I leave the dead alone.

I would go with the Ouiji board, as long as you study on how to use one or have someone their who know's what they are doing you will be fine, the only people that usually have problems with ouiji boards are people who play around with them...

ouji board is the wrong way to go these can do more harm than anything whether someone knows how. THis is a key to pandoras box and evil at its purest. Try tarot or meditation.

I have been around ouji boards my whole life and nothing bad has ever happend to me, i think the reason people think ouji boards are so bad is because of movies making them look bad...

I've never known anyone who has proven they could talk to the dead.

I ask as I believe sceptisism is healthy. There are fakes out there.

However I maintain that any person who is serious about finding evidence of survival will do so.

Mr Ouija as they call it in Florida, is the classic old school way of summoning those departed. My mom did this when she was young as did my grandmother. Simpe but very effective.

I had nothing but badd experiences with the Ouiji Boards. i personally think they should NOT be sold as games for kids. One: it could be faked by someone in the group
Two: Who says that spirits don't lie? You ask are they good or evil. When you say goodbye I don't think that is a good enough way to shut the gate to the other side. I'd say use a medium that is REAL.

Agreed with what most everybody said about Ouija boards, they're untrustworthy, it doesn't matter who's using them. Contacting the dead is a risky business and should never be done unless you're strong in magics and know what you're doing, even then, it's still a risk.

me too i have a hard time trusting anything like that but there are some very good and trust worthy thing you can do besides using them

i would say ouiga board.. just dont play around with it.. from exsperience you can contact the dead not to all but can contact those who want to be contacted with out the boards or automatics ect ect

i can give you my personal experience... i used a ouija once and we contacted a man who had died long ago... but after that, the guy lingered at my house for a while... and finally i had to get help to send him back to his plain... because ouijas are like portals (that's my personal opinion). Now, mediums ... if you trust him/her it's ok, because the market is full of wanna-bes...
now, i had other experience when we contacted my grandma... she told me... that she was ok, and she will always be looking after our family but she was ok, and she needed to rest...
that gave me the idea that i had to let the dead in peace...

I would leave the Ouija Board alone. I also would consider to do a protection spell before trying to contact any spirits.

My advice is to forget about the Ouiji board. It is misleading, and dangerous. There are lots of people who are a legitimate mediums, and can be located online, phone book, and the like. If you want to do it yourself, find a good book for instruction. Be careful. Best of luck!

last time i used the board nothing happened..

i would not reccomend the use of an ouija board to make contact. a seance with a good medium is enough to make any contact neccessary in these cases. the board is a powerfull tool and if not used correctly can make for a bad day that is for sure.

first ouija board devil's door to your soul and house, it opens 2 door, and ojly one you see, plus its not possible to cloe the door so you end uop with a highway of unwanted spirits and demons, who comes in at will.

Second another way to contact or to use spirtual abilities and a better one that you can control and also close when you are done is a pendulum or a crystals, as once you are done you ask the door to close and ask the crystal or pendulum to show yu its close

I personally wouldn't bother. I mean, the knowlede of the dead is often puffed up, but how can a dead soul learn more? Most mytholgies posit that souls depart the world for somewhere else, unless they become ghosts. And, ghosts are usually stuck in that state for reasons usually rooted in tragedy. If the spirit isn't too stuck on the thing that killed them, what's to say they would give information, free of malevolent twisting? Might I suggest as an oracular source divine beings? At least they are credited in the stories as being all-knowing, as well as having a clearly defined price (i.e. worship) for thier insights.

I personally have never used a Ouija board.But i had friends that used one thinking it was all a big joke.Not sure how evil they are but i do know after them using it..you can't even mention that word now without them turning pale and not wanting to hear anymore.I never thought about them after that.

I know the reason for contacting the dead are many, but mine are selfish, private reasons - i'm not looking to get anything paranormal out of this.

i advice u to find spirit questors then ask them!! or let u try this one.. try to lock ur door at ur room.. and sleep the whole night for sure u will have a pleasant dream to communicate dead!!!

contacting the dead involves opening a gateway and opening yourself to the element of death. there are several rituals written on this subject. it all depends upon your perceptions and which method will work for your madness.

the best time to do this is on halloween or its corresponding point on the wheel of the year in the spring. when the veils are the thinnest, the ritual to open the gateway may be more easily traversed.

any number of rituals in the art of necromancy use the art of contacting the dead as a means of divination (this is the premise of ouija boards).

Use of a Ouija board opens a portal through many spiritual creatures can enter and affect you and your surroundings. Most other forms of divination are much safer. A protection circle is a necessity when doing this type of activity to protect you from many things.

People can see and talk to spirits but most who can are born with the ability. A lady I know interacted last night with two spirits in a hospital room in an oncology ward. I guess they died there and are haunting that room.

Some spirits can reveal themselves to even untalented persons. I have seen spirits in pictures taken at the Myrtles a preCivil war plantation home that is heavily haunted.

From my own experience's, when one meditate's and clears their mind and seeks a conference with their spirit guide(s), they will know how to hear the spirit's and thus be able to hear and contact spirit's without any meditating, medium's, or "devil board's." When one learns to listen and hear what is not said, and can see what is not there, they can communicate with those who are not around. The ouija board has always been more of a board game than an actual spiritual medium and is currently marketed by Parker Brothers I think.

The 'inventor' of the ouija was a game maker. However, it does work on the similar principles of the time period where spirit wheels and other 'random' letter producing devices were meant to create communication with the spirit world. I blame the movies and fiction in general for the bad reputation it picked up somewhere around the 70's.

Still if you want to get in touch with a specific dead person and not through a medium (which really you have to trust or not). May I suggest just asking? Given enough focus, respect, quiet meditation and so forth, you stand about as much chance of contacting your intended with just your mind than you would with a boardgame or automatic writing or a pendulum.

The dead may already be trying to contact you and you're just not open to receive the messages.

it is very hard to contact the dead because it is not something you should play around with because you can accidentally unleash a demonic spirit and not know how to retame it

I have enough ability to not need to use any sort of tool to help me..but I do restrict my use of these skills to when I am feeling physically and emotionally strong so that I am not left in a vunerable state.

I use automatic writing or tarot cards sweety never the Quiji It has always been a dangerous practice I don't go near them.

I've always loved the look and feel of Ouija Boards, I have quite a few. I use them for many things, not just contacting "the dead". Actually I have a problem with the term "The Dead", if I was in a room floating around "advising" people, if they insisted on referring to me as "the dead" I might just have to mess with them a wee bit. And no "life challenged" doesn't work either, what about un-seen entity or other-sider, I'd prefer "It" to "the dead", but hey, that's just me!!:D

I have a problem with good and evil to muhself, if a "spirit" is "evil", do you think it brings them pleasure being called that, and, if it does, that opens another can of worms. (most things do, no?) I prefer to use angry or happy when it comes to spirits I can't see that have an "effect" on me.

But to the board...

Has anyone used the word "charged" yet, as in, a negatively charged board or a positively charged board? The way a thing is charged has a lot to do with the effects it exhibits, again IMO.

I've always said that when using a ouija Board, you must be very carful because its said to be like a door and once opened anything can come to our plain both good and bad. so use your oun judgement on the subject but i never use one unless i have my circle in place and others to help me along

So a positively charged board is better than a negatively charged anything, let's say deck of cards.

And what exactly does a board make contact with, when one first uses a board I believe it's mearly the sub-conscious "bleeding over" into the movement displayed on the board. But once the board is Personally charged (given power) I think it does reach into the world of Spirits. But I define the spirit world and the spirits that influence it as one in the same. The entities being only a part of a whole, not an individual acting alone.

OK.. This is getting long and I don't want to be a board hog so.. I'll come back if your interested.

I'll just finish by saying a use my "home-made" board as a resting place for my notebook when I use automatic writing, very inspirational thought fill my head when doing this, and it's a combo of my sub-conscious and the world of happy spirits.

K. Well i have never have contacted the dead before but some of my friends have. They always told me that depending on what type of communication do you want and if they will be able to be found from the other side. Just like our world, the other side is so big that finding them will take time. Well I hope this was helpful

Communication is open to us all....desire, motive and practice and your there.

All divining tools, Ouija, tarot, crystal balls or tea leaves are just symbolic of a need for knowledge from the external "higher" powers, when actually it's the internal that does most of the advising, although the "environmental" forces play a big part of the process in those who attract the attention.

The usage of the sub-conscious in these ways are like an environmental draw for said forces. That's why one much take great care when applying these practices, the state of mind of the user is the most important feature of them all.

Ouiji boards are not a good means of communicating with spirits, for one it forces them to answer which in turn really ticks them off if they are resting spirits. The other part of it is yes you can in fact open a gateway by accident between the realms, and what comes through is really hard to put back.

My mother and aunts used a Ouiji board not understanding how powerful they really were as mediums and called forth a gateway that my grandfather had to close with a lot of help.

The "spirits" are right here already, what gets opened, just them interacting with the person... Drawing there attention?

The "Gateway" that has been mentioned is one that leads to another place, there are in fact spirits who are trapped in a place in between this plan and the next. Or as my Native mom likes to call it the either, they are neither here nor there but in between.

Some of the ancestors used to call it the gray place, some religious people would call it purgatory. Those who couldn't fully cross over are trapped in this void.

The gateway is a rift in between the two that merges one side with the other. Some shamans says that we walk through that void during a spirit walk before entering the land of the spirit fully to talk with the ancestors.

Would the gate that your talking about have to do with the splitting of the filaments and crossing into the world of the eagle? That's not really a gate (IMO), it doesn't lead to a different place, especially purgatory??

I would have to say either a fully trained medium or as Billy said automatic writing. I am not that familiar with the automatic writing but from what I have been told about it it works well.

I agree with most i would not use the bored unless you know how to work it. Maybe going to someone who knows how to work it and trying to contact the dead that way. I do believe that if the dead want they can contact us.

well I wouldn't use it on my own and 'yes' I would definitely seek expert help -- but with all the talk about 'gateways' to hell etc I'm not sure I would go with that idea

The whole problem with contacting the dead through any method is that it is very difficult to protect yourself when you are not learned with the method you are using. Ouiji Boards, EVP, mediums, crystals, anything can be not only dangerous but very deceptive. Theres never a real way to tell if the information you are getting is 1. just what your subconcious is thinking or 2. the truth. I know, it's hard to think that dead souls would lie, but there are good and bad spirits out there just as there are live people. There is only one difference between us and them, and thats a beating heart.

CARVALL, thank you for that thought, but I dont think prayer will work for me as its of a personal selfish nature that I want to contact the other side. I'm not praying for understanding or forgiveness or any other selfless desire. So I can't see as a prayer would be answered.

i wouldnt try it if i was you. i used to have one of those - i think it was made by waddingtons - and i never had any results good or bad. but i did have results from a home-made one that was just letters written on hardboard, with a marker pen, and using a wine glass as the "planchette". there was nothing really strange at first - just silly messages and a candle blowing out. but things started to happen later, unpleasant things.

Sometimes you don't have to do anything at all ...they seem to just come out of the walls and contact you without any effort on your part.

I myself like to take taper candles in a dark room, and use a black bowl full of water and scry. I always say a protection prayer before.

Of all the things out there I believe the board is unreliable. Try one of the many other methods, I have yet to contact the dead but then again, I am not properly prepared for it at the moment.

Do a protection spell first, always do it first. I personally dont like to use the ouiji board( to many awful experiances). Id try a different approach. But if you insist on the ouiji board NEVER DO IT ALONE!!!

Ouija boards are an interesting thing. I have one that I use regularly, just to see what I can dig up. So far I haven't released anything I couldn't contain.

Call me stupid if you want, but I'm all about testing my limits, and what doesn't kill me only makes me stronger inside and out. But for the unexperienced I would recommend deep meditation if you have welcomed your inner-potential. If you haven't, you should see a medium.

Try a simple experiment (goes the same for the pendulum):
Ask someone that doesn`t know what is the colour of your car is to ask "the dead" lol what is the colour of your car is.Eventually offer them 2 posibilities: if your car is red ask the "dead" if your car is red or green.Or if you really want to see the truth about this hoax ask if your car is green or black.
Or just don`t give any colour hint.
Let`s suppose the "dead" respond that your car is green.
Get outside and see for yoursef: the colour is changed ?

I feel that the safest way to contact the dead would be to do it with the help of a medium. The Ouja board can be a very deadly thing as well as you can allow something to enter your home that can bring you more problems then you ever imagined.

Alot of negative advice about the Ouija board. I don't believe they are a hoax or the devil. However I think it opens a door way to both good & evil. Here is the problem, cause you never know which you will get. I probably have more experience with them than any one person should have. I thought it was a hoax at first, so of course I was ranting this is such bs, this isn't real, things like that. Well I soon discovered how real it could be. It can be very helpful or very hurtful. Just be very cautious if you chose to try it.

I see a lot of people saying not to use the ouiji board to contact people, but i do not know why people think ouiji boards are bad they are a tool just like any other, as long as you do not play around with them i think they are safe to use the people who usually have problems with them are the ones who wants to play around...

My problem with a ouija board is they let all things through. the "good" spirit your looking for as well as any evil spirt floating by. then the spirts are hell to get rid of. It's just bad stuff. I use tarot cards. more stable and controlable.
